Join us for our Ruach (Spirit)-filled Shavuot/Pentecost service at CMC as we worship G-d in Spirit & Truth focusing on the beauty of the giving of Torah at Mt. Sinai and the Ruach HaKodesh in Jerusalem on Shavuot/Pentecost.

When folks begin studying prophecy, it is common for them to identify which prophecies have been fulfilled and which haven't, especially as it pertains to Yeshua. When the feasts of Adonai are fully grasped, this adds another burst of enthusiasm for identifying which feasts Yeshua has already fulfilled and which he has yet to fulfill. For some, there is a bit of smugness, as if to entice those who don't keep the feasts to join in so they'll understand prophecy, too. Well, sure, the feasts are for everybody, but there's no need to be smug. Prophecy is not a one-and-done proposition, and this is part of the richness of the feasts, which cycle with the years. It's easy to see that Yeshua fulfilled the spring feasts of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits of Barley. On the other hand, doesn't the writer to the Hebrews spend multiple chapters explaining how Yeshua fulfilled the fall feasts, especially Yom HaKippurim? So did he, or didn't he? Ummmm... Yes. Let's turn to the Shavuot as the axis of the feasts to unpack the cycle of prophecy, at least until some future time when prophecy will cease: Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. (1 Co 13:8) This doesn't mean that there will no longer be any gift of prophecy; it simply means it becomes inoperative. The spiritual gifts in the world to come will become unnecessary, for the righteous will be in perfect tune with the realm of the Ruach (Spirit). The challenges that necessitate these gifts will no longer exist. The spiritual pillars that are now commemorated with “time” will be part of our internal clocks, which don't need calendars, just a well-tuned ruach, for in that day, the trees will bear fruit every month even though there will be no sun or moon to signal seasons or even day and night. Days, months, hours, years, and so forth, will form a reality that until now we only experience with the natural “clocks” of Creation. Let Shavuot guide into understanding of how Yeshua's footsteps might sound. Having left behind the salvation of Passover, Shavuot is the appointed time to grow from milk to solid food by Rosh HaShanah. As at Sinai, it requires a willingness to “do and hear,” or receive the Word of Moses and Yeshua. The Ruach enables this process: “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?” (1 Co 3:1-3) For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed [“inexperienced”] to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. (Heb 5:12-13) Paul and the writer to the Hebrews do not expect the non-Jews to whom they write to continue in milk. Jewish tradition says a remnant of the nations desired the Torah when it was offered at Mt. Sinai. In Acts 2 at Shavuot, this desire was satisfied for the proselytes from the nations, and they returned to their nations with the Good News of salvation and covenant. Along with verses from Psalm 119, Psalm 67 is read each day of the counting of the omer to Shavuot. These peoples are to mature to Sukkot: God be gracious to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us—Selah. That Your way may be known on the earth, Your salvation among all nations. Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; for You will judge the peoples with uprightness and guide the nations on the earth. Selah.

