Animals touch us all. We feel pure admiration when watching them, and no one can stay indifferent. However, we could never have imagined that some of the nicest ones might actually harm us. For example, we all adore pandas. They look so innocent and helpless that they became a symbol of peace and kindness. However, you'd better not mess with a panda. The same applies to dolphins. They definitely have a high intellect, which, unfortunately, sometimes seems to be not so harmless. Can you imagine anything cuter than slow loris? It might look cuddly, but if it perceives you as a threat, it'll start snuggling into one of its elbow pits — and that's a cue for you to get away, fast. We also see elephants as kind and naive creatures. But elephants are easily made nervous, and contrary to the popular myth that they see humans as “cute,” like we do puppies, they actually don't: for them, we're mostly a threat. So here's a list of the cutest yet dangerous animals. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Van Badham and Ben Davison are LIVE in the Yurt at Adelaide Fringe talking about how the week's news shows us that, for some bosses, if they can get away with it they will and that we need strong, democratic movements to curb the excesses that create greed-price spirals, shorten people's lives for the sake of a kitchen bench and funnel our commonwealth to the 0.5% richest people in the country at the expense of working people's retirements. You can join you union at australianunions.org.au/wow to make sure your super is paid, your workplace is safe and your rights are always getting stronger. Van and Ben discuss the reforms to superannuation tax concessions which will raise $2BILLION from the 80,000 accounts with more than $3million, the Murdoch media's meltdown over this "communism" and why Ben and Van think this modest reform gets super closer to the original purpose that unions set it up to achieve; dignity in retirement for working people. Van and Ben congratulate the quick reaction to the union campaign to stop sillicosis and point out that 1 in 4 stonemasons may have already been exposed to "popcorn lung" by bosses who have gone so far as to to refer to the victims of silica dust as "dogs". The scourge of "greedflation" continues to ravage Australia, and much of the world, as prices surge on the back of profiteering and outdated economic ideologies that keep whacking working people. There's also good news about endangered animals! And Van again does the Cadre and Extend the Reach shout outs LIVE for those who are making contributions through www.buymeacoffee.com/weekonwednesday

I have a podcast somewhere here about meeting #SenatorKelly at the new opening of the Tucson office of mission for Arizona; and getting to talk his ear off for a good couple of minutes, as well as shake his hand, congratulate him on his coolness of appearing at a @u2 concert from the international space station! And he signed two of my yard signs. Similarly, I got to lobby him to indict Trump; and to expel the GOP insurrectionists who are terrorizing us all, in this country. It's so cool that people are so unanimous about Johnny Depp's innocence in this case! It is wonderful to see such kind hearted, supportive comments on these videos! I also cover the Johnny Depp trial, as well as now the January 6th committee hearings, and I hope you all can keep up this interest in legal affairs, by devoting a little time and energy to the January 6th hearings. Please call Congress 202-224-3121 and demand #insurrection charges against Trump and the GOP insurrectionists. And, sign @moveon petition to #indictTrump and expel the GOP under 14th Amendment: https://bit.ly/3ka1MmD

There are very few things that surprise me anymore in life. Rising crime? I called that at the beginning of the pandemic. Authoritarian attacks on democracy? Ha! I lived through the Bush junior years for crying out loud. Conspiracy theories becoming mainstream narratives? Yawn, I used to be a right winger for crying out loud. With all that I have been through it is difficult for me to even believe that I can be surprised anymore. I mean, I got thrown off a train after falling ill and left for dead in liberal San Francisco for crying out loud. It does not get much more surprising than that! Or does it? The biggest surprises are the ones that you would never see coming, the kind of surprises that shatter your reality and force you to reevaluate the life you are leading. Well, consider me surprised. It is not that I ever really liked cute animal pictures and videos. To be completely honest, I was rather indifferent about them. People love animals and so they are always shoving some phone in your face with a picture or video of a cat or dog or elephant or whatever. Apart from being mildly annoyed about this modern phenomenon (excuse me for not wanting to see some video about some goofy animal slobbering all over the place while I eat my dinner; I sincerely do not apologize), I never really gave it a second thought. And why would I? I mean, it is just an adorable animal, and there is nothing wrong with finding animals adorable…unless the people who are posting those videos have ulterior motives. On the internet cute animals are big business. You cannot go on social media without having a sleepy cat or a curious seal flopping across your screen. These pictures and videos effortlessly receive thousands and even millions of likes and comments, which makes them some of the most popular content on the internet. Content creation means big money and so we must follow that money to find who is profiting from all of these videos. It turns out most of them, about 70%, are distributed by two companies: Junkin Media and Viral Hog. And wouldn't you know it, neither of these companies has any policy in place to prevent the spread of misinformation, more commonly known as conspiracy theories. But cute animals pictures and videos cannot spread conspiracy theories, right? Wrong. All a content creator needs to do to get you to keep consuming their content is to get you to like it once or twice. After that point, your social media feed will automatically recommend all of their content to you. You do not have to sign up for this process; it happens every time you like something. So, what kind of content are you exposing yourself to when you like those cutesy animal videos? It turns out that one of the largest producers of such content is a little paper known as The Epoch Times, a far right conspiracy rag owned by a follower of a religious cult, which just happens to be Trump supporter's favorite newspaper. Though The Epoch Times, like all news organizations today, promotes itself as unbiased, the pro-Trump rag has relentlessly spread false information about voter fraud in the 2020 election, pushed the unproven idea that China invented Covid-19 in a lab as a plot to destroy democracy, and unabashedly publicized the January sixth pro Trump rally that turned into an attempted coup. Unbiased you say? Sure, if you consider far right extremism to be without bias. Another promoter to cute animal videos is none other than the world renowned quack himself, Dr. Joseph Mercola. Mercola, a snake oil salesman who has advised patients to engage in unproven "natural" therapies as opposed to taking real medicine, has supported the false claim that twenty-two of the vitamins that he sells on his website can prevent, treat and even cure Covid-19, though no evidence for this exist. Mercola has made several false claims about the medicinal value of supplements he just happens to sell. I think I'll pass on your next animal video. I'd rather live past thirty. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/morecontentplease/support

