To wywróciło życie jej i rodziny do góry nogami.
Jedna kreska, brzuszek, brzuszek – niezbyt trudna ta literka, radę da nawet maluszek. To „B” duże, a „b” małe? Jeden brzuszek ma dopiero, jednak równie doskonałe! Skoro więc o „B” jest mowa, i kiedy do dzieci mówię, coś o bajkach trzeba dodać! Wielu miało w bajkach wprawę, jednak „B” się trzymać mamy, więc dwóch twórców dziś przedstawię: Jana Brzechwę – już go znacie – bajek, wierszy cała gama, świetne pióro – nie przyznacie? Kaczka, ba, zwierzyniec cały, dziki dzik i małpie figle – zwierząt cechy... i przywary. Brzechwa żył w dwudziestym wieku. Któż pamięta tamte czasy?! Zdziwisz się, młody człowieku. Nim się dorosłymi stali, mama, tata, dziećmi będąc, bajki Brzechwy dobrze znali. Nie należy zapominać twórcy renesansowego. Kto nim był? Biernat z Lublina! Będzie to koncepcja nowa! Trzeba by nam przetłumaczyć Biblię – o tej księdze mowa!” No bo przecież eskapady w weekend nas czekają wreszcie – i w Beskidy, i w Bieszczady! W cumowanej w porcie Gdynia Błyskawicy, naszej chlubie, poczujemy tamten klimat. Hej ho, wejdźmy na pokłady, a sam okręt nam ukaże dzielnych marynarzy ślady. Nazw na „B” zbiór niesłychany! Nie wymyślam już nic więcej. Jeszcze tylko te bociany... Chcecie więcej? Poszukajcie! W książkach, głowach, internecie, Trochę choć zapamiętajcie…

We were last in Europe in the Summer of 2023! Europe's train system is one of the easiest in the world to use and 9 times out of 10 will be cheaper and faster than any airline travel you can book. While airports are obviously located outside of all the historic city centers that you wish to visit, the great European train stations are usually smack in the middle of the tourist districts. Amsterdam Central and Gare du Nord in Paris are two perfect examples. Train stations don't have the massive security lines that airports are saddled with. Usually, a ticket is all you need to go from curb to platform meaning that you just need to arrive 15-20 minutes before your train rather than 2-3 hours at an airport. When you start doing the math, often a longer train ride is more time efficient than a shorter trip in the air. For example, to fly from London to Paris can take 45 minutes in the air but add in getting to the airport, through security, waiting for potential delays and then getting back in the city once you land can take up to five hours while the chunnel train has you leaving London and perusing in Paris in about three hours. Trains can connect two key destinations on your itinerary together with an overnight trip. Hopping on an overnight sleeper in Amsterdam for less than $200.00 then pull into Zurich. Spend a morning in Zurich and after lunch, you can continue on to points in all directions including Venice, Milan, Vienna, Munich and more. Trains often offer better views than one would imagine. Yes, you'll definitely see a slice of real life as trains leave the pristine city centers and make their way out toward the countryside. And that countryside! With patchwork quilt fields making up local farms, hills, mountains, rivers and lakes. There's plenty to see as trains make their way from one big city through plenty of sleepy villages to another famous icon. Fave trains: Thalys Paris to Amsterdam TrenItalia: Paris to Milan Any train is switzerland

We were last in Europe in the Summer of 2023! Our answer is simple!!! USE A TRAVEL AGENT TO BOOK YOUR AIR!!!! When booking air, consider asking about these questions: Is that the best price or the best layover? Find good layover options Usually about the same as expedia or other third party flight choices Does that come with baggage? What are the seat assignments with that ticket? Is my ticket refundable or reschedulable? Have your air travel backed up with a little help. If something happens while I'm on my travels, can I call you for help? Most airlines won't help you if things get serious, they will insist that you call your agent. A home base to call should something go wrong. Get your travel insurance plan together What is the best kind of insurance to cover this trip? A little investment goes a long way The fastest way to take care of an issue away from home What exactly does this policy cover? Air ambulance, luggage, flights, delays, hospitals…. MEDJET vs. Nomad Insurance Who do I call if there is an emergency? Like ask for the number!

