~ We had a last-minute cancellation for our guest this week, so… This morning, we decided to interview our moms instead. What we didn’t expect was how heartfelt these would be ...or that all three would make us teary-eyed. If you ever get the chance to ask your mom questions like this, we highly recommend it. News That Didn't Make the News: It's Mother's Day! and How to get out of a speeding ticket.
It's Mother's Day at TGS and 30 Rock, and due to NBC's decision to re-air the controversial show: Bitch Hunter. Naturally this creates a number of chaotic and outrageous scenarios for Liz and her crew.Jack's mother Colleen (Elaine Stritch) is in town and confirms that he's not only dating the niece of friend she knows, he's also dipping his wick in the company ink and learns of his relationship with Avery. Elsewhere, Liz's mother confesses to her that she gave up a chance to marry (Buzz Aldrin (assumingly her mother's "Astronaut Mike Dexter") but learns that may have been for the best. The rest of the TGS crew have their own mother's day antics to get into, so join Go To There as we dive into each one in this week's episode! As always, if you'd like to donate for production costs, website hosting, etc, hit up our Ko-Fi link to do so. And, subscribe and rate/review on Apple Podcasts to help us grow even further!

São Domingos de Rana, Portugal lockdown sound recorded by Leonor Carmo. "3rd of May, 2020. It's Mother's Day in Portugal. Three generations of women — grandmother (87), mother (60) and daughter (20) — share a mid-morning snack of espresso coffee (in beautiful Chinese porcelain cups) and Portuguese custard tarts in the backyard. The day feels strangely like summer: the birds are singing, the pool's vacuum is running, it's scorching hot at 11 o'clock in the morning and the shade is the only place where it's truly pleasant at the moment. My mum sets the parasol in place so my grandma won’t get sunburnt, as this is the first time she has left the house since quarantine began. The topic around the table is marriage and its passing. My grandmother lost her husband fifteen years ago and my parents got divorced in 2019, on New Year’s Eve." Ft. a special guest and very little talk of motherhood.
It's Mother's Day weekend and in celebration of all of our favorite women in our lives, our Mothers, we're taking on the 1988 "Flesh Eating Mothers". This rare low budget movie may be the perfect multi layered casserole of shit. Start with a base of awful production value, add on a layer of terrible writing and directing, pile on shitty special effects, and top with a thick layer of some of the worst acting ever caught on film. Bake at 450 for 90 minutes and enjoy.
It's Mother's Day again and honestly Matt-Man and Jayman have had about enough of this stupid made-up holiday. So, it's time to do something a little different. Oh we're still gonna celebrate the day, but we're going to do it by reading special Mother's Day posts we see on social media. The good, the bad, the ugly, and hopefully, the hilarious. We'll also have the phone lines open for anyone who would like to call and share a sweet or possibly crazy mom story or two. As always our Canadian Bureau Chief Jamie Mapleleaf will be here along with the IWS Players to add some charm to the proceedings. We'll have our usual witty banter, good and bad music, booze tasting and other shenanigans. So, if you want to do something REALLY SPECIAL for mom this Mother's Day you will treat her to an uninterrupted espisode of IWS Radio and even let her call in @ 661l.244.9852!

Lagging indicators measure outcomes. Things that have already happened. Leading indicators measure inputs so that we can try to impact outcomes before they happen. Appreciative Inquiry, because it focuses on a strength-based, positive approach to change in human-based systems can help us when we are working on developing leading indicators. It's Mother's Day 2018, which coincidentally falls on Top Gun Day. So in this episode, we get to hear a clip from Top Gun to have a better understanding of lagging indicators (High speed passes over 5 air control towers and 1 Admiral's daughter). To have me speak to your organization or help you with using Appreciative Inquiry to develop leading indicators, please visit www.crucialtalks.com. I'd love to hear from you!

