We've all been there, when a great idea turns out to be, well, not so great? We've all been there, right? That lightning bolt moment where we think, “This is it! This is the idea that's going to change everything.” And then reality sets in. To share her own “What Was I Thinking?” moment, I've invited my friend Jen Edds, the head brassy boss at Brassy Broadcasting Company. Jen had a vision of launching a daily podcast—short, punchy, and everywhere. But just before jumping in, she took a step back and asked herself the tough questions: Was this the right show? Was this sustainable? And most importantly, was this for her audience? What she discovered might just save you from your next over-ambitious content plan. So, grab a cup of coffee and get ready for some laughs, lessons, and a little tough love on making your marketing work for you. Key Takeaways: Just because an idea is exciting doesn't mean it's the right fit—evaluate sustainability before diving in. Content should serve your ideal audience, not just chase algorithms. Marketing your content is just as important as creating it—don't forget to promote! Be flexible! You can always pivot and adjust your content strategy as you learn more about what works. Whether you're launching a podcast, writing a blog, or creating video content, Jen's story is a reminder that strategy matters more than sheer volume. And sometimes, the best decision is to scale back before you burn out. Jenn Edds is the Head Broad in Charge at the Brassy Broadcasting Company

This week on The Mother Load, Lauren and Amy are joined by the amazing Kay McMahon-Boggess for an honest and thought-provoking conversation about life's toughest challenges and boldest dreams.
God didn't call you to play it safe; He called you to take risks. In today's episode, Chuck Ramsey will challenge you to shift your mindset and parent with a long-term vision. He'll inspire you to take bold steps and speak God's truth over your kids to help them reach their destiny. Key Takeaways Just like the architects and artisans who design cathedrals they will never see, your work as a parent will impact countless generations. Fatherhood is at the core of the universe. Living on the edge is your kingdom calling. Your words are like a hammer. Will they destroy your kids' hearts or be so constructive that it releases them into their God-ordained destiny? Chuck Ramsey Chuck Ramsey has been the lead pastor of Restoration Church since 2017. He and his wife, Candace, have seven children and five grandchildren. In his free time, Chuck loves long-distance running, snow skiing, and competitive basketball. Key Quotes 22:06 - "A father's mouth is the pharmacy for his family. A father's words can heal his wife, can build her up, can release things in his sons and daughters. Jesus taught out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. When a man says what God says over his children, that's a supernatural dimension that families, kids can enter into." 49:58 - "Jeremiah 9, God says, My word is like a hammer. Then He says, And I've broken your heart with my word. What God's saying I needed to tear down your heart so I can rebuild it. I've talked to men, make sure you understand, your words are like a hammer too. You can destroy, be destructive and crush your kids hearts or you can use those hammers, that word, and it can be so constructive. You can say things over your children that will release them into their destiny. I believe God's a powerful almighty God and He can deliver kids from all kinds of dysfunction. But if a dad will get on the same page with God, a dad can almost single handedly determine whether their child reaches their destiny or not. Now, can God repair a broken adult? Yes. But man, a healthy child that becomes a functional, healthy adult, the sky's the limit. And dads are the key there. How to Split a Toaster: A divorce podcast about saving your relationships
Splitting Assets in Divorce: More Than Just Breaking a Toaster in HalfIn this episode of How to Split a Toaster, divorce attorney Seth Nelson and Pete Wright tackle the thorny issue of dividing assets in divorce. As part of their P.E.A.C.E. Process mini-series, Seth and Pete break down what "equitable distribution" really means - and why it's about way more than just splitting everything 50/50.Seth and Pete walk through the four key steps of dividing assets: Identification (what stuff do we actually have?), Classification (whose stuff is it really?), Valuation (what's it worth?), and Distribution (who gets what?). They cover everything from basic bank accounts to complex business valuations, and even dive into some surprising assets you might not think about - like vacation days and airline miles. Along the way, they share real-world examples that show why "fair" in divorce court might not match your definition of fairness.Questions we answer in this episode:• How do you figure out what's "yours," "mine," and "ours" in a divorce?• What happens when one person tries to hide assets?• Can my ex get half my frequent flyer miles?Key Takeaways:• Just because something's in your name doesn't mean it's all yours• Personal goodwill (like your winning personality) isn't a marital asset• Sometimes arguing for "fairness" means you've already lostPlus, we tackle another listener question! A California resident asks about inherited money that got mixed into shared accounts and home purchases during marriage. Seth explains why following the money matters and how different states handle these situations differently (spoiler alert: location matters!).Whether you're facing divorce or just curious about how courts slice and dice assets, this episode breaks down complex legal concepts into bite-sized pieces. Seth and Pete take a practical approach to help make this topic both digestible and surprisingly engaging.Links & NotesSchedule a consult with SethGot a question you want to ask on the show? In this episode, Dr Dunni, an award-winning mom empowerment coach and family medicine doctor, shares an inspiring story about a seed that transforms its painful, dark experience into a journey of growth and fulfilment. Drawing parallels between the seed's struggle and the challenges mothers face, she emphasizes the importance of acknowledging feelings of darkness, shame, and pain as opportunities for introspection and personal development. Dr Dunni encourages mothers to communicate their emotions to their children, fostering an environment where both can learn to navigate difficult feelings together. KEY TAKEAWAYS Just like a seed that experiences darkness and discomfort before it grows, individuals, especially mothers, can find strength and potential in their challenging moments. Mothers need to communicate their feelings of pain, shame, or fear to themselves and their children. This