Lyricism has always been one of the core elements of Hip Hop. While the mainstream juggernauts sometimes allow us to forget that with very easily consumable rap, it's wildly refreshing to discover younger artists who still focus on the sophistication of substance in music. FUNERAL Ant Bell has been one of these said artists since we learned about his music a few years back and it only seems like he just keeps getting better and better. His latest project “There's Glory In the Fire, Vol. 2: The Wind Beneath My Wings” has earned him even more praise amongst his peers and a 5/5 score on our #RedCupsAndRatings segment which was one of very few this year alone‼️This week join #CharlieMaSheen, #KASH, & #Bellez, as we welcome the South End native back to the couch! This time we talk about changes in his life like wrapping up his Masters degree at #HarvardUniversity, the release of his latest album, separation from the collective he used to be a part of, his father's health complications, & SO MUCH MORE‼️ FUNERAL Ant Bell has such an explosive yet smooth delivery so you know we had to have him give another classic #RedCupsAndRap freestyle to tie everything together at the end of the convo‼️ GO TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL NOW TO CHECK IT OUT.PODCAST AUDIO OUT NOW ON ALL DSPs — FULL VISUAL DROPS TOMORROW ON YOUTUBE @ 12:00PM‼️ TAP INNNNNN‼️CHECK OUT ALL OF OUR CONTENT:www.CWTFB.com

Bette Midler today is a beloved legacy star, best known for her comic witch in Disney's Hocus Pocus (1993) and its 2022 sequel. She has also gained prominence for sentimental, anthemic ballads like "Wind Beneath My Wings," her initiation of green space projects in New York City, and tussling with Donald Trump on Twitter. Her profile is that of an articulate, civic-minded matriarch enjoying thoroughly mainstream stardom. But more than fifty years earlier she emerged from the steam of the subterranean Continental Baths as the Divine Miss M, the bawdy, campy, fearless alter ego she created in front of an audience of towel-clad gay men who came to the baths seeking not just sex, but a sense of community and safety from an often-harrowing outside world. "I was able to take chances on that stage that I could not have taken anywhere else," she later wrote. "Ironically, I was freed from fear by people who, at the time, were ruled by fear. And for that I will always be grateful." Overnight, Bette Midler became a much-loved icon of the gay community.

Heather Gray joins Stephanie Shonekan during this episode to discuss the Bette Midler and Eddie and Gerald Levert versions of “Wind Beneath My Wings,” a song about love, death and what it does to those who live on. It's a ballad that especially resonates with people who lost loved ones to the September 11 attacks in 2001. And in this episode, Stephanie and Heather also discuss how this song helps them treasure their relationships with their parents.

In this emotional episode, Chiquis breaks down two very special songs: “Paloma Blanca” and “Wind Beneath My Wings.” Not only was “Paloma Blanca” her first single, but it was a song written in response to her late mother Jenni Rivera's “Paloma Negra.” A refreshed Mariachi version was released on December 9 as an ode to Jenni. Then, we hear about “Wind Beneath My Wings” by Bette Midler. It's a song that's comforted Chiquis throughout the years because it was dedicated to her by her mother.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Official Hot Country Podcast Website: http://www.hotcountrypodcast.com Chris McKay interviews Billboard, CMA, ACM, and Grammy award winner Gary Morris. Gary is a singer-songwriter with over 25 charted singles. Gary is also a star of television, movies and the broadway stage. From WIKIPEDIA - Although his credits include more than twenty-five other chart singles on the Billboard country charts, "The Wind Beneath My Wings" including five No. 1 hits. He has also released nine studio albums, mostly in the country pop vein, with his 1983 album Why Lady Why having earned a gold certification from the RIAA. "Headed for a Heartache" that song reached No. 8 on the country chart in late 1981. Two follow-up singles Why Lady Why focused more on ballads. One of the album's four singles was "Wind Beneath My Wings,"[1] which showcased Morris' soaring tenor. Written by Larry Henley and Jeff Silbar, the song about heroes — which Morris recorded as a ballad — became one of the earliest hit versions of the song; a better-known version by Bette Midler would top the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989. The Why Lady Why album also featured the ballad "The Love She Found in Me,""Velvet Chains" and the up-tempoed title track as singles; all of them peaked in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Also during this time, Morris recorded a duet with Lynn Anderson called "You're Welcome to Tonight," After two more top 10 hits in 1984 — "Between Two Fires" and "Second Hand Heart" — Morris scored his first No. 1 country hit in March 1985 with "Baby Bye Bye." During what was his most prolific hit-making part of his career, Morris had three more solo No. 1 hits during the next two years: "I'll Never Stop Loving You," "100% Chance of Rain" and "Leave Me Lonely." He also recorded a chart-topping duet with Crystal Gayle, "Makin' Up For Lost Time (The Dallas Lovers Song)." Although he rarely saw any success outside country music, many of Morris' hit songs were in the pop-country vein during the height of his career. Morris had two more hits in 1987: the solo "Plain Brown Wrapper" and another duet with Gayle called "Another World." The latter song was used for many years as the theme for the NBC soap opera.