It's Mother's Day weekend, so today's episode is devoted to our moms - Barb Osborne and Sylvia Ham! You can learn basic facts about them, as well as intricate details about their character, and how they have reacted to our being foster and adoptive parents. We are so very thankful for the incredible example that both of these women have set for us, as their kids; But also for their grandkids, and for all the many people that they come in contact with. There aren't any real show notes for today. I did say I was going to Google when my mom's birthday was on the Gregorian calendar, as opposed to the Lunar calendar (March 14). But it says it was April 29th, which means I missed my mom's birthday... The (Good) Word of the Day: "Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck." Proverbs 1:8-9 Our mothers have taught us so much, and the way that they love and serve others is something that we are trying to wear as a garland on our own heads. We truly hope that you have a wonderful day celebrating Mother's Day with people that you love, who have taught you many things, and who show you love. We know this is not a day that brings everyone happiness and gladness, and especially in foster care and adoption, there is a lot of pain and sadness involved. But we hope that even with sadness, that some joy may still coexist as well. Thanks for joining us for a very lighthearted episode of our podcast, and we hope you will tune in again next time!

It's Mother's Day. Time for a little peek behind the curtain. Swear word alert: I say the F word once and then repeat it a few more times when telling a story that involves a broken toe. If you are in the car with kids while listening, you may have to explain what that word means! I'm feeling emotional right now. Maybe because it's Mother's Day. Maybe because it's that time of month. Maybe because I'm so grateful just to be here. For whatever reason, I decided to share some thoughts on my journey into motherhood just before I turned 40.
It's Mother's Day! Have you called your mother? Have you vowed to her your unending quest to rebel and take over the planet for her? If not, you should. All she wants is to be the unquestioned overlord of Earth. Also, be prepared for this one to get weird. Because it gets weird. That's... really all we have to say about this one. It's Mother's Day, but for so many what makes a good woman, a good wife, and a good mother is determined by the world's standards, not God's. In this message Pastor Matt takes us to the preeminent text on biblical womanhood to challenge not just the modern thinking on women, but show us how biblical womanhood reflects the person, work, and glory of Jesus Christ.
It's Mother's Day, a day of celebration, appreciation, and joy. For some, this day brings sadness anger and mourning. Whatever your situation, keep God close for not only is God your Father, but your Mother in Heaven. God said, I am he and she...it was man who first referred to God as He and only He. Regardless, whether you are in celebration mode or in a space of sadness, let God enter that space with you and rejoice and heal..and be in God's Holy Presence.

It's Mother's Day and that means IWS Radio is here to celebrate everything good, bad and ugly about being a mommy. Matt-Man and Jayman are lucky in that they have (or had) great moms, but others aren't so lucky. Some moms are awful! Some are just okay. And some moms are HAWT! We'll break down what it takes to be a great mom and why so many fall short. Plus we'll check to see if being a "Mommy Blogger" is still a thing. Also, what about those stay-at-home moms? Is it REALLY as easy as it looks? Do they really just sit around all day eating Bon-Bons while watching Dr. Oz and Ellen? And let's not forget the Mommy Martyrs who can't do anything fun cause they have kids and can NEVER let those kids out of their sight or let someone else watch them for a while. Matt and Jay will break it all down for you. As always Canadian Bureau Chief Jamie Mapleaf and the IWS Players will be here to entertain everyone and comment on Mother's Day AND other big topics of the week. Like that pathetic slimeball loser Ted Cruz getting Schlonged by Donald Trump. And who knows what else we might come up with. All this and YOUR CALLS @ 661.244.9852!

We also check in this week with Sharon LaRue, executive director of Kentucky Foundation for Women. They're celebrating 30 years of promoting positive social change by supporting feminist art. Over the past three decades, they've awarded $9 million in 1,800 grants to women artists. In our Juicy Fruit segment this week, we talk about the media's use of soft language, like "officer-involved shooting," and how it affects public perception. We also briefly comment on the Bruce Jenner interview, and respond to the lawsuit that was filed against us (and all gay people), by one Sylvia Driskell of Nebraska.
