We're back at the Red Dragon Inn to end the year - but it's T.A. Black who has an issue to bring to the table: the Like A Dragon TV series.

A great time was had by the whole party at Fun-K Town Convention: Knoxville's grooviest board game con! King Scott and Just Patrick are joined by Teacher Ryan and Explorer Josh to recount tales of the weekend! Recent plays include Tales from the Red Dragon Inn, Klask, Carson City, Tidal Blades, Dune, and many many more! The 8-bit breakdown goes to video game turned board game, Slay the Spire. This rogue like video game incorporates randomness in all the right ways, to make each play exciting and different. Does the board game live up to the hype? Next week we'll do a double lookback as we wanted to keep this episode focused on Knoxville. A special thank you to Mike for inviting the podcast, and to AllPlay for providing several copies of Kabuto Sumo for demo! www.levelupgamepodcast.com Facebook Instagram X BGG Guild

In this episode, we talk Dragon's Dogma and the baffling amount of surprise people still get on micro-transactions. We talk Zelda movies, and patches and updates for games that matter and some that don't. Our main topic this episode is Canceled Video Games. Turns out studios make mistakes some times and many games that should get released never do. Thankfully though, some of these turkeys never saw the light of day! 2 upcoming projects shouted out on this episode: The Storied Sword - https://gauauu.itch.io/the-storied-sword The Red Dragon Inn - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/slugfestgames/adventure-is-nigh-the-card-game?ref=discovery Contact Us: Twitter: @HOTDogcast Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hairofthedogcast Instagram: hairofthedogcast To see how you can support us and access a bunch of cool, exclusive perks, visit our Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/hairofthedogcast We appreciate your support!

Zumindest so ungefähr. In this episode of the Nick Carter Detective Stories, we see Carter take on a new disguise in his quest to solve the crime at the Red Dragon Inn. He secures a typical tough look from a costumer and heads to Lem Samson's saloon, where he hopes to find some information about the case. Carter's plan involves waiting in the back room and observing everyone who enters the barroom. He's waiting for someone specific - Brockey Gann. Brockey is an old pal of Mugsey Donovan, a character that Carter is disguised as. When Brockey finally enters the saloon, he doesn't recognize Carter, thinking he's Mugsey. The two men engage in a conversation that reveals Brockey is involved in some kind of game. Carter tries to get more information, but Brockey is hesitant to talk in the barroom where they might be overheard. Eventually, Carter convinces Brockey to go to a quiet joint where they can talk in private. But before they leave, Brockey asks Carter where he was the previous night. Carter laughs, knowing he's getting closer to the truth. Listeners can't help but be drawn into the suspenseful atmosphere of the saloon as Carter and Brockey engage in a tense conversation. Will Carter finally get the information he needs to solve the case? Tune in to find out.Theme written by Bernard Kyer for this podcast. In this episode, Detective Carter receives a tip from Dora Ferris that points to Simeon Rich and Dick Darwin as suspects in a crime that took place on New Year's Eve. Dora offers to take Carter to her flat to inspect Darwin's clothing for clues, and they discover that Darwin has already left, taking all his belongings. However, Carter finds some papers on the floor that suggest Rich and Darwin may be implicated in the murder of Lawrence at the Red Dragon Inn. Specifically, a note written the day before New Year's indicates that Rich was at the Grand Central that afternoon, followed Lawrence downtown, and placed a party on his trail. Carter sees this note as an important piece of evidence, as it shows that Darwin and Rich had dined together at the Knickerbocker Cottage. He also believes that Darwin's hasty removal of his things from the flat could be an indication of guilt. Carter then asks Dora if she knows