[1] After that, Morris' success on the country charts began to fade, as tastes switched once again to neo-traditional country music. Morris later opened a music publishing office in Nashville, with one of his employees being future star Faith Hill. In early 2008, Morris released two gospel albums. His most recent CD is called, Faith and Freedom, dedicated to the military troops. Gary Morris performed two songs featured on Juice Newton's album Duets: Friends & Memories, which was released in October 2010. Morris took a break from touring to pursue a serious acting career. One of his first big roles was in the Broadway production of Les Misérables, as Jean Valjean. The full symphonic recording of Les Misérables is a platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning album and features Morris' vocals throughout in the role of Valjean, including his version of the song "Bring Him Home." Morris has also appeared in a production of Puccini's opera La Boheme with fellow country/pop singer Linda Ronstadt. In the 1980s, he did a stint on The Colbys as blind country music singer Wayne Masterson, signed to Dominique Deveraux's label. On the show, he sang "Try Gettin' Over You" from his Anything Goes release. In the 1990s, he spent a great deal of time working on music projects, such as the PBS special concert production, in Moscow, Russia, in the Tretyakov Gallery. He returned to country music in the 1990s, performing in concerts and as a record producer. Morris hosted and also produced the Nashville network's The North American Sportsman. In 1992, he appeared in an episode of Designing Women as Julia's surgeon. RECENT TEXAN BY THE GRACE OF GOD Gary's new album “Sense of Pride” released on Sept. 14 to all major online retailers including iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Play, Spotify and more. Co-produced by Morris and Michael Bonagura (Baillie & The Boys), the album features nine songs, eight of which are written or co-written by Morris, one song – “The Moment” – was co-written by Kathie Baillie and Michael Bonagura. “Sense of Pride” is Morris' 13th album ````````````````````````````````````````````` https://www.facebook.com/hotcountrypodcast https://www.hotcountrypodcast.com https://www.facebook.com/OfficialChrisMcKay

To understand Eddie Levert, you can start with the journey of the O'Jays and keep going because there is much more. Eddie Levert was born June 16, 1942 in Bessemer, Alabama. At the age of 6 Eddie moved to Canton, Ohio where he attended church regularly and joined the church choir and began his musical journey. As Eddie continued singing into his teenage years he became a recognized voice in the church choir, sang in school plays and performed regularly on a gospel radio show. By the time he reached high school, young Eddie Levert knew that singing was what he wanted to do, teaming up with classmates Walter Williams, William Powell, Bobby Massey and Bill Isles to form a group called the Triumps. The Triumps played locally in Canton opening for different acts, playing sock hops and just about everything that came up. Their big break came when The Triumphs traveled to Cinncinatti to canvas King Records. King Records President Sid Nathan, immediately impressed, changed their name to The Mascots and signed them to his label. The Mascots' popularity grew as their songs could be heard with increased frequency on Cleveland radio stations. In 1969, The O'Jays signed with Philadelphia International Records where they released hit after hit and were propelled to stardom. The O'Jays later signed with EMI-Manhattan Records and Levert and Williams began co-writing and producing their own tracks. Their EMI debut album, “Let Me Touch You”, went to number three R&B and boasted "Lovin' You," the number one R&B hit from the summer 1987. In 1984, Eddie saw a proud moments as his sons Gerald and Sean, both still in high school, announced that they wanted to follow their dad's footsteps and make their way in the music industry. Eddie, using his influence, introduced his young sons around the industry while warning them that dad could help open the doors but it was themselves that would have to make it! And make it they did, as they teamed up with good friend Marc Gordon recording under the group name LeVert with four of their seven albums going platinum. In 1992 Eddie and son Gerald recorded "Baby Hold On to Me" which hit #1 R&B and #37 Pop on the charts. In 1995 Eddie and son Gerald recorded "Father & Son" Album with "Already