Our longships were ready to sail. The crew had just completed stowing all provisions and supplies for the long voyage ahead. We needed resources and building materials to develop our fjord and complete our port, altar and Jarl palace. But we were not alone. Vikings from other fjords had the same ambition to store up the most riches and be crowned Jarl of the Vikings! It was a race, but we were ready! We were ready to Looot by Charles Chevallier and Laurent Escoffier from Gigamic. It was the 5th century BCE and we, the Athenians, had been victorious over the Persians. The Delian League was now under our military control and the income generated by federation fees had made us prosperous. It was time for an ambitious building programme and the most talented architects in ancient Greece were ready. We were going to build housing, temples, markets, gardens and barracks. Our planning rules were going to create a harmonious community, enhanced by plazas. We would create new quarries to provide the stone to stretch our city towards the sky. We were going to build our high city, our Akropolis by Jules Messaud from Gigamic.

This week we stumble on the terrible, horrifying fact that there are other hobbies than boardgames, and we take pity on those poor lamented souls who are enslaved in their thrall. This week we stumble on the terrible, horrifying fact that there are other hobbies than boardgames, and we take pity on those poor lamented souls who are enslaved in their thrall. Just what is scrapbooking, anyway? Walker has a theory, but no one is really sure. On the released out of sequence Episode #78 Bruce is joined by Mike, Bryan and Rocki to talk about the Gigamic (however it's pronounced) games Gloobz and Karibou Camp.   Lets Get Topical TPGC was up for a Mobbie, the Baltimore Sun new media award.  We ask for votes, but the voting has closed.  If we have released this earlier, we might have won, hopefully next year.  We did take 3rd, and in what was a huge field, that's not bad. What the Food In this What the Food!?! We take a taste of a couple of Meat Flavored potato chips in our Chiptastic Main Event.  One of them is from 7-Eleven, so that's a thing. Also at the first break we have a listener What the Food!?! from Mark Drezja, and with this we open it up to you, if you want to create your own What the Food!?!, feel free to send those over, we would love to put them on the show. Gloobz and Karibou Camp were sent over from our friends at Gigamic, you can find these and many other great games at http://en.gigamic.com/ You can find What the Geek right here http://www.whatthegeekpodcast.com/   Thanks so much for listening!

We get introspective this week, or at least as much as the editorial gibbons allow. If we get too deep they get nervous, and as every podcaster will tell you, nervous gibbons are bad for the show. Walker, Mark alleges, is a masochist who sacrifices himself on the altar of speed, which may or may not mean game flow; Walker counters that Mark abuses the takesies-backsies. 01:50 AYURIS: Imperium: Classics and Imperium: Legends (Nigel Buckle & Dávid Turczi, Osprey Games, 2021)Games Played Last Week:06:13 -XenoShyft: Dreadmire (Michael Shinall, CMON, 2017)11:24 -Raccoon Tycoon (Glenn Drover, Forbidden Games, 2018)16:01 -Dwellings of Eldervale (Luke Laurie, Breaking Games, 2020)20:37 -Code of Nine (BakaFire, Z-Man Games, 2012)22:47 -Akropolis (Jules Messaud, Gigamic, 2022)25:47 -Ortus Regni (Jon Sudbury, Jon Sudbury Games, 2014)29:11 -Rallyman: DIRT (Jean-Christophe Bouvier, Holy Grail Games, 2023)38:21 -Resist!
