A roundtable discussion about Party Games and Games you take to Parties.
Hey Partysans! In this episode Bruce is joined by Rocki, Mike, Bryan and Marty to talk about the new hot beverage the kids are all talking about....Flamin Hot Dew. A brand crossover that exists within the same wing of PepsiCo and could only have been made to make a quick buck, and not as a long term beverage. Get yours while supplies last. We also talk about the Big Potato party game Color Brain. WE talk about it as both a zoom game, and our opinion of what we think it might play like in more normal circumstances. Thanks for listening!
Episode #106 features Bruce, Rocki, Mike and Marty talking about the newest soda trend: tasting the outreaches of our physical knowledge, and Coca-Cola, AND taking a look at the app version of Wavelength, since we are still gaming seperately. Thanks for listening!
On episode #105 The Party Gamecast realized this whole plan failed again, and realized we need to make more content in different places. So on this episode..... What the Food?!? The cast pits several Japanese Kit Kats against each other in a battle to the death. Gartic Phone The cast decided to try the web based version of one our favorite games of all time in Gartic Phone, an online version of Telestrations. Thanks to everyone for your support, and thanks SO MUCH for listening.
On this episode of the Party Game Cast Bruce is joined by Rocki, Mike, Bryan and Marty, and we talk about various chips from India, we also talk about the Japan Cup Horse Race DVD....it's not really a party game, but it is a CONVENTION game. Thanks so much for listening!
On this episode of the Party Gamecast we talk about our experiences with virtual escape rooms, and how it does and does not do a good job at being an escape room, and help bring us together during the lockdown. This is our second to last episode of the lockdown. The next episode will be our last playing games away from each other. Oh, we also talk about food, and we weigh in on....THE LADY GAGA OREO!!!! Thanks for listening!
On this episode of the show Bruce is joined by Rocki, Mike, Marty and Bryan. We eat a bunch of snacks....including....bugs. It's a whole thing. We also play HINT a clue giving game from the same folks that made bezzerwizzer. A HUGE thanks to our sponsors, including Power to the Meeple, and listeners like you! Thanks!
On this episode of The Party Gamecast the cast check out chips from far and wide (but mostly from the U.S. pretending to be from much further away). We also play the cooperative party game Similo and talk about it both in its physical form AND its app version, and how they work for Zoom shindigs.
On this episode of the Party Gamecast (that was supposed to be released on Turkey Day, but came out on Black Saturday) the cast talks about some Thankgiving flavored things, AND takes a look at a new twist on the old trivia game, with Half Truth from Richard Garfield and Ken Jennings. We also discuss the loss of Alex Trebek, and his possible Jeopardy replacements.
On this episode of the Party Gamecast Bruce is joined by Rocki, Mike, Bryan and Marty to talk about the hottest game on the market today......Among Us! Before that, its time for What The Food! and another mini snack brackets, this time pitting 4 Kit Kats up against each other in a battle for the ages* *not actually one for the ages.
On this episode the cast gets together over zoom to talk about the new Lay's Flavor Icons Limited Edition chips, they pit the East Coast against......not the East Coast in a 4 chip matchup to determine the best chip. Then the cast talks about the flip and write game Metro X from Gamewright Games.
What do you want? "SNACKS" When do you want em'? "HOW ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO WHEN YOU MADE THIS?" Can't happen, but we have done the next best thing, brought it to you NOW! This is our "lost" Snack Brackets, and we have found it and displayed it for the world to see. Thanks for listening, new game and snack content come VERY soon, but for now....SO MANY SNACKS!!!
On this episode of the Party Gamecast Bruce does his best to host his way though some older Patreon content. We discuss the future of the show, and wonder what we should do during this period where we can't get together. What do you want these episodes to look like, while we wait to be able to do an episode in the same place again? We talk about Rap Snacks, the best chips we can find. Bruce talks about the streaming schedule for him and Rocki and talks about their new project "Board Game the Game Show" which you can find on twitter @BGtheGameShow The Cast talks about "Cute Animals on Fire" the Super Art Fight home game. Finally Bruce wraps everything up, and asks for future ideas. We are proudly sponsored by Power to the Meeple at powertothemeeple.com and the ownership group of Yarrington's Yark Yurt and Speakman's Spew Spa. If you need a place to upchuck, you find yourself in up-luck. Thanks for listening!
