Send me a text message. Suggestions? Subjects for future podcasts? Let me know--thanks!If your native language doesn't include many consonant blends, English can be a challenge. An example is “st” as in the word “test.” These blends can appear at the beginning of a word, in the middle, or at the end. Let's practice. 1- The first test was the worst test; the last test was the second worst.2- My task was to cover the disk on my desk with my mask.3- Old Mr. Gold told me he had a cold from the mold.4- I used my wand to send sand to the pond.5- Do you think I should dunk the skunk in the sink or the tank?6- I heard the sound of a hound running around and sniffing a mound.7- As a prank, the drunk drank his drink in a trunk.8- Would you, could you scold a child in a field?9- Mr. Smart stood apart in the court and held a chart of his heart.10- The bored blond was armed with a can of baked beans.Intro & Outro Music: La Pompe Du Trompe by Shane Ivers - https://www.silvermansound.com Support the showEmail me: swift.water3883@fastmail.comYou can now support my podcasts and classes:Help Barry pay for podcast expenses--thank you!
Hey Listener, grab something black to wear because Amanda Frietsch is back on the show. What starts out as a Cincinnati History podcast quickly becomes solely focused on Cincinnati cemeteries with a lot of talk of Spring Grove Cemetery. Don't worry, she'll come back to talk general Cincinnati history on a later episode. Topics this week include: Burial trends. When you move people, you're going to leave some bits and pieces. We're taking our child casket with us. Cemetery Prison Rules. The future of history. The Oddfellows. Not that symbol. Put me in an unmarked grave. Old Mr. Greenbacks. Crypto Bro Folks. Statue money. Getting on a boat to buy a momument. When you replace someone in a band what not to do. Marrying your wife's lame sister. Mausoleum flex. Spooky graveyard talk.
JACK. Bunburyist? What on earth do you mean by a Bunburyist? ALGERNON. I'll reveal to you the meaning of that incomparable expression as soon as you are kind enough to inform me why you are Ernest in town and Jack in the country. JACK. Well, produce my cigarette case first. ALGERNON. Here it is. [Hands cigarette case.] Now produce your explanation, and pray make it improbable. [Sits on sofa.] JACK. My dear fellow, there is nothing improbable about my explanation at all. In fact it's perfectly ordinary. Old Mr. Thomas Cardew, who adopted me when I was a little boy, made me in his will guardian to his grand-daughter, Miss Cecily Cardew. Cecily, who addresses me as her uncle from motives of respect that you could not possibly appreciate, lives at my place in the country under the charge of her admirable governess, Miss Prism. ---------- 지난 이야기: 앨저넌은 잭에게 세실리의 정체를 밝히라고 압박하면서, 잭이 '번버리스트'일 거라고 의심합니다. “his age, and an affliction” [STOC] The panoply of elderly individuals in the Sherlock Holmes stories is impressive: Mr. Frankland, the old crank in The Hound of the Baskervilles, the miserly Josiah Amberley in "The Retired Colourman," Old Mr. Farquhar, the previous owner of Watson's practice. But there were many others, some of whom go almost unnoticed. What similarities do we see among them? How did Conan Doyle's writing about them change over time? It's just a Trifle. The Adventures of Old Mr. Toad by Thornton W. Burgess audiobook. The Adventures of Old Mr. Toad is another in the long line of children's books by conservationist Thornton W. Burgess. In this book, we follow the adventures of Old Mr. Toad as he joins the Spring Chorus at the Smiling Pool, shows off his babies, displays his special tongue to Peter Rabbit and has a very special encounter with Buster Bear. We also learn little lessons about life such as pride can burst like a great big bubble, your friends' hidden talents may surprise you and it is considered impolite to watch someone change his clothes - especially when he eats them. Instrumental Only "When You Say Nothing at All" written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz , 1988. Producer Renee plays Piano + Guitar + Percussion InstrumentsSING ALONG ! Here are the lyrics:It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart,Without saying a word you can light up the dark,Try as I may I could never explain,What I hear when you don't say a thing,The smile on your face lets me know that you need me,There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me,The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall,You say it best when you say nothing at all,All day long I can hear people talking out loud,But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd,Old Mr. Webster could never define,What's being said between your heart and mine,The smile on your face lets me know that you need me,There's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me,The touch in your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall,You say it best when you say nothing at all.........

