On today's Podcast, we have Aaron Rolph, an Adventurer and Photographer. Aaron recounts his recent solo attempt to ski the Haute route non-stop, which he completed in just 24 hours. Anyone unfamiliar with the Haute Route is a 125km high altitude journey that connects the iconic Alpine towns of Chamonix and Zermatt. The route was first pioneered by the English Alpine club as far back as the 1860s and has since become arguably the most prestigious and coveted multi-day ski tour in the world. The route from Chamonix to Zermatt via Verbier is usually skied over a week, covers 125km, and climbs almost 8,000m in ascent.In doing so, he became the first person in the world to complete the popular Verbier route in a single push, proving that ordinary people can achieve the extraordinary if they just set their mind to it. On 6th August 2016, Darren Edward's life changed forever. Whilst rock climbing in North Wales, he was involved in a severe fall that would leave him with a life-changing injury. With a rock section unexpectedly shifting below his feet, he was sent tumbling uncontrollably toward his climbing partner below. The damage he sustained would leave him instantly paralysed from the chest down with a severe spinal cord injury. Isaac Kenyon is an Eco-Adventurer who has cycled the length of the UK with a twist: he cycled on land and used water bikes to cycle across the sea, allowing him to include the Orkney Islands and Isles of Scilly in their journey. Brendon Prince (Extreme Athlete)On today's Podcast, we have Brendon Prince, who became the first person to stand up paddleboard around mainland Britain. He began his circumnavigation in Torquay, Devon, on April 27 and arrived back on September 14. Over 141 days, he covered a staggering 4,203km on his SUP, and he hoped to complete it in 120 days. Unfortunately, winds plagued his journey from the start, and he lost a total of 22 days to the weather.In completing the expedition, he broke three World Records1. First person to SUP from Lands End to John O'Groats via the coast.2. Circumnavigation of Mainland Britain.3. Longest ever SUP journey approx 3800km.One of the reasons Prince began the challenge was to raise awareness for water safety, which you can donate to below. Previously, David had struggled with gambling after his business was unsuccessful and this caused him to make questionable choices.He succumbed to the slippery slope of crime but was quick to realise his mistakes, admitting that he let his hunger for adventure “slip away” during this period. He has run 17,000+km across the world's deserts, and unsupported expeditions in some of the coldest places on the planet.In 2006, former "pack a day smoker" turned ultra-runner Ray Zahab and two friends, Charlie Engle and Kevin Lin set out on an expedition to cross the Sahara Desert by foot. 111 days and 7,500 km after leaving the coast of Senegal, Africa they completed their journey by stepping into the Red Sea.