where Rich and his sister reside, which she does. He follows Darwin to a tenement on the east side of town and discovers that he had been looking for Lena Peters, a singer who had been wrongfully accused of a robbery and murder. Carter eventually tracks down Lena and clears her name. She reveals that her brother, Edward, had discovered the truth about the plot to falsely accuse Alfred Lawrence, and that he and his friend George Blanchard were both murdered under suspicious circumstances. Lena tells Carter that she had discovered a memorandum that Edward had written about Blanchard's confession and that it was her brother who left the signed documents in a package at the Red Dragon Inn. To keep Lena safe, Carter instructs her to stay at his mansion and conducts interviews with the waiter at the Knickerbocker Cottage, the messenger boy who delivered a message to two men matching the descriptions of Simeon Rich and Dick Darwin, and the bartender at McKeever's Saloon where Rich and Darwin met up with Brockey Gann, the man hired to murder Nick Carter! This episode is full of twists and turns as new clues are uncovered, and the investigation into Lawrence's murder takes on a new urgency.Theme written by Bernard Kyer for this podcast. In this episode, Nick Carter investigates the murder of an old man, who is later identified as Alfred Lawrence, a man who had been convicted of forgery and spent 10 years in State's Prison. However, Mr. Peter Wright, who identifies the body, believes Lawrence to be innocent, and Nick sets out to find the truth. With the help of Wright's information, Nick discovers that Lawrence's wife and child disappeared after his imprisonment, and that he left prison with only $10, not the wad of money that the barkeeper at the Red Dragon Inn claimed to have seen. Nick follows the trail to the old Lawrence home on Beach Street, the train depot where Lawrence arrived, and The Manhattan Safe Deposit Company, where Lawrence had been loaned $200. The manager of the company confirms that he knew Lawrence personally and believes he may have been framed. As Nick puzzles over the case, Wright tells him of a strange encounter he had with a young woman claiming to be Isabella Porter, who gave Wright a package with the name Edward Peters written on it. Wright initially denies receiving the package, but later reveals that he found it in his room at the Continental Hotel. The episode ends on a cliffhanger as Nick opens the mysterious package, leaving listeners to wonder what clues it may hold in solving the case.Theme written by Bernard Kyer for this podcast. The boys (and a special guest) sit down for the first in a new occasional series we're calling Bored Games. Our inaugural game is Red Dragon Inn from Slugfest Games. Please enjoy this goofy and rowdy game of post-adventure drinking and gambling.
Continuing on their journey, our heroes walked towards a small village. As they got closer, they couldn't help but feel like they were being followed. At first they thought it may have just been an animal, but then further decided that they were indeed being watched. One of the heroes thought back to the stream they had stopped at, and how he had mistaken the grotesque female goblin for a beautiful woman. Could it be goblins watching them? He didn't say anything, and they continued on. Eventually they arrived at the village and found a few rooms for the night. It was good to be off the road and inside again. They let their clothes dry near the fireplace, and enjoyed a nice meal. They would've enjoyed it more had the old woman running the place not kept flirting with them. She teased them all until their Jester friend decided he would return the teasing. The only difference being that his form of teasing involved skinning a rat and presenting it to her. The flirting quickly stopped, and they were ordered to stay in their rooms until they left. Apparently skinning dead animals found in the ditch out front wasn't something she took kindly to. The heroes returned to their rooms and talked through the walls to one another. They discussed the winner of the Red Dragon Inn giveaway, going on vacation, and their favorite Playstation games.
