We are so busy in our life that we forget the tough time of our life.We move on. During lockdown, we have forgotten that small shopkeepers provided us groceries. We are their bread and butter, so we should not forget our tough time, when they were there for us. We should go to them to buy things.
In this episode, Bob'nJoyce share a list of OD values created by a team Joyce worked with several years ago. The list resonated with them but what matters more is if they ring true to you. These values are not exclusive to OD practitioners and apply to all of us who lead and we all lead at something. You probably won't find these values on the ODN website or in an academic leadership article. This list is borne out of hard work, determination, and yes, screwing up. Our hope is after listening, you take a moment to reflect on the values important to doing your best work. Here are a few of ours: Embrace humor. Don't take yourself too seriously and know when you are up on your high horse. Reside on the boundary. Know when you are kissing ass and betraying your work. Shrug when you screw up. Come on in. Grab a snack. Welcome!

Get the new book - https://designingthemind.org/becoming More about Ryan here - https://designingthemind.org/philosophy/ Takeaways The process of designing and changing one's mind is essential for personal growth and well-being. Virtues, ethics, and values are crucial for living a good life and experiencing deep fulfillment. Suffering is not necessary for happiness, but it can sometimes lead to personal growth and meaning. Taking small steps and focusing on virtue domains can help individuals become the person they admire. Community and support are important for personal development and overcoming challenges. Difficult times can be overcome with the support of community and mentors. Understanding evolutionary psychology can provide insights into self-esteem and well-being. The sociometer theory suggests that self-esteem serves as a fitness indicator in social and sexual selection. The concept of self involves a balance between self-acceptance and self-improvement. Values and beliefs play a significant role in society and can influence individual and collective well-being. Self-compassion and self-acceptance are important for personal growth and happiness. How to Define Your Life Values As you stroll through life, you will find opportunities that will present you with a VALUE choice. Your response speaks volumes about your character. There's no right or wrong. Only your inner voice guides you in your destiny's direction. One selection moves you away. Another moves you closer to the person you want to be. Values are your GPS to navigate life—rules you choose to follow. Honesty, integrity, family-focused life, and work-life balance are all examples of positive Values. Others are not so positive. My number one Value is to do my best to do the right thing based on my rules. If I mess up, I say, "I'm sorry," and try again. Something to think about. Learn more about your ad choices. Showing UpKristin has built a really supportive community based on her value of simply showing up. She has become known for her stance on lifelong learning, and having incredible live conversations with people to learn more about what makes each of us tick. The idea of pursuing self-awareness as a lifelong goal is something that Kristin really understands. We talked about pursuing a career in acting, having the humility to focus on her true values in life, how to get started as a content creator, what it was like to become a stand-up comedian, and some of her core memories in life. All of this leads to some pretty incredible wisdom that we can all benefit from.Become A Content CreatorKristin shared the main thing she thinks that holds people back is worrying about the results. If we stay in the present moment and create content that is in line with our values, then good things happen. We shouldn't get stuck inside our own thoughts about how good, or bad we are as a creator. We shouldn't be comparing ourselves to anyone else. We should just continue to show up for our audience and put the work in.Kristin went into stand-up comedy in her fifties because it's something she always thought of trying, she knew it would be a challenge that brought about healthy fear and she loves hearing people laugh. She really stresses the importance of trying things out too. Over time, the more things we try, the closer and closer we'll get to being in alignment with our life's purpose and then the content creation will come more and more naturally.7 Tips To Live Your Best LifeEveryone in the world is trying to be someone else, but the greatest gift is the ability to just be yourself.Don't worry about cliques, fitting in, or comparing yourself to others.Strive to figure out who you are, not who anyone else wants you to be.Life will be boring and stressful if you don't build it for yourself.Focus on individuality and confidence. If you are a lifelong learner in those two areas you will live your best life.Remember that emotions, especially fear and sadness, are not only “o.k” but they are really valuable. If a certain path isn't for you, whether it's a job, sport, activity, or school, it's no big deal, live in the moment and keep figuring it out for yourself.Don't make decisions because they are what other people did. Learn from others, gather evidence and clues, but ultimately make your own decisions.Memorable Quotes“Everyone in the world is trying to be someone else, but the greatest gift is the ability to just be yourself.” “Don't follow the whole crowd of cars in traffic, instead take a left, or a right and enjoy the journey, you never know what you might find.”“Kids are little people with stresses, fears, and goals too. Just because we are adults out there in the big bad world doesn't mean that we have more important, or more serious stresses, fears, and goals than our kids.”“In any relationship, you can't have someone else validate you. You need to validate yourself.”Guest Bio“Kristin Being Kristin” is a mom and wife by day Bartender and comedian at night.Whether she's pouring drinks, or solving people's problems with humor and brutal honesty, she uses Heart, Humor and Sass to share a little inspiration. She has core values of showing up and lightening up to laugh. She became quite popular after being a guest on Tea with Gary Vee, and since has created a live interview show, coached people in life and podcasting, and continued to create content that can inspire every day people to believe in themselves.FOLLOW KRISTINInstagram - @kristinbeingkristinYouTube - @KristinbeingKristinFOLLOW JUSTIN (JustTries)Website - JustTriesHOMEInstagram - @JustTriesYouTube - Just TriesTwitter - @JustTries_Tiktok - @justtriesPinterest - JustTriesFacebook - Just TriesCONNECT WITH JUST KEEP LEARNINGWebsite - JKLHOMEInstagram - @JustKeepLearning.CaTiktok - @justkeeplearning.caFacebook - Just Keep LearningFree Group - JKL Goal Setting CommunityWe appreciate you being here! "We need to raise up another generation of pro-life people. People that are committed to speaking up for the unborn, speaking up for those who can't speak for themselves. And so we need to start early with teaching them those ideas." Stacia McKeever Crafted by God is a new Christian book designed to teach children ages 7 and up the value of life. This interactive, oversized book is biblically and scientifically accurate and helps parents ensure that their children know the simple but profound truth - that they are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God, by God. Co-authors, Dr. Georgia Purdom and Stacia McKeever, join the Master Books podcast to talk about how this book teaches in a kid-friendly way, the facts about the developmental stages of an unborn baby, when gender is biologically determined, and more God-honoring truths about the value of a life. The Creation Museum Show Highlights 1:46 - Co-authors of Crafted by God, Dr. Georgia Purdom and Stacia McKeever, share their job roles at Answers in Genesis. 3:32 - Stacia explains why she and Dr. Purdom chose to write this book together. 4:38 - "We need to raise up another generation of pro-life people. People that are committed to speaking up for the unborn, speaking up for those who can't speak for themselves. And so we need to start early with teaching them those ideas." Stacia McKeever 5:13 - Stacia explores the interactive aspects of the book, Crafted by God. These are designed to keep the child engaged in the facts and make them more memorable. 6:23 - Dr. Purdom discusses the foldout timeline of the development of an unborn child. 9:35 - Stacia discusses how the book teaches the value of life. The book brings out that people with special needs, differences in skin color and language are still of great value to God because they are made in His image. 12:43 - Dr. Purdom discusses how the book teaches children about how gender is determined according to the Bible and science. She explains that the phrase "gender assignment" is not a valid concept. 16:18 - Dr. Purdom discusses her adoption of a daughter from China. 17:20 - Stacia talks about being an adoptive mother and how adoption is presented to the reader in Crafted by God. Abortion is also covered so children will know truth and how to respond to the lies of our culture. The idea of adoption in today's world is tied back to our adoption, as believers, into God's family. 20:50 - Dr. Purdom prays over the listeners.

