Kia's Carnival might be better known as Sedona in the United States. However, as the brand launched its minivan's fourth generation back in 2020, Kia pivoted the van to its Korean Domestic name: Carnival. For '25, Kia gave its Carnival a once-over – updated styling and a new powertrain. Kia moved the license plate mount a little lower and added a dark edition to the lineup. More importantly, Kia also added a hybrid powertrain to the Carnival. This hybrid system blends a 1.6-liter turbocharged I4 with a 54 kW electric motor and a six-speed automatic transmission. Kia says that this hybrid Carnival is good for 242 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque and 33 mpg combined. The 3.5-liter V6 is still available for those who want extra displacement, which makes 287 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek executive editor Tom Murphy hops behind the wheel of the '25 Kia Carnival and puts it through its paces. Murphy takes you on a guided tour of the '25 Carnival and highlights some of his favorite features. Later, Murphy takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Murphy chats with host Wesley Wren about the Carnival, minivans in the marketplace, and more. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the Carnival special.

KIA Carnival SX Prestige - 2025 Review by John Rush
Brittany Phillips was an 18-year-old college student at Tulsa Community College when she was tragically murdered in her apartment on September 30, 2004. Her body was discovered after she failed to attend classes, showing signs of strangulation and sexual assault. Despite extensive investigations over the past two decades, including interviews with ex-boyfriends, strangers, and sex offenders, no suspects have been identified. In the years following Brittany's death, her mother, Maggie Zingman, has tirelessly pursued justice. She embarked on cross-country trips in her brightly colored KIA Carnival, dubbed the "Caravan to Catch a Killer," to raise awareness and generate new leads. These efforts have led to numerous tips, though none have conclusively solved the case. A significant development occurred in 2023 when Maggie discovered a birthday card mailed by Brittany in 2004, postmarked two days after her presumed death. This finding has prompted investigators to reconsider the timeline of events. Detectives are currently analyzing DNA found under Brittany's fingernails using genetic genealogy techniques, hoping to identify the perpetrator. Despite these challenges, Maggie remains committed to finding her daughter's killer, stating, "I want my daughter's case solved before I die."www.brittanyyphillipsmurder.netBrittany Phillips Tik tok: @Caravantocatchakiller www.unforbiddentruth.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.
When it comes to moving a large family around nothing else comes close to the 8-seat Kia Carnival - it dominates the people mover segment with around 80 percent of the sales – there’s now 11 variants including a petrol/electric hybrid although diesel represents around 90 per cent of the volume. I drove the 2.2-litre turbo diesel 8-speed automatic Carnival GT-Line at $73,060 updated mid last year and gaining a $5,400 price lift. This is a big people mover – 5.15 metres long and spacious with three rows of seats and if you have a large family, it’s the bees’ knees. You may shun a people mover over an SUV however the Kia Carnival will change your perceptions. With rear power sliding doors its just so safe and practical – the flexibility of the interior a high point with the ability to turn the second row into individual outboard seats, the centre seat can be removed, making a walkthrough to the third row. The prestige GT-line has no options apart from paint and is loaded with features. Yes, it lacks a full-size spare wheel, just a space saver, however the deep luggage compartment is the bonus. The Carnival GT-line simply the burger with the works. Drive details next. I’m David BerthonSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jon Summers is the Motoring Historian. He was a company car thrashing technology sales rep that turned into a fairly inept sports bike rider. On his show he gets together with various co-hosts to talk about new and old cars, driving, motorbikes, motor racing, motoring travel. Jon begins Part-2 of his "Best of the Bay" recap with the Lexus GS550, highlighting its luxurious touch points and ideal size. He compares it to the Genesis GV series, favoring the Lexus for its subtle quality. Next, he reviews the Kia Sorento, noting its attractive interior and impressive features, although it falls short of the Lexus in material feel. Jon then examines the Kia Carnival minivan, praising its spacious design and handling. The Hyundai Ioniq 5N impresses him with its unique styling and sporty performance, albeit with a few quirks like a high trunk floor. Finally, he reviews the Elantra N, appreciating its old-school hot hatch feel and responsive handling. Throughout, Jon shares his experiences and observations, providing insight into what sets each vehicle apart. ==================== Judas Priest - The Hellion Lexus GX550 - lovely materials justify the cost. Better quality than Genesis. Loved the giddyup. Judas Priest - Rock Hard, Ride Free Kia Sorento - nice looking interior, content awesome, surprisingly stable, responsive at high speed, irritating electric whirr Comparing screen treatments An aside on Acura ZDX - HUD display worked well Kia Carnival - No irritating whirr, tons of space, surprisingly planted in high speed sweeping turns, a modern state of the art minivan Judas Priest - The Sentinel Hyundai Ioniq 5 N - the triangle theme makes the Ioniq 5 an interesting piece of design. Perhaps short changed by driving only on slow roads. The gamification of performance; a 21st century turquoise shell suit of a car, “licence looser”, great value at sub $60k Hyundai Elantra N - Old school cool hot hatch. Buy this instead of the Ioniq, and save $20k. But a young person's car. Coped well with emergency braking at high speed. This week, Benjamin drives the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, a mainstream offering found on the same Ultium platform as many other high end EVs like the Acura ZDX and Cadillac Lyriq. Benjamin discusses his experience in the Chevy, and compares it to other popular mainstream options like the the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Nissan Ariya and VW ID.4. The pair also discuss whether GM is on track or not in this highly competitive segment. Then Sami checks out the 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid, which swaps out the V6 from the gas model for a hybrid powertrain boasting nearly 50 percent better fuel efficiency, without much of a compromise. But is this upgraded Carnival a big deal in the minivan market? How does it compare to the Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey? Sami discusses it all on this week's episode. Thanks for listening!!

