Keys For Kids Ministries

Bible Reading: Psalm 130Where's Pippi? wondered Monica when she got home from school. She always meets me at the door. Then she saw it--a trail of tissue paper from the bathroom down the hall. "Oh, you naughty puppy! Come here, Pippi!" A brown ball of fur came slinking out from under Monica's bed, tail tucked between its legs. Monica laughed. "You know you're guilty, don't you?" she said, picking up the puppy and rubbing her fur. "But I love you anyway, and I forgive you. Let's get this mess cleaned up."That night, Monica had trouble sleeping. She couldn't forget something bad she had done that afternoon. She tossed and turned as it went over and over in her mind. Why did I do that? she kept asking herself. Jesus must be so mad at me. I wish I could hide! She pulled the blanket over her head, but it didn't help. Suddenly, Monica shivered. "Mom!" she called. "Mom!"The light came on, and Monica blinked as she lowered the blanket and saw Mom's concerned look. "Oh, Mom," said Monica, wide-eyed. "It seemed like Jesus was right here!""Why does that scare you?" asked Mom. "You know Jesus loves you and is always with you."Monica's voice shook. "Well, I…I stole some money from Saralyn. It was on her desk, and--""And that's why you're afraid." Mom put her arms around Monica. "Remember how Pippi tried to hide after dragging the tissue paper down the hall from the bathroom?"Monica nodded. "Yes, but it didn't work. I knew where she was hiding and what she'd done. She knew too. I could tell she was ashamed, and I forgave her.""Well, we often try to do the same thing with God," said Mom. "When we sin, the sense of God's presence can be frightening and make us feel ashamed. But we don't ever have to hide from God in shame, because Jesus took the guilt and shame of our sins on Himself when He died on the cross. When we confess our sin to Him, He will forgive us, just like you forgave Pippi.""I'll ask Him to forgive me now," said Monica. "And I'll return the money tomorrow." Together, Mom and Monica bowed their heads and prayed. Then Monica snuggled down under the covers, and soon she was fast asleep.–Barbara J. WestbergHow About You?Are you ever afraid of God and want to hide from Him? That usually means you know you've done something wrong and feel ashamed of it. But you can't hide anything from God--He already knows all about it, and He wants to forgive you! Jesus paid for all your sins so you wouldn't have to hide. Tell Him what you did and ask His forgiveness. He loves you and wants to give you peace.Today's Key Verse:If we confess our sins, God will forgive us. The first time I met Jeff and Saralyn, we were seated next to each other at a charming restaurant in Washington DC. Our initial exchange revolved around the delightfully delicious food, yet unexpectedly, it evolved into an unforgettable experience. With every word we shared, I grew more captivated by their genuine affection and unwavering love, even after 33 years together. Their remarkable ability to nurture such a profound connection left a deep impression on me. I found myself absorbing invaluable lessons from their journey, not only through their words but also their behaviors. After meeting them, I was deeply touched, inspired, and transformed for the better. Believing their love and wisdom should be more widely spread, in a spontaneous moment, I asked Jeff and Saralyn if they'd be open to letting me record our ongoing conversation so that I could share their treasured insights with you all. No formal introduction. No pre-written script. No rehearsed lines. Just an unfiltered exchange and a natural connection of the souls. And this is how they grow their love together… Bloom in Crisis is the embodiment of hope — it is a belief, a practice, a state of being that empowers you to skillfully regulate emotions, build spiritual resilience, enhance self-awareness, unleash the potential of your mind, foster a grateful heart, cultivate joy, nurture positive energy, promote inner peace, grow self-compassion and compassion for others, embrace the present moment, derive wisdom from introspection, transform pain into grace, recognize positive possibilities even in adversity, and actively shape your narrative, ultimately leading to a happy and fulfilled life (with a touch of style!)Welp... you're probably not going to remember all of these, and neither am I (!) which is why internalizing the concept of "bloom in crisis" instead of trying to memorize what it means is important. Luckily, we can all do it by practicing consistently. While I'm incredibly grateful for my journey, I know firsthand how painful and lonely it is to go through tough times alone — it urges me to give back and help others as much as I can in my lifetime. Bloom in Crisis has been transforming me and many others for the better, and I would love for you to give it a try!Believing that everyone is a bloomer and we #bloomincrisis together, I founded Bloom in Crisis to share with you how I practice it and what I've learned throughout my journey, which, I hope, will be helpful for you in yours.-Zip xx----------About Zip Nguyen: Zip was born and raised in Vietnam. In Saralyn's experience, an aligned team: actively defines and consciously works in a brave space that prioritizes psychological safety in order to hold difficult yet required conversations, deeply understands their shared priorities to ensure everyone and everything is pointed in the same direction, and operationalizes the behaviours of trust in a way that works for everyone on the team. For exclusive prompts, tools, and resources to help you along your leadership journey, subscribe to our newsletter at https://www.holonleadership.org/contact/newsletter/. Follow Saralyn on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/holon_leadership/?hl=en.Connect with Saralyn on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/saralynhodgkin/.Need help navigating your leadership journey?
