CCA Introducing continues with a takeover by R Talitha Samuel, an independent cultural producer and editor based in New Delhi, India. R's takeover, entitled Samuel, meaning 'God Has Heard', takes place on CCA's Instagram and Spotify on Sunday 24 March 2024. Below, you can find a description of the takeover: 'I had a totally different plan in mind for this visual and audio project when I initially started out. However, just before I was all set to hit record, my grandfather got very sick and passed away. This was during the month of December 2023, and it naturally changed the course of not only my life and understanding of myself but also of this work. I wanted to explore why I do what I do in terms of my approach to audio as a medium, mediated through the literal voices of members of my community and my family. Now, my takeover, Samuel, meaning 'God Has Heard', composed of audio recordings, old Tamil hymns and voice notes will dive into the warp and weft of grief, collective prayer, sound as infrastructure, recording as witness and what it means to be a man.'

Dealing with a boss who constantly believes they are sick or on the verge of a medical emergency can be challenging, to say the least. Their constant need for constant need for reassurance and attention can be emotionally draining and time-consuming, taking a toll on your own productivity as well as your personal life. In this webinar, we discuss a Bible character who was mentally draining to Samuel (Samuel was Israel's first prophet). In fact, even after Samuel's death this guy was so insecure that he consulted a medium and told her to raise Samuel's spirit so he could seek Samuel's advice. Can you imagine your boss being able to contact you even after you're dead? Listen to the podcast for the outcome of this fiasco.

The Brainy Business | Understanding the Psychology of Why People Buy | Behavioral Economics
In this episode of The Brainy Business podcast, host Melina Palmer interviews Samuel Salzer, founder of Habit Weekly, a newsletter that curates the latest in behavioral science research and news. Salzer discusses the importance of creating content that people actually want (imagine that!) and the value of putting good things out into the world. He also shares insights on building habits and behavior change, and how businesses can apply these principles to their marketing and customer engagement strategies. Overall, the episode highlights the power of behavioral science in shaping our daily lives and the importance of staying up-to-date with the latest research and trends. Show Notes: [00:40] Today's episode is a refresh of my conversation with Samuel Salzer, founder of Habit Weekly. [02:06] It is so fun to see how much things have grown at Habit Weekly in these three years. They have a full team of people now, and they've been doing their awards for a few years as well. I was honored to have been a winner in the inaugural edition, and a finalist in multiple categories every year. [03:29] Samuel shares about himself, his background, and how he started working in behavioral science. He has always been an entrepreneur and started his first business at 16. [05:02] He found human decision-making fascinating. [06:44] He wanted to learn more about what we can do to support people in making behavioral changes in their lives. [08:42] For his work he focuses on how to scale behavioral change. [09:56] You are succeeding if you help create value for your users and customers, understand them better, and help find a good solution for their problems. [10:38] Whether we like it or not, behavior is quite complex. We are complex beings living in complex environments. [13:06] Most businesses look at reducing friction in their customer journeys. Sometimes increasing friction is a good idea too. [16:06] We are really good at creating stories and narratives in our minds to support whatever thing we really want to do. [18:28] Just the simple shift of taking the word from reward to consequence makes it feel heavier in a way that can change behavior. [19:39] Each individual choice matters. [20:50] We are often trying to do things that remove a negative effect. [23:17] The concept of “eating the frog” is doing the hard thing first. [25:45] Samuel felt like it was hard to stay up on the content and research in the field so he started sharing links on LinkedIn. [26:53] This eventually evolved into Habit Weekly. It's now a mailing list that sends content related to behavioral design on a weekly basis. [28:27] You know you found something people really want if they are reaching out to you asking you to create a mailing list. It doesn't have to be difficult to start an email list if you understand what drives people. [30:27] His goal is to make sure that anyone interested in applying behavior change has the best and latest insights every week. [35:21] This field of behavioral science is still in the adolescent phase. In the near future, it is going to move into this more mature phase that is more about the process and learning more about applying these concepts in the best way. [37:21] Samuel is really excited about the better understanding in the next few years of how any organization can easily start applying these concepts. [40:17] His superpower or wish would be to see the world through other people's eyes. (Melina would like to be able to speak and read every language fluently.) [40:58] He also loves books and movies. A really good book or movie can help show the world from someone else's perspective. [44:44] Many businesses create content people don't want. If you start from a place of sharing, reciprocity will kick in eventually and people will appreciate what you are doing and what to give back to you one way or another. [46:18] Melina's closing thoughts Thanks for listening. Don't forget to subscribe on Apple Podcasts or Android. TALKING TO THE LORD IMPROVES EYESIGHT The subject is enormous and all-encompassing, but the statement is short and to the point. When you talk to God, your eyesight is improved. It has been proven over and over in the Scriptures that when one of our biblical heroes spent time communicating with the God of heaven, they could then see through their problem to Victory. Take Samuel, for instance. Just a young boy was living in the courtyards of the temple grounds. In the night, while on his bed, he heard his name called Samuel Samuel. He arose quickly from his bed, went to Eli, the priest, and asked him if he had called him. After repeated attempts to find out who was speaking, Eli gave him spiritual direction so that he could follow God'sGod's instructions. Eli got a word from the Lord and told it to Samuel. If the Lord calls again, this is how you will answer. "speak lord for your servant hearth." After speaking with Lord Samuel then had a clear vision of what God had in mind for the future of Israel. Not only was his understanding increased, but now he could see far into the future. How about Peter; after a time of ministering to the people who had gathered, he took time to rest up before he ate lunch. Then God gave him a vision of a sheet being let down full of animals. Remember that Peter could not see the church's future like he was ready to after talking to the Lord. God said to Peter, "kill and eat." Peter said to God, "not me, Lord. I'm a good Jew; we don't eat that." When Peter and Gold were through talking together, Peter could see down the road. Significant changes were coming to the world and the body of Christ. The Gentiles had been included in the covenant, and Peter didn't see it until he had his conversation with God. So how about you today? How is your eyesight doing? Do you think an increase could improve it in your conversations with the father? I do. So remember what the Scriptures tell us, "the fervent prayers of a righteous person avail of much." Only A Boy!Reader: Tom MuirDate: 27th July 2022Passage: 1 Samuel 3:10-------------------If you have time today read the whole of chapter 3 which will give you all the details in the story of God speaking to Samuel although he was only a boy. Samuel's mother Hannah had dedicated Samuel to God and she left Samuel, when he was old enough, in the care of the old priest Eli, to be a helper to Eli in the work surrounding the worship of God. Eli had two sons, both of them priests, but they were really wicked men and had little respect for God and the people. In time, God by-passed the sons of Eli and chose Samuel to serve him as priest and judge in Israel. Later in the book we have this said about Samuel: "Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground." (1 Samuel 3:19). At the end of his life he was able to say to the people that he had walked before them as God's true servant from his youth until old age. He was God's faithful servant from the time he was only a boy. What a wonderful testimony to have! There is a great lesson her for us. The old Sunday School chorus sang "I'm not too young to come to Jesus for he loves a little child." Indeed it is wonderfully true that Jesus loves the young folk and wants them to put their trust in him from an early age and he will keep them from so much harm and sin. PrayerDear Lord, I pray that you will help us to encourage the children to give their lives to Jesus so that they may become 'samuels'! Amen.

