We are charged to be AMBASSADORS.  That is, we are to carry a message to the world.  The world is just a fancy term for one individual after another.  God comes primarily to people one at a time. The message is one of reconciliation.  We can be right with God and be restored.  Guess who wandered away?  Guess who violated the contract?  Guess who has a crime that needs to be paid for?  Today then, either BE reconciled, or if you are found in Christ as we meet this morning, then GO and reconcile.bewithme.us

Welcome! Our school year started and It's hooooometowns! Question: The episode begins in NOLA! What is your must have food item from NOLA?  Two minute recap: Gabby and Jason go to NOLA. He introduces Gabby to his dad who is adorable and weepy and I love him. Then he meets  more of his family and they love Gabby. Then Jason drops that he can't see himself getting engaged. The memes are coming from him. Normal? Honest? Dude, do you know what show you are on? Side note: I love how his parents are like, get engaged and later on we get, well, the opposite. Next up is Rachel and Zach in Anaheim. All this plane stuff: yo, it is so weird to me that there all these work themes dates. Its like when you dream about working. No. This is a date, I'm not clocking in. Zach's family is a little more reserved about the Bachelorette process and asked some pointed questions. Then they watch videos of Zach and Rachel making out. Weird right? Next in line is Gabby and Jonny in Palm Beach. Y'all I've lived in all these placesJonny's family is pretty; they have a white couch- which I apparently think makes you rich. They like Gabby. And, of course, Jonny isn't ready for a proposal either. His dad says, go for it. Poor Gabby gets  I'm not ready for a proposal and people are declaring their love for Nicole. What gives?. So Gabby and Johnny makeout on a sunset cruise. Wasn't he just living on a cruise ship? Next, Rachel and Tyler head to Wildwood, NJ. I've never lived here. Fun side note, they haven't had a one-on-one yet. Tyler is hyped. He is playful. A kid on the raddest playground. But Rachel is “it is getting serious.” Tyler says he is in love. Rachel is like,  whoah dawg I'm not sure i want to meet your family. Tyler has to tell his family on camera that he got dumped. Dang. These producers work hard.  After that we need something happy, right? So here comes Gabby and Erich off to visit his terminal ill father. As an ICU nurse, Gabby handled  things well but  dang that is a big thing to walk into. Erich tells Gabby he is  falling in love with her. Finally.  Confession,  his name is spelled stupid and so is his hair but I find him attractive. Hate me.  The final hometown is Rachel and Tino. It should be  perfect given their connection  right? Nope his family is not on board with this. Yiikes. Rachel is obs upset. Can it work now with  her beloved Tino! Concept 1: Do you think you would be a “support whatever decision you make” parent or a “this is big and  this show is weird, run!” parent? Does the approach family's take matter?Concept 2: What to do when someone says “I love you” and you just ain't there.Concept 3:  Whoa did you see that preview? No Gabby.  What are your predictions?Host 2 wildcard topic: What is the appropriate amount of time to wait until getting engaged?Average length between 2-3 yearsEngagement 12-18 months5ish years total meeting to marriageCity Shout OUt: Tinton Falls, New JerseyLessons learnedSign off

Soul and rhythm, heartbreak and boy trouble, big hair and sequined dresses. Deeper Roots goes on a romp through the early years of rock and soul sharing the very special talents that filled the AM airwaves of the fifties and sixties. It was almost impossible to select one song from each of these groups but we had to given the time constraints. There were the “Ettes”: The Chordettes, The Bobettes, The Marvelettes, The Ronettes, and The Ikettes; The Angels, The Murmaids, The Crystals, The Jelly Beans, and The Tammys. There were the Detroit sounds, the Wall of Sound, the Brill Building, and the Philly sounds. Perfectly delicious and light-hearted pop and soul from every corner. Tune into for a listen. Two hours of Deeper Roots this week.

By 2003, post-hardcore dominated the zeitgeist, with the Blood Brothers, Cursive making their definitive LPs. In 2008, the garage rock underground exploded with classic releases by Nobunny and the Ettes, while punk rock ruled the day in 2013. There are few people around I’d rather sit down and discuss music with for 45 minutes than Greg Cartwright. Beyond the laundry list of excellent bands he’s fronted, from The Oblivians to The Reigning Sound (and the dozens in-between), the Tennessee musician makes no bones about being a huge music fan himself.  That fact has manifested itself in countless side projects like The Parting Gifts with Ettes singer CoCo and records like Dangerous Game, which saw the return of Shangri-Las singer Mary Weiss after a number of decades away from the music scene. Cartwright’s deep love of music affords him an impressive level of insight when it comes to discussing his own output over the years — and almost invariably leads us down all manner of musical rabbit holes in the interim. I sat down with Cartwright backstage at The Bowery Ballroom to discuss his near decision to retiring The Reigning Sound name and the band’s subsequent return to recording with the newly released Shattered, which finds him playing with a number of recent recruits and a new-found lease on life for one of rock and roll’s most exciting groups.
