Tinli Yarrington is my online business manager. She also runs a very successful business with employees, and she's only 25 years old. I wanted to talk with Tinli today because I'm fascinated with the fact that she cracked the code and became a successful entrepreneur at 25. She's an inspiration for how she is doing things that others only dream about at such a young age.  She shares her story and how her engineering job didn't feel right. She eventually discovered being an online VA but was able to move to an online business manager who offers high levels of support so that entrepreneurs can focus on their zones of genius. We also learn about her plans, dreams, and goal to travel. There are also a lot of insights about the importance of asking for and receiving help.  Episode Highlights:  [02:32] She is an online business manager who does marketing, operations, and backend tasks for successful female entrepreneurs. This includes social media, email, and product launches.  [03:04] Tinli went to college and majored in engineering. When everyone else was looking for a job, Tinli knew something didn't feel right. She still ended up working at a large engineering firm in New York City.  [04:54] She started exploring online options and taught English before she discovered the world of online virtual assistants.  [06:07] She took a course and launched her VA business in January of 2020. She then transitioned to being a business owner and manager.  [08:23] She knew it was time to make a change when she wasn't looking forward to her job and didn't feel appreciated. [15:42] When you really step into your zone of genius, you discover that you can pass on stuff to other people. [16:46] Ask for help and get support. It might take awhile to get used to it, but there is growth for everyone.  [17:44] Tinli shares how she went from VA to online business manager with employees under her to manage.  [18:41] Working ten hours a day and weekends is not the definition of success. Have someone to walk alongside you and support you in your business. [20:30] It's important to reframe asking for support and help. This frees you up to do what you want to do. [21:46] Shifting roles has been amazing for Tinli from day one! [22:31] She now has time for planning and vision building. [24:48] Strategy and analytics are her favorite things. She enjoys celebrating things that go well.  [26:44] Tinli makes her clients feel like she doesn't have other clients.  [27:45] Her big goal is to travel for a while. She wants to get a lot of work transferred to her team, so that she can travel.  Links and Resources: Dr. Krystal Conner Dr. Krystal Conner Instagram Dangerous Woman Manifesto Optional Excellence Tinli Yarrington Tinli Yarrington Instagram Tinli Yarrington LinkedIn Tinli Virtual Services Facebook Tinli Yarrington Pinterest

What do you want these episodes to look like, while we wait to be able to do an episode in the same place again? We talk about Rap Snacks, the best chips we can find. Bruce talks about the streaming schedule for him and Rocki and talks about their new project "Board Game the Game Show" which you can find on twitter @BGtheGameShow  The Cast talks about "Cute Animals on Fire" the Super Art Fight home game. Finally Bruce wraps everything up, and asks for future ideas. Dakota Yarrington, a.k.a. Dakota Crave(because he absolutely Craves Life) has always had a bigger vision than himself, and makes others goals— his goals! When he’s not hiking, biking or filling his relationship full of love, he’s helping other people transform their lives in Health | Fitness | Mindset. He grew up in an average household where he was told to go to school, get a degree in college and work hard. He didn’t know what that(going to college) looked liked because no one had ever completed college in his family or had a good relationship with money. Eventually, he did—what he was told. He worked hard, and graduated from college— but he was unemployable. His American Dream model didn’t fit his personality so growing up he was always the odd one. And, Dakota’s vision is to transform the world impacting one person’s life at a time. You can find Dakota on Facebook: Dakota Yarrington IG: @Dakotacrave @cravelifeadventurecouple Please enjoy! I won’t lie. It’s worth listening to this entire podcast just because five and a half minutes into it Dr. Yarrington does an impression of an orchestra warming up, and it gave me life. Besides that, there is valuable information here about vocal warm ups, accountability, choosing appropriate literature, student conductors, and why adults are more frustrating than children. Listen: Highlight to Tweet: “I want my kids to sing well, and be happy they sang well. Other than that, what is there?” - John Yarrington Show Notes: You don’t have time not to warm up each week Warm ups should be timed (5 minutes is plenty), more about listening than producing, and intentionally productive. Program for your students, not for yourself or other directors. Put your singers first. That means hard work, hard rules, and no participation trophies. Bio: After 18 years as the head of the Choral Department at Houston Baptist University, Dr. John Yarrington has retired.  During these years, a significant change in the choral culture was accomplished with outstanding concerts of varying repertoire, major works with orchestra, outstanding guests including Alice Parker, Morton Lauridsen, Dan Forrest, James Jordan, and Anton Armstrong.  Five trips to the Classic Music Festival in Eisenstadt, Austria were accomplished and the HBU Schola Cantorum was the featured choir singing a concert in the Bergkirche, Haydn's church. Dr. Yarrington is a published composer and author - his latest book is Have We Had This Conversation, published by Sacred Music Press.  He has completed a new book entitled "In Pursuit of Musical Excellence, yet to be published. Dr. Yarrington was, for 34 years, a full time church musician and continues today as the Chancel Choir Director of the First Presbyterian Church of Houston.  At Pulaski Heights UMC in Little Rock, Arkansas, he started the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Chorus and was, for a season, interim conductor of the orchestra.  He also was Artistic Director of the Arkansas Chamber Singers for several seasons - a professional choral group. Did you ever want to sit down with one of the great choral directors over coffee and just chat? It might go something like this. Ryan and Dr. John Yarrington cover a lot of ground in this interview, including avoiding yard work in retirement, politically correct Christmas carols, the importance of doing great works and basic literature, reasons why Texas is a choral powerhouse, Alice Parker, not speaking to Robert Shaw, how Ryan self-identifies as Texan, Bach motets, and choral overreach. Listen: Highlight to Tweet: “Adjunct is Latin for “work your butt off for no money” - John Yarrington Show Notes: Dr. Yarrington did not spend his career in academia, even though he has recently retired from Houston Baptist University. Instead, his background is mainly in large churches. Ya’ll. Just leave his Christmas carols alone. Don your gay apparel or just get out. Working with Alice Parker taught him the importance of text. Start with the text, and protect it faithfully.