In the first section of Understanding the Ruach/Spirit - Part 5, Rabbi Steve Berkson wraps up the idea of the doctrine of the Trinity by going to Luke 4:1, the account of Yeshua being led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Then Rabbi Berkson addresses the notion that some teach saying the Holy Spirit was not before Acts chapter 2. By going through many scriptures he points out the fact that the Ruach haKodesh has been ever present since the beginning of creation. Each one of us has been given a portion of the Spirit of Elohim as our breath of life and consciousness. Understanding the Ruach/Spirit - Part 4 deals mainly with the question, “What is the Holy Spirit”, in Hebrew, Ruach haKodesh or ‘The Spirit of Elohim'. This lesson deals mainly with the idea of the doctrine of the Trinity; that the Holy Spirit, or Ghost as the Trinitarians say, is a separate entity coexistent and coequal with the Father and the Son. Rabbi Steve Berkson continues where we left off in part two on the subject of The Spirit of haSatan vs The Spirit of Elohim as we move into part three. Rabbi Berkson begins in 1 John 5:18-19 where we learn about guarding ourselves and not allowing the “wicked one” to gain a foothold in our lives. We see a definition of the Hebrew phrases ‘Yetzer haRa' or ‘evil inclination' and ‘Yetzer haTov' which is the ‘good inclination'. Then, just as we are about to go to Revelation 12, Rabbi Berkson takes us on a “Rabbi Trail” about the ‘Victim Mentality' which is devastating to success in walking the path that leads to reward and life. In this lesson Rabbi Berkson begins to define the meaning of Ruach haKodesh (Holy Spirit) taking us to Isaiah 55:6-9 where it is written that the ways and thoughts of YHVH are higher than ours. Love and Torah – what’s love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. In Ephesians 5, Rabbi Steve Berkson continues teaching us about how to love each other. Stopping at verse 1 he expounds on becoming imitators of Elohim as dear children. In verse 2 we are exhorted to walk in love as Messiah also loved us, giving of ourselves to others as a gift to Elohim. Do you want to send up a “sweet smelling aroma” to Yahweh? Learn to serve others. In verses 3 and 4 we see a list of behaviors that should not even be named among the Body of Messiah. Rabbi Berkson takes some time to clarify one of those behaviors – uncleanness. What do these behaviors have to do with loving each other? In verse 5 there is something that we are expected to know – what is it we should know? Why should we know it? In verse 6 Rabbi Berkson asks why Paul would write about “empty words”. What are they? Why are we cautioned about them? How have some teachers misconstrued the meaning of “empty words”? How do they affect our inheritance in the Kingdom of Elohim? In verses 7 through 10 Rabbi Berkson asks us the question, “Who are you trying to please?” Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings. Thessalonica was the capital of Macedonia and had a council of a half-dozen officials called ‘politarchs’ governing it. It had a major harbor - an admiralty jurisdiction run by ‘politarchs’ being the commercial center, trading in souls. Our modern political world is fashioned after this idolatrous system: ‘politarchs’, 'admiralty jurisdiction' and the trading in mens souls through a commercial contracts system. Now is the time that the Ruach (Spirit) is leading our people, Israel out of this type of captivity just as the mob falls further into its trap. ACTS is truly a book for our times.

This episode from the beginning of Sukkot starts with Rabbi Steve Berkson taking us to the passage in the Gospel of John, chapter 7, where we see Yeshua Messiah standing up at the day called Shemini Atzerat which finishes the feast, declaring Himself to be the Waters of Life. Rabbi Berkson points out that Messiah said “Anyone who thirsts…” – but does everyone get to drink? From there Rabbi Berkson takes us to John 4:5-15, the story of the woman at the well, where Messiah Yeshua offered Living Water to her and also declared to her, one of only two people, that He was the Messiah. Rabbi Berkson points out the time of day this happened from which he brings a “deeper understanding” as to what the time of day had to do with the story which was the sixth hour of the day. What could be the “hour of man”? From there we go back to Psalm 119, but before he gets into that Rabbi Berkson gives instruction and encouragement in regards to studying the Word. It matters not how you do it – just do it, the way you do it. Then going into Psalm 119 starting in verse 114, Rabbi Berkson reminds us the purpose of taking this psalm verse-by-verse is that you would place yourself in the shoes of King David. You should feel what he felt through the words he wrote. Then you should apply the same love for Torah and place the same value and importance to your walk as he did. Who are the “evil-doers”? How does the Scripture define evil? Rabbi Berkson shows us plainly. Who or what are the “witnesses”? Rabbi Berkson expounds how these impact our lives. Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings. As he begins the text for this teaching in 1 John 1:1, Rabbi Steve Berkson points out that the apostle John confirms all the scriptures that refer to Messiah Yeshua as the Word, and from the mouth of Yeshua as He refers to Himself as the Life, when he says he has looked upon and handled the Word of Life–he was there as the Messiah walked on this earth. As Rabbi Berkson points out, the apostle John emphasizes in the first part of his letter the vertical and horizontal relationships–with our Father and with each other. Can you say that the things you are suffering now because of your faith are not worthy to be compared to the honor (glory) that shall be revealed in you? Who’s the ‘he’ that “searches the hearts”? Is it true that nothing can separate us from the love of Messiah? Romans 10:4 reads that Messiah is the end of the law for righteousness–what does the word ‘end’ mean in that sentence? Understanding the Ruach/Spirit - Part 4 deals mainly with the question, “What is the Holy Spirit”, in Hebrew, Ruach haKodesh or ‘The Spirit of Elohim (YHVH). Rabbi Steve Berkson continues where we left off in part two on the subject of The Spirit of haSatan vs The Spirit of Elohim as we move into part three. Rabbi Berkson begins in 1 John 5:18-19 where we learn about guarding ourselves and not allowing the “wicked one” to gain a foothold in our lives. Rauch is translated spirit, wind or breath most commonly in Scripture.  It is the connecting of the visible and in the invisible as a we cannot see wind, but we see the world effected by the wind.  It is also connected to the word for smell (Re'ach) and reminds us that we need God's Spirit to be a pleasing aroma to the Father.