Jill and Tom opened the show noting that elements of the media have been misusing the term “mild hybrid.” Listen in for details. The hosts ran down a questionable list of the “most-patriotic brands,” which included Ford and Jeep. What other carmakers made the list? Listen in. Still in the first segment, Jill and Tom reviewed the new, likable, Fiat 500e electric coupe. Fiat's new subcompact electric runabout boasts a fun design and frisky on-road experience, but won't be perfect for everyone. In the second segment, Sam Fiorani of AutoForecast Solutions joins the show to catch up on a number of hot topics, including: The future of Dodge, the Hyundai/General Motors tie-up, slumping Ram-pickup sales, and more. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “Front drive or AWD” quiz.

Finally, the Kia Carnival sees some updates for 2025 which include a new hybrid powertrain option.
Absence makes the driveway dump list longer, so Kelly is ready for the Carpool today. She kicks off the episode with another reminder to utilize your iPhone features and wraps with a baby name clue—hint, she won't be taking the Harry Potter theme route. Today's millennial word of the day is 'it was a movie' meaning it was so good it could have hit the big screen. Kelly and Lizz try to break down a 'brat girl summer' again and Lizz has taken her stance—if the explanation is 'the essence' she's out. In driveway dumps Kelly wonders if she needs a shower cap, is plotting a 'try not to waddle' pregnancy challenge, and has a hot take on Ballerina Farms and the life cycle of an influencer. In short, you can get an angle out of anybody. Both gals are loving the Olympics and following Ilona, a female rugby player who's giving the best behind the scenes peeks on social media. Lizz is watching men's rugby and Kelly is loving gymnastics and swimming. Both agree—water polo is some kind of superhuman feat. Over 74% of people have subscriptions they've forgotten about. Being a mom is a kick you while you're down kind of industry and if it throws you into your ugly era, getting out just isn't free. On this episode of the Carpool podcast Kelly and Lizz share their recent relatable mom experiences and a review of the third annual Car Mom Auto Show. The gals extend a huge thank you to everyone who made the drive and flew during the Microsoft outages. The third Auto Show was truly the best and Kelly and Lizz loved meeting their fans—from moms to young listeners. The VIP night vibes were on point, the extended hours were awesome, and Capital One's giant car seat was a hit. Kelly deems the Belle of the Ball and most talked about car the BMW X7 or Kia Carnival. For the next show, Kelly will be hiring staff — a need she underestimated this time— and more carefully curating the kid's movie characters that attend. Kelly escaped her ugly era with a new lipstick duo from Ulta while Lizz feels like she needed a full montage movie makeover to get out of her funk for a few days. Any car fits two kids and unless you have other unique needs you probably don't need to go car shopping yet. In industry news, the new Honda Odyssey is incredibly underwhelming and Kelly is ready to see a hybrid option. Both gals are on the edge of their seats for the '25 Expedition. Kelly's sassy pasta is today's ditch the drive-through. Grab a little olive oil, Boursin cheese, and cream if you have it and treat the cheese like the 'butter' on your noodles. Between Pat the wallpaper girl, Franny the custom closet designer, and Lizz the bathroom makeover queen Kelly's house is shaping up wonderfully. The gals chat home improvements and little known entrepreneurial opportunities to kick off this jam packed episode of the Carpool podcast! Purloin, today's Merriam Webster word of the day, means to steal something—but not in a serious way. Are Kelly and Lizz turning their families into garage-fridge-families? Yes, and shamelessly. In fact, having beverage options at home is a base model luxury that shouldn't be overlooked. Kelly asks Lizz how she feels about Teen Vogue's 15 most popular conspiracy theories in recent history including if Taylor Swift is working with the NFL, if Avril Lavigne is actually an impersonator, and if Aliens built the pyramids. A handy, mess-free baby pouch holder, the Munchkin angle weighted straw trainer cup, and a hand towel hook for Kelly's bathroom were Lizz's last three transactions. Kelly has recently invested in a gallon-of-milk dispenser, got influenced into a fancy snackle box, and took a gamble on a couple of pair of maternity shorts from Old Navy. There is some very interesting news going around about the Biden Administration potentially reversing or slowing its push for Evie's here in the United States which could have implications the world over. But what does that mean for the automotive market and buyer? Well basically, right now would be the best time to get an EV because dealerships are flooded with stock that nobody wants. Did you know that the KIA Carnival is not really just a minivan? Did you know that it also used to have a totally different name? And did you know that it's actually pretty cool? Last but not least, the Mini Countryman isn't so "mini" anymore but does that mean it doesn't belong in the Mini family anymore? Personally, I think it is a fantastic option for those looking for a compact crossover, but it does stick out like a sore thumb amongst all of the other Mini Cooper vehicles. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sketchbookaudio/message