Missing You" hit #7 R&B and #75 Pop on the charts. The album began the very successful 'Father and Son" tour that continues for years to come. In 1996 Eddie and son Gerald recorded "Wind Beneath My Wings" which hit #30 on the R&B charts. In 1998 The O'Jays receive the Rhythm & Blues Foundation's Pioneer Award presented by Eddie Levert's son Gerald at a ceremony in New York. In 2006, upon returning from a very successful South African tour with sons Gerald and Sean, tragedy struck as Eddie's son Gerald unexpectingly lost his life due to interactions between his prescribed medications. In 2007 Eddie and son Gerald's album recorded in 2006, "Something To Talk About" was released followed by the publication of the highly anticipated book "I Got Your Back" co-authored by Eddie and son Gerald. In 2008 tragedy struck again as Eddie's son Sean became a fatality of being denied needed prescription medication by government officials in Ohio. Later that year, while still trying to cope with the lost of both sons, Eddie and his late son Gerald are presented with "Best Duo or Group" Image Award. In 2009, The O'Jays were awarded BET's ‘Lifetime Achievement Award' and Eddie Levert was awarded the “Heroes and Legends Pacesetter Award”. On January 29, 2011 The O'Jays received the “Trumpet Lifetime Achievement Award”. Throughout Eddie Levert's career, the O'Jays have contributed 10 Gold Albums with 9 going Platinum and 10 #1 hits. Currently, Mr. Levert is actively performing and touring the world with the O'Jays well as performing as a solo artist currently touring with Johhny Gill, Keith Sweat and others.. In the Winter of 2011, Eddie Levert, Sr. completed his debut solo CD, “Eddie Levert: I Still Have It”, due to be released Spring of 2012. Mr. Levert is currently busy in the studio working on his next major project; the much anticipated release of the latest O'Jays CD. GARY MORRIS is known world-wide for his vocal mastery. His recording career garnered five #1 and 16 Top 10 singles, including “Why Lady Why,” “The Love She Found in Me,” “Baby Bye Bye.” Morris' original rendition of the classic “Wind Beneath My Wings” won both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music “Song of the Year” awards. Morris was also named Billboard's “Male Artist of the Year” early in his career. At the height of his Nashville recording career, the Texas-bred tenor was tapped to play the lead role of Jean Valjean in Broadway's epic hit Les Misérables, to critical acclaim. ‘Sense of Pride' is Morris' latest and his 13th album release. JASON COLEMAN & MEAGAN TAYLOR grew up with two legends at their instruments. Coleman's grandfather is the legendary pianist Floyd Cramer whose “slip note” piano style was an essential part of countless country, pop, and rock hits in the 1950s and ‘60s and exemplified by his 1960 smash hit, “Last Date”. Taylor picked up the guitar at 18 and turned to her uncle, one of the world's preeminent guitar virtuosos and most prolific record producers, “Uncle Chester” Chet Atkins for help in the months before he passed away. Their new album ‘Feel Like Home' honors their families love of music with a deep appreciation of the rich musical heritage while carrying it forward. It’s our chicken wing fandango! Where are the best wings in our region? Let us know. Jim Welch, one of the chicken wing kings in our state, joins us for the whole hour—and with abandon—we dig in to buckets of excellent chicken wings from J. Timothy’s Taverne in Plainville. Jim explains why the Buffalo chicken wings from J. Timothy’s are among CT’s best year after year. Plus, the gang offers up all kinds of ways to flavor your wings at home (Think: mole, chimichurri, teriyaki, truffle salt. . .). Finally, everybody knows wings pair well with cold beer, but Alex Province and Mark Raymond share two interesting wine pairings you’ll want to try with wings: one fruity red and one extra-dry bubbly prosecco. Both enhance the spicy party goin’ on in your mouth when you tuck in to a platter (or bucket!) of wings. As a bonus, Faith shares tips about which smoked salmon is best to buy and a surprising appliance that’ll dry your chicken (whole or breast) so that it crisps up beautifully in the oven. Kirsty Young's castaway is the talk show host Jerry Springer. His life has been split between serving the public and outraging them. His first career was in politics where, as a life-long Democrat, one of his early jobs was working with Bobby Kennedy. Then he found global fame with his controversial TV programme, The Jerry Springer Show. He says that in politics and in his TV show, he is always on the side of the powerless and disenfranchised. It's a philosophy, he says, he learned from his parents. They were among the last Jews to escape from Berlin in August 1939 and their memories and fears of that time shaped the entire family.[Taken from the original programme material for this archive edition of Desert Island Discs]Favourite track: Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler Book: Photo album of family & friends Alternative to Bible: Torah Luxury: A cheeseburger machine.
