Fr. Mike examines the relationship between the Church and non-Christian religions. He discusses that while there is some degree of goodness and truth in every religion, the fullness of truth exists in the Catholic Church. Fr. Mike concludes with a reflection on the statement from the early Church Fathers that “outside the Church there is no salvation.” Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 839-848. Series: The Parables of JesusPart 1: The Two DebtorsSermon by: Bro. Chris CarterScripture: Luke 7:36-50Bro. Chris Carter's sermon contrasts two characters: Simon the Pharisee, marked by pride and judgment, and an unnamed 'sinful woman,' whose actions show humility, love, and gratitude. Through this parable, we learn about qualities that define a true house of worship:Brokenness: The woman acknowledges her need for forgiveness, while Simon's pride blinds him to his own faults.Extravagant Love: The woman pours out her love for Jesus, in contrast to Simon's lack of hospitality. Her actions reflect a heart transformed by forgiveness.Forgiveness and Salvation: Jesus forgives the woman, illustrating that faith makes redemption possible for all.
Tom Speicher preaches from Psalm 103. Psalm 103 is a call to worship with three parts: 1) An internal call to worship. 2) An external call to worship. 3) A universal call to worship.

Pastor Darren guides us through the two-fold "sign of Jonah", in Jesus showing up in the flesh, preaching the Good News of the Kingdom of God, and foreshadowing his Death and Resurrection. We also have the great responsibility to choose to believe, repent, and respond to the gift of Salvation Jesus offers - or remain justly condemned on the Day of Judge of Judgement. Will we talk to others of the difference Jesus makes in our lives?

The salvation Jesus brings. Type: Sermon
Sermon for the Second Midweek Service in Advent Rev. Richard Willsea December 8, 2021
In your journey towards sexual integrity, it matters what you're looking at, it matters what you're looking for. Focus on the Cross! In this episode, we hope to encourage you to fix your focus on the Cross. As you're doing the work to become whole, to break old patterns, to make new choices; set your eyes on Jesus on the Cross. Don't let shame or hopelessness take your eyes off the Salvation Jesus is offering you from the Cross. Focusing on the Cross with you!Highlights:It matters what we're looking at. It matters what we're looking for, and that's absolutely true in our journey towards sexual integrity. If you're a person who struggles with sexual sin, or you know somebody who does, I want to commend to you the importance of focusing your life around Jesus on the Cross.Keeping the Cross in front of us always acknowledges for us and reveals to us that we are not done yet, that there is forgiveness for us, that there is a place where our sin and failure goes. There's a place where our shame belongs.Extras:Ephesians 5, Song of Solomon, Genesis 2 and 3 - For more on Jesus giving his body to his bride, the Church.Fleming Rutledge “The Crucifixion: Understanding the Death of Jesus Christ ”For more on this topic, check our latest article Failing or Thriving, Eyes on the CrossTranscription:Full Transcription Available hereSupport Becoming Whole

Welcome back to The Shining Light Podcast! This first episode was focused on who Jesus Christ is and gives 3 key characteristics of Him: - Jesus as the Son of God - Jesus as Salvation - Jesus as Love Who is Jesus to you?

ONE THING: The price Jesus paid on the Cross is worth our full devotion to God. 1 Peter 1:17-19 Christians know what we were / are ransomed from something terrible to something tremendous. CONTEXT: Sanctification is all that God does in you and through you to create you into the image of Jesus Christ. SALVATION: Jesus gave His life for the forgiveness of your sins. He made this way through God's judgment so you won't not have to pay the price of sin that He has already paid for through the Crucifixion. Be saved by grace through faith. Everyone's deeds will be judged by God the Father, comforting thought of urgency. Something is futile when it is outside of God's will, the example of Jesus Christ and the leading of the Holy Spirit. (Bible a tremendous way forward) Perfect, sacrificial, Messiah = He paid the price for our redemption by His precious blood. To which we all should respond... by conducting ourselves in a way that brings God joy, glory and help other people want a relationship with Jesus.

Max is joined by his first Dutch guest in the new spotlight segment. Jos Van Huysse is on staff at The Father's House working with media creation, worship and Life Recovery Ministries. He shares about his skepticism upon visiting Oroville and why he felt drawn to return anyway. Now five years later, he has the privilege of helping others along the same path. After Jos, Steve and Max talk about their shared love of baseball, in honor of the MLB trade deadline, before moving on to talk about their shared love of Jesus. Specifically, the conversation centers on what Jesus has to say about salvation. When reading Jesus, it can be tempting to gloss over teachings that challenge our preconceived notions or even confuse us. Yet Steve faces them head on. Instead of bringing our theology to Jesus for Him to approve, we need to go to Jesus to inform our theology. Legalism is a major opponent to the Gospel in our culture. The Salvation Jesus offered the world by dying on the cross for our sins is not something to be added to with good works, traditions, or self-righteousness. The gift of grace is by faith alone in Christ alone. Enjoy this message as Pastor Jeff Mueller leads through a study of Jesus teaching against legalism and directs peoples hearts away from themselves and towards God.
The author of Hebrews writes to explain that because Jesus knows us, is one of us, and is for us, He is the one able to liberate us from the pain and suffering we live in every day. “[Jesus became] like his brothers and sisters in every respect, so that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make a sacrifice of atonement for the sins of the people” (Heb. 2:17). Karoline Lewis writes that “Through Jesus' death, death itself, even the fear of death, will be destroyed.” Death itself destroyed. What then do we have? Life. Abundant life.

When people think of the Gospel they often default to the Gospel of Salvation - Jesus came to Earth to die on a cross to take us all to Heaven. While there is truth in this, this is not the full truth. The Gospel of the Kingdom is what Jesus preached - this is the bigger picture of why He came to Earth. Not on a rescue mission but on a restoration mission. Not primarily to take us to Heaven but to bring Heaven to Earth. - TIM STEVENSON
