The first time I sat with my shaykh, he reluctantly allowed a room full of students and admirers to ask him a series of questions. He replied quietly that the answer to all of the questions was the same, "forgive everyone and seek their forgiveness". Why it's important to forgive everyone who has ever done you wrong, including yourself. Healing tapping session on forgiveness at the end.
“If there is a God, surely, He'll just forgive everyone. The idea of judgment is just religion trying to scare people.” Ever heard that? Ever thought it yourself? It seems reasonable, right? Or does it?

Join us as Nathan brings us the latest message in our Do I Have To series. Some of Jesus's very last words as he hung on the cross were a prayer to God the Father that He might forgive the people who killed and mocked Him. And given that He came to die for us--for those who hundreds of years later would believe in His Name-- that prayer of forgiveness was for us too. So if that's true, why is it so hard for us to forgive other people who have hurt us? Jesus knew that the call to forgive was hard. That's why he talked about it a lot. And why we need to come back to His words and His example again and again.

Great Oaks Community Church Weekly Sermon Podcast.
In this sermon we learn that If we want God to forgive our sins and hear our prayers, we must forgive others. The key to this principle is relationship.
How's your heart, physically and emotionally? February is American Heart Month and this year the focus is on empowering Black adults to reduce their risks of heart problems. That's because the CDC says Black Americans ages 35 to 54 are two times more likely to die from heart disease than white adults. MPR News host Angela Davis digs into why that is and what you can do about it, beyond eating healthy and exercising. Listen back to some of our Wednesday wellness shows that cover how to sleep better and how to forgive someone and ease that emotional and physical agony. Hear from two Black cardiologists who will tell us how to improve the heart health of Black Minnesotans. Guests: Mary Hayes Grieco is the author of the book: “Unconditional Forgiveness: A Simple and Proven Method to Forgive Everyone and Everything.” She's also the director of The Midwest Institute for Forgiveness Training in Minneapolis. Dr. Michael Howell is a neurologist who specializes in sleep disorders. He's program director of the Clinical Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Hennepin Healthcare and the University of Minnesota, as well as medical director of the Fairview Sleep Center in Edina. Dr. Virend Somers is a Mayo Clinic cardiologist with expertise in the metabolic and cardiovascular aspects of sleep. Dr. LaPrincess Brewer is a cardiologist and assistant professor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Her research focuses on heart disease prevention and testing new public health approaches to eliminating the racial disparities in cardiovascular disease. Dr. Courtney Jordan Baechler is medical director of health equity and health promotion at Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation at Allina Health. She's also a cardiologist practicing with Allina Health. Subscribe to the MPR News with Angela Davis podcast on: Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify or RSS. Forgiveness is something we all seek from those whom we have wronged, and there is no one more greatly wronged than God when we sin. Just as Jesus forgave our sins, so does He ask us to do the same, but is it really so simple? Do we forgive everyone? What if the ones who wronged us show no remorse or do not repent? Do we forget and treat it as if nothing wrong was done against us to begin with? How many times do we even forgive someone? When one stops to consider forgiveness, these questions likely pop up. In today's session, John takes us through the Bible on this topic of forgiveness. We encourage you to give it a listen! Unilateral Forgiveness - Father Edward 12-26-22
When you're in your darkest hour, dealing with tough circumstances that don't seem to have an end in sight, it can be easy to lose hope. And, have those around you give up on you, even abandon you. But, in today's powerful conversation, you'll discover how two people, from profoundly different walks of life, found each other and not only transformed their own lives, but also the lives of so many around them.Father Greg Boyle has become known to millions as the Jesuit priest who asked to be placed in a neighborhood in LA deeply affected by poverty, surrounded by gangs and unbearable violence, where he'd eventually found Homeboy Industries, which has since become the largest gang-intervention, rehabilitation, and reentry program in the world.Along the way, Fabian Debora found his way to Homeboy. A gang member, addicted, and formerly incarcerated, he lived a brutal life, at one point, becoming so despondent, he came close to taking his own life. All the while, Fabian had the soul, impulse, and wisdom of an artist that he kept trying to express. Fabian started creating stunning, large-scale paintings that reflected everything he'd experienced, and would eventually partner with Father Greg to become Executive Director of the Homebody Art Academy. They've partnered on a new book, Forgive Everyone, Everything. It is a powerful collection of Fr. Greg's most