From where do wars and fighting among you come? The lusts of our flesh are in direct contradiction with the Ruach/Spirit given to us by יהוה/Yahuwah. In His mercy, יהוה/Yahuwah has given us his Royal Torah and empowered us with the grace to walk in it.

Spiritual Power   The word translated as “hovered”, in verse two of chapter one, is “m’rachefet." The root word is “rachaf," and conveys the sense of “shaking,” “moving,” or “fluttering,”[1] as when a bird softly relaxes its flight to alight upon its young. It adequately describes the actions of the Ruach (Spirit) as he lovingly and closely watches over the created substance. How so? Well, this verb, although found three times in Scripture, is defined as “hovering” only one other time in the entire TaNaKH:   “He found his people in desert country, in a howling, wasted wilderness. He protected him and cared for him, guarded him like the pupil of his eye, like an eagle that stirs up her nest, hovers over her young, spreads out her wings, takes them and carries them as she flies.” (Deuteronomy 32:10-11)   This beautiful illustration of the protective power of the Spirit, in relation to his children, Am Yisra’el (People of Isra’el), as they traveled through the wilderness reminds me of the same Spirit that hovered over the waters at the beginning of creation. The word translated “hovers”, in our above verse, is the same root as the one used in Genesis 1:2, “rachaf”. In fact, to strengthen the connection between the two applications, the Haftarah to B’resheet is Isaiah 42:5-43:10. A “haftarah” is a prescribed reading portion from the prophets and writings, chosen to compliment the Torah portion. In this passage, we read in the opening seventeen Hebrew words, a summary of the first chapter in Genesis:   “Thus says God, ADONAI, who created the heavens and spread them out, who stretched out the earth and all that grows from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk on it….”   Omniscience at Work   Unlike the evolutionist models, we find in the Torah, a Creator that is intimately interested in his creation. He doesn’t just whip something together, via cosmic dust and proton-charged molecules, and then abandon it to “evolve” on its own. His beginnings, as stated above, carry with them, meaning and divine purpose.   Reading further into our parashah, HaShem goes on to create:   1.    Light and Darkness on the first day 2.    Firmament and sky on the second day 3.    Dry land and seas, grass, plants and trees on the third day 4.    Stars, planets, sun and moon on the fourth day 5.    Marine life and birds, livestock and crawling animals on the fifth day 6.    Male and female on the sixth day 7.    A time of rest and refreshing on the seventh day   The sequence of events is not randomly initiated like the evolutionary models suppose. Everything is done with a super-intellect at the helm. Our galaxy is not just spinning along, drifting through the universe with no one to chart its course. Our LORD, ADONAI Tzva’ot (the LORD of Hosts) was there at its birth, and he will be there when it comes to an end, orchestrating every minute detail. When all of his creation has run it’s chosen course, he will be there to facilitate another new beginning. I have spent quite a bit of time discussing the details of creation versus evolution, and the consequences of choosing the wrong system. However, believe it or not, that was not the primary thrust of my commentary. I want to briefly talk about the decision to sin, from a different angle. This brings me to the second part of my commentary: man’s choices.