On this episode of the Party Gamecast we reuse some of our old content (our Patreon content from December) and repackage it with a brand new discussion about gaming in these current times. Our Patreon Content is about Chip Star Chips and Valley of the Vikings (the kinderspiel winner for 2019). We also discuss playing video games, Jackbox, distance game playing, Tabletop Simulator and board game apps. I expect the next few episodes will be like this, since we can't meet in the same place, and the current environment has changed how party games are being used. We hope to adapt, and learn, and share what we are learning. A huge thanks to Power to the Meeple at powertothemeeple.com they are still shipping games to folks looking for distractions, if you are looking for a Friendly Online Game Store, please consider them. We are now on twitch 3 days a week, you can find us at twitch.tv/thepartygamecast Thanks for listening!
We hear you, Partysans! At least, we hear you when you call us at PARTYGAM(E)! We finally get around to listening and responding to your phone calls in this episode. Please keep calling; we'll do better. We also ate some candy, went to the video store, and pitted our beasts against one another in the arena of "sport." WHAT THE FOOD We started with something you can still actually buy in a store: Skittles! Well, not normal Skittles of course, because why? No, these were faux-gurt covered Skittles. Yeah. That's a thing someone made. Also, someone else seems to have made cherry cordials with cola flavoring as well, and because we are not healthy individuals we ate them. BLOCKBUSTER Old people (like us) and fans of Captain Marvel might recognize this blast from the analog past as a VHS rental box. We just called it fun. THE PARTY GAMECLASH! It's so great in animal town, red panda crawlin' around! This time we played The Champion of the Wild live, and forced animals to compete in a grueling event that tested their skills to the utmost!
In this episode, we explored a fresh take (to us) on protein, learned what Bruce's drag name would be, and tried to get on the same... frequency. Then we brainstormed for words and learned that our brains are, by and large, places of remarkably calm weather. WHAT THE FOOD Oh goodness. You know we love you, right? We must love you, or we wouldn't have EATEN BUGS FOR YOU. We also ate some incredibly yummy gummies. WAVELENGTH We disagree about the grabbiness of this numerically valued clue-giving game. It got very handsy with some of us, and others were not quite as thoroughly groped. We all agree that it did have some really cool stuff in the box though. TROPHIES We win! We all got trophies! We can't word very well though. We don't get a trophy for that.
On this Mid-Month Cavalcade Bruce takes us though the Patreon Content from November. This include a great collection of tasty snacks and a full analysis of Jackbox Party Pack 6. A new episode with better show notes will be out in a few days!
We'd like to start out by apologizing for the lateness of this episode. We're still here, still making content, and intend to keep it up. In this slightly-less-board-gamey-than-usual episode we ate some crunchy snacks spelled with an unnecessary "Z" and hit up Steam to play a couple of party games that are similar to but not actually part of the Jackbox series of games. Also, we fell in love with the colonel. WHAT THE FOOD We ate some puffed crunch products that may or may not have contained a tornado. Or a nacho. But definitely not a tornacho, which is good because those things can drive a tortilla chip right through a telephone pole. AWKWARD This game was well-named; we have to give it that. It was a Jackbox-style game without nearly as much style. USE YOUR WORDS This is another Jackbox-style game, but this one had so much style that it should've come with its own runway. Who knew that there were better subtitles to be had than "DO NOT WANT"? Smiling Buddha Games did, that's who. SURPRISE NON-LIVE-PLAY GAME Oh my, are you ever in for a treat. I know we were. We hope you're hungry, because this review is finger-lickin' good. Seriously though, you might want to pause the podcast once you hear the name of this game, download the game, and spend far too long playing it before you continue listening to our spoilers. Trust us: play this game. It's worth every minute. P.S. - Happy birthday to London Calling, which turned forty on December 14th.
In this episode Bruce hosts the "end month cavalcade" where we present the the Patreon content from October. Which includes more snacks from the Mex-US, a super special item, and a breakdown of Skull. We are surprised we never covered Skull before, and we are glad to finally get something out about it. Thanks for listening!
Happy Thanksgiving, America! Happy late November, everyone else! In this year's Thanksgiving episode, we eat together around a microphone-laden table and talk about a British board game. Ah, traditions. WHAT THE FOOD We ate strange food from the Mexas. It amused our bouches, stuck our fingers together, disappointed us with our own lack of foresight (in letting the chicharrones go stale), ate candy that smelled like it had already been eaten, then ate half a wheel of sweet potato. CLUE Clue: you know it (we hope), you love it (maybe), they made a movie (and a mini-series!!!) about it. The movie is amazing. Go watch it. After you listen to this. Maybe before. Or instead of this. It's much funnier than we are.