What is Jesus worth to you? How would you value your relationship with him?The way we live our lives gives us the answer - how much time we spend in prayer and Bible Study and in the presence of God, how much energy we give to church engagement, how much money we give to the mission of God. These are all good indicators of how much we value our relationship with Jesus. In this podcast, we think about Mary anointing Jesus with oil - and the reaction of Judas, who thought it a waste of money. We think about whether we have a Mary mindset or a Judas mindset ourselves.

What does it mean to be the leader of your life? Well, to most people, they think that they have to have a title, a team, or someone appointing us as a leader in some sort of fashion. In my opinion, that's not what makes you a leader, and I've spoken openly about this on my blog and my podcast for almost two years now. I talk often about being a leader before any of those moments happen to you… before you get the promotion to manager or director or VP and so on. When you step into your leadership now, that's what makes you a leader. But, how do we do that? And what does that mean to “step into our leadership?” In my opinion, it means to be the leader of your life. You can't effectively lead others if you are not already leading the life that YOU want to live. That doesn't mean that you must have it all figured out. We are all figuring it out along the way. It does mean that you have to know what is important to you as an individual and ensure that you are applying those tools into your own life. So, how do you know if you are the leader of your life? Or how do you become the leader of your life? Over a few episodes and blog posts I am going to talk about the important factors and tools that help you become the leader of your life. Let's start with the core and the foundational basics that you need to understand about yourself to become the leader of your life. I've talked about the importance of purpose, values, mission, and vision as far as an organization goes and how important it is for you as a leader to drive these factors. But, these elements are even more important for you as the leader of your life. Your purpose, values, mission, and vision will shape you as a leader in every aspect of your life and you can carry that into your “title leadership” roles too. It also helps you realize whether or not you align with clients, organizations, or anyone that you will work with or hire. Most of us struggle with purpose. I know I have several times in my life and in my opinion, I think it's important to know that purpose is something that can evolve in life. Your life purpose will always be evolving and will be a result of your values, mission, and vision. Most of us believe we must find this great purpose for us being on this planet. In my opinion, yes, we all have a purpose but you can have several. That's why as the leader of your life you need to dive in and explore what's important to you, your values. I encourage everyone to evaluate the most important values first. When you are examining who you are, I think it's imperative to ask yourself what values are the most important to you. This is the core of you and how you will lead your life. Here are some of the most common values: Achievement Adventure Courage Creativity Dependability Determination Friendship Health Honesty Independence Integrity Intelligence Justice Kindness Learning Love Peace Perfection Security Simplicity Sincerity Spontaneity Success Understanding Wealth And there are many more. The best way to figure out what is important to you and what your important values are is to ask yourself some questions. What makes me feel good? (If you like to win awards and it makes you feel happy, achievement might be one of your top values). What makes me angry? (For example, when people are dishonest to you, you get really upset. Honesty is probably a value for you). What type of career do you have or want to have? (For example, you like seeking out help for those who have been wronged, then justice is more than likely a value for you). Where do we get our values and our beliefs and when do we change them? A person's values and beliefs are the foundation of who we are as a person. We learn and grasp every single way of life throughout our childhood and when we start going to school, we start noticing the differences in the way our peers do things. Our actual social life begins when we enter the workforce.

