German church hosts worship service featuring Taylor Swift | Todd Coconato Show  Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give and support this ministry: www.ToddCoconato.com/give A centuries-old church in Germany drew more than 1,200 people on Sunday for worship services featuring the music of Taylor Swift. The Church of the Holy Spirit, a famous church in Heidelberg that meets in a 600-year-old building, put on a service titled "Anti-Hero — Taylor Swift Church Service" over the weekend in an effort to draw the interest of young people, according to Deutsche Welle (DW). "The Church of the Holy Spirit has always been a place of encounter and exchange. That's why a pop-music religious service fits so perfectly," Pastor Christof Ellsiepen told the outlet. "With it, we are giving space to the questions and issues that occupy the younger generation." The service focused on the supposedly strong Christian themes in Swift's music that address hot-button issues such as women's rights, racism and gender equality, according to the pastor. Parish Pastor Vincenzo Petracca acknowledged that Swift has taken flak from some Evangelical faith leaders for her music, especially in the United States. "Theologically speaking, she points to the justness of God," Petracca said, adding that Swift's "faith knows doubt and inner-conflict." "For her, faith and action are inseparable," he said. Two Sunday services in the historic church featured Swift's tunes, which DW noted were attended by an audience that skewed young and female. A rainbow banner behind the musicians noted that the church welcomes "all sizes, all [colors], all cultures, all sexes, all beliefs, all religions, all ages, all types, all people." While noting that the church was "built for Gregorian liturgical music and not for Taylor Swift," Petracca maintained that he was moved by the response to the modern, pop-themed service. "I stared into beaming faces — and during the song that Taylor wrote for her cancer-stricken mother, many had tears in their eyes," he said, referring to the song "Soon You'll Get Better." Swift's latest album, released last month, drew criticism from some Christian critics who claimed it features lyrical content that mocks God and Christians. Shane Pruitt, who serves as National Next Gen director for the Southern Baptist Convention's North American Mission Board and co-author of Calling Out the Called, urged parents to seriously reconsider allowing their children to listen to Swift's music. "I'm definitely not the minister or parent that has the 'no secular music' stance," Pruitt wrote in a Facebook post. "Also, I fully realize unbelievers are going to act like unbelievers. HOWEVER, there is a difference between being secular and being ANTI-CHRISTIAN." Former Boyzone star Shane Lynch recently accused Swift of implementing hidden satanic rituals in her sold-out shows. “I think when you're looking at a lot of the artists out there, a lot of their stage shows are satanic rituals live in front of 20,000 people without them realizing and recognizing,” Lynch told Ireland's Sunday World. Soon You'll See This Billboard In New Jersey. They're About To Re-Name Their Garden State Parkway Rest Stops After Home Town Celebs! You're encouraged to stop by and besides reaching for a cool drink, maybe pick up some life inspiration shared by these Jersey icons as to how to reach for your own stars.   Steve Edwards is President of The New Jersey Hall of Fame which is overseeing the project. He joins me for a fun conversation to share the back story, talk about the home town celebs getting the honor and share all the cool things each rest stop will soon feature. Also how and when they're going to roll out this re-name change game. Millions travel the Garden State Parkway including me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who won't miss pulling into a rest stop called 'Cheesequake' which is truly a brain stinging taste bud confusing name. Calling it the 'Jon Bon Jovi' service area will leave no doubt. All nine celebs being honored with their own service areas in NJ are members of the New Jersey Hall of Fame! Here's a list of the rest stops and the names they're about to be changed to. Heyy, I am back!!!!! So is Taylor Swift!!! Almost a year ago, Taylor Swift released Lover, a lively course correction intended, in part, to craft a more measured and mature style for the singer, whose previous album, Reputation, had used withering sarcasm and hip-hop production elements to wage war with Swift's crumbling, goodie-two-shoes image and the enemies poking holes in the narrative. In January's Netflix documentary Miss Americana, which chronicled the Lover sessions and revisited key career moves in the preceding decade, Swift admitted to being driven, on a certain level, by a hunger for public approval: “My entire moral code is a need to be thought of as good,” she said. 1989's pop turn was really a quest to be seen as the total package in music, an overcorrection for the embarrassment at the 2009 MTV VMAs. The country era before that had been a bit of an act of folksy people-pleasing, too. Lover, it seemed, was the real deal. But even that was a charm offensive of a sort, heralded by blindingly bright music videos and bustling, busy melodies. Amid the R&B/soul underpinnings of “False God” and “I Forgot That You Existed,” the droning synths of “The Archer,” the high school melodrama of “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince,” the maximalist pop radio fare of “Me!” and “You Need to Calm Down,” and the rustic repose of “Soon You'll Get Better” and the title track, half a dozen possible Taylors emerged from the pyre on which the old Taylor burned. Again, Swift created distance between her past and present by arming herself with different toys. You could argue that the singer's eighth album folklore, announced and released in a whirlwind 24 hours just before the weekend, is another sweeping recalibration, trading soaring melodies and effervescent production for moody, introspective folk-pop. But it undersells the true utility of this stripped affair to say it's just a new sandbox for Taylor. What's striking about this collection of songs is the relative lack of a fussy new sound and an obvious single. Loosed from the responsibility of piquing the audience's interest with a rollout dotted with attention-grabbing gestures, Swift is left with just her feelings and her stories. Stream Cardigan
