Happy middle, middle of December. You're listening to the Repco Lite Home Improvement Show sponsored by Benjamin Morin. Yeah, middle of December. Seriously, how in the world do we slow this down? We need to get together and figure that out. I'd like to pump the brakes here a little bit.Are you feeling that too? Or is it just me, you know, for me, there aren't enough hours in the day. I've got parties to plan errands to run gifts to buy so many gifts to buy and really honestly, I'm absolutely stinking at gifts this year. Stinking and it's stressing me out. Normally, normally by now I've completed all of my shopping and I've completed it brilliantly in most situations. You know, we're being honest here, no false humility, pretty brilliant when it comes to gifts. This year, this year I'm stinking. Unless I come up with some kind of inspiration, unless that strikes really, really soon, we're heading for one of those Christmases, right? I certainly wouldn't want to be my kids this year, at least not yet.Anyway, I hope you're all doing a ton better than I am. Hope you're more on top of things. Hope you're feeling really festive, really ready for what's coming and just feeling really accomplished. But just in case you're feeling a little bit of anxiety, like I am, I've got some help for you today. Uh, later, I'm going to be talking with Jeff Rietveld from Out of the Box Games in Holland and Zealand, and we're going to talk about some great games for Christmas gifts or gifts.Or family parties. So if the gift giving stress is getting to you, stick around for that. All right. That, that will help. We're also going to be diving into space heater safety, and I know that doesn't sound the most exciting, right? It doesn't sound terribly exciting, but trust me, those little heaters, They can be lifesavers in the winter, but only if you use them right.Otherwise, well, if you don't, they can, they can really cause some trouble. So we'll talk about that. And I've also got some strategies for painting in tight spaces. I am super pumped about this, this topic. I love it. It's a lot of fun. It's pretty funny. Uh, and that's coming up next. Uh, but right now let's get to the paint point for the week. And to do that, I want to circle back to the whole holiday stress thing. thing. Like I said, I've been feeling it. Maybe you've been feeling it, but here's the difference. You know, here's, here's me realizing, uh, this is me growing up a little bit. It's me realizing that I'm not the only one in the universe here.Um, the only...
It's about people, right? Below all the mechanics, after all the rules explanations, beyond every crushing loss and glorious win, what really matters is people we're playing with. Some games make that more apparent than others, and we're here to celebrate that. When we read that Eric Slauson (designer MonsDRAWsity, the upcoming Chucky game, and many more) likes to deal cards in a...very unique way, we knew we wanted to invite him on to discuss just how weird his board gaming habits are. Are we weirder? And how do YOU compare? Plus, gamers always talk about how some games aren't "worth" the price -- how do we value each game's worth? Why are games so fun? Telestrations, that's why!

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while.” - Steve Jobs Description: Board games are not just thinking puzzles that are designed to give satisfaction to the analytical left side of your brain but they also can provide a platform for your creativity right side to shine bright like a diamond. This week the hosts discuss their gateway game of the week Pictomania which leads to our discussion about what games can provide you with the creative outlet some of you crave including Cranium, Fake Artist Goes to New York, Telestrations and Rapid Dough. We also release the results from our Episode 008 Gateway Game Draft. We find out who the public voted on having the best Gateway Game collection in the group. We've all had busy weeks, but we did find time to record a very fun round of Who Knew That Review and chat about some video games. To recap, we each read reviews for two games, omitting proper nouns/important “giveaway” words or phrases like character names, locations, publishers, etc. If we near the end of the review(s) and don't feel like our co-hosts are getting it, we can let some of those things slip to help them out. If they can't get it by the end, we can give us hints like year released, publisher/developer, genre, etc. We had some interesting reviews this time around! We also chat a bit about the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, though we didn't see enough of it to get a deep dive. I think we can all agree that the most important thing is that Persona is finally coming to Switch, right? We also talk about some board games (Alien: Fate of the Nostromo and Telestrations), Joey gives his camp counselor rankings for The Quarry, Ron talks about his recent fitness adventures, there is too much talk about harmonicas, and more! Mark had to reign himself in considerably this week, what with the song temptations of the Talking Heads followed by his favourite torch song teased by Welcome to the Moon. He also tried to workshop a Gourds of Atlantis joke, but responses were--to put it mildly--not encouraging. It wasn't a total loss, as he managed to sneak in some Norse mythology in Telestrations. Lolies and Meehan are back in the pod booth as they join Matt to talk about what we've been playing, answer your questions about discovering our favourite board games and offer our suggestions for the cast of the Blades in the Dark TV show! Yes, Danny DeVito is involved. Lolies gives her thoughts on finishing Machi Koro Legacy, Meehan sees whether the new Telestrations game is anything to draw home about (see what we did there) and Matt… well, he's here too. There's also time to look at the latest booming numbers for tabletop games on Kickstarter and pine for the board games we'd love to play, but can't right now.

Welcome back listeners! It is time for a party, and you know what that means, time for party games! Join me and hear about the importance of party games and how these simple games can have a grand impact on a gaming event or evening. I will be discussing two of my favorite party games and ones that are bound to make you laugh and clutch your sides, the always ridiculous TELESTRATIONS and the one where I at times finally win some bets, WITS AND WAGERS. As always, thank you for your support and for listening to each episode. I love you all.
In this episode Jazz and Judge discuss the difference between what the non/casual gamers may expect out of game night versus what “gamers” may look for out of game night. They dive into some “modern” party games and board games that might be a great addition to your collection, but more so to introduce new gamers to the depth of the hobby. You'll hear about games like Skull King aka Spades 2.0, Exploding Kittens aka “the Uno Killer”, Codenames, Telestrations, Coup, and Wits N Wagers. They also discuss old family favorites like Uno, Taboo, Scattergories, and more. Come on in Enter, Share, and Discover with us and for out what LOH is all about.