Today, we will have an insightful conversation with Andrew Newman, a brilliant children's storytime book author, about mindful practices with your children, including meditation and creativity. He will talk about teaching your children mindfulness, core life values, and much more. 3 Key Points: Sitting as a parent is an immense mixture of responsibility and power. Show our kids what we want them to learn. Teach children mindfulness at an early stage, use bedtime stories to be with them fully in the last 20 minutes of their day to help them discharge their daily struggles as they transition to sleep. Meditation practices help children to slow down as they transition to sleep. Make it as a spiritual practice, give as much of that loving presence as you can. Episode Highlights: 06:08- The last 20 minutes of the night creates an impact on what's going on in our brain. 07:24- Use the transition points of sleep and wake in the first 30 minutes of the day to sit us up. 08:38- Teach kids mindfulness early so that they don't have to unlearn a bunch of stuff like adults. 16:12- In the moment of surrender, something magical happens. 17:21- Problem can't be solved from the same level of consciousness that we created a problem with. Have a space for a new level of consciousness. 19:00- The therapeutic relationship is learning one's triggers and learning how to be non-reactive when activated. 20:30- Therapeutic relationship is the same aspect as the parent-child relationship. 23:21- The our breathing practice- I breathe for me, I breathe for you, I breathe for us, I breathe for all that surrounds us. 29:26- Andrew's morning practice helps the stream of consciousness come out for him to go into the space of openness. 31:32- Andrew's struggles from the business standpoint relates to the period of surrender. 40:50-The power of a story shifts us from a perspective where we hate to hate, thereby creating a safe place. 43:50- Anticipate challenges in time and translational speed of kids, be encouraging of slowing down. 45:00- Use the breathing technique to slow kids' systems down. 45:21- Model to our kids what we want them to learn. 45:25- Kids are designed to seek love, and the fastest way to get love is to mimic the person who gives them love. 49:10- Andrew gave his message to his 18 y/o self, who needed encouragement. Tweetable Quotes: “The power of the story is that it shifts us from this perspective where we hate to hate. That shift is one of those mechanisms of creating safety.. “- Andrew Newman “We don't have to fight until we reach the point of surrender. We can choose to surrender earlier and ask for help because, in the moment of surrender, something magical happens. “- Andrew Newman “If we think the same way we have always been thinking, we will get the same result. We need something new to influence ourselves and change the course of our lives.“- Andrew Newman Resources Mentioned: Justin Francisco: LinkedIn | Website Andrew Newman: Conscious Bedtime Stories | LinkedIn | Instagram

Ours is a divided culture. We each see things from our own perspective. Too often there are values we live at home, different ones at work or school, and still a different set when we come together to worship. They are to be with us, enmeshed in our whole life. This week one of our #fhcTAKEAWAYS asked: Where are you participating in the life of our church family? What do you think about what Andy had to say about member participation? “This value makes it clear that a non-mission driven, non-attending, non-serving, non-giving member is an oxymoron”. In this podcast, I share with you an exercise on how to determine your core life values.Through this process, we are going to discover whether your current values are propelling you forward, or holding you back. Our values form the foundation of our lives; they determine the decisions that we make and the direction that our lives take. In the words of John C. Maxwell, “Your core values are the deeply held beliefs that authentically describe your soul.” The first step is to acknowledge and take responsibility for the life that you have created. If your values aren't in alignment with your vision, there will be resistance, in the form of a tremendous amount of push, effort, and willpower. Alternatively, when you align with what you truly desire in life, you will experience more ease, less effort, and a greater sense of fulfillment. If you want to determine your core life values, start by figuring out what's REALLY important to you. Once you do, you can then choose beliefs and habits that ensure that your life aligns with those values. As life changes so do your values, and that is OK. The important thing is that you are aware and take the steps that are necessary in order to bring yourself closer to living in alignment with your true self. Roy E. Disney said it best - “It's not hard to make decisions once you know what your values are.” Are you ready to determine your core life values?
