This episode outlines the general message of your host Kay Hill's Sobriety. A touchy but meaningful theme overall due to the fact this is the way he communicates the best with himself and other listeners. The main goal here is to document the daily struggles, feelings, and urges, in order to depict the raw side of dealing with recovering from alcoholism. The cry for help was seasons ago which was answered within therapy sessions and blackouts resulting in hospital stays. But this segment here means more than the world to Kay Hill, not only because it's based on true events but it's a great time to be vulnerable and learn the side of him he's been running away from for years on in. A Bite Size episode. Another question this week from a lovely listener. Thank you so much. My listener is feeling stuck in recovery. She has been given a meal plan from her Team and in theory, she wants to implement it and take recovery steps forward. However, putting this into practice is proving frustrating and difficult. The final leg of recovery road has to do with our emotional resilience. When we're in a state of depleted reserves, our emotions become more powerful and control in our lives. They exert anunbalanced role in your inner life and your decisions. Jesus taught us how to gain emotional control and resilience on both the brain and spiritual levels. In fact, Jesus taught that although emotions are important and valid, they should not rule (or ruin) your life. Today we'll discover that the way to both honor your emotions and control your emotions has everything to do with the unique intimacy of your relationship with Jesus. Namely, that you are united to him and that he is united to you.
Once you get the holes in your soul patched up, how do you fuel the tank and build up reserves? Whilevacations are good, they're not going to replenish your inner life. Instead, Paul directs our attention tothe power supply. The power supply isn't “God” in general, but it is a specific quality of God. Namely, the love he has for you that is beyond our full comprehension. But the better grasp you have on it, themore replenishing you will experience.
Anxiety is a contact drain on your emotional and spiritual battery. As long as you're experiencing anxiety, you will never be able to replenish your reserves because there is a constant leak in your tank. Before we can refuel and build reserves to handle life, you're going to need to patch up chronic anxiety and worry that you might be feeling. In this episode, you will learn how to put down your anxiety and never pick it up again. This is the practice that will fill the holes in your soul, and it's the first leg of our journey to recovery
We have all had our emotional reserves drained for the past three years. We have seen a pandemic, and political, and social issues, and that's just the stuff on the news. In this episode, we start to learn how to refuel those emotional reserves and start to recover.

Brandon interacts and celebrates the community that he pulls together and provides a mindful meditative experience while he bikes and walks through New Orleans appreciating the beauty and atmosphere that surrounds him. I reached out to Brandon and asked if he would join me for a short talk on Calling On You to share his thoughts on fear and I was delighted that I had a chance to connect with him on the phone.
