When the pandemic hit, Timmy Bauer from DinosaurHouse.com pivoted his business from being a traveling children's book author to running a children's book production company. Timmy was enjoying working as a traveling children's book author, but he was forced to change directions when schools started locking down and not allowing guests. His story is the perfect example that you don't always need to make a complete 180 if your business hits a wall. Sometimes you just need to make a slight re-calibration, a couple degrees one direction or the other that can set you off on a new path. This new path has taken Timmy from “just over the poverty line” to running a 6-figure business in the last 12 months. Tune in to The Side Hustle Show interview to hear: how Timmy pivoted his business model when the pandemic hit how he uses content-based marketing and other people's events to drive sales the ways you might also be able to take your existing skills and knowledge to serve a different customer base Full show notes

Join us at the table as we continue our conversation about performance-led storytelling. When we connect emotion with content through performance, we pull our audience in rather than push them to learn. "Performance is learning," according to our guest, Cassie Johansen, a teacher who uses storytelling to support the educational process in her classroom. Our other guest, Timmy Bauer, tells us that, "Performance is the sugar to learning." He is an author who travels the country sharing his books with audiences.
Engagement is strongest when we connect emotion to story! Sparking interest and encouraging others through performance enhances the power to retain information. Why do we remember the details of story or content when we are engaged? How can we better insure that our audiences will retain the key elements of a presentation? Two expert guests join Amy and Holland at the table this week to answer these questions and present vital resources to help everyone add a bit of drama to their day! Timmy Bauer is a writer, illustrator, puppeteer, and actor. Cassie Johansen is a loud, creative teacher who's trying to save the world one kid at a time. Together, they explain how we can motivate and inspire learning through performance.
