The boys are back in town and ready to get down so let's light this bottle rocket. After we recap the events of this year's Crypticon Seattle, we take a trip down Mexico way to discuss a not-so-jolly rancher who found 17 of his animals killed by probably a chupacabra. Right? Definitely a chupacabra. For Horror Business, we discuss a whole bunch of A24 news, like what's up with Crystal Lake? Also, a new film from a vintage duo as well as a new film from another not-so-vintage duo. We also talk about TWO new Evil Dead projects as well as our ol' pal Mike Flanagan tackling a classic. For our film reviews, we celebrate Founders Day - once we figure out what it is - and try not to get our heads smashed by a bright red judge with a giant gavel. We then sit down in front of the TV to watch an old school talk show that devolves into a Late Night with the Devil. So grab some popcorn and candy and a 54 ounce soda and enjoy the show!

A “Renaissance person” has many skills and areas of knowledge. This is an accurate description of Dennis Hayes – he collects vintage Halloween, creates whimsical art, and produces art shows. His business name, Runamuck Studio, is a nod to his love of variety. Today you can find him sculpting with paper clay, building feather trees, and carving scrimshaw. His creative style is bright with strong influences of vintage Halloween. His vintage collection includes over 250 paper party hats, some over 100 years old. He is drawn to pre-1960s Halloween, the more dedicate the better. It amazes him that these precious items have survived and he's honored to be their caretaker. He also collects Day of the Dead – his first piece was a lady with a questionable occupation. While living in California, he was a producer of All Hallows Art Fest and Halloween and Vine. When he moved to the Seattle area, there wasn't a local Halloween art show so he created Hallowbaloo. In this interview, he gives us a sneak peek of the format of this year's show and his predictions for the future of Halloween shows. A Halloween evangelist, he builds support for more Halloween shows, collectors, and artists. Dennis is passionate about discovering new talent, watching collectors enjoy themselves, and the magical moment of artists and collectors connecting. He said with humor, “unless you are dead inside, you'll want to collect Halloween.” Halloween has no rules – do what you like! We have, once again, returned from the haunted halls of Crypticon Seattle. This year's event was crawling with creatures of all sizes, from pint-sized Predators to a life-sized velociraptor. For us specifically, the weekend consisted of talking to a group of "modern monsters," a debate on what is - and isn't - horror, and a class on making your own Jason mask. Speaking of Crystal Lake's favorite son, Tony talked about the franchise's legacy and Taylor got roughed up by the man himself. To hear these stories and more, listen to our sixth annual retrospective on the largest gathering of the macabre in the Pacific Northwest and make sure to check out our photo gallery.

This week, we go totally off our basic structure, but hey, it’s our podcast and we can break our own rules. In this case, it works. For this episode, we are all about our new film, Manos Returns. All the Producers, Tonjia Atomic, Rachel Jackson, Joe Sherlock and me head for Crypticon Seattle along with much of our cast and crew to screen the premiere of our film. Crypticon is place we all came together, so seemed the place to bring it full circle and show it to an audience for the first time. Listen, and share our experience. For this episode, we begin with our interview with Diane Mahree Rystaad, who played Maggie, the mom and one of the three hapless travelers in the original Manos: The Hands of Fate. In Manos Returns, she is still trapped at The Valley Lodge with her daughter Debbie. If you have never heard of Manos: The Hands of Fate, stop right here and check out some of these links. http://www.cracked.com/personal-experiences-2150-5-things-i-learned-as-child-star-worst-movie-ever.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnxVbGZNHSs&t=2s See you back here when you’re ready. As our movie review, we review our own film…because we can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR4EEN-zoUQ For our “Things We Love” segment, we discuss all we love about Crypticon Seattle. There are sooo many things we love that did not make it into this episode, and only because there was so much to love, it’s overwhelming. And of course, we have our young Miss Araydia representing the pinky finger with her 2nd grade accounting of an episode of her own life. In this case, we hear about the school play Rumble in the Rain Forest and her experience as a monkey. As always, we could not do this without our technical help from Quinn, Natalie and the rest of the crew at The Revival League Podcast
Welcome to our annual Crypticon Seattle recap episode! Let us regale you with tales from the largest gathering of the macabre in the Pacific Northwest. I know... I know... we weren't going to do an episode this week due to Thom And Langley being at Crypticon Seattle, but here's the deal: Thom ended up coming home a day early and decided to call Brian. After a minute, we thought, "Why aren't we recording this for a podcast?" And so, we did just that. So, this episode is just us chatting over some news, some trailers... y'know, just old friends talking. This one's very casual and really fun.
