Kim Guerin learned from an early age that a small First Nation could take on the Canadian government and win.Her father spearheaded a legal battle over lease rights that went to the Supreme Court. R v Guerin affirmed that Ottawa has a fiduciary duty to a First Nation, that it is in a position of trust to act on the First Nation's best interests.Musqueam is also part of the growing Land Code movement in Canada. Die Band „bölter.“ steht für ehrliche, handgemachte Musik. Eigenständig, eingängig und eigentlich genau so, wie viel Holz und wenig Blech klingen kann: kraftvoll und erdig. Wenn sie die Bühne betreten, erkennt man sofort deren Lebensfreude und Spaß am gemeinsamen Musizieren. Mit ihrer Musik schaffen sie einen Raum, in dem jeder die Zeit anhalten , seine Seele spüren und er selbst sein kann. Le nom du groupe fait référence au royaume de Bakuba, royaume qui a prospéré du 17ème au 19ème siècle au sud-ouest de l’actuel République Démocratique du Congo.C’est un groupe en activité depuis 1972, où se sont succédés plusieurs artistes, notamment les chanteurs Pepe Kalle, Papy Tex, Dilu Dilumona, les guitaristes Kinanga Nanzao dit « Boeing 737 » et « Doris » Ebuya Lange.On fera un de ces quatre une émission 100% congolaise pour vous expliquer la petite révolution qu’ont été rumba, soukous et les différents leaders de ces musiques... Pitié – Tabu Ley Rochereau (Congo)Un monument de la musique congolaise et sans doute même de la musique africaine !Il est le père du rappeur Youssoupha et de quelques autres 70 enfants.Youssoupha qui d’ailleurs à reprit ce morceau sous le titre « Les disques de mon père ».Il était, après le décès de Wendo Kolosoy, en 2008, l'un des derniers survivants de la génération qui a inventé la rumba congolaise, à la fin des années 1950« Lui et Franco sont les pères de la musique congolaise moderne, affirme Ray Lema. Pour nous, Tabu Ley représentait la rumba mélodique et Franco, la rumba groove. »Dans la compétition incessante qui oppose les différents orchestres congolais, Tabu Ley Rochereau est constamment obligé d'innover. Et c’est ainsi qu'il crée ses propres danses dont le soum djoum est l'une des plus célèbres. Dans les années soixante-dix, Tabu Ley Rochereau adopte le style vestimentaire des chanteurs soul afro-américains avec coupe afro et pantalons à pattes d'éléphant. La zaïrianisation lancée par Mobutu à partir de 1971 ne lui plaît guère : Tabu Ley Rochereau décide de s'exiler aux Etats-Unis puis en Belgique. En 1997, Tabu Ley Rochereau revient au pays après la chute de Mobutu. Il reprend alors ses activités musicales mais entre aussi en politique en créant le mouvement la Force du Peuple. Tabu Ley Rochereau est ainsi élu député et devient en 2005 vice-gouverneur de Kinshasa. L'imposant héritage de Tabu Ley Rochereau se retrouve dans différentes compilations, notement dans deux petits bijoux Rochereau et l'African Fiesta National 1964/1965/1966 et Rochereau et l'African Fiesta 1968/1969. -- Les Chants des Fauves – Tinariwen (Mali)« Fais de ta plainte un chant d'amour pour ne plus savoir que tu souffres » dit un proverbe touareg.Et c’est vrai que dans leur musique on reconnaît toute la poésie de ce peuple nomade qui vie dans les étendues désertiques du Sahara, derrière leurs habits amples et leurs magnifiques sheshs colorés.Disséminés entre le Niger, le Mali, l’Algérie le Burkina et la Libye, dans la rocaille et les dunes, c’est dans cette région qu’au 20ème siècle, ils seront le dernier peuple d'Afrique de l’Ouest, soumis par les Français.Tinariwen est un groupe de musique touareg, originaire de Tessalit dans le nord du Mali.Leur musique, assouf, qui signifie en tamasheq la solitude, la nostalgie, fait la synthèse entre le blues, le rock, et la musique traditionnelle touareg. Rosalía – Wganda Kenya (Colombie)Les gens de ma génération se souviennent du gros Carlos chaloupant, à la télé, costume de satin, à fleur, ou alors avec un robe madras, la tenue caractéristique des doudous créoles... Danser, chanter, avec son grand et beau sourire ! Bref ! Moi il me manque Yvan-Chrysostome Dolto alias Carlos, qui chantait lui aussi ce titre Rosalie.C’était les Wganda Kenya, un groupe afro-colombian, et comment ça pourrait ne pas en être autrement avec un nom aussi explicite que Ouganda Kenya.Hommage à la culture africaine débarquée sur les côtes caribéennes, quelques siècles auparavant ! C’est d’ailleurs sur ces mêmes côtes, autour de cette ville que l’on nomma Carthagène des Indes, au bord de la mer des Caraïbes, que les colons espagnols établirent les premiers campements du continent sud-américain. -- Weekend – Patrick Balisidya & Afro 70 Band (Tanzania)Le petit nouveau de la semaine... La Tanzanie.L’Afro 70 Band extrêmement connu dans les années 70 en Afrique de l’Est.Patrick Balisidya décédé en 2004, depuis il n'y a presque aucune réception de mariage en Tanzanie qui ne joue pas son célèbre tube « Harusi » qui justment signifie mariage en swahili. A soccer star was found dead in a bush “almost beheaded and with his genitals severed,” according to reports. Sao Paulo star Daniel Correa Freitas, 24, was discovered in Sao Jose dos Pinhais, a city in Brazil’s southern state of Parana, on Saturday night. A tweet from his Serie A club — the top division in Brazil — posted in the early hours of Sunday confirmed the worst. It read: “The Sao Paulo football club deeply regrets the death of midfielder Daniel Correa Freitas. The club sympathizes and pays condolences to the athlete’s family.” The official cause of death has not been confirmed. But a detailed report in local newspaper Band B claimed Freitas was the victim of “torture.” Quoting a municipal guard, the report stated: “From the appearance of the body, it was a very violent situation. The man had two deep cuts on his neck, his head was nearly beheaded, and his genitals were severed.” It was claimed that people walking through the area discovered the body. The report went on to say: “This road is a bit deserted and already known for the dumping of corpses. Everything indicates the man was executed here on the street and dragged for about 100 feet.” Known as Daniel, the attacking midfielder started his career with Botafogo before moving to Sao Paulo in 2015. Sao Paulo is one of the biggest and most popular soccer teams in Brazil. Correa Freitas spent the last two years away from the club on loan, first with second-division side Coritiba, before moving to Ponte Preta and then fellow second-tier side Sao Bento — the club he was playing for at the time of his death. Botafogo was among the clubs to offer their condolences.
