On this week's Stansberry Investor Hour, Dan and Corey welcome Artem Milinchuk to the show. He's the founder and Head of Strategy for FarmTogether. First, Dan and Corey kick off the podcast by discussing the last CPI and PPI reports. While the CPI reading came in at 3.2% inflation, certain components within the CPI are much higher. Inflation is still here, and now it's just a matter of what direction it goes and what the Federal Reserve does next. (00:00) Next, Artem joins the conversation to share the benefits of farmland investments. Farmland boasts comparatively lower volatility than stocks, real estate, gold, and other asset classes. Artem highlights that the charm of farmland lies not only in its resilience during inflationary and recessionary periods but also in its capacity to diversify portfolios. (16:15) The discussion shifts to the impact of elevated prices and interest rates on farmland investments. Artem provides insights into the broader farmland market, revealing that a significant majority (98%) of farmland is currently family-owned. He anticipates substantial changes in ownership over the next two decades, with the U.S. Department of Agriculture projecting a transformation of up to two-thirds of farmland. (24:00) Artem shares his extensive experience investing in farmland on behalf of others since 1992, achieving impressive returns of approximately 10.5%. He concludes by drawing a noteworthy comparison between farmland investing and U.S. Treasuries, highlighting farmland's potential as a robust hedge against inflation. (44:57) ➡️ Watch Here

We also dive into different ways that innovation and technology are empowering more antifragile agriculture supply chains and capital ecosystems. A quick note to round this intro off… Food is foundational to freedom and flourishing; without an antifragile food supply, lots of people die. And innovation, industry, and individualism are foundational to antifragile food supplies. There is a huge multi-trillion dollar asset class that few investors have any exposure to but we literally rely on it to sustain life: farmland. The primary reason that it has attracted few investors is that there has been no easy way to access this asset class. That is now changing. Today we have a guest who is bringing farmland investing to the masses. After working for one of Canada's largest pension plans, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, and running Operations and as the CFO at a platform for buying and selling produce, Artem Milinchuk founded FarmTogether to bring an asset that has largely been the domain of institutional investors to individuals. Artem and I had a fascinating conversation. We discussed:  How farmland deserves a place in all investors' portfolios – in large part due to its features as a hedge against inflation and a passive income generating investment. How to underwrite a farmland asset. How he one day envisions the ability to invest into farmland embedded directly into one's brokerage account. He also made a great case for how we can eat our way into supporting farmland investments, like hazelnut farms, which happen to be some of the types of farms that Artem likes to invest into. FarmTogether is a technology-enabled farmland investment platform that provides investors with direct access to US farmland as an asset class. They have developed an end-to-end investment platform that allows investors to review carefully vetted farmland investments and invest in properties.Artem has over 10 years of finance experience in food, agriculture, and farmland. Prior to founding FarmTogether, Artem was the first employee and CFO / VP of Operations at Full Harvest Technologies, a post-Series A b2b platform for buying and selling produce. In addition to working at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, he also worked at Sprott Resource Holdings, E&Y, and PwC. Thanks Artem for coming on the Alt Goes Mainstream podcast. I hope you enjoy the conversation with Artem.

In today's episode, we will speak to Artem Milinchuk the founder and CEO of FarmTogether. Farm Together is a crowdfunding platform for farmland investing. Farmland investing entails investing in land housing a variety of crops, such as cornfields, that produce corn and wheat for our everyday food consumption. Farmland investing is a solid (and recession-proof) foundation that has a place in your investment portfolio, it is the type of alternative investment that makes the most sense to me. He will give us a brief introduction to farmland investing, what the expected returns can be, what to pay attention to, and most importantly why he decided to start FarmTogether and why farmland investing can make sense to add to your investment portfolio. This episode is for you if you are looking at diversifying your well-established investment portfolio and/or if you are eager to learn more about a "new" alternative asset class. Located on opposite coasts, they are able to connect with hotspots on each coast to advance FarmTogether’s network.  The COO is also required to be a Jack-of-all-trades and David’s tasks include a little bit of everything, such as:  Investment underwriting with members of the investment team Sales and Marketing Distribution initiatives Human Resources Accounting Strategic Initiatives Syndicated crowd-funding management “Given these unprecedented and trying times [during the novel-coronavirus pandemic], I can’t imagine operating a growing business alone in this environment,” says David about the close-knit team culture of FarmTogether. “It’s extremely daunting and very lonely. I think it’s great that we have a great team that works together and that we see each other as equal partners.”  If you are interested in learning more about farmland and agtech investing, check out the free resources on http://www.farmtogether.com (www.FarmTogether.com).