Gather round kiddies, and hear legends of hilarious panels, wild parties, and all manner of horrible creatures roaming Crypticon Seattle 2017.

Crypticon Seattle has come and gone once again. "The largest gathering of fans of the macabre in the Pacific Northwest" has become a staple of the Grave Plot Podcast and this year may be the best yet. Listen in as we recap the weekend, including talking to Tony Todd and Kane Hodder or, as you may know them, Candyman and Jason Voorhees. We also spoke to Lisa Ovies, the director of the upcoming film Puppet Killer, and the good folks at Luchagore Productions and you can hear those interviews for yourself! You can also hear about the different panels we appeared on, drunk dancing with Krusty Bumbles, the many short films we watched, and a nightmarish adventure of simply getting home. So check it out and hopefully we'll see you there next year!

Hey there friends. It's time once again for our annual Crypticon episode. We went to the largest gathering of the macabre in the Pacific Northwest this weekend and we break down all the sights, sounds, and smells from the event. We, unfortunately, didn't get around to doing interviews this time, but luckily it's because the event was so crowded. It's great to see more people supporting the genre and we'll take that over talking to some celebrities any day. With that said, we tell you about some of the panels we saw, including the best movies of 2014, immortality as a plot device, Twin Peaks (featuring Sheryl Lee and Sherilynn Fenn), the Soska sisters, and Ken Foree. Crypticon is always a great event and if you get the chance to go next year, you definitely should. And come find us and say hi!
As a horror event organizer myself, it’s nice to talk to other people who do some of the same crazy things I do. It’s like joining brothers and sister in combat in a weird sort of way. It is a combat that we love and dedicate ourselves to, but it can seem like combat nonetheless. […] More
Hello boils and ghouls! Yep, that's right, we used the trademark phrase used by The Crypt Keeper. The reason? We went to Crypticon Seattle last weekend and we got to meet and interview the man behind the corpse, John Kassir (pictured). We also got a chance to spend a few minutes with the Soska twins, Jen and Sylvia, the writers and directors of American Mary and the upcoming See No Evil 2. It was fantastic getting to speak to all three of them, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did. You can check out our photos from the event on our Facebook. In lieu of Horror Business, we also got a chance to check out some panels while we there, including "The Best Horror Movies of 2013" and "Scary Sexy Time," a panel about who you would bang from the horror genre. It was... interesting. We also finally got a chance to see the independant film Truth or Dare, and give you our review of it. We also got a chance to take part in a Q&A session with the movie's writer/director Jessica Cameron, who was joined by Tristan Risk from American Mary and the short film Call Girl, which was also screened. All in all, we had a great time at the convention and hopefully you have a great time listening to it. Enjoy.
We let you guys pick our reviews and, quite frankly, you boned us! We take on the winners of the award, Wrong Turn and The Video Dead. They were... not well received. But some good news, we did get to interview the man in charge of the makeup competition at Crypticon Seattle, Rob Buchta. It was a fun interview and Rob gave us lots of good info. We can't wait to see him again at the event. In Horror Business, we discuss the latest on Beetlejuice 2 and the upcoming remake of It, as well as Wolves, Cell, and a movie based on R.L. Stine's Goosebumps books. In addition, we tell you about the Psycho house, which is in disarray. There is a petition out there to have it restored, we suggest you sign it. We hope you enjoy this show, since you helped create it. If you don't like it, you only have yourself to blame! Cheers!
