Email us at podcast@pursueGOD.org.Donate Now --I've had multiple people in my congregation sending me videos from different influencers and pundits. Several of them are criticizing the church for not being more vocal about who to vote for in the upcoming presidential election. Is the church's role to tell you who to vote for or teach you how to think biblically so that you can vote in a way that honors God? I would answer that it is the latter. They cite that many pastors are encouraging people to sit this election out because there isn't a godly candidate. Is that the right approach? Is there a godly candidate? If you feel that you are trying to vote for the lesser of two evils and you're not sure if you should vote at all, consider framing it by voting for who would do the most good. Is voting for the lesser of two evils a valid strategy?Jeremiah 29:1-9 These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. 2 This was after King Jeconiah and the queen mother, the eunuchs, the officials of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the metal workers had departed from Jerusalem. 3 The letter was sent by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. It said: 4 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. 6 Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. 7 But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. 8 For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are among you deceive you, and do not listen to the dreams that they dream,[a] 9 for it is a lie that they are prophesying to you in my name; I did not send them, declares the Lord.I'm going to sit out because there isn't a Godly candidate. The Israelites were in a pagan country and were told to pray for the peace of the city, plant crops. They were told to be engaged in the community. God didn't tell them to disengage because they had ungodly leadership. If you were waiting to vote for a godly candidate how long would you have to wait? When is the last time you could say with confidence we have had a godly candidate? We have church leaders that we think are godly, only to find out they have

For the past year, Shadi Hamid has been an outspoken critic of Israel's war in Gaza — and the Biden administration's complicity. Now he, like many others, is baffled by the Harris campaign's disregard and seeming disdain for Muslim and Arab voters. In a week is election day, and he is wrestling with the moral and political implications of the choice at hand.In our pages earlier this week, Shadi and Haroon Moghul debated the merits of voting for Harris or not voting at all. You can read their full exchange here. This podcast episode continues that conversation, but goes deeper. It is, in essence, about voting: is there a duty to vote? In a two-party system, must we accept the lesser of two evils? Moghul is director of strategy at The Concordia Forum and author of Two Billion Caliphs: A Vision of a Muslim Future. Haroon shares all of Shadi's misgivings about Trump and Harris, and has publicly chosen not to vote. “I don't think you can get to democratic ends with a candidate who is at war with democracy,” Haroon says, “and I don't just mean Trump, I mean Harris.” Shadi, on the other hand, takes a more pragmatic point of view: Sitting an election out doesn't do anything real; it would be better for Muslim and other pro-Palestine voices to continue supporting the Democratic Party, hoping to influence it from within. Meanwhile, Damir Marusic applies his trusty sense for realpolitik to the question. He challenges Shadi, arguing that he's conflating two very different strategies: electoral pressure and intra-party influence. He questions Haroon whether there is an actual “theory of a change” behind his choice not to vote. This is a passionate discussion, not so much about electoral politics as about the first principles undergirding citizenship. And it also asks an intensely personal set of questions: how do we ultimately make what can seem like an impossible choice? That lady or that gentleman? I don't know. Everyone with a conscience should think on this and do it. To send migrants away, to leave them wherever you want, to leave them … it's something terrible, there is evil there. To send away a child from the womb of the mother is an assassination, because there is life. We must speak about these things clearly.” Bishop Thomas John Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois weighs in.

For years, all we got with Republicans was the promise of “the lesser of two evils.” Meanwhile, things always get worse, and now Republicans can't even win any more because the voters sense a lack of sincerity. There has to be a point when we finally pull the plug on “vote Republican no matter what.” In my view, that line has been drawn in the Utah gubernatorial race. We're joined by Utah state Rep. Phil Lyman, who is challenging Gov. Spencer Cox as a write-in candidate during the general election. Lyman makes the case for why this situation is different. He believes that he is the rightful nominee after having won the convention. He describes the web of corruption surrounding the players and the process through which Cox gathered signatures. He also shows how Cox is so liberal that it would actually be worse for him to win than the Democrat. This is something we must keep in mind for the future in other states, if we ever hope to finally break out of the vicious cycle of uniparty failure theater.  Learn more about your ad choices. SPECIAL GUEST  Brother Andre Marie Host of ReConquest aired only on the Crusade Radio Network Follow Brother on GAB and X - @Brother_Andre HEADLINE: Voices of Catholic Political Conscience, Past and Present by Brother Andre Marie We are on Buzzards Bay not actually Martha's Vineyard. Pools and bathtubs that is the only place Maggie will swim. To put it bluntly, the thirty-two years intervening from Buchanan's speech and the twenty-eight since the publication of Bork's book have witnessed the acceptance by the “conservative” mainstream of sodomy, abortion, and other forms of deep moral depravity. (I fear that the Republicans were always OK with usury, itself morally depraved and a font of other forms of moral turpitude.) Witness the talks from the just concluded Republican National Convention, where Lara Trump and others chose to include “gay or straight” into the categories of human diversity cast into irrelevance by the transcendent humanity of Americans that the Party of Trump embraces. We even heard a trite pious platitude of depravity, “It's all love” — a variation on the theme of “Love is love” — echoing in the hallowed halls of Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum, uttered by a porn star, no less. Peter Thiel who is a homosexual, PayPal which is one of his many corporate entities, they will deplatform you if you are anti-homosexual.  This is the new Republican party. The moral issues and natural law have been removed. Edward Feser on X posts a photo of a baby in utero with the comment “The Real Forgotten Man”. We don't endorse parties or candidates b/c we have the 501c(3) status but we can mention when things or platforms or stances are wrong. JD Vance was asked about the abortion pill. Aside from the moral question of lying, it is scandalize to say the abortion drug is okay. If he said that he is against the current LA law that has now categorized it a Class A controlled substance. They had 15 minutes of Make Israel Great Again and I cut it off during the convention. This is a difficult needle to thread here. Politics and Abortion The lesser of two evils and all. Someone must step up to the table and say no you are wrong and here is why. Social Moral teachings and statements in our platform - why can't we have that? What is so darned mystifying about these questions? Let's call a spade a spade and this is moral depravity. Amber Rose - why do we need to platform a porn star? When you select the people who speak at something like this, you are sending a signal. The Big Tent welcomes people who think the moral law is optional.  We need to stop and say…NO we are not okay with that. Let's push hard against this. We have a pro-abortion party in the Democrats and now we have a pro-choice party. That is the two choices in my humble opinion.  States Issues -  Political King Makers - that is a whole different level of donations. The claim is that JD Vance is a creature who is a product of Theil and others. The Lesser of Two Evils - Catholics should excise this from their language. We can never do evil so that a good can come from it. You aren't supposed to pick evil ever. The principle of double effect - a choice b/w two things. The good effect to save the mothers life.  The bad effect is that the child when removed from the tubes will die. If you do nothing the child and mother will die. There is a whole other role - the moral calculous that is not the lesser of two evils, it should be called The Principle of Double Effect! HEADLINE: The Lesser of Two Evils by Brother Andre Marie  Take The Win phrase - people say this and I don't believe this. Take the Win is often used to say something happened that isn't perfect but we can work with it but that labels and attitude that we can actually work with it. When this is applied to the political realm means….SHUT UP.

Trump is beating Biden in the polls in several key swing states. The Democrats have pushed the logic of ‘the lesser of two evils' argument for years, yet the country has moved to the right.