Continuing their journey, our heroes are on their own for a bit. They trudge along the path, their boots covered in mud. Cold weather had swept in, and brought with it a bitter rainfall. Eventually it became too much and they settled in under a rocky outcropping to get warm. They talked about DayZ and how the loot is a nightmare. They also talked about the new Dead Jester Productions website. One of our heroes also talked about finally hitting 200K gamerscore. The Red Dragon Inn is a tabletop game that we love to play, and so we thought we'd do a giveaway! Some info on the game: You and your adventuring companions have spent all day slogging through the Dungeon, killing monsters and taking their stuff. Now you're back in town, healed up, cleaned up, and ready to party at the Red Dragon Inn. Drink, gamble, and roughhouse with your friends. But don't forget to keep an eye on your Gold. If you run out, you'll have to spend the night in the stables. Oh. and try not to get too beaten up or too drunk. If you black out, your friends will continue the party without you. After they loot your body for Gold of course! The last conscious adventurer with Gold wins the game! Take on the role of one of four heroic fantasy adventurers Dierdre, Fiona, Gerki, or Zot and enjoy an evening at the Red Dragon Inn! The giveaway runs until the end of June. Go to our Twitter and retweet the tweets mentioning the giveaway to enter! You can also enter unlimited times by going to our Twitch and using channel points to select the giveaway option! Wait, is that title right? Whatever, we'll fix it in post. In this episode we ate some candy Bruce took from a stranger, drank each other under the table, and had an idea or four. WHAT THE FOOD Bruce got some Canadian toffee that was very tasty but not very radio-friendly. We were also disappointed by a huge multilingual Kit Kat. THE RED DRAGON INN (1 & 2) We review this game that appears on Boardgamegeek's Top 100 Party Game list to judge for ourselves whether we think it belongs there. Also, chain mail underwear. THE PARTY GAMECLASH! In this GameClash we came in here for that special offer: a guaranteed personality. We played the pitch game "The Big Idea," by James Ernest (of Cheapass Games fame). A simian power tool? Disease? Heaven itself? Or maybe you'd just like a fresh coat of paint. We certainly hope Mike survived this episode. EXTRA LIFE About Extra Life (coming up November 2nd 2019): We will be doing our annual 24 hour gaming marathon for the Children's Miracle Network charity at 3 Gear Games in the Historic Savage Mill in Savage Mill, Maryland (www.3geargames.com). Please feel free to stop by and hang out with us there, especially in the wee hours of the morning when we desperately need motivation (and caffeine). Ever want to wine and dine a potential client or get to know your new colleagues over board games? This week, we look at some games that offer the social interaction without potential gaffes or uncomfortable situations that work perfectly for low-key non-drinking ice-breakers. Before we dive in, we look at our question of the week - asking the listeners "What's the most ostentatious thing you've seen printed for or with a board game (besides CMON's jumbo Cthulhu)?" For our acquisition disorders, Anthony puts the spotlight on Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game hitting the states at Gen Con this week, and Chris looks at a blast from the past in Trogdor!! The Board Game. At the Table this week, we have a few games to talk about, starting with Most Wanted from North Star Games and Senshi from Arcane Wonders, both reviewed by Anthony. Then Chris delves into Red Dragon Inn 7 from Slugfest Games and Mystery of the Templates from Emperor S4 and Deepwater Games. Finally, we look at six games you should consider when trying to win friends and influence people. Can you believe it's already been two weeks? It feels like just yesterday I was staying up past my bed time to post an episode for you lovely listeners, but here I am, red eyes and all. In this episode, Craig is joined, as usual, by the family to chat about their plays including Red Dragon Inn, and a bunch of other games they've all talked about a thousand times. In the third segment, Derek and Matt stop by to talk about oversaturation in the hobby and each of their responses to the release of 3300+ games last year. This one is a bit silly as today we are talking drinking games, and "needed" to play a few before we started to record. We'll be back to sobering topics next week when we talk about Kickstarter. Off Topic (runs long) Chris and Kitty welcome Fletcher as a guest host since Josh was out of town at SXSW this week (he forgot to mention it last week). We then provide some updated information about Patreon. We find out Chris's weight hasn't changed but he likes to read review names from iTunes (even got a correction on one from last week). And then we announce our Gloomhaven giveaway winner before going into some quick questions and our game of today, Red Dragon Inn. Games we talked about: Red Dragon Inn (affiliate link*) Dice City Board Game (affiliate link*) Forge War (affiliate link*) Kickstarter: Rising Sun Kickstarter: The PIP system RPG *affiliate links give a small percentage back to us, thank you! On Topic We talk drinking games from Flippy Cup and Beer Pong to Irish Poker and Kings. We made sure we were uniquely qualified to talk on the subject by having played many of these before we recorded. You'll even learn a little bit about our collage lives - which turn out to be much more interesting for Kitty than for Chris and Fletcher.

