Hello there everybody and welcome to the first episode of 2025! We hope that you all had a wonderful and restful holiday season with your family and friends, and got to enjoy some quality relaxation and gaming time. If you haven't heard our announcement episode / dispatch from a week or so ago, there are lots of fun and exciting changes in 2025 for Trophy Talk and the other shows under the Trophy Talk Network. One of the not so fun things, in fact very bittersweet things though is that this episode is Darryl's last episode as a co-host of Trophy Talk. With life changing events on the way for him (which he goes in to this episode) he felt that it was the right time for him to ride away into the sunset. Fear not though, Darryl will still be in the community and we hope to have him on as a guest whenever he feels up to it! Having said that, this episode in the main focuses on what we've been playing for the past two weeks, which as been a lot! Josh has fully immersed himself in the realm of 3D with his foray and continued exploits with the PSVR2. Does it add a whole new dimension to trophy hunting? In some sense yes it does! Darryl closes out the year strong with Life is Strange: True Colors and the platinum in a Discord favorite, Resident Evil: Remake. Colin, eager to game after being away from his console for a few weeks continues his grinds in Resident Evil: Revelations, and Black Ops 6 but also takes a much needed trip to Constantinople / Istanbul in Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Thank you for listening, and enjoy!

Content Warnings: Suicide, domestic violence, general horror goreIn this ocean-sized episode we tackle the FMV-soaked marvel that is Alan Wake II. We talk about how this feels both like a culmination and maturation of Remedy's work over the past 20 years and how this is still kinda the same as Max Payne 2. We discuss the game's delicious ambiguities and contradictions, which sometimes feel hamstrung by broader “lore” concerns. We marvel at how thick and thorny this is, and gristle at the game's broader reception. At the end, we answer a bevy of listener questions and make a tier list of the characters. Big episode for a game worthy of the runtime.Next episode: Resident Evil Remake

We're back on the clock for another Video Game Draft special! This time, it's what we believe to be the greatest games of 2002 that are under the spotlight. As with before, we are joined by KDB from the Gears Intel and First Aid Spray podcasts (among many others), and once again the three of us take turns to draft 10 games each, then find the Metacritic score for all the games, add it all up and the person with the highest total score at the end wins. There are some real corkers to choose from 2002 - Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, GTA: Vice City, Urban Yeti!, Nancy Drew: Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake, Jazz Jackrabbit, Resident Evil REmake, and Go! Go! Beckham! Adventure on Soccer Island. Alex is the current reigning champeen. Can anyone stop his march towards greatness, or will he storm into a 2-0-0 lead? Don't forget to tweet us @winnerisyoupod or email awinnerisyoupod@gmail.com - and give us a rating on your podcast app, yeah?
We're joined by Dia Lacina to talk about foundational survival horror classic Resident Evil, and mostly talk about genre and the strange legacy of having a remake that's more popular than the original. Sterling is joined by his personal friend Nate, as they investigate the atmospheric and mysterious halls of Resident Evil Remake's Spencer Mansion. They discuss everything from the replayability of this remake, to how absurd but still terrifying the story is, and they even look back on how their friendship started. With limited resources, partners that keep disappearing, and countless horrors stalking you throughout these dimly lit halls, it will be a miracle if anyone survives the night.