Our devil lives to please only that which is carnal/materilistic and not that which is spiritual and the holy scriptures given to we to connect we back to the source of ONENESS tells we in, Yochanan 4:23-24 23 But a sha’ah is coming, and now is, when those of the true avodas kodesh will worship HaAv in the Ruach Hakodesh and in Emes, for indeed [Elohim] HaAv is seeking such to worship Him. 24 Hashem is Ruach (Spirit) and it is necessary for the ones worshiping Him to worship in Ruach and Emes. www.biblegateway.com

The objective has been to render null and void barriers the enemy would attempt to impose upon you, and to empower you to receive birthings ... powerful, new ideas of the Spirit ... and then to implement these ideas. The enemy of all righteousness wants to impose barriers in your life and thereby restrict, as well as constrict, your productivity in the Spirit. These barriers can be mental, physical, demoniacal, and psychological. They can be real or imagined. The enemy may utilize people, demons, lies aimed at your mind, conditions, or relationships. Sometimes these relationships may even involve other believers. If you know Yeshua the Messiah and are baptized in His wonderful Ruach (Spirit), you do not have to succumb to these oppositions and attacks. In 40 years of service I have found that many God's people are clandestinely held back from their maximum potential by not only a lack of stretching out in faith but also by focusing on the negatives instead of the positives. They are in defensive mode. Just as in sports, the BEST defense is a GOOD OFFENSE! On the cross, Yeshua became a curse for us that we might receive the blessings of Abraham. Notice, the Messiah of Israel became a curse for us that we might be blessed. He took the curse that originated with Adam in the Garden of Eden. He took ALL curses that are encompassed by that disobedience of our first father: the first man, the first Adam. The root of ALL curses on Planet Earth originated with the sin of disobedience by Adam in the Garden of Eden when he disobeyed God and obeyed Satan. When Adam did this, he relinquished his rulership of Planet Earth and yielded it to the Evil One. Notice, there is NOT a curse on earth that does NOT originate as a result of that ONE ACT of disobedience! In Torah, Genesis Chapter 3, we read of a prophecy concerning the Seed of the first woman, Eve. Her seed would defeat, destroy, and subjugate the tempter, Satan, who deceived Adam in the Garden of Eden. This prophecy was pertaining to the 2nd Adam, the Son of God, who would come to delete the curse and install the blessing(s) which were already programmed before the foundation of the world: the BLESSINGS originating from GOD. You were redeemed with the precious atonement BLOOD of Messiah, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, who truly was FOREORDAINED BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, but was manifest in these last times for you. The BLESSING was PLANNED FOR YOU before God created the world. The universe was created for Planet earth, and Planet Earth was created for YOU! The ROOT of ALL blessing(s) ON EARTH - and ultimately in Heaven - was purchased by Messiah FOR YOU on the cross stake through His shed BLOOD and thereby deleting the curse. Through His resurrection He installed the blessing. It was the first man, Adam, who initiated the curse through DISOBEDIENCE to God. It took a man (the God man) to delete the curse through OBEDIENCE to God so that we (mankind) could be BLESSED. In the window of time between the fall of man in the garden with the resultant CURSE - and the death and resurrection of Messiah with the resultant LEGAL installation of the BLESSING - God made a WAY for man to APPROPRIATE His blessing(s). That WAY was the same process by which men, women, and children appropriate God’s blessing(s) today: the WAY of FAITH. Enoch, Abraham, Sarah, Deborah, Joseph, Moses, Elijah, Elisha, Daniel ... and many others ... appropriated the blessing(s) through faith. Read Hebrews Chapter 11. In Genesis 12:1-3 God told Abraham: "And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you; and in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed." Later, in Genesis 22:18 God told Abraham, "In thy seed shall all nations of the earth be blessed. Because you have obeyed my voice." The SEED of Abraham (the Messiah Yeshua) became a curse FOR US that we might be blessed with faithful Abraham. The SEED (Messiah Yeshua) broke ALL the curse(s) ... even the ROOT of the curse(s) imposed in the