We were last in Europe in the Summer of 2023! It sounds like such a great deal! But there a couple of things you should know when it comes to those too good to be true travel deals. You pay for how your time is used and keep that in mind for everything that you do. Getting a group rate airfare means that there is no upgrading and not many options. In short, the control of your flights does not belong to you. You can't use points or miles for upgrades You can add the trip to your account though If there is any delay or cancellations, the tour company or cruise line will be in charge of how the problem gets remedied. The before and after Choose to fly in early and explore something close by or stay on later to enjoy after your tour. A few examples are PARIS, ROME, A GREEK ISLAND Even cruises are jumping on board the extended stays! Often, these are offered as an add on but look closely and you will see that they often easily arranged and cover simple venues and activities. The Layover The art of the layover has been analyzed from every angle possible!!! From Anthony Bourdain's show to movies about airport life. The Layover is a great way to capitalize on your time. Airport Layovers like Munich or Istanbul Get out layovers like copenhagen or Heathrow Airports that might have a tougher layover: Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam You need MORE than 10 hours to make these worth it. You have the options!
Christmas, Tradition and Holidays in General. When I think about the holidays, I think about large family gatherings, fake birds chirping in the Christmas tree, my Babcia cooking pierogis in butter, bacon and onions and serving me a huge plate, my cousin tripping and falling into the tree trying to turn off the chirping bird. I think of Christmas eve singing Polish and English carols. I remember the long table with 30 people sitting around the room celebrating togetherness. Life was pure as a child. Being the youngest of the generation, I seemed to see everything from the lowest viewpoint. I heard everything that was said that may or may not have been appropriate.......................plus a piece on genes and mental health. Recipe of the week is here as well. Enjoy, Dr. M
Jakie masz relacje z babcią i dziadkiem swoich dzieci? Babcia i dziadek to wyjątkowe postacie w rodzinie.

We were last in Europe in the Summer of 2023! Dear Babcia and YiaYia- I've been researching trips to Italy and Ireland. I don't want to plan an entire trip DIY style but I don't want to follow a package deal on a crowded bus either. So far, I haven't found something that takes into account everything that I'm hoping to do. With so many travel and tour companies to choose from, how do I know that I'm investing my time and money correctly? I don't want to be disappointed in the end and I don't want to waste my time. Can you give me some advice? Lets breakdown all the different tour packages that you can use to experience The first rule of travel is that you will always pay for your time. Without a slower travel pace and a flexible calendar you are not going to see a huge savings. This is especially true All inclusive stays and tours including cruises Add on to one of those? The second rule of travel is that something will go wrong Tour packages that include group based activities that may include air, etc. Often from a church or a community group (bus tours of ___) The third rule of travel is that you'll NEVER, EVER get to everything on your bucket list Boutique travel experiences that create bespoke itineraries for specific goals These kind of experiences include a consultation, and a lot of preplanning, we like to include a lot of pre and post trip communication and will even add in workshops for things like packing or passports Customized itineraries like bamboo travel reach out for more detailed travel Not the “best of” The fourth rule of travel is that DIY isn't always the best option (Christmas cookie ingredient analogy) DIYers (the Disney effect)

We were last in Europe in the Summer of 2023! By far, your biggest single expense you will deal with on any trip are your tickets to get you to your destination! How do you choose wisely? Well, there's more to consider than just price. Most airlines like to route travelers from smaller airports to designated hubs that allows for easy transfer to international flights. When deciding which tickets to purchase, take into consideration that hub and whether or not it's convenient for your whole group to meet at or simply pass through. Choose accordingly! In addition to your wait time, you may have others, like grandma and grandpa, joining you on your trip to, say, Europe. Consider having them meet you at your hub so you can all fly to your final destination together. This gives you more adult hands on the longest leg of your trip. Whether I'm traveling on my own or with a group, I use the TripIt app to keep my itinerary straight. This app imports your email details into an easy to use timeline that helps you ensure that all of your reservations are taken care of and not overlapping. This includes flights, lodging, sites and transportation. Once you have a trip started, you can share it with all of the travelers in your group and interested parties who need to know where you are. Everyone in your group can keep up with the planning progress and share in the excitement. You will save time and money by carrying on/Plan your luggage needs. When buying your tickets, check into the luggage policies. Will the amount of bags you are taking be covered? What are the stroller and car seat policies? Can you choose your seats ahead of times? What are the carry-on requirements? Packing for a trip is dicey. You want to take everything you will need but you don't want to lug it all around. Research the best advice out there and keep it to a minimum. Checking for good laundry options will also help you pair down your packing. There's only one way to get to a destination/ Choose an alternative airport. You are headed to London and the tickets are expensive. However, there's a $500.00 difference from home to Paris. Okay, get to Paris and take the train straight into St. Pancreas Station. You just saved about $1000.00! Consider other airport alternatives: Shannon and Dublin, Warsaw and Krakow, Glasgow and Edinburgh, the list goes on. You may find that you have the opportunity for an adventure you never even considered. having a good plan to get back to reality isn't such a bad idea. This is also a good time to check on customs policies for your destination. For example, travelers go through customs before boarding flights in Dublin. Know what to expect. Everybody has to fly together. Choose a family friendly hub.Share your trip wisely.Have an exit strategy.

