India conducted military strikes against Pakistan, and Pakistan's defense minister has pledged retaliation. Investors appear to be expecting a relatively contained situation. It is unlikely that global risk appetite will be affected by these events.
TVC 688.1: TV Confidential remembers longtime radio host, author, recording artist, and game show legend Wink Martindale (Gambit, Debt, Tic Tac Dough, Winking at Life, “Deck of Cards”) with a special program-length tribute to the man who became synonymous with the words “emcee” and “host.” Wink Martindale passed away on Tuesday, Apr. 15, 2025 at the age of ninety-one. In this segment, Steve Beverly, retired professor of broadcast journalism at Union University in Jackson, TN (the hometown of Wink Martindale), game show historian, and the host of Steve Beverly's TV Classics, talks to Ed about Martindale developed his skills as a “quality ad-libber” early in his career by doing play-by-play for high school sports broadcasts; how he was often a de facto producer on the set of his game shows, always adapting to changing conditions in the format of the game (particularly in moments when things when awry); and why, unlike most broadcasters, Martindale was never afraid to take a risk by going to a bigger market. Steve Beverly recently re-aired Wink Comes Home, a 90-minute special that he hosted in November 2007 at Union University in which Wink discussed his life and career and took questions from the studio audience, as part of Steve Beverly's TV Classics. That episode is now available for viewing on demand on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop by going to EPlusTV6.com or, if you have the PBS app, typing in West TN PBS, where you'll find Steve Beverly's TV Classics on the drop-down menu of Local Shows.
Another mostly unfocussed scattergun of a podcast where Stu has done another bloody race and is all full of himself and Amy hasn't done a race and doesn't give a shit. We talk head injuries, Weird Al Yankovic, the start of silly costume season, races that don't exist, and have serous worries about our audience.
In today's episode we talk about classic 80's movie training montages, listener comments, a confusing fitness Instagram account, and the proper way to do deadlifts and squats. Text: Proverbs 16:28-30 (ESV) 28 A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends. 29 A man of violence entices his neighbor and leads him in a way that is not good. 30 Whoever winks his eyes plans dishonest things; he who purses his lips brings evil to pass. BEWARE OF THE EVIL MAN An evil man is dishonest. He leverages on spreading lies. Lies can create a rift even between friends. The apostle Paul wisely counsels Timothy to reject anyone who aspires to be a church leader if he tolerates slander within his family (1 Tim 3:11). Jesus anticipated how often dishonest statements would be thrown against His people. He said, "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account" (Mat 5:11). An evil man is violent. The Hebrew word translated "violence" here is hā'mās'. This includes brute force assault, as well as oppression or unjustness and cruelty. He is deliberate in enticing people to be violent like him. Solomon has warned, “ "My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. If they say, 'Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood …throw in your lot with us' … my son, do not walk in the way with them." [Prov 1:10-15] Evil people are subtle. ‘Winking the eye' refers to those who use subtle signals to communicate with other criminals. These "shifty" facial signs are also seen in Proverbs 10:10. The imagery here is of someone who plans evil and conspires with others to secretly spring violence on an unsuspecting person (Prov 16:27; Prov 1:11, 18; Prov 16:29). But, nothing is hidden from God (Heb 4:13). He sees the heart and discerns the intentions of the heart and mind (1 Sam 16:7). He will not fail to judge the unrighteous. This is our comfort against the evil man. Listen and FOLLOW us on our podcast ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

The 1920 movie, Algol, some say, was the forestructuring of how Nazism began—with one man who had the power to rule the world with high tech given to him by an alien, Prometheus that he used to build a war machine which could manipulate his followers. Now, the technocratic new age is upon us where we are being encouraged to plug into the Internet of Things. We are told that in the future technology will do everything for us. The way it will be done is through the algorithms. Tonight on Ground Zero, Clyde Lewis talks with esoteric researcher and author, Ryan Gable about ALGOL - IN A WINKING OF THE EYE.Originally Broadcast On 5/14/21

What does the word capable mean to you? My guest, Dr. Deborah Winking, defines a capable person as an individual living a meaning-filled life determined by them and those who love them with the maximum level of autonomy and agency that they can achieve and authentically access. She's on a mission to show that there's a version of capable for every child that is unique to them, and it's what she writes about in her new book, Raising Capable Kids. The 12 Habits Every Parent Needs Regardless of their Child's Label or Challenge. Deborah, an educator, school leader, consultant and researcher, has a Ph.D in Educational Psychology, and is the mother of four children, including one child born with a rare neurological syndrome. She's worn many hats over the course of her career, including working with and advocating for countless children and families, teaching at the New England Center for Autism where she started the first work experience and supported employment program there, and conducting a 5-year evaluation of the New York City Schools Early Childhood Inclusive Education Initiative. She currently works in a public school teaching bilingual disabled learners. In addition to the book we're talking about today, Deborah is also the author of a memoir called Capable: A Story of Triumph For Children the World has Judged as "Different.” But for today's show, Deb shared the story of raising her son Jack and how focusing on the near future, or the next 15 yards as she calls it, helped her stay grounded. We also explored the concept of capable through multiple examples, the role of agency, our vision as parents, and more. I hope you enjoy our conversation!
