Are we misreading what it means to build something that lasts? In this episode, we sit down with the former founder of Fave & KFit, Chen Chow, who's walked through fire: broke, lost, doubted—but never boring. From hustling with broken English to pitching investors with nothing but brutal honesty, their story punches right through the clichés. We talk about knowing when to fight for your startup and when to bury it with dignity. About staying real when everyone's faking it. About why sometimes, the best kind of help is the one that shows up quietly, without fanfare. You'll hear the unfiltered truth on fundraising, founders burning out, and why Malaysia's startup scene still feels like it's waiting to grow up. We also dive into AI, shifting work culture, and why Gen Z just isn't built for 9-to-5 obedience. Episode Highlights: defining conservatism, individual freedom, excessive taxation & government spending, current state of politics, influence of wokeism, Israeli-palestinian conflict, need for strong leadership Summary: In this episode, friends of the show Mock and Daisy (The Chicks On The Right), join Kaylor to explore their approach to conservatism, aiming to revitalize its image. They stress the importance of limited government and individual freedom while recognizing the necessity of essential government functions like infrastructure and safety. They express their frustration with the current political climate, excessive taxation, and government spending. The discussion also addresses the upcoming Canadian elections and the possibility of new leadership. Mock and Daisy advocate for a more relaxed and inclusive conservatism, touching on topics such as the differences between Canada and the US, the impact of wokeism on college campuses, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They voice concerns about the rise of anti-Semitism and the decline of rational discourse in society.  Takeaways: Conservatism should focus on limited government and individual freedom Government should prioritize keeping the country safe and providing essential services Excessive taxation and government spending are concerning A more casual and inclusive approach to conservatism is needed. Canada and the US have different political climates, with Canada being seen as more progressive and the US being more conservative Wokeism has infiltrated college campuses, particularly in elite institutions, leading to protests and a lack of rational discourse There is a rise in anti-Semitism, which is concerning and needs to be addressed Strong leadership and voting for Republicans are seen as important for making positive changes If you enjoyed the episode, please be sure to take a screenshot and share it out on Instagram and tag @thekaylorbetts. Lessons from "Leisure: The Basis of Culture" by Josef Pieper. This book challenges our contemporary work-centric culture and the idea of “total work,” where every aspect of life is dominated by the ethos of work and productivity. Pieper argues that this shift has led to a loss of meaning and a neglect of the liberal arts, which traditionally has been a space for leisure and the cultivation of individual freedom. Josef Pieper was a professor of philosophy at University of Munster. Live from STUDIO G- in the heart of America- I'm STEVE GRUBER- saying the things you wish you could in polite company- fighting for you from the Foxhole of Freedom and defending this great nation every single day-- this is THE STEVE GRUBER SHOW!   Here are 3 big things you need to know right now—   Number One— We lost one of our friends from the 1990's over the weekend—it seems that massive amounts of money and fame cannot bring you happiness or longevity—   Number Two— Call it whatever you want—but from London to Chicago—riots are breaking out with pro-Palestinian supporters on one side—and pro-Israel supporters on the other side—and neither is going to back down—   Number Three— The attacks have been brutal—and vicious—and there is no end in sight—in fact it was all very predictable BUT the level and the intensity of the aggression has been even more over the top than even I expected—   No, I am not talking about Israel retaliating against the numerous terrorist attacks on that nation—I will get to that, but I am talking about the naked onslaught from Democrats that have gone on a very aggressive campaign to discredit the new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson of Louisiana—   And he is the new favorite target of the rapid Donald Trump hating left—in fact for at least this moment in time—they might even hate Johnson more!   Why?   Well that is pretty simple—and it was reflected on one of Johnson's first answers having become Speaker—and second in line to be President of the United States—he was asked about what his worldview is—his response was, read the Bible—and that caught the Democrats hair on fire with their asses catchin'—   I mean, here is a proud American, a conservative and an unapologetic Christian—who is not afraid to say so—   And then he laid out his vision of the world from that perspective when he outlined his 7 core and guiding principals—   Individual Freedom, Limited Government, the Rule of Law, Peace through strength, Fiscal responsibility, Free Markets and maybe most importantly… Human dignity—just let those settle in for a minute and ask yourself—how could any of those things be considered offensive to anyone?   