A story about a house, a hillside, and a centuries-old oak tree—and what it teaches us about healing, renewal, and the resilience of nature. In this episode, I explore what it means to be a participant in the restoration of the world around us and ourselves. ——————
Bible Reading: Isaiah 61:1-3, 10-11; Colossians 1:9-10"This giant oak tree is what gave Oak Park its name," the tour guide told the kids on their field trip. Elijah listened attentively. He loved history and learning things like this.Back home later that day, Elijah told his mom about the tour. "That big oak tree survived the Civil War, a flood, and six fires," he said. "Wow!" said Mom. "That's amazing.""It kept on growing," said Elijah, "even though the odds were a hundred to one against it. The oak is one of the slowest-growing trees in the world, but it's also one of the strongest. It survives things that cause other trees to die.""Hmm," said Mom. "You know, Elijah, you're something like that tree." Elijah was surprised. "Me? I didn't survive a war or a flood or even one fire--let alone six!"Mom laughed. "No, but I still think you're like that tree.""How?" asked Elijah."Well," said Mom, "for one thing, the oak grows slowly, and you--"Elijah interrupted her. "You always say I'm growing up too fast!" Mom smiled. "That's true--physically. But I was thinking of the way most of us grow spiritually. As Christians, it's often easy to wonder if we're making any progress in becoming more like Jesus." Elijah nodded as he recalled some trouble he'd gotten into recently. "You may grow slowly in Christ," said Mom, "but like that oak, you do grow steadily. And you survive worse things than war or floods. You survive attacks from Satan and struggles with temptation.""But I still do wrong things," Elijah pointed out.Mom nodded. "I know--I do too. All Christians give in to temptation and sin sometimes. But the fact that you feel bad when you sin--and that you don't want to do it again--shows that you're continuing to grow.""Really?" Elijah smiled. "That's pretty cool.""Have faith that God is working to make you grow to be more like Jesus," Mom told him. "Keep working with Him by admitting when you sin and trusting Him to help you change your habits--even when the growing gets tough!" –Nathan RunyonHow About You?Do you ever wonder if you're growing spiritually? If you're a Christian, God is always working in your heart to make you more like Jesus--even when it's hard for you to detect. When you do something wrong, confess your sin and ask God for forgiveness. Then look to Him for the strength you need to resist temptation, and trust Him to help you grow in Him.Today's Key Verse:Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (NKJV) (2 Peter 3:18)Today's Key Thought:Christians grow in Jesus
In the early days of LifeWork Systems, we prioritized working with children, teens and young adults, delivering massive multi-year, multi-school, award-winning school reform projects to them and their parents, teachers, school principals and staff, often at some of the most at-risk St. Louis schools. Our goal was to help them become responsible, internally motivated, and emotionally intelligent so they could thrive now and into the future. We continue to prioritize this work as one part of our business model, with interest today for such reform in schools in the UK, Europe, New Zealand, and other parts of the US. That's because young people are our future. They are the ones to powerfully usher in evolutionary change and win/win ways of operating our world so desperately needs. This is why I'm so excited to interview Holly Couch and J.P. Watson, who bring over 30 years of collective experience working with young adults. Together, they have distilled the best of mindfulness, neuroscience, emotional intelligence, motivation, and confidence-building into a life-changing program. These are the skills every young person needs—not just to succeed but to flourish in life. I agree with them. Significant and lasting change is best delivered to those who are young so they don't have to undo so much status quo conditioning and are instead well-prepared to face the rapidly changing future. What we discuss in this interview may include: 1. What is the story of your journey and your creation of your Uncommon Education Company? 2. What changes do you want to bring to the world by unlocking the potential within young people? 3. Why is it important to become uncommon in how people of all ages use their power to influence needed change in the world? 4. How does your work with “You're Not Broken” support the best in the teens and young adults you serve? 5. What are some of the crucial mindset shifts and skills needed to create resilience and expanded service in young people? 6. What is the significance of the Oak Tree in defining your vital work with young people? Watch Here: https://www.transformationtalkradio.com/watch.html

