Good Morning Nashville ☀️ Once again we are beyond excited to bring to you a new episode of the FIRST & ONLY black father and son podcast in the state of Tennessee. Don't get tired of us yet, because we don't plan on going anywhere no time soon! Let's get into today's episode as we allow another black man to vent today on our platform. Man, what a story do we have for you today being told by this young man. Our platform truly embraces the concept of a “NO JUDGEMENT ZONE.” Not too many media platforms can say that, but we honor our guests and never allow them to feel less than, or beneath us based on their stories told on the show. With that … we are excited to introduce to some, and present to others our brother and talented rap artist here in Nashville, Mr. Elton Maupins. ⭐️ Elton, also known by his stage name “Gvoice32”, grew up in Doge City, and his story truly speaks on how God can bring you from “poverty through perseverance.” Elton vents with us today about being diagnosed at an early age with PTSD schizophrenia, and how hard it was to be told these things at a young age … not knowing what they meant or how it would effect him later in life. He admits to having a troubled life, but tells us that often times, kids have to play the hand that is dealt to them. Elton talks about how all he knew was the streets, because that was all his environment was. Venting with us about what comes with the street life, Elton knew as he got older that if he stayed there … he wouldn't make it out.
I may not have been the one to come up with this idea, but I'm glad they exist! Join me and Nell from Team Allwood to talk about how we brainstorm solutions for tough problems and how you can implement them in your business, no matter how big or small your team is.

Join me as I introduce the philosophical analogy of “The Bag”. Each bit I will adjust the analogy for practical applications in life , still building upon the previous. This weeks bit is about not judging others and having empathy when they are going through things that sometimes we just don't understand. Realizing that we may have areas and things in our lives that our others wouldn't understand as well. Let's break the KODE together , of not judging. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/koded/support

As the old saying goes, "never judge a book by its cover", and let me tell you that is SO true, especially when it comes to one's looks. Have you ever been judged by your looks? I sure have as has this week's guest, Bridget Sickso. She and I share similar missions to ensure that empowered voices are heard, while breaking the mold on what society tells us we should or shouldn't look like based on our interests. Bridget helps us find our inner beauty and worthiness with reflection, connection, and community. She is the founder of Exalted Publishing House, a yoga teacher, podcast host, & leadership coach...this lady is the bomb! Bridget holds various certifications as a holistic health coach, reiki practitioner and has studied ayurveda, vinyasa, yin, restorative, and kundalini yoga. She helps successful entrepreneurs stand out from the crowd, positioning them as leaders in their various industries by sharing powerful stories. This dynamo also hosts women's circles, networking events, and community gatherings where women of all ages, ethnicities and interests can use their voices, connect with like-minded women, and elevate themselves and their businesses. On her “The Gathering MVMT” podcast Bridget has interviewed over 60 entrepreneurs, TEDx speakers, authors, thought leaders, and visionaries whose goals are to uplift humanity. After her healing experience with Lyme disease at age 15, Bridget's mission was to make sure empowering voices were heard loud and clear. She set out on a path to study holistic healing and yoga, then fell down a rabbit hole of personal development. Empowered (there's that word!), she quit her NYC sales job in 2016 and set forth on an entrepreneurial adventure committed to gathering people together, elevating them, and sharing their powerful voices. Bridget's books, "Legacy Speaks" and "Success Codes" are available on Amazon and further detail her commitment to sharing women's stories while gathering us all together. We have a new episode out this Friday to continue our year-end wrap-up with a special guest, but because of Thanksgiving, we will not have time to record a bonus episode. So, as an extra treat, we're sharing an episode of a podcast we love with you. On The No Judgement Zone, host Roman Benty, Chelsea Rogers, and Tyler Gallagher discuss the kind of music some see as a guilty pleasure, but ultimately still slaps. We're sharing with you their excellent deep dive on Lisa Loeb. We hope you have a nice Thanksgiving if that's something you celebrate, see you Friday.