Welcome to the mid-month cavalcade where we bring you the Patreon content from September 2019. We talk about so MANY different chips, and we also get into the "game you might take to a party....with gaming friends" Point Salad. Thanks so much to all our Patrons for making this possible!
In this month's installment of The Party Gamecast featuring the Party Game Cast: a Podcast About Party Games and Games You Take to Parties we examine overly long show titles. Or we should, but actually we ate some chips (surprise!), played a game your cousin the actuary would love, then played a game about titles that are not overly long. WHAT THE FOOD So Rocki ordered a hand-truck-full (yes, that's a unit of measure now) of Japanese food online. We ate some of it. To wit: three small cans of small Pringles, two of which tasted exactly like a 30th anniversary. CHARTY PARTY We also played this game, which is (and I promise this is accurate) a delightful mix of Cards Against Humanity and statistical analysis. Doesn't that sound good? Whaddya mean, "no?" You sure do have a smart alecky way about you. We're going to have to keep our eyes on you, troublemaker. THE PARTY GAMECLASH! Yeah! We're going to live play a Reiner Knizia game! That's right, we're following up a party game about statistics with one written by Dr. Knizia, mathematician-at-large: Clickbait. Have you seen the ads? Do you think it's nice? Better work hard, we've seen the price. EXTRA LIFE About Extra Life (coming up November 2nd 2019): In case you're reading this before the event, we will be doing our annual 24 hour gaming marathon for the Children's Miracle Network charity at 3 Gear Games in the Historic Savage Mill in Savage Mill, Maryland (www.3geargames.com). Please feel free to stop by and hang out with us there, especially in the wee hours of the morning when we desperately need motivation (and caffeine). If you would like to make a (tax deductible) donation to a great charity, you can find us by searching for Partygamecast at www.extra-life.org or just use this link to our team: https://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=47896 . You can donate year-round, but if you want to pad our already abundant egos you can still use the link above to donate in our name right up through the end of 2019.
On this mid-month episode, Bruce ushers you through the patreon bonus content from August. This is all made thanks to the generous support of our patrons at patreon.com. If you want help the show out, and get these episode more than a month early, you can at patreon.com/partygamecast Our What the Food for the Month is a GIANT BOX of Turkish Delight, does it stand up to the high bar of the "Big Turk"? We may never know (unless you listen, then you will certainly know). For the Patreon Party, we cover Pictionary Air (stop, don't leave yet), this is a Pictionarty game where you use a light pen to draw in the air, it's really pretty cool, and if you listen, you can get the full scoop. If you are interested in our Extra Life team (supporting or joining), you can find it here: https://www.extra-life.org/team/47896 Extra Life! Thanks so much for listening!
Wait, is that title right? Whatever, we'll fix it in post. In this episode we ate some candy Bruce took from a stranger, drank each other under the table, and had an idea or four. WHAT THE FOOD Bruce got some Canadian toffee that was very tasty but not very radio-friendly. We were also disappointed by a huge multilingual Kit Kat. THE RED DRAGON INN (1 & 2) We review this game that appears on Boardgamegeek's Top 100 Party Game list to judge for ourselves whether we think it belongs there. Also, chain mail underwear. THE PARTY GAMECLASH! In this GameClash we came in here for that special offer: a guaranteed personality. We played the pitch game "The Big Idea," by James Ernest (of Cheapass Games fame). A simian power tool? Disease? Heaven itself? Or maybe you'd just like a fresh coat of paint. We certainly hope Mike survived this episode. EXTRA LIFE About Extra Life (coming up November 2nd 2019): We will be doing our annual 24 hour gaming marathon for the Children's Miracle Network charity at 3 Gear Games in the Historic Savage Mill in Savage Mill, Maryland (www.3geargames.com). Please feel free to stop by and hang out with us there, especially in the wee hours of the morning when we desperately need motivation (and caffeine). We would also welcome anyone who wants to join the team online and raise money with us!
On this 1/2 Episode Bruce hosts the Patreon content from July which includes a What the Food the probes the depth of Uranus and a Patreon party where the cast looks at We're Doomed from Breaking Games. New content will be out in just a couple of weeks, so stay tuned (or whatever it is you do with a podcast). If you are interested in our Extra Life Team, you can find it here: https://www.extra-life.org/team/47896 Thanks for listening, and supporting this show!
