Welcome to The Human Centered Design Network Podcast. In today's episode, I'm diving into conversation with Graham Nolan, the Head of Design for Accenture Song in Ireland. We're going to be discussing an Accenture Trends Report, which as many of you know, is an annual report that's been created for the last 16 or 17 years, I believe. And we're particularly going to be focusing on the role of generative AI. And we're exploring both the benefits and the challenges. From responsible data usage to governance. So we'll discuss how organisations and individuals can benefit from having their own localised AI. Now, we highlight the critical importance of understanding AI's impact on trust, ethics, and brand creation. It's fascinating to see how AI is transforming tasks like search, turning traditional search bars into something that's a little bit more efficient, and also that gives us the power of having some conversational tools. We're going to try to understand revolutionising customer service and the interactions that surround both customer service and interaction touch points. Now, despite the fears of AI replacing jobs, we discuss what it's more likely to do in terms of automating tasks, freeing the employees for better use of their time and more strategic and creative efforts, which most businesses out there are really interested in doing. Another interesting point in this conversation, is the apparent lack of customer obsession in many organisations. That was identified in the trends report. And this is reflected in practices like shrink inflation, reduced staffing and surge pricing, pushing the boundaries of customer forgiveness. Now, Accenture Ireland is always on the lookout for talented designers and hosts. It's a vibrant design chapter connecting designers across the company. The trends report is now available to download digitally and encourage you to connect with Graham on LinkedIn for more insights. Stay tuned to The Human Centered Design Network Podcast as we unpack the evolving trends and discuss what organisations like yourselves need to design and create a better future for all. linkedin.com/in/grahamnolan https://www.accenture.com/content/dam/accenture/final/accenture-com/document-2/Accenture-Life-Trends-2024-Full-Report.pdf Become a member: https://www.thisishcd.com/landing/circle-a-community-for-ethically-conscious-designers-changemakers Book a Coaching Chemistry Call: https://calendly.com/gerryscullion/coaching-chemistry-call

“Jaw breaking, teeth busting, lip splitting, action tales. Pro masculine.”When it comes to finding your path in life, Graham's got some solid advice. Be passionate about your goals, but also be realistic about your skills.Graham Nolan, a comic book legend from the DC and Marvel universe back in the day, is joining us to talk about his journey from the mainstream comic industry to founding Compass Comics after things got a bit too "woke" for his taste. Graham's been married for 38 years and has raised three daughters. He's a firm believer in the idea that marriage between masculine and feminine is what makes us truly human. It's absolutely possible to find success while staying true to your masculine values in today's world. Graham has seen firsthand how the comic book business changed over the years, with corporations caring less about the quality of the product and more about milking IPs for movies and TV, resulting in modern, woke ideology making its way into the Marvel and DC universe. That's where Compass Comics comes in - it's all about staying true to the tradition of storytelling and giving the wokesters a big middle finger.Talking about the portrayal of men in the media, Graham's fed up with the massaging from the media telling us that men are nothing more than goofballs and comic relief, with children not needing to respect them.Check out Graham's latest project, "Giant Size Two Fisted Manly Tales."You're invited to come to a Sovereign Circle meeting to experience it for yourself. Are you ready for Graham Nolan? We hope so, because the artist is bringing his unique style to today's episode. Graham broke onto the comics scene in the late 80s, and got early notice for his runs on DC's Power of the Atom and Hawkworld series. He really hit it big with writer (and past guest) Chuck Dixon with epic storylines in Detective Comics and the introduction of Bane. Later, he took up the art chores on the Rex Morgan, M.D. and The Phantom comic strips. Recently, he founded his own publishing company, Compass Comics, debuting a number of new series in an interconnected world. Chuck Dixon is the most prolific scripter in the history of comic books, with well over 40,000 pages of comics in publication. His work on both Batman and the "Punisher" are considered seminal to those franchises. He contributed the majority of the writing done on the legendary 'Knightfall' event for the Batman comic, which formed the basis for Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy (he also co-created the iconic villain Bane, with Graham Nolan), and is also the co-creator of the Birds of Prey comic series with Jordan B. Gorfinkel. Characters he's created for both DC and Marvel have appeared repeatedly in movies, television, and games and his adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" remains an international bestseller thirty years after its first publication. Chuck is also known worldwide, with comics written specifically for the European and Indian markets. He remains a major player in the growing world of independent comics, with dozens of new titles produced in recent years, and has written more than thirty novels (including his popular "Levon Cade" series and his recent "Conan the Barbarian" novel). Pride has grown and evolved considerably since its origin as a riot against Police brutality at The Stonewall Inn in 1969 New York. It's the time when the queer community as at its most visible, a monthly focal point for us to come together and celebrate the accomplishments that we have made as well as the found family we have forged. But our fight is not over. Queer and especially trans people are under attack both in the U.S. where 240+ anti-queer bills have been passed in 2022 alone, and in the U.K. where trans people are continually fighting for equal rights and healthcare. That is why this week we are bringing you a special #5Things episode that dives into the meaning of Pride, how we can practice allyship to the queer community, and where Pride evolves from now. Tommy Boyce speaks with Graham Nolan, Bee Pahnke and Asad Shaykh about #5Things you should be thinking about during Pride month this year: Why do we have Pride campaigns? How has Pride changed? How do we discuss and practice allyship? How should Pride evolve? What does Pride mean to you? Host: Tommy Boyce (Grey NY) Panel: Graham Nolan (Do the WeRQ), Bee Pahnke (Grey London) and Asad Shaykh (Grey London and Pride in London) Resources: The History of Pride in America, Anti LGBT+ Legislation in America, Anti-Trans Legislation in the U.K. To subscribe to our newsletter, please enter your email HERE!
