Today's episode is the third in a series of interviews discussing the negative and worrisome aspects of traditional sleep training like Ferber and cry-it-out. Meredith Brough, sleep coach and childcare expert, interviews Sarah R. Moore, MFS and parenting expert, about her stand on this important topic. This series is meant to empower parents to make the best parenting decisions possible when it comes to sleep. Old-fashioned sleep training methods teach parents to Ignore their children's cries (no matter the type of cry), hold back comfort, and force little ones to become independent, whether or not they are ready for it. Parents often set aside their connection with their children while using these methods. These methods can cause lasting consequences for many babies and toddlers. We'd like to hear what the experts say about these issues and other concerns that they might have, as well as discuss positive, supportive ways to improve sleep. You're in for a treat today! Sarah brings up concerns that haven't come up on the show previously, that are eye-opening and enlightening. How do you build a healthy, connected, and intentional life that fulfills your greatest purpose? In this episode, Caroline Fausel shares how it all started. She talks about her journey, how she became an intentionalist and why she created this podcast.  A voracious reader herself, Caroline also shares some books that have changed her life and shaped her aspiration for intentionalism in all aspects of her life. For instance, the book “Eating Animals” by Jonathan Safran Foer heavily influenced her to become vegetarian. She thought it was a good way to bio-hack her genetics and keep certain diseases at bay. Learning about factory farming and what's in our food also sparked her passion for the environment. She believes that while individual action is not enough to turn the entire environment around, it's definitely a huge part of it, and it's something she could do.  Eventually, upon reading “It Starts with Food” by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig, which talks about nutrition science, she went straight from vegan to the paleo-based Whole30 diet, which she and her husband, Chaz, did for 30 days. It was an intense time but they felt better than ever and they became more intentional about what they were eating. And so, the book is what started it all for her – the lifestyle, the blog, and this podcast.  In this episode, Caroline shares how becoming intentional has dramatically changed the way she lives her life – as a wife, as a mother, and as a human being. In this episode, you will hear: Books on nutrition Books on minimalism Books on marriage Books on parenting Books on personal growth and development Subscribe and Review Have you subscribed to our podcast? How can you utilize the power and intention of prayer for your birth? Regardless of your faith, setting intentions for your birth experience can be a big part of preparation for the experience. Today's guest, Josephine Breen, weaves her faith into her birth story of her daughter Myriam. Josephine was born at home, and always remembers her mother being positive and open around the topic of birth. Then at 12 years old, Josephine got to witness the birth of her sister.  Josephine walks us through her pregnancy and birth, including a lot of the curve balls thrown in along the way.  Things we talk about in this episode: military family, being born at home yourself and then choosing home birth to have your children, education for your birth partner, preeclampsia, membrane sweeps, power of prayer, long labor without a lot of sleep, cervical lip, fetal ejection reflex, having community to support you, letting go when labor gets hard Links: Josephine's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/magdalenarobes/ Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler: https://www.amazon.com/Taking-Charge-Your-Fertility-Anniversary/dp/0062326031 Fertile Ground by Laura S. Thời gian gần đây, rất nhiều mẹ bầu sắp sinh hoặc vừa sinh truyền tai nhau về cách chăm con theo phương pháp E.A.S.Y, và cũng có rất nhiều tranh luận xoay quanh phương pháp này. - - - - -Tu-Anh Nguyen HeartWise® Parent Coach Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator www.happyparenting.vn

In this episode, Melissa and Leah welcome their first ever guest to the Momversation, Elizabeth Bine: a sleep consultant from Peachtree City, Georgia.  Sleep, and, more accurately, lack of sleep, is a huge challenge for many parents, though few may know about the accessibility of a sleep consultant.  Elizabeth not only shares a bit about what a sleep consultant is and her own journey in the profession, but also provides insight about the importance of quality sleep and the benefits of using a consultant when teaching our babies how to sleep. Elizabeth, and others in her field, are available to families across the country.  For more information, please visit her website, or browse her Instagram and Facebook pages. The Book Blurb in this episode is a passage from a Jerry Spinelli novel, Stargirl.  For more information about Jerry Spinelli's books, click here.A few other noteworthy mentions include Elizabeth's Love and Logic inspired Instagram post, the Sleep Sense program, founded by Dana Obleman, and two books: Polly Moore's book The Natural Baby Sleep Solution, which Melissa uses as a reference for the discussion on 90 minute sleep cycles, and Tracy Hogg's Secrets of the Baby Whisperer, referenced by Elizabeth. Elizabeth also mentions Priscilla Dunstan, whose theory about babies' vocal patterns suggests that babies can communicate specific needs with different crying sounds.

Meredith and Kaytee are back with SO many books my fingers are cramped (this is becoming a theme…). You’ll hear a “bookish moment of the week” from each of us: family presentation at homeschool group and going into a new book completely blind. Next, we discuss our current reads for the week. We’ve got five current reads this week, and they are sci-fi/fantasy heavy, which is WEIRD for us! Lots of strong opinions here! We’ve got an update for you on our Slow But Steady reads and what’s been happening in the past week. Also a short grammar lesson on “Swifties”. For our deep dive this week, we had a number of listeners (and real life friends) request our favorite parenting books. This will span everything from pregnancy/birth to infanthood to growing children to adding siblings. Plus one funny pick for when you just want to laugh it off. Finally, this week, we are Pressing Books into Your Hands. We’ve got books “with caveats” this week. So, stay tuned and listen closely to see if they are actually right for you! She takes us through the E.A.S.Y routine for baby sleep [from the book ‘Secrets of the Baby Whisperer by Tracy Hogg], that she implements in her very own ‘Good Habits’ programme, helping mothers to understand their babies better, which is key to better sleep for all. We discuss what H.A.T is, the 6 sleep states babies go through during each sleep cycle, and how you can recognize the signs that your baby is now ready for some sleep, or that you may have just missed that window of opportunity! Also, some burning questions! Is co-sleeping right for you & your baby? Should babies be ‘sleeping through the night’? And a personal favorite…. Can formula feeding your baby before bed make him sleep longer? Listen in to hear what Cecile has to say. Until next time!
