The 5th and final entry in the Critters saga, some 27 years after the previous. Does "Aunt Dee" rise to the ranks of a Lori Strode of Sally Hardesty for one last ride? Does the late entry of a Mogwai like creature help? These answers are "no" of course, but still fun to talk about.

While this movie had an interesting story, it has several moments that are hard to understand. Leatherface is back in what is apparently the ninth installment of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. This "requel" does away with all the sequels and brings back the legacy characters of Leatherface, Sally Hardesty (the lone survivor from the first one), and the voice of John Larroquette as the narrator. The film didn't feel like Texas and was in fact shot in Bulgaria. While certainly grisly, we'll let you know how it holds up to the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974). The 83-minute Netflix film stars Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Olwen Fouere, Jacob Latimore, and Alice Krige.

The 1974 horror film, THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE, is arguably one of the most iconic psychological thrillers of all time.  It is considered a classic film in this day and age.  The movie had a supporting character breakout in the iconic villain Leatherface.  Since its original release there has been numerous sequels and even remakes.  Now in 2022, the latest in the series, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (2022), was dropped on Netflix. Lila and her sister Melody follow their friends, Dante and Ruth, travel to an old deserted town that has been bought up by Dante.  His plans are to make it a commune and home to similar progressive thinking people.  When Dante discovers a handful of people that still live in the town, he tries to evict them which leads to a chain reaction that sets off a murder spree reminiscent to the one from the original film in the franchise. The movie is directed by David Blue Garcia from a script by Chris Thomas Devlin.  Fede Alvarez, the director of EVIL DEAD (2013), produces.  The film brings back the iconic  characters of both Leatherface and Sally Hardesty from the original 1974 movie.  Dark Discussions takes a look at this new movie and gives their thoughts.

There's never been a shortage of ideas when it came to making more sequels, reboots or remakes of Tobe Hooper's 1974 classic “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” but the latest incarnation didn't start taking shape until 2018 when Legendary Pictures obtained the rights to the iconic horror franchise. Following the success of his “Evil Dead” remake along with the breakout hit “Don't Breathe,” Fede Alvarez got interested in the project and signed on as a producer with newcomer Chris Thomas Devlin handling the script. Production started in Bulgaria in 2020 but the studio was unimpressed by the initial footage so director David Blue Garcia was hired to take over the project. Alvarez eventually revealed details surrounding the plot, which would serve as a direct sequel to the original film, with an older Leatherface being unleashed on a whole new group of people crazy enough to wake him from his murderous slumber….In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we're going to make sure we've got our keys and the power tools are ready to go as we review the 2022 sequel “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”…

Also also, what the hell is up with movie villains dressing like women to portray being deranged? What is that all about? Hold that thought, I'm going to start another pot of coffee. 100 FOR A HUNDRED!!! 93. THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (974, dir. Tobe Hooper) One of the originators of the slasher genre, Texas Chainsaw Massacre set a standard that has been often imitated throughout the decades. The film gave us horror icon Leatherface as he terrorizes an unsuspecting group of young adults through various set pieces. The idea of "the final girl" is also born here as Sally Hardesty scrambles to escape Leatherface. The centerpiece of the film revolves around a harrowing dinner scene that equally fascinates and horrifies. Even for those who aren't a slasher fan, Texas Chainsaw Massacre deserves a watch to respect the film that ignited generations of blood and gore.

The film which you are about to see is an account of the tragedy which befell a group of five youths, in particular Sally Hardesty and her invalid brother, Franklin. It is all the more tragic in that they were young. But, had they lived very, very long lives, they could not have expected nor would they have wished to see as much of the mad and macabre as they were to see that day. For them an idyllic summer afternoon drive became a nightmare. The events of that day were to lead to the discovery of one of the most bizarre crimes in the annals of American history, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. _______ Please help spread the word and leave us ratings and reviews on itunes, Google Play, Stitcher, and YouTube! Hey guys! Welcome to episode deuce-deuce of the Grave Plot Podcast! We start the show off on a somber note, discussing the recent suicide of Robin Williams. Robin was a bright light in this world and we're sad to see it go out. If you or someone you know is battling depression, please contact someone. We give you all the resources, and you can even contact us. We'll listen. Unfortunately, that's not the only death we talk about. In Horror Business, we discuss the passing of Marilyn Burns, best known as Sally Hardesty from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Speaking of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, we give you all the updates on the new prequel, Leatherface. We then go on to discuss the latest on Ghostbusters 3. There's good news and bad news. Speaking of trilogies, Blumhouse and Radius are set to release three movies from the Duplass brothers called Creep. We break it down. Want the latest on the Evil Dead universe? Well so does everyone else, including Jane Levy, the star of the remake. Is there going to be a sequel? A TV show? No one knows for sure. What we do know is that it finally appears like we'll be seeing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hit the big screen. We tell you who's in it and where it's at in the process. There's also a pair of news stories about Resident Evil. The first is about a potential TV show called Arklay based on the series of games. The second is the news that the original GameCube version of the game is being remade in HD. Speaking of video games, we also bring you up to date on the new Silent Hills. Finally, we tell you the latest casting updates for American Horror Story: Freakshow and tell you why we are no longer looking forward to The Green Inferno. We then move on to the reviews. First up is The Purge: Anarchy, the sequel to 2013 movie about the one night a year where anything goes. The sequel is basically the same shit. Our second review is the new possession/crime/thriller film Deliver Us From Evil. It stars the Hulk and Jeff Winger and sparks a conversation about exorcisms in film. So pop us in your ear balls and enjoy another thrilling episode of The Grave Plot Podcast! National Suicide Prevention Lifeline - 1-800-273-8255