Folge des Niners Huddle – Der 49ers Germany Podcast: My Name is…, My Name…, Deebo Samuel! He tells him to answer back! Samuel hears from God- and God speaks judgment over the house of Eli because his disobedience, and then Samuel is afraid to speak what God spoke to him. Samuel is supposed to tell Eli that his whole family is going to be destroyed. Samuel does it. And then is declared a true prophet of God. Sometimes God Doesn’t speakThe word of the Lord was rare in those daysV1 ‘now the boy samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelationThis was a period of Israel history where written texts were not the source of revelation.People depended on Prophets of God to speak to them and tell them what God wantedGod spoke to the prophets- to speak to people. The people did what they said (sometimes)But now- God wasn’t speaking- or the people weren’t listening. Eli was a judge- not a prophetThe people needed the word of the Lord! They needed direction- They needed his WORD This was the time in Israel Judges 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.So- God sends Samuel to be this prophet- To be the word of God- But it aint gonna be roses.Sin and disobedience will always result in the judgment of God- a correction.Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; The judgment of God is getting whatever you want and God stepping back and giving it to you What does it mean to you?Do not be a person who rejects the word of God and dies spiritually that God will not speak toAmerica and Americans no longer hold a biblical worldview- AIG- “One hundred twelve million Americans (46%) say they have a biblical worldview. But according to this study, a mere 24 million American adults actually have a biblical worldview. only 10% of Americans think and act according to the most basic biblical principles. This is a gap of a staggering 88 million people who believe they think biblically, but whose beliefs and actions do not match up with biblical truth. There are times in scripture where God withholds revelation upon people as judgment- are we living in those days? It may seem so- and its scary.Amos 8:11 “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord God, “That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the Lord. Its as true back then as it is today for many people- the only difference is that we have the written word and people flat out reject it.They proclaim it to be false. They don’t like what it says. They challenge its truth. They like the Idea of Jesus- a nice bearded man who gives away fish and bread- not the righteous judge returning with fire to cleanse the world from wickedness But even TODAY the word of God is scarce- People don’t want the Bible. They want to make up God in their own heads- They want him to be what THEY Want him to be instead of WHO HE IS2 tim 4:3-4 READJohn Francis- didn’t speak 17 years- family mad- listened when spoke- why don’t we listen GdDon’t be that person! Read your Bible! In context. The whole thing. See who God REALLY is God SPEAKS to those who listen V10 now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times “Samuel Samuel” and Samuel answered “speak for your servant hears”God spoke to Samuel because Samuel more than likely could be trusted with the word of the Lord.
What will you be when you grow up? Will you be a leader like Samuel? Samuel continued as judge . . . all the days of his life. 1 SAMUEL 7:15, NIV. I will serve Jesus all my life.
