A prominent political commentator and writer for a national news outlet recently probed into why the country's highest office avoided granting President Joe Biden an opportunity to engage in a pre-Super Bowl interview for two consecutive years. One potential explanation suggested is the concern that he could utter something misplaced. Discussing the matter with NPR, New York Times essayist David Brooks, accompanied by the Washington Post's affiliate editor Jonathan Capehart, revealed that a report by special prosecutor Robert Hur, which alludes to Biden's faltering memory and cognitive capabilities, might be the driving factor behind the decision. Brooks initiated the discussion by referring to the special prosecutor's approach of considering the subject from a hypothetical jury's perspective, hence the emphasis on Biden's age in his report. Brooks states: 'The argument was a jury wouldn't convict the person because they'd believe he was well-meaning but suffered from memory issues.' This, coming after a recording of Biden rebuking Hur for insinuating in his report he could not recollect the date of his son Beau's terminal brain cancer diagnosis. Brooks further clarified the role of a prosecutor, mentioning that they are prohibited from belittling those they don't formally accuse, giving the accused no platform to defend themselves - part of the prosecutorial standards. Brooks is of the opinion that Hur has surpassed these boundaries, stirring up contentious issues. On the subject of age, he expressed his belief that it is indeed a valid point to take into consideration. Reflecting on his experience interviewing Biden over the past three decades, Brooks has admitted that the president has lost some of his initial quick-wittedness. Drawing a parallel to baseball, he compares Biden to a pitcher who once threw high-speed pitches but has now dropped a few miles per hour from his fastball. Brooks hints at the impact of age on Biden's performance, raising questions about his ability to lead, particularly if he secures a second term.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Increased human life expectancy is one of the greatest breakthroughs in modern history. We have more than doubled the global average in the last 100 years, but the length of our healthspan, the time we spend in good health, has not increased at the same rate. With the population of people over 60 expected to almost double from 12% to 22% between 2015 and 2050, we have an urgent need to find novel solutions for healthy aging. On today's episode of The Doctor's Farmacy, I'm excited to talk to my good friend Dr. Peter Diamandis about how we can apply the latest science and technology in the field of longevity to optimize not only how long we live but how vibrant and healthy we remain as we age. Peter is a serial entrepreneur, futurist, technologist, New York Times bestselling author, and the founder of more than 25 companies. Fortune magazine has named Peter “one of the World's 50 Greatest Leaders,” and he is the Founder and executive chairman of the XPRIZE Foundation, which has launched more than $300 million in incentive competitions, driving more than $3.5 billion in R&D (most recently launching the $100 million Gigaton Carbon XPRIZE funded by Elon Musk to combat climate change). Peter's venture fund, BOLD Capital Partners, is deploying $600M+ into exponential technologies and health-biotech. Peter has written four New York Times bestsellers, and his life's mission is to empower entrepreneurs to create a hopeful, compelling, and abundant future for humanity. This episode is brought to you by Rupa Health, Joovv, Sunlighten, and Cozy Earth.Streamline your lab orders with Rupa Health. In Part 2 of Dennis's interview with Dick DeBartolo, the writer talks about what it was like to juggle two dream jobs; writing for Mad Magazine and The Match Game TV show...at the same time! He also shares story after story of the good will he receives when a stranger finds out he's "Mad's maddest writer." He's gotten everything from airplane upgrades to house seats at a sold-out show. Dick also talks about his current work as a gadget expert on various TV shows as well as his own podcast The Giz Wiz. And on the subject of The Match Game, Dick shares stories about all the regulars; Charles Nelson Reilly, Brett Somers, Gene Reyburn and Richard Dawson. Other topics include: his secret to staying productive and creative, producer Mark Goodson's jaw-dropping art collection, Alfred E. Neuman's origin story, that really nice thing Betty White did for him, that time a Match Game producer informed him, "Standards and Practices are very unhappy" and why he thinks the fans who talk to him about Mad love it so so much. www.gizwiz.biz

Oh no, you're part of the human race. I'm not sure I could identify any year where I didn't do something stupid. Those do vary in scope but I continue to stretch - hopefully to grow, but sometimes I just have to admit it was one of those times when I was learning - yes, what someone else may call stupid or losing. So where do you go from here. So, grab your cup of tea - or maybe your Mt. Dew - and get ready for a power-packed episode filled with practical advice, inspiring stories, and valuable resources to help you reduce your number of stupid decisions. Let's jump right in! This vacation week is all about the “throwbacks.” Well, two shows are about it, anyway. But as you know, 60/40 is what pollsters call a “statistical dead heat.” Anyway, like Tuesday, this Thursday's re-run is about taking us back to a time when we didn't yet know just how bad TFG was going to make things. We had an inkling. We just… didn't think he'd get the chance. Remember those days? Well, we recorded them: David Waldman brings us up-to-date on all of the news and politics — no copying! The RNC convention tonight should feature Donald and Melania's cover of “Something Stupid”. (But probably won't.) Instead, it will be another night of terror. A Donald Trump minion falls on her sword for Melania. How Melania Trump's speech veered off course and caused an uproar. Greg Dworkin rounds up the polling. So, who's going to be president? And, who's going to win the presidency? Hillary Clinton is the star of the Republican convention. Even Trump's nomination doesn't wow the crowd like Clinton. Only Hillary Clinton interests them. Their priority is to punish a Clinton. After the convention, immigration, guns and abortion will be wedge issues. With no alternative, a Gop policy leader comes to terms with Trump. You can elect Trump, but you can't make him president. Joan McCarter emerges from the convention hell-hole to talk for a while. Joan picks Tiffany as the best Trump, the sons tying for creepiest. It is a close contest. Follow Joan back into the hell-hole on the Daily Kos RNC open thread for the latest! Chris Christie's Kangaroo Court is a glimpse of a Trumpian future. With Trump's help, NJ Republicans pay Bridgegate legal fees. Christie says Trump could purge the government of Obama appointees. Megyn Kelly steps forward with allegations against Roger Ailes, so it might be time for him to pack up his $40,000,000 and head out the door. Ryan Bundy braids 15 feet of bedsheets, 213 feet short of his goal.
