With a general election a certainty at some point this year, two recent developments have alarmed organisations representing disabled people. Before 2020, there was a fund that provided financial aid to disabled people running for elective office, but that fund has not yet been reinstated. And also: its being argued that in the Prime Minister's latest cabinet reshuffle, the role of Minister for Disabled People has been downgraded. We discuss what these developments mean for visually impaired people. Helping us do that is Lord Blunkett, Steve Darling, who will be running to be the MP of Torbay this year, Lia Nici, who will be running for MP of Great Grimsby & Cleethorpes and Anna Tylor, Chair of the RNIB.Presenter: Peter White Producer: Beth Hemmings Production Coordinator: Liz Poole Website image description: Peter White sits smiling in the centre of the image and he is wearing a dark green jumper. Above Peter's head is the BBC logo (three separate white squares house each of the three letters). Bottom centre and overlaying the image are the words "In Touch" and the Radio 4 logo (the word Radio in a bold white font, with the number 4 inside a white circle). The background is a bright mid-blue with two rectangles angled diagonally to the right. Both are behind Peter, one is a darker blue and the other is a lighter blue.
The tragic death of youth team player Cameron Walsh and his father Dave rocked the club, community and town as a whole this week and therefore the guys begin the episode with a tribute to the pair. A link to the GoFundMe page set up to support their family is below if you would like to make a donation. Football doesn't seem important in light of such devastating news but there was a game to discuss this weekend never the less and what a game it was. The panelists do their best to pick the bones out of the crazy 5-5 draw with Notts County, then profile the three new signings made by the club on Friday, look ahead to our trip to Harrogate next weekend and finish with Adam's review of the new ‘All Town Aren't We' film which has been showing at Cleethorpes cinema this past fortnight. Player, coach, manager, scout and pundit.Chris Hargreaves arrived at Home Park in 1998 and the Green Army were treated to a couple of solid years of his luscious flowing locks.Born in Cleethorpes, he made his name as an exciting centre-forward for his home town club, Grimsby Town.Being a local hero, in a successful team was becoming a distraction, so a move to Hull and a conversion to a midfielder set Chris up for the rest of his career.Remembered at Argyle for a thunderbolt against Reading in the FA Cup and for his energetic performances in midfield, Chris went on to win a couple of promotions in the latter stages of his career before becoming a successful coach and manager. He can now been seen in commentary boxes and television screens, across the country as he adds even more strings to a pretty full bow. This is the story of Chris Hargreaves.

The UK's first indoor salmon farm could be built in Cleethorpes. The company behind it says it's a safe and efficient way to produce fish and avoids the potential problems of sea lice, pollution and escapes faced by farms at sea or in lochs. Opponents say it's factory farming. All week we're looking at growing the ingredients for medicines. Today we hear about animal products in pharmaceuticals. Boris Johnson is trying to stave off a Tory rebellion over his lockdown plan for England, after suggestions that the measures may be extended beyond 2 December. Martin Vickers, Conservative MP for Cleethorpes, tells Bloomberg Westminster's Caroline Hepker and Sebastian Salek he'll back the proposal and would also consider voting to prolong them if virus cases don't fall. But just how realistic is reducing the R rate to below 1? Dr Arthur Hosie, director of life sciences and education at the University of Staffordshire, says it's ambitious, but the four nations will need to work together.
To mark the 75th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki this week, the Imperial War Museum commissioned artist and stage designer Es Devlin and her Japanese collaborator Machiko Weston to make a short film in memory of those who died. They discuss their resulting artwork, I Saw the World End. New Perspectives, the Midlands company that takes theatre to rural areas and usually performs in village halls, has come up with a novel idea. For its latest production created during lockdown it has embraced old technology: 'Love from Cleethorpes' is a drama told on postcards. Every few days a new postcard arrives at the homes of the audience and, over a couple of weeks, the story unfolds. Tom Sutcliffe is joined by New Perspectives artistic director Jack McNamara. Literary critic Suzi Feay and arts journalist Kohinoor Sahota review Ali Smith's new novel Summer, the final instalment in her seasonal quartet of books, and discuss arts stories from the week including I'm a Celebrity moving from the Australian jungle to a British castle and Vogue theming their September issue on activism. The final guest for the Front Row Lockdown Discoveries, where artists and creators select something cultural that has given them pleasure or inspiration in the dark months of isolation, is Alys Tomlinson, Photographer of the Year at the 2018 Sony World Photography Awards. She describes her discovery – zoom portraiture. Presenter: Tom Sutcliffe Producer: Timothy Prosser

