To kick the year off properly, we had to go big on big for the one and only Trae Young! The young bull has been carving a lane for himself since his Norman North High School days in Oklahoma. He sat down to talk about his father's influence, a new wave of points guards, and Quin Snyder's already large impact on the Hawks. But before diving in, we had to answer the question: What exactly is going on over at the Golden State Warriors? With the room for errors growing smaller and smaller, Coach Kerr will need to begin making decisions about which era the organization wants to stand behind. Just down the road, while the Lakers might be struggling, LeBron still finds himself shining during Pharrell's new Louis Vuitton Spring 2024 drop. And lastly, if the guys could do it all over again...who is attending their retirement game?

My guest today is Francesca Gino, a professor at Harvard Business School focused on why people make the decisions they do at work, and how leaders and employees have more productive, creative and fulfilling lives. Harvard is well-known for their case studies being used by colleges and companies all over the world, and when I saw she wrote a case study on Steve Kerr, I had to get her on the podcast. Our conversation today starts with lessons learned from studying and talking to Coach Kerr. Then we shift to the topic of her best selling book, Rebel Talent: Why it Pays to Break Rules in Work and Life. She was one of the most impressive people I've talked to before, and if I haven't convinced you to listen yet, know she had just finished a session teaching an NBA staff on various topics. My co-host today is Oliver Winterbone, Director of Coaches and Executives at Wasserman, one of the premiere talent management companies in the world. He previously worked for the Oklahoma City Thunder and University of Florida Men's Basketball program in various roles. The Athletic named him to their NBA 40 under 40 list earlier this year. Draymond apologize to the team and in the media but is this enough? Should Draymond be suspended because of this event?
Robert Horry and the crew talk about Rob's upcoming trip to Houston, and what he's doing for the Rockets as NBA Draft Day approaches. We then go all in on the Finals recap as the Warriors win the title, and Rob has big props for both Coach Kerr and Klay Thompson on the heels of a huge Finals performance. And of course we discuss the legacy of Steph Curry now that he has a Finals MVP, and Robert disagrees with Draymond Green's sentiment about never being able to recapture the feeling of your first championship - this coming from a guy who's won seven! Plus we dive into Steph's place in NBA history, Charles Barkley's on-going feud with Kevin Durant, and what the future holds for Kyrie Irving as he and the Nets hit an "impasse". We hand out a great Big Shot of the Week, and play a hilarious round of Google Feud.

After reaching an agreement on the CBA, the MLB lockout comes to an end. The SF Giants went right into action signing free agent pitcher, Carlos Rodon. Meanwhile, Jimmy Garoppolo successfully underwent shoulder surgery, but the bigger news came when Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos shaking up the NFC West. The 49ers have re-signed some players, but still need to prioritize other signings. Also, the Warriors broke their losing streak winning their last two games as Coach Kerr switched Steph Curry's rotation pattern. On the 18th of January 1984, Dr. Malcolm H. Kerr, president of the American University of Beirut, was assassinated on campus. The gunmen were never caught. Now, 37 years later, Dr. Kerr's son -- former award-and-title-winning National Basketball Association (NBA) player, and current head coach of the Golden State Warriors -- Steve Kerr, remains a gun violence prevention advocate. Kerr, who has spoken at length about the need for policies like universal background checks and the need to remember the names of those lost to gun violence, is also deeply concerned with a lack of action by government officials. Today, Coach Kerr joins hosts Kelly and JJ to discuss how he came to be publicly involved in gun violence prevention efforts, why generation Z may save us all, and how we can all better fight for gun violence prevention.
