Loch's latest book, The Third Option: Covert Action and American Foreign Policy, examines the history of the complicated and sometimes controversial usage of covert action by the U.S. international affairs.  Loch's decades-long career in foreign policy and intelligence has brought him to the forefront of some of the most seminal moments within US intelligence reform: he served as special assistant to the chair of the Church Committee, staff director of the House Subcommittee on Intelligence Oversight, and worked directly with the chair of the Aspin-Brown Commission. In this two-part episode of SpyCast, Andrew and Loch unpack what makes a covert action operation successful, and how we can learn from intelligence failures and past mistakes.  And…  How many people have a society named after them? Re Ribbon Week is a long standing prevention event that we take part in every year as a way to remind kids to stay away from drugs and alcohol. It was amazing to see how much this prevention advocate learned about Red Ribbon week's history. Then to find out that a close personal friend of mine and long standing prevention advocate was one of the first youth to sign the drug free pledge. This advocate and Red Ribbon pioneer will give you amazing insight into the beginnings of this program and how all prevention programs have taken us to the point we are today! The Seattle Seahawks get a 27-17 win over the New York Jets as the team heads into their bye week. Considering the team's dominance at MetLife, is it time to start referring to the stadium as CenturyLink east? And how gratifying was it to see, just days after an article saying how a one-legged Wilson was as useful as a right handed Jim Zorn, Russell Wilson deliver one of the best performances of his career. Just barely into his fifth season, Wilson is standing alone among quarterbacks who came before him. The guys explain. Wilson isn't the only one who gets a ton of credit for the win. The guys talk about how the Seahawks first rounder picked right back up where he left off in the preseason and with Justin Britt's pancake blocks, and Glowinski having a solid performance are giving this interior offensive line an attitude we haven't seen from a Seahawks offensive line in recent memory. Jimmy Graham and Doug Baldwin continue to catch nearly everything thrown their way while the defense is as dominant as ever. As the team heads into the bye week, the guys look back at what the team has done coming out of the bye week as well as their records going into each bye in the Carroll era. The expectation for the Atlanta Falcons is that they'll get shut down by a Denver defense in Week 5, but we'll reserve additional thoughts until next week after seeing what they can do against the Broncos. Do better nods go out to Carolina Panthers Mike Tolbert and New York Giants Odell Beckham Jr. while a rookie Seahawks receiver gets his recognition in Better at Life. A Ryder Cup moment closes the show, because it truly was something a person would never see happen in any other professional sporting event.