With ENTITY’s troops in full retreat, only Doctor WHeasel and Advick Goose stand between the inter-dimensional terror of the Spectral Lords and Earth. And even if they can deal with these foes, there’s still the little matter of who shot Doctor WHeasel (twice) and why to answer, in the final part of this 1970s set adventure.
The Spectral invasion of 1970s Britain continues (did no one ask them for their passports?) as Advick Goose and the forces of ENTITY are at the literal beachhead of an inter-dimension incursion. But if bullets and bravado can’t save the day, does all hope lie in the invalided Doctor WHeasel? Or is it going to be up to the Brigade Leader to pull everyone’s coals out of the fire? Heavens above, Earth’s in big trouble if it is!
Doctor WHeasel’s been shot by an unknown assailant. Advick’s had a funny turn. And if that’s not enough, the Brigade Leader and ENTITY are facing an invasion from another dimension at a sunny seaside resort. Could things get any worse? Yes, almost certainly in the next episode!
Toby finds out that exploding glass tables are more common than you think; particularly if they belong to your mother-in-law. He also finds out about some breaking news concerning public toilets in Cleethorpes. And Toby also opens a can of worms when he asks Kat and Nick if they own a bread bin! Want to get in touch? Email your messages to toby@bbc.co.uk
Dateline: 1977 Cleethorpes seaside town, and Doctor WHeasel, Advick and the rest of ENTITY are on their way to investigate a possible alien induced zombie breakout. But is there something more malign, more malevolent and more bizarre than they can imagine behind the unexpected events? And will anyone fetch Advick an ice-cream? Find out, in part two of this five part adventure.
All new fourth series! Mostly new WEZDIS! Same old Doctor WHeasel and Chums! Doctor WHeasel and Advick stumble into a potential zombie invasion (from beyond the stars) alongside their old comrades in arms ENTITY. Can the Brigade Leader convince the Time-Weasel to lend a hand? And more importantly, WHO is the Assassin of Time and what does she want with the furry one? Catch every episode of the last three seasons of Doctor WHeasel’s Adventures on Anchor.fm and YouTube

