Victor highlights the unexpected success of 'It's What's Inside' on Netflix, despite its initial neglect, and critiques 'Salem's Lot' for its lackluster adaptation. He explores trends in the movie industry, including the waning appeal of superhero films and the adverse effects of poor word-of-mouth. Victor further offers curated recommendations for horror enthusiasts as Halloween approaches. In a discussion on foreign psychological thrillers, the script examines 'Sleep,' a South Korean narrative that darkens a couple's relationship amid sleep disturbances during pregnancy, and 'Red Rooms,' a French Canadian film tackling the obsession with a serial killer's trial through a model's perspective. There's no denying that the last couple of years have proven cape cinema to be not quite as bulletproof as the heroes on the screen. DC has been struggling with quality consistency, and even the once-foolproof Marvel has had some stumbles as of late. But can this be chalked up to (as critics have termed it) "superhero fatigue"? Or are there larger issues at play? On this edition of FYF, Saint and Jim try to crack open the underlying causes behind why tights-n'-flights flicks could be running out of steam. Plus: news, tangents musings and more.

An ongoing concern in the geekosphere world these days is the worry that “superhero fatigue” is setting in and the bubble is bursting. But the funny thing is, if you… The post e295. Superhero Fatigue & The Illusion of Change appeared first on The VoxPopcast.
“Is Superhero Fatigue The Greatest?” That's a loaded question isn't it? It's funny that it only took about 12 years of consistent, big budget comic book fare at the movies for us to declare that the party was over and mostly because one company “started losing the thread.” Ed and Producer Bill refute this assertion while also acknowledging the limitations of the genre as presently represented. There's a fantastic conversation to be had about the new ways that we are going to depict superheroes in the future via things like Invincible, The Boys, and the new James Gunn DC Universe. This is a great primer for the type of conversation we'll be having at LA COMICON (https://comicconla.com/) on Saturday December 2nd 2023 in Room 402 A at 3:00 p.m. and in our Nerdy Standup Show at 6:00 p.m. in Room 402 B!! Much has been made of the declining returns and reviews of post-Endgame MCU films, the DCEU is dead, and the DCU looks like it may be DOA. What's to blame for all of this? We look into whether superhero movies are past their prime and how we got here.

In this episode I'm joined by my wise man and good friend Honja as we talk everything superhero genre in media and my frustration of it all. Even giving cool ideas that we wish could happen in movies and their continuity.
Let's talk about The Flash like 3 months after everyone else (John only watched it this weekend). We haven't reviewed a new movie in a while, it seems. Is there superhero fatigue? If they keep making movies like this one, there definitely will be. Oh, and Batman and Supergirl and a whole of bunch of cameos are in it, too. Also deepfakes.
If clickbait sites are to be believed, society as a whole is suffering from a bit of "superhero fatigue", but does the concept actually exist? Is Blue Beetle the cure for what has been ailing WB's when it comes to crafting a well-made origin story? Will we ever get a live-action Spider-Ham movie? Some of these questions will be answered in this episode but if you wanna know which ones, you'll have to listen! Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes Superhero fatigue is a term that's been tossed around a lot lately and The Marvels director, Nia DaCosta, chimed in on the subject while speaking to Total Film Magazine. She expressed her belief that superhero fatigue absolutely exists, but that her upcoming MCU entry will stand out as wacky and silly in its depiction of bright worlds that have never been seen before. DC's latest film outing, Blue Beetle, hits theaters later this week and initial reactions from fan and press screenings are resoundingly positive, describing the flick as a surprisingly solid superhero origin story with a winning performance by star Xolo Maridueña, plenty of heart, humor, and a warm embrace of Latin culture. As of October 12th, price increases are on the way for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN subscribers. Disney+ with no ads will jump to 13.99 a month, Hulu without ads will increase to 17.99, and ESPN+ will land at 10.99 a month. Disney will also offer a bundle price for all three that offers a 37% discount from the standalone prices. They will be pairing these price increases with a promise to crack down on password sharing. The latest rumor being reported by several less-than-official outlets is that Marvel Studios plans to adapt elements of the 2014-2015 “Time Runs Out” comic storyline for a third Doctor Strange film. If the rumor is to be believed, it would see the film pick up immediately after the events of Multiverse of Madness, with Strange encountering a multiversal organization called the Black Priests, of which Clea is a member. They inform him the multiverse is decaying due to multiple incursions. Also the threat that Strange himself presents to the multiverse, as highlighted in Multiverse of Madness, would reportedly be a focal point. According to insider sources via Variety, a third “Wonder Woman” film is not in development at DC Studios, despite recent comments from Gal Gadot claiming James Gunn and Peter Safran told her they would develop “Wonder Woman 3” together. The sources also indicated Gunn and Safran do not have plans for any “Wonder Woman” project in the new DC Universe at this time other than their previously announced “Paradise Lost” prequel series for Max. Dracula inspired newcomer The Last Voyage of The Demeter could not compete with Barbie and Oppenheimer's continuing box office reign, debuting to a disappointing $6.5 million domestic opening. The first trailer for the John Wick spin off series The Continental has dropped. The series will debut on Peacock beginning September 22nd, with two more installments the following weeks.. Johnny Hardwick, the voice actor who played Dale on King of the Hill and was also a producer and writer of the show, tragically passed away last week at the age of 64. Hardwick was attached to reprise his role as Dale in the upcoming King of the Hill revival for Hulu. Netflix's The Fall of the House of Usher, an 8 episode limited series from Mike Flanagan based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe, will premiere Oct 12. A McDonalds collaboration with Loki is on the way, with a special version of sweet and sour sauce coming to restaurants in celebration of the upcoming second season of the series which is set to begin streaming in October. A majority of the main cast of the show Parks and Recreation reunited on the SAG-AFTRA picket line last week, including an appearance from Pawnee's favorite miniature horse Lil' Sebastian. DEADPOOL SPOILER According to a rumor reported by the DisInsider, pop star Taylor Swift will make an appearance in Deadpool 3 as the X-Men character Dazzler. In a Variety interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike,Sydney Sweeney confirmed she is playing Julia Carpenter a.k.a Spider-Woman in the upcoming Madame Web film.

It's the movie that's said to be the "greatest movie of all time"...the movie that "changes lives". It was the movie the world has waited years for. So, the Legendary Ladies wanted to know - was The Flash Movie really all that? Amy, Kat, and Morgan all saw the movie on opening weekend, then sat down to discuss their thoughts. They mulled over how nostalgia could change the interpretation of the film, how Grant Gustin's portrayal of The Flash on TV could affect the perception of Ezra Miller's Flash, and whether the oversaturation of superhero movies has caused so much fatigue that, even if a movie would otherwise be great, the bar is so high that it's impossible to meet.
