During his long residency outside of Terminal One, he would become a fixture and a minor celebrity. durée : 00:29:23 - Les Pieds sur terre - par : Sonia Kronlund - 12 novembre 2022, Sir Alfred Mehran s'éteint dans l'aéroport de Roissy où il a vécu 18 ans.
The man who inspired Steven Speilberg's 2004 movie The Terminal, died last year at what is believed to be the age of 77. Mehran Karimi Nasseri, or Sir Alfred as he later became known, was an Iranian refugee who spent the guts of two decades, living in Terminal 1 of Charles De Gaulle Airport in France. Despite the global interest in his peculiar living circumstances, much of his story remains unclear. Why did he stay there for so long and what brought him back to the airport in his final days. To look back on his extraordinary existence, Conor Pope is joined by author and journalist Andrew Donkin, who wrote The Terminal Man, the book on Sir Alfred's life. When it comes to air travel, no one enjoys long layovers or flight delays. Now imagine being stuck inside an airport terminal not just for a few hours, but for years. That's exactly what happened to a traveler who ended up stuck in France's busiest airport for an incredible 18 years. Even more amazing, that's not the only person this has happened to, nor is it even close to the longest! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Oh, sometimes life is full of ironies. It is with a sad heart to hear of the passing of Patricia Hitchcock, the only child of Alfred Hitchcock, the Master of Suspense. But alas, WTDCA was in the process of honoring Sir Alfred Hitchcock on the eve of what would have been his 120th birthday, August 13th 1899.So, tonight, we head to the theater and discuss Alfred's beginnings, his movies and as this is a travel podcast, we discuss movie locations you can still visit, as well as some other paranormal and true crime tidbits associated with his movies!
It's our debut episode -- and to start things right, I'm combining my lifelong obsession with comics with a more recent obsession with Alfred Hitchcock! It's all about the Master of Suspense, mystery comics, and Sir Alfred #3, by Tim Hensley.

The Art of Landscape Painting - Sir Alfred Edward East - Book 20 Title: The Art of Landscape Painting in Oil Colour Overview: Sketching from Nature, Equipment, Colour, Composition, Trees, Skies, Grass, Reflections, Distance -- chapters rich with timeless oil painting advice by a master landscape artist, Sir Alfred East. East had an exceptional ability to capture the individuality of trees, the quiver of their leaves against the sky. “If we look at a photograph, the edges of the trees do not give you the feeling that the tree is a living thing, they are marked with hard precision against the light, like a solid building, and yet at the same time if we see them in Nature we hear the whisper of their leaves and know that they live and breathe. To express that is a greater truth than the camera can reveal, and a higher form of realism.” East served as president of the Royal Society of British Artists from 1906 to 1913. I had such a great time talking all things Sir Alfred with Laurent. He is fun, smart and has great theories on Rear Window, Psycho, Vertigo (fascinating doozy), and The Birds. He has interviewed Tippi, Rod Taylor, Janet Leigh and many others. He produced all the extras for the Hitchcock classic collection. We ponder, laugh and I learn. You can catch his latest documentary on HBO, Natalie Wood..What Remains Behind. He directed and produced. Its a goodie..Here are Laurent's many accomplishments.https://www.nedlandmedia.com/about/Thanks so much to Laurent for being so great. Thanks mostly to my listeners,Love you all,GracexoCheck out my Facebook page. Well folks this is a little longer show than I intended, it actually runs over an hour and for that I apologize. In this episode we have some of our recurring segments. We have the Parade of Idiots, This Date in History, Updates from previous episodes as well as some general housekeeping. Then we go into the mind of a man who spent over 18 years in Paris's Charles De Gault Airport and actually inspired Steven Spielberg to create a movie based up on his story. But the actual story of this man is far darker and more sinister. And, don't forget to hang around for the "Bonus Story" ala Marvel Studios technique...I love the way they do that!!!! I hope you folks enjoy the show and I can't begin to thank you enough for listening. You all are the BESTSESTESTESTESTEST!!! Royalty Free music provided by the magically gifted Kevin MacLeod (not sure if he's of the Clan MacLeod) who adds sooooooo much to the life of everyday podcasters like myself who can't afford to purchase copyrighted materials (the application for a licensing fee is like $175 by itself, not even concerning the actual song rights) So many thanks Kevin... Presenting Alfred Hitchcock Presents | Ann Arbor District Library
It's Sir Alfred's 121st birthday and what better way to celebrate than with a character who thinks he can pull off the perfect murder.
You think being stuck at home for a few weeks is bad? This guy got stuck living in an airport for 18 YEARS. A lost passport meant no country would take him, so he set himself up near the Maccas in the food court and that was that. Seriously - this one is nutso and sad and almost too hard to believe.
Sumamos y seguimos. Feliz escucha.

This week we cover the story of a man who lived in an airport for 18 years and could not leave. A Tom Hanks movie was based on it but we look at the real life story of Sir Alfred of Terminal 1. Was he there by bad luck, bad decisions or bad bureaucracy? How did things really end for himEmail scapegoatpodcast@gmail.comTwitter @ScapegoatpodDiscord https://discord.gg/y9PgCwe
On this episode of Comic Books Are Burning In Hell, Joe McCulloch and Matt Seneca get together to talk about Tim Hensley's 2016 comic Sir Alfred, the final publication of Alvin Buenaventura's Pigeon Press. NOTE: difficulties with recording make this episode hard to hear at times, and for that we apologize.
On today's podcast, we're paying tribute to "The Master of the Macabre", Alfred Hitchcock. On-hand to assist Lady P in dissecting Sir Alfred's filmography is renowned film historian, author, and Professor Emeritus from Indiana University, James Naremore. For our first topic, we have the Sight and Sound Critics' Poll's 34th Greatest Film of All Time: PSYCHO (1960). Our guest, James, originally offered up his in-depth take on Hitch's infamous feature in his 1973 book Filmguide to Psycho. However, that was not the first nor the last time that PSYCHO would be broken down and analyzed. It's a film that audiences, critics, and film theorists have repeatedly come back to over the years. But for today's analysis, James and Lady P make their own inspection of the Bates Motel. They parse through the publicity, the politics, and the aesthetics of the film to help explain its notoriety and its cultural and historical importance. Then, lurking behind the next segment-break is... Sir Alfred Hitchcock, again! This Thursday (August 13th) marks Hitchcock's 116th birthday. And while it's been almost 35 years since his death, on this podcast--like all arenas of film discussion--the ghost of Alfred Hitchcock is ever present. So, to mark the occasion, Lady P and Jim list their favorite Hitchcock films, and talk about some of his lesser-known masterpieces. Plus, they discuss why his persona continues to loom so large in both academic circles, and in the public's imagination.
With Kirsty Lang. The artist Alfred Munnings is best remembered as a painter of English rural scenes and horses. An ill- judged speech to the Royal Academy in 1949, in which he attacked Picasso, Henry Moore and modern art in general, led him to be seen as a reactionary and conservative figure. But a new film about his early life, Summer in February, reveals another side to Munnings. Set in an artists' colony in Cornwall, the film explores the bohemian existence and love affairs of painters including Sir Alfred Munnings and Dame Laura Knight before they became established. Kirsty Lang discovers the love triangle that tore young Munnings's life apart and asks whether his outspoken views and traditional approach to art in later life has led him to be overlooked as a painter. Producer Olivia Skinner.
Do you recall the Tom Hanks' movie The Terminal? His character was stuck in the airport and was unable to leave. Believe it or not, this was very loosely based on a true story, one that was much more unusual with a sadder ending. Also learn about the average distance between asteroids in the asteroid belt.