The Kaijucast’s Kyle Yount invited me to participate in a panel all about Japanese Giant Monsters at Crypticon Seattle last month! Kyle and Jeff Dean of Kaijucast, Aron Tarbuck from The Dreaming Comics and Games in Seattle, and I had a great time talking about our favorite kaiju, and what we think makes them significant. Brother D takes a short movie-watching-and-reviewing break in Episode 186 of Mail Order Zombie, but that leaves room for a book review from Silent Death when he visits Dust by Joan Frances Turner. Need-a-Nickname Scott dips his toes into the news with the Zombie Beat, Don Coscarelli tells us a bit about John Dies at the End and we go back to Crypticon Seattle for the panel "Zombies Can’t Run & Vampires Don’t Sparkle: The Psychology of Why We Argue Over What Fictional Things Can Or Can’t Do" with Eloise J. 185 episodes into the podcast, and we're FINALLY talking about some Full Moon movies on Mail Order Zombie! Brother D takes a look at two recent Full Moon releases: The Dead Want Women (dir. Charles Band) and Zombies vs. Strippers (dir. Alex Nicolaou). D is still haunted by the ghosts of Crypticon Seattle, and to purge those demons, he shares with the MOZ Family interviews with zombie authors Craig DiLouie, Nate D. Burleigh and Lyle Perez-Tinics. (They're zombie authors in that they write about zombies. They're not zombies who write . . . at least, not yet.) And at the end of the show, Miss Bren takes her familiar position as the person who keeps Brother D on track during the Feedback Discussion. Brother D is on pins and non-Euclidean needles as he looks forward to this weekend's H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival & Cthulhu Con, but he's not so distracted that he can't put together Episode 181 of Mail Order Zombie! This time around, he takes a look at the 2012 zombie movie release The Terror Experiment (dir. George Mendeluk). This episode also features Part One of a two-part review of JABB pictures' latest anthology release The Collective, Volume 3. The Mail Order Zombie offers up some reviews of their own when Silent Death reviews the videogame The Walking Dead from Telltale Games, and a review of the Mira Grant's novel Feed comes from Eradication H. In addition to the Lovecraft Film Festival, Brother D will also be attending Crypticon Seattle this month where he'll be a panelist, so he talks about that as well before Miss Bren joins him for this episode's Feedback Discussion. We're dipping back into the Crypticon well with Episode 167.5 of Mail Order Zombie. This week, Brother D presents a recording from the Zombies! panel. It was a sort of free-for-all panel that took place Saturday night across the hall from the Saturday night loud-music-and-booze-filled party, so it sounds like there's a LOT more excitement happening in the room than they might have really been. Or not. Listen, and you decide. On the panel were Brother D, Eric Pope, Reverend en Fugue, Steven J. Holetz, Timothy W. Brother D and Miss Bren are catching their breath after last week's Crypticon Seattle, and the Mail Order Zombie Family is on board to help fill out the show while they unpack and reflect on the con. Need-a-Nickname Scott rocks the Zombie Beat with the best in the past two weeks' zombie news, Tracey brings two book reviews (Breathers: A Zombie's Lament by S. G. Browne and Handling the Undead by John Ajvide Lindqvist), Professor Chad reviews the answers from last month's ZAT and presents this months Zombie Aptitude Test question . . . and while Miss Bren is putting away the dirty clothes and empty suitcase, Brother D sneaks in a review of 2007's Long Live the Dead (dir. Keith Samland). Two celebrities from Crypticon (briefly) found their way into the Crypticon discussion, and if you like Midnight Syndicate, Miss Bren has a way for you to win a copy of their album The Dead Matter: Cemetery Gates.Email us at MailOrderZombie@gmail.com or call us at 206-202-2505!Palavr.com Forums - http://palavr.com/forum.php/Alienstone Entertainment - http://www.alienstoneentertainment.com/Long Live the Dead - http://www.alienstoneentertainment.com/LLTDPAGE.htmThe BoneBat Show - http://bonehand.com/BoneBat.htmlCreepercast - http://www.creepercast.com/HeartMarks - http://www.etsy.com/shop/HeartMarksKisses & Chaos - http://kissesandchaos.com/Tom Savini's back! - http://if.com.au/2011/05/30/article/Tom-Savini-comes-out-of-retirement-for-2-new-Aussie-horror-films/YRZVXHWDIA.htmlWorld War Z to film in Tunbridge Wells - http://www.thisiskent.co.uk/news/Pitt-s-stop-shoot-movie-sparks-town-excitement/article-3599875-detail/article.htmlMatri Noxon on Pride and Prejudice and Zombie script - http://www.thewrap.com/movies/column-post/pride-prejudice-and-zombies-gets-new-writer-marti-noxon-27839A Little Bit Zombie begins shooting - http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/5/prweb8478459.htmJoe Hill's Twittering from the Circus of the Dead - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/mandalay-picks-up-rights-joe-191102Gunhero, canceled zombie game - http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/30/concept-art-info-on-canned-zombie-game-gunhero/Trouble between Frank Darabont and AMC? - http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/24794Undead train safety - http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/norfolk-southern-helps-zombies-stay-safe-at-rail-crossings-122583338.html Brainy at the zombie walk - http://www.brainysworld.com/html/photos/(Various production music produced by Midnight Syndicate and Kevin MacLeod.)

