The Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos has been serving San Marcos since 1979. Today, the Club serves over 4,000 youth ages 6 to 18 years old in San Marcos through programs and services provided in the Club setting, and at community events and functions. President & CEO Cathy Baur talks about how they have still been able to connect with the boys and girls during the pandemic and provide the programs that are so essential to their wellbeing. Today's Guest: Ed Musgrove, San Marcos City Council MemberEd is a resident of the Twin Oaks Valley where he lives with his wife Carole and daughters, Cailin and Brooke. Ed is a California native moving from Sacrament to San Diego as a child. After graduating from Poway High School, Ed joined the United States Army where he served over six years including a tour in Germany and assignments in Texas and Colorado. Ed returned to San Diego for a position with the San Diego Sheriff. Ed's work assignments ranged from detentions, patrol, traffic investigator and detective. Ed supervised at the team level, special investigations, emergency management and was the manager of personnel for the 4000-employee department. He also served two years as the station commander for the communities of Santee and Lakeside before retiring. After retiring, Ed took a position as the operations security manager for an international non-profit school based in Carlsbad before accepting an offer as a deputy director for the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System. Today I discuss my own opinions on a cartoon that I had seen a few years ago with a title some what of a description to the definition of “Do you believe in cults bob”? I ask the questions and define, in my own ways, the conceptuality of the idea that there might possibly be a cult of perceptions.  Are people brain washed? Public school, parenting, religion and societies pressures. Are we to accept and just follow the herd? Protecting your sustenance and a story on the origins of agricultural vs forest people.   Are we protecting and living a false set of rules? Statistics are alarming. Today I dive into understanding how systems of all sorts are actually a necessity in our day-to-day lives.  I think they always have been since the beginning of time.  A lot of us get angry at the so-called defined present system.  I think we can look at this all in a different way though.  Can we design our lives to function in a more acute and relevant way?  Is it possible to bend the systems into a more favorable, catered method to our own satisfactions and needs? I speak a lot about stacking functions on the show and system thinking I think is a really big giant part of it. Converting negative energy into positivity.  Why should we suffer?  Especially by our own hands.  Can we change this horrible motion of mind? I think we can do better.  Are you hungry for change? Today I bring open a topic on my divorce, but I didn’t want to get too personal. I incorporate this into an alternative lifestyle design because I think it’s not just marital divorce but a divorce from ideas, traditions... An exodus from old beliefs and systems that are no longer working. It can be one of the most painful life experiences but also one of the most liberating in and of itself. Ever have one of those days?  Where everything just seems to piss you off? Well I’ve made adjustments to my life and added some more people to it. Going from doing mostly everything myself to now having help. What I can’t help to notice is that most people just don’t care about doing a good job, showing up or at some point even themselves.  For those of us that are go getters and doers I think we need to identify a method to coexist with such people. Today my dog is in the ER. I’m very nervous about the ordeal. But.  Im also so thankful for the fact that I found out exactly what was happening to her within seconds.  I might have saved her life by utilizing my phone as a tool.  I’m both terrified and astonished at the level of information available right at our finger tips.  I’m also sad to hear so many people stuck in the mindset of how horrible the phone is and missing out on how great this day and age is because of it.  Opportunity is right at yours for the taking.  Take control of your life and lift yourself to a higher dimension of thinking.  It’s your choice of how you exist.  Manipulated or graduated to empowerment through self realization that you take control or are being controlled.  Make your decision and begin living with awareness and direction.  I’m a little off today because of my dog’s condition but hope you get the message my friends.    Today I discuss:   -Virtual reality and how it can surpass the phone and education as we know it -How visualization changes everything  -Technology can heal the planet -Better nutrition in food    Im posting some inspirational and bonus videos on the Upandinit Facebook group site. She has a lot of insight as she cared for her mother until her passing which occurred in her own house.  We discuss alternatives to the norm, as usually on the show. Seems there is a trend going on right now. At least from what I’ve been told. I have not looked into it myself but speak only from my personal experience on alternative lifestyle design and simple living and how we’ve been doing things differently.  From what I’ve heard a lot of people are not giving gifts. This may sound strange. I’ve also heard people say that they have to spend thousands of dollars because the family is so huge. And the look on their faces was not a pleasant.  I’m definitely not here to ruin Christmas. But I’m here to hopefully inspire you guys with a certain twist on the holidays as we do in my own home.