Noooo... not a pub crawl! We bet that you've already seen all of those little eco golf carts all over the center of Krakow. They are the perfect set of wheels to explore all of those amazing churches dotting the old town and beyond. Don't get us wrong, there are plenty in walking distance from the main square and you'll get to see everything from priceless altar pieces to the altar dedicated to St. Hyacinth, the patron saint of the pierogi! However, those eco carts can get you to some of the further flung churches like Corpus Christi and give you a little bonus look at the Kazimierz District! Each and every one has a different look and a different feel. Each has a little bit of a different story and plenty of historical references including side chapels with amazing art and architecture and religious references including the hometown hero saints like Pope John Paul II and Maximillian Kolbe. Summer is the perfect season to enjoy the European football season (even if you aren't a die hard fan in real life). In all reality, the game isn't the point. The experience of being in a pub or cafe as the game is on with people cheering for a team is the true fun of it all. So, book a table, figure out which side everyone is rooting for and blindly follow as best you can. Trust us! You'll have a ball! The Vistula River winds its way through Krakow connecting the Old Town and Kazimierz areas with the Podgorze district. The Father Bernatek Bridge was built in 2010 and is a lovely place to cross. We were last in Europe in the Summer of 2023! You hear it all the time! Create a capsule wardrobe to be a successful traveler. It makes any potential packer think that they need to order and buy specialty clothes to only use when there's a suitcase at hand. Not so fast! We, here at Babcia and YiaYia, think that you might be selling yourself and your closet a little short. That's right, we think you probably have far more than you think to complete the perfect travel wardrobe. You already know all of the things in your closet that are high maintenance They wrinkle fast and never wash well. You probably pull them out once or twice a year. They probably won't pack very well anyway. Additionally, you probably know what kind of weather your head toward so out of season stuff is not part of your packing equation. It's your favorite one and you pair it with black and white all the time. Ours is blue. It goes with our complexions and never fails to photograph well. You probably have this color weaving in and out of every rack in your closet anyway. Black. White. Denim. These wardrobe basics are the foundation to your mix and match packing style. It's time to start pairing items together so that everything you take pulls a double shift. We start with the amount of days from take off to laundry. Do you have seven days until laundry? Then you need 5 bottoms in cool weather and 6 bottoms in hot weather. (Why six? Try sweating all day and then trying to look refreshed for dinner.) Seven days also needs 6-7 tops. There are many people who will give you different numbers but sweat doesn't lie. Then make sure each top has a different bottom that will make a new look. If you like dresses, simply subtract one for every dress you plan to pack. Just remember that every dress you take needs to pack well. It also needs to be useful. Dresses for a rafting trip won't do you much good but an easy to use maxi dress might be just perfect for evenings in Paris. No matter what the weather, we always pack a wrap, a cardigan, and a scarf. Sounds like overkill? Well, we find that we use every single item every single time. Wraps are perfect as a double for plane blanket or pillow. The most important thing about these pieces is that they go with every single outfit we bring. You are definitely going to need walking shoes. These will most likely be your bulkiest shoes and you will most likely wear them on the plane just like us. Additionally, you are going to want a pair of shoes that turns all of your outfits into a smarter look for evening. This may be a pair of flats or sandals. The point is, they elevate your look somehow to give you a little oomph. Take all of those picks and pack them up. Try not to open it for three or four days. Then, take it all out and decide if it's a keeper. You're ready to make a shopping list of the very few things that may be missing.

Hello to you listening in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane WyzgaThe next morning when Babcia awoke it seemed to her all a dream. Surely the great Kings had not come; surely she had not refused to follow them. And she jumped from her bed.Babcia looked for her broom. It was not in its usual place in the corner, nor in the cupboard or behind the stove. Where was her broom? Then she remembered. She was sweeping the doorstep when the Three, when the dream came. She opened the door. There was her broom standing in the snow. Snow had fallen through the night. There was no trace of wagon wheels or footsteps. Babcia felt puzzled.... Story Prompt: No matter your religion, creed or belief this remains a world-wide season yearning for hope, peace and goodwill toward all Creation. Imagine that place. Write that story! Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. If you wish share your story with someone or something. All that matters is you have a story. You're invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time! Hello to you listening in Warsaw, Poland!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Thoughts on Thursday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Late one snowy night in Poland, more than nineteen hundred years ago, Babcia was sweeping her house. She was the best housekeeper in the village. And although she lived by herself, her little cottage was as bright as a groszy. Her painted walls were gay with color. Her carved doorway, her carved bed, her little carved chairs were waxed and polished until they shone like the soft satin of some rich lady's gown. From sunup to sundown Babcia was at work in her tiny house, so it was no wonder that she was still sweeping late this snowy night...You're invited: “Come for the stories - stay for the magic!” Speaking of magic, I hope you'll subscribe, follow, share a 5-star rating and nice review on your social media or podcast channel of choice, and join us next time!