poignant writings and Fabian's stunning art, making this book a modern-day devotional that will provoke and inspire readers. You can find Father Greg at: Website | InstagramYou can find Fabian at: Website | InstagramIf you LOVED this episode you'll also love the conversations we had with Mike Han about the power of artistic expression as a source of impact and connection.Check out our offerings & partners: My New Book SparkedMy New Podcast SPARKED: We're looking for special guest “wisdom-seekers” to share the moment you're in, then pose questions to Jonathan and the Sparked Braintrust to be answered, “on air.” To submit your “moment & question” for consideration to be on the show go to sparketype.com/submit. Holiday traditions and festive gatherings are an opportunity to see family and old friends. While this time of year can be filled with joy, it might not be wonderful for everyone. Along with the people who love and support you, there may also be someone who caused you pain and that person could be sitting at the table. You might not have forgiven this person because of the anger, resentment, and bitterness their actions have caused you. But holding on to that pain can eat away at you and could be harmful to your health. MPR News host Angela Davis talks with Mary Hayes Grieco about forgiveness and why forgiving the people who hurt you the most is beneficial to your health. Guest: Mary Hayes Grieco is the author of “Unconditional Forgiveness: A Simple and Proven Method to Forgive Everyone and Everything” and the director of The Midwest Institute for Forgiveness Training in Minneapolis. I Forgive Everyone In My Past. I am able to forgive everyone that has ever hurt me. I let go of negativity from previous experiences and set myself free from the prison of grudges, pain, and anger. I remove the bitterness from my heart and mind. Holding onto this pain is unnecessary, unproductive, and keeps me a victim of my past. I choose to move forward into a life without it. I eliminate the desire for revenge from my heart as I allow the universe and karma to handle things instead. I feel that it is important to let go and make peace. I reject past pain and anger. I get rid of the blame without residual sadness. I notice the lightness I feel after letting go of the past and the people from it. I am able to find joy again because I forgive. I forgive myself, too. I get rid of the constant reminders of previous mistakes and errors. I do what I can to make up for my mistakes, learn from them, and move on with a lighter heart. I acknowledge my feelings and forgive. Today, I show forgiveness and move on from my past. I stop allowing the past to control me and my present. I let go of it and the people who hurt me.I get rid of the pain, sadness, anger, and resentment and replace it with new memories I can cherish. Self-Reflection Questions: 1. How can I forgive people without letting them hurt me again? 2. Where can I get more help to learn forgiveness? 3. What can I do to make it easier for me to forgive and move on? So often we're told to cut the toxic people out of our lives, that those relationships serve only as a detriment to us and our psyche… but what happens when those relationships are intricately entwined with other loved ones? “Worrying is like paying a debt you don't owe.” Another is just like it and perhaps equally or more damning – this one from Marianne Williamson – it goes, “Unforgiveness is like drinking poison yourself and waiting for the other person to die.” The reason I use both quotes is that they both are self-fulfilling prophecies that we do to ourselves by not forgiving. We inflict the additional damage on ourselves, not realizing this compound the issues stemming from the original acts that cause the unforgiveness to begin with. It's a double-death! Here's the third-death and the worse death we get from unforgiveness that most don't know, or don't realize – God does not and will not forgive our sins unless we forgive others! Yes, it's true and here is the scripture to back this up – Matt. 6:14 “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matt. 6:15 “But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. When we repent and confess our sins, as a believer, the Lord will grant us relief from His discipline, but Jesus says in Matthew 6 that if a believer is so hardhearted that he or she withholds forgiveness in earthly relationships, then the Lord will withhold His forgiveness for that person's sins as well, which means the Lord will visit earthly discipline against such a hardhearted believer. How many more hours or days or years do you want to remain in bondage over a person who God can help free you from in the blink of an eye? The answer to that belongs to you and rests solely on your shoulders, or in this case, your heart and your faith in God. Don't wait another day!

Forgiveness is often a word visited upon us by way of religiosity, spirituality, morality, addiction and recovery. Yet more than just a word that can be pressed upon us–forgiveness is a process that we get to practice until the weight of what we've been holding is cleared from our minds, bodies, energy and environments. Forgiveness is ours to both create and receive, in ways which invite us to tell our whole truth, feel all our feelings and care for ourselves along the way. Today, we examine this and more.