It’s off to the seaside for Episode Five of ‘A Trip Down Memory Lane’ as Craig, Simon, Nathan and Cam head off to see a commanding defender turned heroic leader in Stuart Watkiss who, back in 2002, helped the Stags over the line to their first promotion in a decade. Stuart, dubbed ‘Skip’, worked his way through the heart of the Stags back-line before turning to coaching – taking up a role in the Stags youth-team overing seeing the development of the “Amber Generation” of Liam Lawrence, Craig Disley, Lee Williamson, Bobby Hassell etc – before moving up to assistant boss, and eventually manager. Skip recalls his journey from playing into management and passionately remembers his time at Field Mill, with stories from on and off the pitch – including encounters with a ‘Dodgy’ future assistant manager and a rather rude awakening into coaching – proof that romance is far from dead in Mansfield. Also this week, Skip recalls his greatest achievement as Stags boss in delivering promotion and takes on former team-mates and players in the ‘It’s All About You Quiz’. You don't need me to tell you that this week's podcast is packed to the brim - nay, the absolute brink - with intellectual anecdotes and rye observations from Chris and Dom's holiday (in a caravan) to Cleethorpes. This podcast definitely does not contain mentions of Big Willy Matt's big willy, chat about ‘Snatch' or Dom's ‘BJ incident' with a guy called Mike. Definitely not. In addition to all that serious stuff: - Ever seen Pat Butcher smoke a bong? Chris has. - Australian PM, Malcolm Turnbull, gets a makeover. - PLUS, thanks to you lovely lot, The Royal British Legion is doing very well! Enjoy! The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Weekdays 6:30-10am RadioX.co.uk
To get us in the spirit, let's start with a quote from Michael Jackson's Thriller (written by Rod Temperton from Cleethorpes). AHEM, "the foulest stench is in the air". Yeah, caused by Chris farting all over a Led Zeppelin classic! COMING UP: - Shaun Ryder (film star) tells us how he accidentally created the title for a HUGE Gorillaz track. - Ross Kemp's in, but is he harder than Chuck Norris? Chris and Matt discuss. - Warwick Davis introduces the team to Tenable. Pippa's keen, Chris makes his feelings clear too. - John Robins is high in the studio. - Hear all about Chris' lonely (and therefore slightly creepy) Halloween night in. - Also is Chris Martin's Grandad the reason the clocks go back? - PLUS We find out which member of The Chris Moyles Show team can't rustle up a spooky laugh. MWAHAHAHA! The Chris Moyles Show 6:30AM-10AM Radio X Radiox.co.uk

Podcast #48 of the bi-weekly Trackhunter podcast, this episode is mixed by Sally Love. Sally Love is an emerging Techno DJ based in London, UK. Buying her first set of decks in 2014, she cut her teeth at basement clubs around London, including The Souls, The Waiting Room and Shelter, and played many of her first gigs alongside the East London DJ Collective, 'The Dalston Club'. Sally has gone on to feature as a guest DJ for a number of established club nights, including Tribal Sessions, Circus, Key of Life, Under My Feet, His & Hers, Alfresco, and SOLU, playing in some of London's most iconic club venues such as EGG, Fire, Lightbox, 93 Feet East and Club Aquarium, as well as playing at venues in Ibiza, New York and Rome too. Her first taste of the house music scene was attending beach parties, illegal raves and underground club nights in her Northern hometown Cleethorpes in the mid 1990s, a passion which has stayed with her right through to today, and influenced her musical style and DJ sets. Now holding a residency at EGG London with the monthly techno party PROXY, Sally is gaining a reputation for playing big tech beats, and pushing the crowd further with her relentless techno sets. Featuring tracks found exclusively using the Trackhunter music discovery app. Check it out at http://www.trackhunter.co.uk

Over 100,000 visitors descended on Cleethorpes for Armed Forces Day. The Lincolnshire town proudly welcomed members of all three services, veterans & cadets to the national event. Chris Kaye was there catching up with some of the people involved including 102 Battalion REME.
The 8th episode of the Avenue Red Podcast comes from UK underground hero Carl_H (real name Carl Hardy) from Cleethorpes in the lower North East of England (though officially classed as "somewhere down South" to the folk from up here in Newcastle). Along with musical cohort Brendan Clark, Carl runs and is resident at a London-based Deep House night called Northern Purpose, which alongside it's own highly respected podcast series of the same name has a stunning roster of past guests including Daniel Bell, Mike Huckaby, Dubbyman and Jane Fitz. You get the idea! Carl also co-runs and spins records at Collective Minds in Birmingham, yet another name clearly established on the map of the UK underground music scene having had 2 big events last year that drew a lot of attention with their dazzlingly good line-ups. When we received this stunning all-vinyl mix we couldn't identify a single track. That was a first. Anyway, in his's own words... "The mix is basically a builder so you get a bit of everything from deep dub / house / techno / minimal / electronic. A lot of nice new records in there and also some old gems (in my eyes)." Carl Hardy, January 2014 Northern Purpose :: http://northernpurpose.com/ @carl-h-northern-purpose @northernpurpose ===== No tracklist was provided for this mix, but do feel free to ask for track ID's in the comments.
