I have been a big fan of Final Girls since it was released. Being able to speak to the Director behind that one was truly special to me. Todd is an amazingly talented Writer and Director, but also just a giant fan of FILMS. He goes above and beyond to track down supplemental features that will expand his knowledge, seeks out home video releases to enhance his appreciation for the craft, and continues to push the boundaries on what he has completed previously. Special shout out to Jeremy Long for securing this interview for me! Micha

A wonderful film maker, human being, and relentless road warrior comes on the show. Todd talks to us about careers, road trips, life in the times of Rona, broadcasting tips, and nutrition. It ain’t over yet! We pick up right where we left off last week with Todd about to spill his guts on what inspired Alien’s beloved Chestburster. And speaking of Chestbursters, Brian shares how it feels to eat ribeye every night when he’s on The Carnivore Diet. Will Todd accept Brian’s challenge to join him in this bloody delicious endeavor? Will Drew storm off the podcast halfway through to get a snack? You’ll have to listen to find out. Thank you Todd for having more staying power than any VCRWORLD guest to come before. We did it! Make sure you listen to the very end and join us next week for Part 2 of our discussion with Todd. That’s when things really get weird. Get on the email list at vcrworld.substack.com
If you love, self-mocking films like Tucker & Dale, then this is something that you will love. It's a love letter to cheesy horror films from the 1980's with an interesting twist. It's harp, wickedly funny, and pays homage to the slasher films. Max Cartwright waits while her actress mother, Amanda, auditions for a film. When she returns, Amanda complains that she'll only be known as scream queen Nancy in the 1986 slasher film Camp Bloodbath, a cult classic. On the way home, the two get into a car accident and Amanda is killed. Three years later, on the anniversary of her mother's death, Max is studying with her friends Gertie and Chris. Gertie's stepbrother Duncan, a horror film fanatic, shows up and persuades Max to attend a special double-feature showing of Camp Bloodbath and its sequel. At the screening, Max is not too thrilled that Chris' possessive ex-girlfriend – and her former best friend – Vicki is there as well. During the film, the theater is accidentally set ablaze. In order to get the group to safety, Max uses a machete to cut a hole in the screen and they all step through. It's a totally bitchin' two for one on this episode of Horror Homeroom Conversations in which we head back to the 1980s with Todd Strauss-Schulson’s The Final Girls (2015) and François Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whissell’s Summer of 84 (2018). Criminally underrated, both films deploy depictions of nostalgia in order to reflect and then disrupt audience expectation of Reagan's America. In doing so, each film reveals a surprising depth that challenges horror film conventions.

Rebel Wilson plays Natalie, working as an architect in New York City, though often marginalized by her peers at her firm as one of the administrative assistants who make copies and fetch coffee for the others a the board meetings. To make matters worse, she ends up getting mugged and assaulted in the subway, resulting in a loss of consciousness that finds her waking up in a too-nice hospital being catered to, and flirted with, by the handsome doctor there. Her apartment is now three times the size and meticulously furnished, her neighbor now flamboyantly gay, and the hunky, wealthy client they've recently taken on at the firm (Liam Hemsworth) now only has eyes for her. In short, she's the star of her own romantic comedy, and the only person she can confide in that knowledge is her best friend at work, Josh (Adam Devine), who holds a secret crush for Natalie that she's been too stuck in her low self esteem to see.

My friend Erin Cardillo is on the show this week talking about her new movie, and first movie, "Isn't it Romantic." She first started writing this movie 9 years ago. Nine years! And it's now hitting theaters. Let this serve as a lesson in not giving up on your dreams. Erin and her writing partner Rich Keith have been on my show before talking about their TV projects. They are a very successful writing duo and are currently working on several shows right now. I have offered to sleep with them if they will put me in their shows, but so far they haven't taken me up on my offer. What I love about them is their sense of humor. It's clever and thoughtful and they really go the extra mile to nail a joke. And I think you'll see that same sense of humor come through in Erin's film as well. When you listen to this interview you'll hear how she says the movie went from her original idea, to New Line, to the hands of very skilled touch up writers, then eventually into the hands of Rebel Wilson, who also stars in and produces the film. "Isn't it Romantic" is a rom com that doesn't take itself too seriously which is exactly what makes it great. Every romantic comedy in the last several decades has relied on certain tropes that make it fall into the rom com category. This film sees those cheesy moments, and blows them up into a hilarious, romp that never let the audience forget we're all in on the joke.Rebel plays Natalie, a rom com hater who through an awkward encounter with a potential suitor, bumps her head and finds herself in the middle of a very corny rom com. We get to follow her journey as she resists the silly situation she's found herself in, and ultimately discovers who her true love is. The best part? It's not all who you think it will be. Adam Devine plays her best friend/unrequited love in the office. He and Rebel have an adorable chemistry that fans have been on board with since the Pitch Perfect movies. Adding into the mix the hilarious Liam Hemsworth and Priyanka Chopra and you have a delightful mix of real and fantasy love interests. "Isn't it Romantic" hits theaters on Valentine's Day. It stars Rebel Wilson, Adam Devine, Liam Hemsworth, Priyanka Chopra, Betty Gilpin and Brandon Scott Jones. It was directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson.

A comédia emaconhada A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, de Todd Strauss-Schulson. E acabou. Acabou? Nããããão, temos aquele momento de classe, totalmente elitizado, o Momento Leandro com as suas incríveis e fantásticas recomendações.