The past few decades have solidified Linda Perry as a pop songwriting machine for the likes of Pink, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, and many more artists in the 2000s. But the talent was already there in 1992 when "What's Up!" struck a chord with listeners as the first track off of the one and only 4 Non Blondes album "Bigger, Better, Faster, More!" While the neo-folk of "What's Up!" slotted in nicely alongside fellow non-grunge acts like Blind Melon, Spin Doctors, Blues Traveler, Dave Matthews Band, and others, the rest of the record tackles a variety of genres, like the shuffling blues of "Pleasantly Blue" to the bass-popping funk of "Superfly" to mixed results. Sweet messages from our #Unanimous listeners who don't want our podcast to end. (All good things...) Start your own podcast! (And we'll make a “Secrets Revealed” podcast episode soon where we teach you how). We were told what the “buffers” was from a previous show. Thanks Mr. Dirk! And we still don't like Old Mr. Grace. Mavis brings Humphries a nice tray with eggs and soldiers (not burly Armymen). A fabulous dream sequence with Miss. Lovelock and Cap'n Peacock as a 1950s period scene - amazing. Tobacco snuff and the gross history of “toffee-nosed gits” and “noses in the air”. The studio audience wanted to applaud the sequence. Then they discover a mummified cat inside the bedroom wall! Rumbold, Slocombe, Brahams, and Humphries go and plant potatoes. Slocombe's straddling of a tractor seat! And her country roots come out. The Bogman joke! A bog = slang for “bathroom” in the UK. “There must have been a very long queue”… LOL The staff go to the local museum to donate the cat. The museum curator is played by Patrick Fyffe who is famous for Dame Hilda Bracket (one half of the female impersonator comedy duo “Hinge and Bracket”). Nefertiti's aunt? We don't get the joke. Old Mr. Cotter decides to celebrate his birthday with a walk in the woods of his rambling country estate. But do the trees seem to mimic his own mood? And what surprises await him in the youngest wood? This original recording is an audio presentation by Jasper L'Estrange for EnCrypted: The Classic Horror Podcast. "Decay" by J.C. That Does Suit Madame, a Podcast about "Are You Being Served?"
What would AYBS be like if it was filmed in Los Angeles instead of London?? The Unanimous loved The Unanimous Episode! And we'd still love to hear from you if you didn't get on the podcast. Get well soon folks who have COVID. Blackface verses Drag: comparable or not? Are you a drag queen? We'd love to hear your thoughts about what drag means to you. There's only one recording of “Beane's of Boston” (and that's probably for the best…). Beanes of Boston was filmed between seasons 6 and 7 of the original AYBS in the UK. “Healthy” Kentucky Fried Chicken?! Beane's was broadcast once on May 5, 1979 during the old “Good Times” time slot on CBS. Theme songs: a pilot episode in music. Beane's of Boston is like an American Grace Brothers… kinda. Frank Beane (“Old Mr. Grace”) played by Tom Poston (who guest starred on every sitcom in the 70/80s). Mr. Brandon's brain is AYBS and nothing else. Old Mr. Beane is a dirty old man like Young Mr. Grace. Harrold Bennet's YMG was somehow sweet while being a dirty old man; Frank Beane not so much. We love bumbling Mr. Rumbold played by Nicholas Smith. How did “pilot season” effect the actors in Beane's of Boston? “Miss. Brahams” feels like an airhead from “Three's Company”. Remaking films/TV shows is such a tricky thing since audiences will naturally compare the new product to the classic one. Why couldn't American audiences watch the original UK TV series? American censors couldn't handle sexual jokes or overtly gay characters? Check out Steven Capsuto's Youtube channel about LGBT TV history at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCT-uzyA8-dkyNpMBKXb8mZw We meet Alan Sues who plays Mr. Humphries (Sues was gay but not out for his career). John Hillerman plays MISTER Peacock and carries it off very well. Charlotte Rae plays Mrs. Slocombe without her famous tinted hair. Was blue hair only a UK phenomenon? Slocombe does the “are you free?” line! Did American audiences know about AYBS? Repetition of classic AYBS jokes- “German Week” episode set up. “Well there goes my ride home” = a bold gay joke for American TV in 1979. The first black AYBS-related actor is Don Bexley who plays Mr. Johnson (like Mr. Harmond in maintenance). The German week jokes didn't get any laughs from the American audience. Mrs. Garrett from “The Facts of Life”! The Trans-Atlantic accent: the world's completely artificial accent in 1930s Hollywood films (think Catherine Hepburn). Drunk Mrs. Slocombe singing Marlene Dietrich! Comparing the