Welcome back! This week we dive into a new story shared by Kimberly about an experience at Grady's "No Judgement Zone" table that took an unexpected turn.
Here's the gist of this very special episode...yes, we talk abortion on this episode. No, we don't debate abortion on this episode. How is that? Well, as you know by now, we respect everyone's opinions here. This podcast is a NO JUDGEMENT ZONE. So when we decided to do an episode to talk about how the Texas abortion law would impact Spoonies, we knew we had to not debate the right or wrong of abortion itself. We are just going to talk about the law and what it means for someone with chronic illness. Period. And yes, we know this will be a hard episode for die-hard pro-life folks. We get you. However, there are deeper impacts legally that just pregnancies and fetuses and maternal health. It impacts and entire legal and health system...and that impacts anyone with chronic illness in huge ways. We have to talk about this law. So, it's okay if you want to sit this one out. We respect that, because we respect that you believe what you believe, and abortion discussions are insanely emotional for people. This decision to do this episode wasn't one we took lightly. We know abortion is so controversial. However, not discussing something that impacts Spoonies because it might upset some people or lose us listeners or get us some hate mail...well that was unacceptable to us. We're here to talk about living with chronic illness, and this law could impact a part of many of your lives (and potentially the rest of us as other states adopt this law or laws like it). So we moved forward and tried to give the discussion the utmost respect it deserved with the least amount of judgement for either side of the abortion debate. Our focus really tried to stay on the law. And so we ask, and we say this in bold, that you refrain from debating abortion in the comments here, on Facebook or on any of our social media. We will delete inappropriate, harmful, hateful, or hurtful comments, period. We're not debating abortion. We're talking about the law and the law only. Again, let's keep this a respectful zone. Honor one another and the struggles we go through. With all that being said...we hope you listen with an open heart and mind. Thank you all for supporting us, being kind, and we do wish you a good week!
Episode 9 This week, we get to hear from my longtime friend Q. Sims. In life, we live in ways where people might judge us. In the times we are being vulnerable and showing our authentic selves, we hope that people are ready to support us. Listen in this week as Q. discusses how vulnerability and transparency are close cousins, how being vulnerable can bring a sense of success in life, and when done in the right manner can help you understand your priorities.
The boys are back and they are (yet again) talkin' dialectics! Joined by the nicest guy in Pittsburgh, Roman from The No Judgement Zone podcast, we take a deep dive into the shifts in American popular music post- 9/11. From the decline of popular counter-culture in rock, to the uber-patriotism of country, to the evil machinations of the record industry to hyper-exploit hip-hop; the superstructure adjusted in the chaos to fix the problems of the Vietnam era and return to an era of censorship, reaction, and jingoism. What did this mean for radio? What did it mean for music? What does it mean for us now? Find out on this episode!

