We watched TWO adaptations of Astrid Lindgren's classic novels, "The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking" (1988) and the original Swedish "Pippi Longstocking" (1969), and we're seriously considering becoming exotic pet owners. Pippi Longstocking is the original "Quirky Girl" (sorry, Mayim Bialik), and we're all just chasing her level of coolness to this very day. She dressed like a weirdo, lived in a mansion with a pet monkey, her own horse, and a giant bag of gold— oh, and she could also lift grown men off the ground with her bare hands. The two versions of Pippi are definitely filled with nostalgia, but which version do you choose? It seems that the divide between Millennials, Elder Millennials, and the elusive Xennial can be drawn between the 1988 "New Adventures" starring Tami Erin and the 1969 "original" starring Inger Nilsson. Erin embodies the character for an entire generation, with her acrobatics and attitude, but those of us (ahem) senior members of the Pippi fan club are drawn to Nilsson and her company's more childish take on the characters. Can we forgive Pippi for being such a brat because Inger Nilsson is just a little kid, whereas Tami Erin gives the character a bit more tween sassy energy? Längtan bort från trängseln. Längtan mot en egen liten ö, någon slags Tove Jansson-plats där livet både är brutalt och vackert på samma gång. Okrem toho má vlastnú prax a vedie aj terapeutickú a vzdelávaciu skupinu pre rodičov detí s ADHD.V našom rozhovore sme sa zamerali na ADHD u detí a snažili sme sa tento populárny pojem očistiť od mnohých stereotypov a zjednodušení, ktoré zaplavujú online priestor. Rozprávali sme sa o tom, čo je ešte správanie detské a kedy vyhľadať pomoc, či potrebujeme diagnózu, aj aké sú rozdiely v prejavoch u dievčat a chlapcov. Spomínali sme aj hranice, potrebu štruktúry a pohybu. Veríme, že tento diel prinesie kopec pochopenia, tipov aj pohladenia pre rodičov a aj učiteľov detí s ADHD.

Bible Reading: Psalm 130Where's Pippi? wondered Monica when she got home from school. She always meets me at the door. Then she saw it--a trail of tissue paper from the bathroom down the hall. "Oh, you naughty puppy! Come here, Pippi!" A brown ball of fur came slinking out from under Monica's bed, tail tucked between its legs. Monica laughed. "You know you're guilty, don't you?" she said, picking up the puppy and rubbing her fur. "But I love you anyway, and I forgive you. Let's get this mess cleaned up."That night, Monica had trouble sleeping. She couldn't forget something bad she had done that afternoon. She tossed and turned as it went over and over in her mind. Why did I do that? she kept asking herself. Jesus must be so mad at me. I wish I could hide! She pulled the blanket over her head, but it didn't help. Suddenly, Monica shivered. "Mom!" she called. "Mom!"The light came on, and Monica blinked as she lowered the blanket and saw Mom's concerned look. "Oh, Mom," said Monica, wide-eyed. "It seemed like Jesus was right here!""Why does that scare you?" asked Mom. "You know Jesus loves you and is always with you."Monica's voice shook. "Well, I…I stole some money from Saralyn. It was on her desk, and--""And that's why you're afraid." Mom put her arms around Monica.