In this episode we sampled the latest Lays potato chip flavors, reviewed a (non-party) game about some fairly obscure Spider Man villains, and tried to guess what our friends were thinking. We mostly failed to do the latter. We succeeded at eating chips though, so there's that. WHAT THE FOOD We tried three new Lays potato chip flavors: bacon wrapped jalapeño popper, fried pickles with ranch, and deep dish pizza. Mmm, fried flavor engineering. SINISTER SIX You would think that a game from the company that brought you Hatchimals and Hedbanz would be light and simple, but Sinister Six made our list of games we've reviewed that are definitely not party games. It's backstabbity goodness and cooperation with the occasional Spider Gwen cameo. THE PARTY GAMECLASH! The voices in our heads are calling; we wasted some time with very little coming. In this episode's Gameclash we played Medium, a game in which we tried to get each other to guess the word we were thinking. It went about as well as you would expect from a podcast about crosstalk and laughter.
On this episode of The Party Gamecast featuring the Party Game Cast Bruce is in the studio presenting the last couple months of the Patreon Party. From this point forward, we will be releasing the What the Food, and Patreon Party episodes from about a month and a half prior. This time we are presenting a whole back catalog. First you get the May Patreon Party, where we talk about bacon jam, and bacon jam accessories. THEN The June Patreon Party in which we talk about the game Blank from Hub Games. (we call it the July episode, don't believe us) FINALLY Bruce does the most self-indulgent thing ever, and introduces a segment where we talks about the Spiel 2019 nominees for over 20 minutes. These were all things presented in previous months as "benefits" for Patreon Backers. These episodes are LITERALLY brought to the world by listeners like you. If you want to join the party, you can at patreon.com/partygamecast Thanks for listening and downloading!
In this episode, we ate some pickles sent to us by a listener (!) and some celebratory Oreos. I guess we played a couple of games too. Yeah, we murdered each other in Hellapagos, then murdered the news in Action News. WHAT THE FOOD We ate some very yummy pickles that other folks with less sophisticated palettes did not appreciate and celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of Michael Jackson's walking on the moon with some Oreos. They also turned out to not be filled with cheese, more's the pity. HELLAPAGOS Bruce shot Marty in the face. Then he did it again. Many people starved or perished of dehydration, and we learned the secret of carpentry with snakes: don't try it. We enjoyed playing this game. THE PARTY GAMECLASH! This is a public service announcement... without guitar! In this month's live gaming we played Action News, a Kickstarted game where we scrambled to put together and read out (semi-)real news stories from days past. Brother!
In this, our 86th episode, the Party Gamecast featuring the Party Game Cast examined the remaining two Spiel des Jahres nominees for party game of the year for 2019: LAMA and Werewords. We took a look at a possible predecessor of Werewords called Insider as well. We also ate some chips and chocolate and did a faithful reenactment of that one episode of Night Court where the defendant was dead and the actors were all members of a community theater improv group. I swear I remember that episode. It might have been the cough syrup. WHAT THE FOOD On What the Food, we ate some delightful tortilla chips and less-than-delightful Turkish delight, and also a protein bar made of peanut-flavored dessicant. INSIDER, WEREWORDS We reviewed these hidden-traitor word guessing games (?!), comparing them and lamenting the fact that there aren't enough waterfowl-based vehicles in the world. LAMA We talked about a game from an up-and-coming German designer named... Knish? Contessa? Something like that. This guy is going places. (By the way, according to its description by the Spiel des Jahres folks, LAMA stands for "the German acronym 'Lege alle Minuspunkte ab' (something like 'Leave All your Minus points Aside.')") (https://www.spiel-des-jahres.com/en/lama) THE PARTY GAMECLASH! This is party gameclash on pirate satellite. Actually it's on the Internet, but that's pretty close. In this episode, we played (?) Ghost Court, a game (?) where Rocki did not have to meow like a kitty cat but did get to explore her love of improv. I'd like to thank again those of you who have donated to us on Patreon (at https://www.patreon.com/Partygamecast) and shamelessly panhandle to those of you who haven't. Also don't forget that you can contact us by calling us at 30-PARTYGAM (and leave off that last 'E' for savings), Facebook, Twitter (@partygamecast), and E-mail (thepartygamecast@gmail.com). You could also try smoke signals, semaphore, and astral projection but we make no guarantees about those. Also, stay tuned after the episode for a "shawarma scene."