German Dance Slap Fight with the original just isn't fair. The American experiment failed but it's a great way to compare and construct BoB with AYBS. Generation gaps made the original UK show so funny and relatable: by 1979 in the US, that just didn't work. I have lived in Michigan my whole life. When it comes to college football and the choice of Michigan or Michigan State, I choose Michigan. However, I really have no allegiance to any Big 10 school so if someone gives me a University of Wisconsin hoodie, I'm going to for sure wear it. If you aren't familiar, the mascot for the University of Wisconsin is the Badger. So today, we read the story “When Old Mr. Badger Learned to Stay at Home.” It comes to us from the book “Mother West Wind “When” Stories” written by Thornton W. Burgess. There is a storm one night in Puddle Lane and it rains lots and is very windy. The wind blows some tiles off Old Mr Gotobeds house and the rain gets in. After dripping for a while it suddenly breaks through the ceiling over his bed in one swoosh and soaks him. Listen to find out what happend next.
For the final episode of WandaVision, the Marveling at the Movies team watches the last two episodes together and discusses. Matt argues about all the things that annoyed or underwhelmed him, Matthew argues back that all the things that annoyed or underwhelmed him are the things he normal likes or are the things he specifically requested, and Alexis believes that there are very good arguments on both sides. In other words: it's a normal day in Westview for us.

Welcome to Day 1462 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomForgive Your Enemies – Humor UnpluggedWisdom - the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek! Where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your Captain on our journey to increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1462 of our Trek, and time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life. Something to cheer you and give a bit a levity in your life. We are told in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+15:30&version=NLT (Proverbs 15:30) A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. We are also encouraged in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+17:22&version=NLT (Proverbs 17:22) A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let's jump right in with today's funny which is titled: Forgive Your EnemiesIn his Sunday sermon, Pastor Sam prepared a fiery sermon, “Forgive Your Enemies,” as his subject. As he was finishing up his sermon, he pleaded with the congregation and asked, “how many are you willing to forgive your enemies?” To Pastor Sam's amazement, only about half of the congregation held up their hands. Not satisfied with the response, Pastor Sam went back into his sermon and harangued the congregation for another twenty minutes and repeated his question, “how many are you willing to forgive your enemies?.” The response was better, but still, only eighty percent of the hands were raised. The lack of response lit a fire in Pastor Sam's belly, and he started back in for fifteen more minutes and repeated his question, “how many are you willing to forgive your enemies?.” Thinking that they may be there all day, everyone raised their hand except for old Mr. Jones in the back pew. “Mr. Jones, are you not willing to forgive your enemies?” “I don't have any enemies, Pastor.” In a bit of a pompous tone, Pastor Sam asked, “Mr. Jones, that is very unusual. How old are you?” “One hundred and one.” Mr. Jones replied. Still not being convinced, Pastor Sam said, “Mr. Jones, please come down in front and tell the congregation how a man can live to be one hundred and one and not have an enemy in the world.” Old Mr. Jones teetered down the aisle, slowly turned to face the congregation, smiled, and said, “I outlived every one of them!”I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did pass your smile onto some else, we all could use a kind smile each day. Our Thursday thought is, “https://www.azquotes.com/quote/105824?ref=forgive-your-enemies (The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.)” Here is our verse for today: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians%203%3A13&version=NLT (Colossians 3:13) Make allowance for each other's faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Just as you enjoy these nuggets of humor, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' If you would like to listen to any of our past 1461 treks or read the Wisdom Journal, they are all available at Wisdom-Trek.com. I encourage you to subscribe to Wisdom-Trek on your favorite podcast player so that each day will be downloaded to you automatically. Thank you for allowing me...
