Kwantum Peakz (KP) is the moniker of an established slam poet who made his artistic debut in late 2018. He quickly became a regular mainstay at the Urban Legends Poetry Collective slam poetry and open mic events. They attracted a number of emerging slam poets as well as many of the finest and most seasoned artists in the field. It is there amongst his peers that KP soon realized that his style and delivery marked a stark contrast with what is more commonly viewed as slam poetry. Today, he is seen as well respected and valuable contributor to the local poetry scene. A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, he is arguably an unapologetically ‘vintage' slam poet mixing some mature flair with an intellectually dynamic touch peppered with gritty verses, spirituality and raw imagery. He diligently continues to be an ”armchair student” of the craft while being an informal devoted teacher of the art form. As an artist, KP views the devotion to his work, not as a task, but as an act of service for communities at large. Kwantum was most notably featured at his book launch Up-close and Personal Interview, the B(l)ack to the Future Virtual Poetry Night as well as during a federal government lunchtime fireside chat series. In June 2022, Kwantum Peakz officially published his first poetry anthology entitled Liquid Sunshine in audiobook format currently on sale on over a dozen online distribution platform. https://inthacity.com/liquidsunshine https://www.kobo.com/ca/en/audiobook/liquid-sunshine-2 https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/liquid-sunshine-kwantum-peakz/1141914355?ean=2940175023979

Today we invited a close personal friend of ours into the studio to share his incredible survival story as a police officer who was severely injured while on duty. This episode of CultureKlatsch dives into the complex relationship between Denverites and their environment. Specifically, this work explores the dynamic between Colorado's cultural values towards the outdoors versus the actions done to preserve the environment. It looks at the language used to promote "green" culture and the steps being taken (or that have been taken) to show an appreciation for the Rocky Mountains and plains. We talk to several CU Denver professors--Dr. Rachel Gross from the History Department, Professor Kirsten Christensen and Dr. Benjamin Crawford from the Environmental Science Department, and Dr. Michelle Comstock from the English Department--for their expert opinion on the concepts of green marketing, environmental rhetoric, and urban sustainability or resilience. We explore the history of environmental consciousness and pursue an understanding in our present-day relationship with our environment. Kristen Vande Bossche is passionate about teaching financial literacy. She started her career after graduating from Washington State University in 2013 and joining her family business, Vande Bossche Financial. As she immersed herself into the financial investment business, she discovered that when clients have a clear financial plan and follow that plan, they get peace of mind about their financial future, be it buying a home, financing a child’s college education or planning for retirement. While building on the knowledge of the business she not only obtained all of the securities licenses, but she also went back to school to become a Certified Financial Planner and a Retirement Income Certified Professional. One of the most important lessons that she has learned over the last 8 years is understanding the needs of clients and recognizing that everyone’s economic and life situation is unique. She married her husband Kai in 2018 and at the end of 2019 they welcomed their son Brooks.kristen.vandebossche@nm.com