garden of Eden with the resultant sin, death, effects of witchcraft, sins of the father, generational curse(s) ... so that ALL people could be FREE from the curse(s) and be recipients of the blessing(s). "Messiah has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for It is written, Cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree, so that the BLESSING of Abraham might come on the non-Jews (Gentiles) through Yeshua Ha Meschiach." (Brit Chadashah: Galatians 3:13-14) Romans 4:13 tells us "The promise that he (Abraham) should be the heir of the world, was NOT to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of FAITH." Just as God works through FAITH, the enemy of your soul works through FEAR. The MIRACLES of God ... salvation, healing, power, commissioning ... all work through FAITH. The evil of satan ... witchcraft, disease, spiritual impotence, confusion ... all work through fear. If you haven’t already, read or listen to the edition titled "The Covering." The BLOOD of Messiah is your covering! The BLOOD will protect you from the works of the enemy. The BLOOD of Christ is living. The life of God is in THE BLOOD. The enemy can NOT come beyond the blood line. In Revelation 12:11 we read: "They overcame him (the devil) by the BLOOD of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death." If the BLOOD is your covering, you are protected. Speak (declare) the BLOOD over yourself, your family, your property, and everything the Lord has placed in your hands and the domains over which you preside. In the Torah, Moses told Aaron: "Take your censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and lay incense thereon, and carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun." (Numbers 16:46) The Hebrew word here used for atonement is kaphar, and means to cover, to cancel, to make atonement, to disannul.In the Torah we read: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul (by reason of the life)."  (Leviticus 17:11) It is the BLOOD of MESSIAH ... the one time, supreme, FINAL sacrifice to God for the souls of men ... that atones for your soul. It covers you and secures THE BLESSING. A good personal friend of mine, Rachmiel Frydland, who is with the Lord now, would sneak into the Warsaw ghetto during World War II. Rachmiel was Jewish and he would sneak into the camp and declare the Gospel and then sneak back out. He prayed with many of his Jewish brethren who received Yeshua as their Messiah before they were murdered: some the very next day after he was there! I had the privilege to be in his home several times and to have wonderful fellowship with him. Rachmiel knew the importance of the BLOOD of Jesus. Do not worry about any generational curses or curses from the bloodline of your relatives and forefathers. BREAK THEM with the BLOOD of Messiah! Do not fear about some witch or someone placing a curse on you ... fear is a tool of the enemy. The Holy Bible says, The curse causeless shall NOT come. If you have done something wrong then confess it to God, ask for forgiveness and cover yourself with the HOLY BLOOD of MESSIAH. You are God’s property and the BLOOD of MESSIAH is your COVERING if you will declare it so in faith. Enjoin the blood of the covenant. Instruct THE BLOOD to be applied to yourself and situations BY FAITH. Prohibit the enemy and his people or demons from performing an action against you or your loved ones by your SPOKEN injunction of FAITH. It is a legal injunction purchased by the Lord Jesus the Christ (Yeshua Ha Meschiach) on the cross stake and imposed by your faith. ATTACH The Blood, JOIN The Blood, IMPOSE The Blood to yourself, your loved ones, and your situation. Request of the Father in Heaven to cover you and your situation with the BLOOD of MESSIAH. In the name of Yeshua (Jesus) charge verbally the enemy AND his power to be broken off your life and in your situation. It is a direct command with authority. You have the POWER in the name of Yeshua to exercise authoritative or dominating control or influence over the devil and his works of darkness. Yeshua purchased this power for you, and commissioned you with this apostolic power to go: 1. Preach and teach the Good News; 2. Heal the sick, and 3. Cast out demons. Be FREE from doubt; believe in the abilities and power the Lord Jesus has purchased for you by His death and resurrection! You have been granted this power inherently by THE BLESSING from the administrative unit of the throne of Heaven. This is POWER delegated from Heaven to you! The blessings of Abraham are yours.