Claim the early bird sale (limited-time) at unlockgodmode.org * * * In this profound lecture, Neville Goddard explores the divine process of shaping the "unbegotten"—the transformation of man into the image of God. He draws from the Bible, emphasizing that God's purpose is to make man in His likeness, as stated in Genesis: "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness."Key Themes:The Divine Decision & The Oneness of GodNeville begins by examining the phrase "Let us make man in our image," questioning who "us" refers to. He explains that God is a compound unity—one made up of many—which is revealed in the Shema: "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One." This oneness is the foundation of the shaping process.Neville's Vision of the Oak Tree and the SerpentHe shares a vivid spiritual experience in which he sees a majestic man under an oak tree, representing divine courage and faith in God's promise. In the tree, he observes a serpent with a human face, embodying wisdom and power. This vision leads him to deeper insights into the biblical role of the serpent—not as a symbol of evil, but as a divine agent in man's transformation. The Paradox of the Serpent as Both the Fall and the SaviorNeville challenges traditional interpretations, suggesting that the serpent, often linked to man's fall, is actually Christ, the redeemer. He references Romans 11:32: "For God has consigned all men to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all." The so-called fall was divinely orchestrated, ensuring that man would experience the joy of redemption. The Symbolism of Abraham and IsaacHe discusses God's covenant with Abraham, the change of his name, and the promise of Isaac—a symbol of divine laughter and fulfillment. Isaac represents "the begetting of the unbegotten," the moment when the mortal man is transformed into the divine image.God Wears Man as a GarmentNeville reiterates his central teaching: God became man so that man may become God. He describes how God "clothes" Himself with human experience, just as we can clothe ourselves with new states of consciousness through imagination. The shaping process occurs as we assume the feeling of being our desired self.Entering the Eighth Day: The OgdoadHe introduces the concept of the eighth day (Ogdoad), representing the entrance into the Kingdom of God. This signifies the completion of man's transformation, when he is fully shaped into the divine image and enters eternal life.Imagination as the Shaping PowerNeville urges his listeners to exercise their divine power by imagining noble concepts of themselves, clothing themselves in success, health, and abundance. He shares a testimony of a man who proved this law by manifesting a desired object and even experiencing divine intervention while at sea.The Journey to Becoming ChristHe concludes by affirming that every person is moving toward the realization that they are Christ. Through trials and afflictions, man is refined, and when the shaping is complete, he awakens to his true identity—God Himself. Conclusion:Neville emphasizes that the shaping of the unbegotten is God's ultimate purpose. The so-called "fall" was God's deliberate plan, and the entire journey of human experience is leading to the moment when man awakens as God. Until then, we are called to live by divine law, consciously shaping ourselves through imagination, faith, and the recognition that we are one with God. ***Download the free Neville Goddard PDF Guide at manifestwithneville.com - Discover the transformative power of Neville Goddard's wisdom with this FREE 60-page guide on his 12 timeless principles of manifestation and reality creation.★ Follow the podcast for daily lectures from the mystic Neville Goddard ★FREE RESOURCES:• Join the FREE Neville Goddard newsletter• Join the FREE Telegram Channel• Feeling is the Secret • Full Audiobook* * *The James Xander Trip Podcast:• Listen on Spotify• Listen on Apple Podcasts• Listen on YouTubeDIVE DEEPER:• The Unlock God Mode Course• The Infinite Wealth Guided Meditation* * *ABOUT NEVILLE GODDARD:Neville Goddard (1905-1972), was an English writer, speaker and mystic. He grew up in Barbados and moved to the United States of America as a young adult. Neville Goddard was perhaps the last century's most intellectually substantive and charismatic purveyor of the philosophy generally called New Thought. He wrote more than ten books under the solitary pen name Neville, and was a popular speaker on metaphysical themes from the late 1930s until his death in 1972.Possessed of a self-educated and uncommonly sharp intellect, Neville espoused a spiritual vision that was bold and total: Everything you see and experience, including other people, is the result of your own thoughts and emotional states. Each of us dreams into existence an infinitude of realities and outcomes. When you realize this, Neville taught, you will discover yourself to be a slumbering branch of the Creator clothed in human form, and at the helm of limitless possibilities.Neville's thought system influenced a wide range of spiritual thinkers and writers, from bestselling author Dr. Joseph Murphy to Rhonda Byrne and Wayne Dyer.He has inspired and continues to inspire millions of readers around the world.* * *SOCIALS:• Neville Goddard Newsletter• Neville Goddard Telegram• Neville God...