Many of us have fond memories of playing with cute animals like playing fetch with an enthusiastic puppy or petting the silky chin of a kitten. We tend to assume that the adorable animals of our planet are friendly, inviting beings, but don't let their cute attributes fool you. Not all of these cute animals are as they seem. Some are so dangerous they'll send you running. And some of these animals, in fact, are downright deadly. Let's take a look into the hidden secrets of these dangerously, cute animals. We continue our look into the seven deadly sins, and this week we wade the cute and adorable, tree loving sloths! Wait, no, it's couch loving people, the close relative of the sloth. Yes, this week we discuss one of the lesser sins, the gateway sin I like to call it, sloth. Now, you might just think it's about being lazy, putting things off, not participating, etc... and you'd be right for the most part. Of course, there's more to it than that. It's seen by Catholics as not contributing to the betterment of mankind, thus hurting God's vision for the world, and we can't have that, can we? Sloth is one of the sins that doesn't have a lot of information available on it. It's mentioned a few times from various philosophers and religious scholars, but ultimately, like I said, it's a lesser on. BUT, it can lead to other sins such as gluttony, envy, and maybe even lust. It's also one I think most of us can relate to the most. We've all had times or days that were wasted, just sitting around doing bugger all. Thankfully, most of us don't live our entire lives in that state. Besides all that, it has one of the most gruesome deaths in Seven, so there's that. For more information, you'll just have to listen all the way through. We can choose when we want to be happy. We don't have to leave it up to someone else to decide. We are the only ones in charge of making this decision. But if you are having trouble making that decision, I have some ideas for you on how to get happy really quickly!Show Notes:Life can be really hard, right? It can be tough, but despite what you're going through, it's important to recognize that there are so many things to be grateful for & blessings that abound in our lives. But something else to remember is that our happiness is in our control. We get to decide if we are happy or not. It's just that plain & simple.A lot of times we will blame our lack of happiness on someone else because it's easier & we don't understand that we need to own our emotions. I mean, we can decide to not own of emotions, but it doesn't make them any less ours or our responsibility. But I think it's so great that we are in charge of how we feel because it means we are in control. We get to decide how we feel & how we go about our life. We don't have to deal with getting that directive from anyone else or even believe someone when they try to convince us we need them to be happy or content or fulfilled. That's just a bunch of lies.So today I wanted to share with you some quick ways you can achieve happiness all on your own, if you're feeling down & need ideas on a pick-me-up:1. Give Someone Else A Compliment. Showing kindness to others can really help us show kindness to ourselves & product happiness.2. Call A Friend & Chat. You know, talk on the telephone. Haha!3. Listen to an Encouraging or Funny Podcast.4. Find Some Really Good Music to Listen to. Even if it's 90's Pop or the soundtrack to Hamilton!5. Clean Up A Space Around You. They say the spaces around you are a representation of your mind.6. Pet an Animal or Look at Pictures of Cute Animals. This tip will never let you down.7. Put Together a Puzzle/Build With Legos/Color in a Coloring Book.8. Live More In the Moment. Stop worrying so much about what happened in the past & what's going to happen in the future. It's not worth the greif.Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi or on Clubhouse @sabrinajperozzo to chat!Visit www.sabrinajoy.com for more content & blog posts!Have any questions, comments or feedback?