Have you ever judged someone? We all can go ahead and raise our hands on this one. There have been times we have judged others when we shouldn’t have and ended up in a similar place regretting that judgement. Maybe you know what it’s like to be judged. It’s not a good feeling and often leaves us feeling inadequate. Remember that feeling the next time you start feeling judgement creep in. It’s so much easier to judge than love. Love takes work. This is a no judgement zone! We shouldn’t judge others because they sin differently than we do. We are all sinners in need of a Savior. None of us are exempt from sin. Be thankful that God doesn’t judge you like you judge others.
Today I want to talk about how it is basically impossible to do parenting “right”... someone will always judge you, call you out for something, and try to make you feel as though you are doing it wrong! It's rough to be a parent and now with social media and the like, there is a lot of judgement and people telling you that you are doing it wrong and should be doing it this way or that way. Ugh! Our job as parents is to keep our kiddos safe, let them know that they are loved beyond words, and to teach them to be amazing human beings that are capable of going out into the world independently. With that said, what the heck is the “right” way to parent? I am no parenting expert- except that I am a parent, but in my opinion, the right way to parent is how you parent. Unless you are physically and/or mentally abusing your children, not providing them basic needs, and the like, you are doing alright! So, listen in and I'll give you my take on how I parent and after you listen, let me know your thoughts! What was your biggest takeaway from today’s episode? What do you think about some people being the judge and jury of parenting? Share with me- take a screenshot of you listening and tag me or hit me up with a DM on IG @livingjoyfulandwell. Becky Kopitzke is a normal mom, with normal struggles. One day she realized: every mom has struggles, and every mom has flaws. She decided to be brave and share hers. Specifically, we discuss how God is stronger than our mistakes, and how He meets us and loves us there. Sometimes that means God convicts us, which Becky considers an indication that she's near to God. She also considers the conviction and invitation God extends for us to draw near to Him. Other times it includes God's discipline, which can be painful but is always loving. Her advice to help us succeed and grow in motherhood includes intentional presence, an anchored identity, honesty, and above all, GRACE
Chris and Tyler discuss holding people accountable without judging them and/or imposing authority. First, we would like to shout out Love City Brewing for their support of our Kickstarter. Love City Brewing believes that beer is for everyone. They offer quality beer in a welcoming and accessible taproom in the heart of Philadelphia. Check them out on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. The judgment we pass is a direct reflection of our own insecurities/ criticisms we’ve accumulated over our lifetime. But how does this apply to morality? Criticizing someone's superficial choices is different than criticizing someone for being racist.
You were part of a recent RIF at work, and you immediately start blaming your boss for not protecting you, your toxic work environment, and the crappy job market. Maybe you’re backing out of the parking spot at the supermarket while your son is incessantly talking at you and you don’t see the car coming down the aisle and you have to hit your brake...hard. You turn and get annoyed at your son for distracting you. Maybe the phone rang, and it was your mother-in-law and you forgot the cookies you were baking in the oven… now they’re burnt to a crisp. You’re steaming at your mother in law. The blame game is something many of us play. But it’s a bad habit and low-level energy that can hurt your ability to see beyond the immediate and more importantly, keep you stuck. In this episode, we are going to unravel blame, why we blame and how choosing to react differently can give us much better results. Why we blame:Humans point blame for self preservation: Our subconscious protects us from our truths, keeps our status in tact.Humans need to know why: Pointiing blame gives them a false understanding around why something happened.Humans like to live in black and white: The world is gray, everything isn’t easily put into a compartment or bucket, often things spill ove.How to stop blaming:Decide you no longer want to navigate life this way.Bring awareness to yourself when you start blaming. Do a blame download. Sit down and handwrite a list of everything you blame for your situation. Then start to break out the facts from the fiction. Disclaimer: I will add segments to this area as I have something to vent about. What I say on here is my 2cents to be free to express myself and you to express yourself in this No Judgement Zone... It's not for me to judge you or your beliefs. God will judge you in His time. That's the crux of Romans 14. Back in the first century, the Jews tried to keep what we know today as kosher foods. The Gentiles didn't care. They ate everything. God showed Peter in Acts 10 that all food is OK to eat... Continue reading in my blog... Do you find yourself looking down on others, judging what they wear, the way they look, decisions they make and the way they live their lives? Enter the Judgement Zone. This week Judie is traveling with Ke’ilani attending college volleyball camps. While traveling she’s been working out at Planet Fitness. One of the motivational murals on the wall proclaims “No Judgement Zone”. Judie thought judging would be an excellent topic for this week's discussion on Choose Don’t Excuse. Actually join us as we work through our own thought processes regarding judging. Is there a place for judging and if so when and why? A few highlights: Our inclination to be judgmental How do we balance between exercising good judgement and not judging others? One key indications is if you are pushing other people down to lift yourself up you’ve slid into the Judgement Zone No drama! Don’t attract the drama to make yourself look better than other people. Your own insecurities lead to judging other people We explore an unexpected experience with they way our daughter was dressed and unintended attention from an older gentleman (Can I say pig) even though we were heading out to the lake How do you balance helping someone on a path to destruction? Are you helping or judging? Or Both? We fail to look at the true intent of the heart of others making it easy to judge Everyone has a backstory, one you don't see, if we understood that story we would cheer their progress rather than judge It's Time to enter the JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE! Yes this is a hot topic. One we will have to explore some more. Let us know your thoughts. Send us a message at choosedontexcuse@gmail.com

We know that even when we make all the “right” choices when it comes to education, factors beyond our control have a huge impact on our student loan debt. If this sounds too serious, rest assured that we’re bringing the funny along with the facts. There’s an impression of Maya Rudolph on the Netflix show Big Mouth, lots of goodies in the mailbag, a convo on the importance of alone time for dads and a reframe on what our aspirational selves can look like (hint: it involves insoles for your shoes and sun hats). Plus, Yas, Dara and Pen compete to see whose expensive college degree title is the longest. Though there’s no hard-and-fast rule for what makes something a need vs. a want (it’s different for everybody), this week’s guest JM Contreras shares how you can use some tricks borrowed from cognitive neuroscience to tell the two apart and make sure you get the right amount of both. This week, nobody makes it out of the No-Judgement Zone without judging themselves a little bit—but the real judgement comes when Yas and JM throw some shade at experts who act like people with low incomes don’t deserve to spend anything on their wants. How rude! Full Transcript Links mentioned in this episode: The Sleep With Me podcast Follow our guest JM Contreras @ContrerasPhD More on the psychology of spending on needs vs. wants

Daily Devotion: Do onto others as you would have them do onto you. Not matter who you are around try not to judge. Love them right where they are. Love the choices they've made. Love the blessings they received. It is not up to us to judge others. After all, you wouldn't want God to judge you! Luke 6:37, “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven." I love when things are transparent, free and clear of all inhibition and judgement. -Pharrell Williams Stolen Lunches is a bible study community of believers.