As a nature lover, I'm often asked about my favorite plants, animals, and insects. And I always struggle to answer those questions, because I have so many favorites, and they are context dependent. But when it comes to birds, woodpeckers often come to mind first. They're often colorful, charismatic, and have such an amazing set of adaptations that let them drill into trees, excavate insects from bark, and some even fly catch on the wing. One of the most interesting woodpecker species is the Acorn Woodpecker, found in much of the west and southwest. They live in large groups, are loud, have a clown face, and can store thousands of acorns in specially drilled holes that are just acorn sizes.Today's guest is Dr. Walt Koenig, who has spent several decades studying these birds, in affiliation with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and UC Berkeley. Today we'll learn about their behaviors, why you don't find acorn woodpeckers in the east, despite a nice variety of oak trees, and get this - acorns aren't even their preferred food! Dr. Koenig has studied their breeding behaviors and group compositions, which is perhaps the most fascinating part of the interview, and I can't do it justice in a short intro - so you'll just have to listen. And if one studies acorn woodpeckers, it follows that one studies acorns, too. So we also discuss the phenomenon of masting - that is, when oak trees produce bumper crops of acorns, in synchrony across wide geographic ranges! In fact, this past year was a mast year for some oak species in California. So if you are interested in what causes masting, you might want to jump to the last 23 minutes or so of the interview.FULL SHOW NOTESLINKSAcorn Woodpeckers at All About BirdsDr. Koenig's WebsiteSupport Us On Patreon!Buy our Merch!Music: Spellbound by Brian Holtz MusicLicense (CC BY 4.0): https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseArtist site: https://brianholtzmusic.com Discover the Jumpstart Nature Podcast - entertaining and immersive, it's the nature fix we all need.Check past Nature's Archive episodes for amazing guests like Doug Tallamy, Elaine Ingham, and Rae Wynn-Grant, covering topics from bird migration to fungi to frogs and bats!

Geoffrey Shugen Arnold, Roshi - ZMM - 10/26/24 - Gateless Gate, Case 37 - Selflessness is what makes a paramita a “perfection.” To explore the wisdom paramita, Shugen Roshi takes up Shantideva's description of the two truths of the relative and absolute. The two truths describe a reality in the mind of one who does not grasp on to appearances as real, and therefore is not in conflict with anything. In this perfect wisdom, when there is nothing to actually hold on to, what remains? Everything! These two truths are a foundational aspect of the Mahayana Buddhist path.

The murder of Reverend Canon Wancura was only the second homicide to occur in the history of Shelter Island in over 300 years. But was his home invasion a random and brutal attack by a day laborer working near his mansion, or an act of revenge on a priest who was leading a double life? I had Travis on the podcast and we just name dropped for an hour. Yeah, we talked a bunch of energy stuff - Halcon and the shale revolution, debt deals with Oak Tree, nuclear powering tech, hydrocarbons powering the developing world - but then we went through celebrity encounters - Justin Timberlake, Jeff Skilling, Michael Milken, Bret Michael, David Lee Roth. The only thing strange about this energy finance bro hash session was we weren't wearing Pickering Energy vests.Find us here
Climbing the Oak Tree of Life: Lessons in Growth and Resilience Hello, everyone! It's Mike, and today we're discussing a metaphor that mirrors our life's journey — climbing an oak tree. Before we explore the climbing methodologies, let's reflect on the nature of hardwood trees. These majestic beings, like the towering redwoods on the West Coast, grow slowly and resiliently over centuries, developing solid roots and strong foundations necessary to reach skyward. This slow growth process is akin to our own development of character, skills, and disciplines. In this episode, I draw parallels between hardwood trees' gradual and robust growth and our personal development. Just as an oak doesn't become sturdy and grand overnight, we too can't expect to instantly develop profound character and skills. Life is a series of lessons learned through trials, failures, and persistence. It's about skinning your knees, overcoming hardships, and enduring adversity to forge a self capable of contributing positively to the world around us. We'll discuss the importance of learning and applying life's tough lessons to benefit ourselves and others. It's about doing the hard work, making tough choices, and consistently choosing the right path, even when it's not the most exciting or easy. If you're ready to learn how to climb your own life's oak tree and understand the value of growth and resilience, hit that like button, subscribe for more insights, and share your thoughts in the comments below! Catch you in the next video as we continue to climb higher together!