To me they sound like the guiding principles that have served this nation very well for 247 years—and if we stick to those principals there could well be 247 more—BUT the left hates those kinds of things—and they hate the idea that Mike Johnson has foundational moral ideals behind what he will be doing every day—   I mean how dare a guy show up with integrity—and actually talk about how it guides him? To be fair, Speaker Johnson was not out proselytizing, no he was asked a question and he delivered an honest answer without blinking—and that is his crime—he is an Christian who is not ashamed to say so—and that is something rare these days to be sure—   But that is certainly not Mike Johnson's only crime in the eyes of the progressive mob—no, in fact his crimes are many and they will stop at nothing in an effort to drag him down—BUT I say good luck with that—because so far he looks like a formidable opponent—and he is not going to back down—   For example—when asked about what comes next in the impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden—Johnson has been crystal clear that he—and all members of Congress have an obligation to continue the investigation into the Biden family and determine what has been going on—and why the family has brought in something on the order of $24 million dollars over the past few years—without any actual work in return—     Bribery—just as the payments to Joe Biden have been described by some—and that is very problematic for those trying to defend the senile Commander in Chief—who for years denied any knowledge of the business dealings of his son Hunter or his brother Jim—which nobody, even Democrats actually believe—it's about as credible as Gold Bar Bob Menendez claiming he hid $500,000 in cash in his clothes out of fear that his money would be stolen—   So instead of arguing about what should be done and how it should be handled, the new Speaker is preparing to demand answers from all the key players—and that has Democrats screaming and terrified—   Furthermore—the Speaker is not going to interfere with the work that has already been completed by the committees looking into the Biden family business and the corruption that is percolating to the top—in fact he is declaring his support for the work to continue—    And when it comes to the wars in Ukraine and Israel—plus money for Taiwan and the southern border—the Speaker plans to break those all into individual spending packages—and will not be sending it as one giant $100 billion dollar mess—   And for those of you on the Trump Train headed to the Presidential Election of 2024—you may want to know that the 45th President is very impressed with the Louisiana Congressman too—

They deconstruct what it means to 'belong,' exploring the concept of 'home' not just as a physical space but as a philosophical construct tied to our intrinsic nature. The dialogue orbits around key principles like spirit, freedom, and the evolution of collective intelligence, or 'Geist.' [00:16:17] Vervaeke touches on the critique of Hegel by Stanley Rosen, introducing alternative viewpoints. [00:19:40] Hegel's often-overlooked relationship with nature is put under the spotlight. [00:24:28] Vervaeke introduces 'niche construction' in biology, challenging Darwinian notions and tying back to the concept of 'home'. [00:27:51] The psychological and social implications of 'home' are unpacked by Vervaeke. [00:30:59] Schindler highlights the role of the hearth, tying it back to human development and spirituality. [00:33:15] Vervaeke delves into the hypnotic nature of fire and its evolutionary relevance. [00:37:35] D.C. Schindler posits the necessity of an 'absolute' in community formation, adding another layer to the discussion. [00:40:00] Hegel's master-slave dialectic and its connection to freedom are introduced by Schindler. [00:45:01] Ken Lowry discusses the modern definition of freedom and how it undermines the concept of community and interpersonal relationships. [00:48:00] Vervaeke dissects the flaws in associating freedom with economic choice. [00:53:20] Freedom and forgiveness are seamlessly tied together by Vervaeke. [01:00:47] Schindler's critique of Aristotle through Plotinus adds depth to the discussion on the concept of 'good'. [01:08:42] The Aristotelian notion of nature is explored by Schindler, touching upon the idea of intrinsic motion. [01:13:29] Schindler gives a poetic touch, with the essence of beauty being the 'surprise from the other'. [01:17:48] Ken Lowry highlights the importance of reflecting on concepts like freedom, rationality, and love.

Reinsch tells us whether America still believes in itself as a true economic power, whether the single-income-household model is a thing of the past, and why Washington's spending has helped bring government farther away from the people. Robert and Dave continue their spirited conversation in the final installment on gun safety. The attempt is to look at the most sincere elements of each political party. As they examine the details of what could inspire the country to unite the fringe extremes are excluded. Trump and his key supporters who are committed to the big lie, insurrection, and many illegal activities are not considered part of the solution. A vote for Trump is a vote that threatens gun ownership. The paranoia and fear that he has unleashed and the deaths and mass shootings that have been a result of the questioning of democracy and every institution are a result of his alternative fact environment. We must tone down this animosity through more programs and treatment centers to combat dangerous nationalists and the anti-democratic calls to violence on the internet and in schools. What will make democracy flourish once again is finding the balance between individual freedom and collective responsibility. The other major theme of this series makes the connection between gun safety and transforming the expression of hatred into strength.  For a more step-by-step breakdown of how to address transforming your own anger and resistant emotions please visit AwarenessThatHeals.org. When we become aware of what we need, we can learn to express strongly what it is that we are for rather than what we are against. A big part of doing this is not to demonize a large percentage of our population believing this is going to create more peace. This method helps navigate converting black and white thinking into strength to be for democracy and against anti-democracy.  Robert and Dave make an out-of-the-box proposal that is a new way of imagining people who have guns. It would require willing participants to go through approved training and psychological testing to become an additional layer of protection in the form of a militia in the way that The Second Amendment intended. There are plenty of people that want to do good. This would provide an opportunity for gun owners to become protectors. We want to create a sense of membership in the United States of America wanting to protect our democracy. Read the transcription and listen to this episode on The Global Bridge Foundation website.