In episode #85 of The Party Gamecast featuring the Party Game Cast Bruce, Rocki, Marty, Mom (!), Bryan, and Mike find out what Floof and Boopability are all about when we review We Rate Dogs, a card game based on the famous Twitter account (@dog_rates). We also ate some Japanese Kit Kats and identified cat noises. Also, we finally got to your calls! Please keep calling us at 30-PARTYGAME (and you can leave off the last 'E' for savings)! WHAT THE FOOD On What the Food, we ate three varieties of Japanese Kit Kats and a bonus "snack" that tasted like slightly sweetened play dough. WE RATE DOGS We review this cute and fluffy game about cute and fluffy dogs in what we hoped would be a cute and fluffy manner. Unfortunately, it sounded like us. I'd rate us 10/10, would boop on nose. THE PARTY GAMECLASH! We definitely Rocki'd the casbah as we played Earworm, a new Kickstarted game about identifying songs without using lyrics. You should tune in right meow and listen. Lastly I would be remiss if I didn't mention our Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/Partygamecast . You should definitely consider supporting us, especially if you've read this far.
In episode #84 of The Party Gamecast featuring the Party Game Cast Bruce, Rocki, Bryan, Brian, Marty, and Mike take a look at the BoardGameGeek top three nominees for best party game: Decrypto, Just One, and The Mind. We also ate some potato chips, and answered the question of whether or not we (as a group) are dumber than a box of rocks. Are we? Listen to our live play to find out! WHAT THE FOOD On What the Food we ate three different potato chips, only one of which made Bruce scream. BOARDGAMEGEEK PARTY GAME OF THE YEAR We took a look at the cerebral Decrypto, the raucously fun Just One, and The Mind and decided which one we (as the preeminent party game experts of the entire universe) think should be the party game of the year. ARE YOU DUMBER THAN A BOX OF ROCKS? We're not asking, that's just the title of the game we played in our "live play" segment (title still a work in progress). Also we now have a Patreon! Please visit it at https://www.patreon.com/Partygamecast and give generously if you don't think we're the worst thing you've ever heard. Or even if you do.
Welcome (back) to episode #83 of The Party Gamecast featuring the Party Game Cast! On this episode, Bruce is joined by Rocki, Mike, Bryan, Marty, and Brian to review an older game called Ad Liners, eat some things that couldn't be easily translated into English, and introduce our new segment in which we "live" play a game for your listening pleasure. WHAT THE FOOD On What the Food we eat some fried sweet potatoes and dried seafood snacks. And that is certainly a description of some Asian things that we ate. AD LINERS The gang takes a look at a game from the 80s from Pressman games that may be the first "chooser-type" game (for all we know). PUNDERDOME In our first venture into "live" play, we explore what it would be like if you played board games with your uncle who can't stop making groan-worthy puns at the holiday table. You can treat yourself to their lovely and not-at-all-painful YouTube ad here: https://youtu.be/IpX83ajb344 As a note, we would like to thank all of our listeners who have stuck with us through the dry years. We've had folks talk to us at Cons and such and ask when we were releasing a new episode pretty regularly, and we've disappointed them for a long time. We missed you more than you've missed us.
Enjoy this portion of the Olfactory Academy Arts and Science presentation of "The Sniffies". To hear the WHOLE presentation, check out Flip Florey's Super Saturday Board Game Serial! Thanks for listening.
Welcome to Episode #82 of The Party Gamecast featuring the Party Game Cast, on this episode Bruce is joined by Rocki, Mike, Bryan and Josh to talk about the escape room games Unlock and EXIT. As a note, this was recorded just after Origins 2017, so yeah, its been a while. WHAT THE FOOD On What the Food the gang cover Celebration Oreos and Waffles and Syrup Oreos. Would they Take them to a party....who knows? UNLOCK and EXIT The gang does a compare-contrast of the two different card based escape room games, and talks a little about escape rooms in general. Thanks for listening! P.S. - We are testing allowing an ad on this episode from Libsyn, please let us know what you think of it, do not assume we will always do it, but we did want to test it out.

We did take 3rd, and in what was a huge field, that's not bad. What the Food In this What the Food!?! We take a taste of a couple of Meat Flavored potato chips in our Chiptastic Main Event.