Are unpopular and sorta strange cars really actually good? That's the question this week's episode is pursuing as our hosts drive some weird and wonderful cars that have had a bad reputation in the past. First up Benjamin drives the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime, aka "the sexy Prius." With 44 miles of all electric range, the Prius Prime is no longer the geeky favourite of Leonardo DiCaprio, but a surprisingly good looking, functional car that isn't too bad to drive, or so Benjamin says. Listen the whole segment to get his final say, not to mention a fun tangent about other phevs that disappeared over the years. Then Sami brings up the 2024 Kia Carnival, which played dad van duties when his extended family dropped in. With tons of tech, space and cool powered second row seats, the Carnival should be a hit with families, but Sami says the Korean minivan has a fatal flaw which may make it fall out of favor with those looking for a three row superstar. On the other hand, Benjamin's recent moving experience with the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica PHEV suggests that you don't need a family to thoroughly test a van, especially one as efficient as this particular hybrid. Thanks for listening! See you all next week!

Kelly and Lizz throwback to their home-grown, DIY YouTube videos and recordings they gifted to their parents after today's millennial word of the day segment — featuring the most popular Gen Z slang terms by state — makes them feel so stinkin' old. Lizz is loving the hot goss on the advice segment today about another in-law family situation. A listener's brother-in-law has been dating a girl for about two years now and they recently announced they're expecting a baby. She has asked the listener if her kids will call her auntie. I got a new car! A Kia Carnival had been on my vision board for a couple of years and it was such a HUGE celebration to take that baby off!!! But it was more than just getting a new car...it was wayyyy deeper than that. It was a celebration of the steps I took to get there. The tiny steps daily. Small steps add up. One small step at a time. Keep getting up after you fall. Keep getting back up and just keep moving forward one step at a time. After a month, a year, 5 years, when you look back you won't believe how much things have changed! You don't even realize how powerful little habits an practices can be for your mindset and for your life. This episode is to encourage you to start small! If I can do it, you can too! What cars do their drivers like the most? We'll have the answers for you in our in-depth look at the J.D. Power 2022 APEAL Study. The J.D. Power U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study measures owners' emotional attachment and level of excitement with their new vehicle. This year the recently launched Kia EV6 compact SUV and Mercedes-Benz EQS large premium car were two battery-electric vehicles that topped their respective segments. But the vast majority of segment leaders in emotional appeal are conventional gasoline-powered cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs. The Jeep Wagoneer UV, Jeep Grand Wagoneer premium SUV, Kia Carnival minivan, and Hyundai Santa Cruz midsize pickup were newcomers to the market that top their segments. Consumer excitement with their vehicles actually fell this year, breaking a streak of increases that dates back to 2014. It is only the fifth time in the 27-year history of the study that consumer excitement with their vehicles declined year over year. And we'll have more, including information on how Tesla owners feel about their cars. In this week's road test segment, host Jack Nerad will give his take on the new, cutting-edge 2023 Genesis GV60. It's the first dedicated electric vehicle from the Genesis brand. The GV60's new-as-tomorrow features include facial and fingerprint recognition. Plus the vehicle actually has a crystal ball. Also in the road test segment, Co-Host Chris Teague went truckin' crazy in the substantially new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X. The full-size pickup truck is designed to slug it out off-road, and Teague and Nerad will offer their opinions of it in this episode. Our special guests this week are Brian Kursar, group vice president, Digital Technology at Toyota Motor North America, and Simon Roberts, Managing Engineer - Cabin Awareness at Toyota Connected North America. Toyota has been improving its infotainment systems by leaps and bounds recently, and we'll discuss how they've been able to accomplish that with them. In the news, Chevrolet just introduced an all-new Blazer EV that promises to be blazing fast. We were there for the unveiling and will tell you all about it. And Honda has unleashed the newest Civic Type R, so we'll tell you all about that too. All this and more in this episode of America on the Road.
This week's edition of Cruise Control returns with interesting car launches, plus a preview & review of crowd favourites all rolled into one.Mercedes look set to take the local car market by storm with the launch of the all-electric EQ series, Daniel and Ali gather their thoughts on the recent additions to the German giants' impressive fleet; launching the luxurious EQS 450+ Sedan, the impressive EQC 400 as well as the spacious seven-seater EQB 350 all on the same day. Other notable launches include the new Ford's Ranger pickup, and the locally assembled Kia Carnival available for bookings soon. We also look ahead to the incoming upgrade on the all-new Toyota Vios, as more information about its interiors start to surface.