It's a Sunday surprise! In Episode 132.5 of Mail Order Zombie, Brother D interviews Lyle Perez-Tinics about the upcoming zombie anthology The Undead That Saved Christmas. Also, we have another panel from Crypticon Seattle 2010; Brother D moderates a panel called Remaking Romero, and he was joined by Mark Rahner, S. G. Browne and Chris Martens. In this episode, we also reveal the name of the next movie in MOZ's month-long look at Asian zombie movies, and we have a very special voicemail from Deadfinger.Email us at MailOrderZombie@gmail.com or call us at 206-202-2505!Vote for us at Podcast Alley at http://tinyurl.com/mozvote/Mail Order Zombie Wikia - http://mailorderzombie.wikia.com/Deadfinger on eBay - http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/mastergoldfinger/The Undead That Saved Christmas - http://tinyurl.com/undeadchristmas/The Undead That Saved Christmas on Facebook - http://tinyurl.com/undeadchristmasfb/
It's been requested, so in this week's episode of Mail Order Zombie, Cemetery Man, aka Dellamorte Dellamore, gets its Headshot(s) review. And consider yourselves warned - there are some spoilers here (of course, the movie is over fifteen years old, so the statute of limitations on Spoiler Warnings may have expired!). Last month's Zombie Aptitude Test questions are reviewed, and we'e already started receiving answers for this month's ZAT (Undead Karaoke, baby!). Also, we got to talk with author Timothy W. Long (The Zombie Wilson Diaries and The Apocalypse and Satan's Glory Hole). Add a little Miss Bren and Need-a-Nickname Scott, and a Crypticon Seattle recording in which we talk about obscure zombie movies (and a brief meandering about Labyrinth in which Brother D mentions Jennifer Connelly and Miss Bren DOESN'T immediately slug him), and you've got Episode 128 of MOZ. Three reviews, two interviews and we lost track of how many emails & voicemails we received this week! In Episode 127 of MOZ, Brother D reviews 2005's Shock-O-Rama , a kinda-sorta anthology movie from director Brett Piper. Scott Cole (13 Visions) returns with a new installment of Dead Air in which he reviews The Peoria Plague, a 1970s zombie radio drama - you need to hear this review! Also, MOZ Family Members Kim and Julie join the fun this week with a review of the audio drama We're Alive. Brother D caught up with writer Steven L. Frank and artist Ben Glendenning at Crypticon Seattle 2010 where he spoke with them about their comic Zombies vs. Cheerleaders, which Brother D and Miss Bren discuss (don't forget the contest!) before diving into this week's Feedback Discussion.Mail Order Zombie forums - http://tinyurl.com/mozforumEmail us at MailOrderZombie@gmail.com or call us at 206-202-2505!Vote for us at Podcast Alley at http://tinyurl.com/mozvote/Mail Order Zombie Wikia - http://mailorderzombie.wikia.com/Choose which zombies movies MOZ will cover in August - http://tinyurl.com/mozasianZombies vs. CheerleadersWe're AliveBrother D's review of Screaming Dead at Deadpit.com - http://www.deadpit.com/blog/?p=397The Black Death's puppetry linkThe Undead that Saved Christmas charity projectDead Rising 2 pushed back until SeptemberLaura Shigihara singing the theme to Plants vs Zombies with George FanBreck Eisner on The Crazies (2010) - Are they zombies?Help Zombie Girl make her next filmZombie Fitness ClassZombiefit Class video(Various production music produced by Kevin MacLeod)