We have a look at a game that is up for a dice tower award for "Game of the Year by a Small Publisher" First we look at a few games we've played recently : Quadropolis (00:30) City of Iron (08:00) Merchants and Merauders (17:30) Red Dragon Inn (25:10) Then we have a look back at Thunderstone Advance (29:00) - does it still hold up being one of the first deck builders? Finally we look at Champions of Midgard - theme and components. Are we tired of vikings? Does this add anything to a worker placement genre? Are there any interesting mechanisms? Is there anything we would change? Don't forget to check out dicetower.com and click on the Awards link to view all the great games up for an award! Psst! Down here! Climb into this cramped cave of chat with us. There's room for one more person. In what could well be our most feature-filled podcast ever, Matt, Paul and Quinns discuss Torchbearer, Merchant of Venus, Dragon Farkle and Drinking at the Red Dragon Inn, before getting down to (yet another) peculiarly erotic folk game. But wait! There's more! Quinns snagged video game designer Soren Johnson of Offworld Trading Company to discuss civilisation-building and trading board games. Enjoy, everybody.

We decided to have a look at a much loved game, Smallworld! First we talk about some of the games we've played recently, including Codenames (and does it work in a large group of non-gamers?) and Red Dragon Inn. We then do a look back at Formula D - does it still hold up a year later? We then get into the meat of the episode, Smallworld. We discuss the theme and components (as usual) - it's Days of Wonder, so you know there will be no issues with the components! We then talk about the main mechanism of the game - and is it really just the novelty of the race/power combinations that make this game interesting? Is the game long enough? For those of us that like meaty, strategic games, is this one still enjoyable? You might not be surprised by now, but we have a split at the table in our final opinions! Make sure to check out other boardgaming podcasts at http://www.dicetowernetwork.com You can also find out about us at http://www.fourcornersoftheboard.com
As we draw the year to a close and go into a holiday hibernation, we think on the things that truly make us happy...namely, Star Wars, K-pop videos, and drinking. Listen in as we talk reactions to the new Star Wars movie (sans spoilers), talk Psy's new video, and Kage goes over a game about D&D characters who try to out drink eachother...then adds on a drinking game on top of it. Good times.

For the first time ever, we allow other living beings to sit behind the mics with us and talk about... whatever it is that we talk about. First, a real live Harpy tells us about her disgusting cloaca, and then something called a Gobbo talks about Exploding Kittens. It's a real weird episode. SPOILER ALERT: We discuss the recent series of Jonathan Creek with forewarning of spoilers. This episode we display an inability to move on any new section and going off topic more often then normal, only one of us has been playing a game recently, Nick been recording and pissing off people in Deus Ex: The Fall. We talk about Valve’s new film Free To Play and our dislike for DOTA 2 and how we need peace between all gamers. We look into drinking on the podcast and going to the Red Dragon Inn. We carry on working on getting threaten by North Korea and ending up on a Government blacklist and plan out a dictators DnD game followed by a podcast. We also discuss the massive price for GalCiv 3 Alpha and being charged for a Demo of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero. Notes: Experience the combination of poor voice acting and great game play with Deus Ex: The Fall See how Dota 2 ruined the lives of 3 gamers with Free To Play Experience quirky British humor and mystery with Jonathan Creek Have a childhood that Nick missed out on with Adventure Time Get yourself drunk (either in reality or in game) at the Red Dragon Inn Pay through the nose for GalCiv 3 or a Demo of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero Solve your own murder in Shadow of Memories And relive the joy of Thundertits with Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth Finally, see some scammers as you’ve never seen them before Anything you think we should talk about?