openness helps children understand that it's okay to express their emotions and fosters a supportive environment for emotional growth. Mothers often prioritize the needs of their children over their own. Recognizing the importance of self-nourishment is crucial for personal well-being and enables mothers to be more present and engaged with their children. In times of loss or despair, it's essential to reflect on one's identity and potential. Understanding who you are beyond your roles and accomplishments can lead to deeper self-awareness and resilience. Children learn by observing their parents. By demonstrating how to process emotions and respond to challenges rather than react impulsively, mothers can teach their children valuable coping skills and emotional intelligence. BEST MOMENTS "In that cold, dark, uncomfortable situation, the seed started to cry out for help. But nobody heard it." "The richest place in the world is the graveyard. Why? Because a lot of people have died carrying a lot of potential to the graves with them." "When we are nourishing others, we feel replenished, we feel happy. But we have not placed as much value on nourishing ourselves." "Sometimes when people say, who are you, we start to think about all our qualifications and our accomplishments. But who are you talks about who you really are." "Every mom is a super mom, not because of the super things that she does, but because of the super powers she possesses within." In this episode, Dr. Dunni shares valuable insights on the importance of taking moments to switch off, unplug, and reconnect with oneself. Drawing parallels between troubleshooting mechanical devices and self-care, she emphasizes the significance of being present in the journey of life. Dr. Dunni discusses the power of breath in calming oneself and shares practical breathing exercises to release stress and ground emotions. KEY TAKEAWAYS Just like mechanical devices need to be switched off and restarted to function properly, mothers also need to take moments to unplug, withdraw, and retreat in order to recharge and be more effective. Avoid dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Embrace the present moment, enjoy the journey, and focus on personal growth and experiences. Deep breathing exercises can help in calming the mind, releasing stress, and grounding oneself. Breathing deeply and fully can have physiological and psychological benefits. Engage in self-development through reading books, listening to audiobooks, and seeking knowledge. Continuous learning equips individuals with skills and competencies to navigate challenges and thrive. Children observe and imitate their parents' behaviors and emotions. By practicing self-care, managing stress, and staying present, mothers can positively influence their children's emotional well-being and coping mechanisms. BEST MOMENTS "Living in the present, enjoying the journey, enjoying the process, helps us to be who we are." "Our response of fight, flight, freeze is so important. So we should make sure we pamper it, we thank it." "I'm sharing with you from the experience I had and from the pain I felt." "Your breath is such a gift. It's a gift of life. It's a gift of calm. It's a gift to unplug." "I remember when I heard the news of my father's passing, I was still breastfeeding my son." Should we, as consumers, be concerned about buying wines from regions which have experienced wildfires? Why does smoke taint intensify as a wine ages? How can wineries mitigate the risk of producing smoke-tainted wine? In this episode of the Unreserved Wine Talk podcast, I'm chatting with researcher Wes Zandberg. You can find the wines we discussed at https://www.nataliemaclean.com/winepicks Highlights Why does smoke taint show up differently in different wines despite the same level of exposure of the grapes? How can wineries mitigate the risk of producing smoke-tainted wine? Is there a health risk associated with wine made from smoke-exposed grapes? Why does smoke taint intensify with wine aging? Why does the perception of smoke taint become stronger with every sip? What are some similarities and differences between wildfire smoke exposure and the smoky aromas achieved with oak barrels? Are some grape varieties more susceptible to smoke taint than others? What are some of the main challenges in researching the effects of smoke exposure on wine? Were there differences between the wildfires in BC, California, and Australia wine country? Where is the current research focus for prevention and mitigation of smoke taint? How would routine testing of grapes in vineyards help researchers establish benchmarks for risk assessment? How could understanding more about the terroir of the air positively impact the wine industry? Key Takeaways Just because a wine region is experiencing wildfires or even smoke drift from fires farther away, it doesn't mean that the wine will be tainted. Smoke taint gets worse as wine ages because the wine develops new, more subtle tertiary aroma compounds which may be bolder. Australia has pioneered techniques such as making Rosé that's not fermented on skins where the taint is. Smoke taint is less problematic for white wine because it too isn't fermented on skins. Mario Pinto. Wes loved the rainy Fraser Valley so much that he remained at SFU, completing his post-doctoral research with Prof. David Vocadlo. This training instilled in Wes a fascination for glycoscience as well as a realization that the study of the structures/functions of carbohydrates (i.e. glycoscience) was—and still is—impeded by a dearth of suitable analytical tools and methods. Now, students in Wes' lab at devise glyco-analytical methods that actually work for real samples rather than off-the-shelf model systems. To learn more, visit https://www.nataliemaclean.com/292.
Curious about the Law of Attraction and manifestation techniques? Wondering how these practices can transform your life? Today, David Snyder shares his insights on harnessing the power of positive thinking, visualization, and practical manifestation strategies. Uncover the secrets to attracting abundance, success, and joy. Standout Quotes: •Your vibration frequency is analogous to the feeling our posture and our breathing control. •Once you understand the cycling process moving through these symbols that you've created, you cycle through them faster and faster and faster as you can. •The reason that we started with the clearing is to remember whether it's a fear of block or resistance. There's a location in the body where the feeling emanates from. Key Takeaways: •Just as your posture and breath influence your physical state, your vibration frequency echoes the harmony of your being. •Life's symbols are a dynamic cycle, a perpetual motion of your own creation. Understand the rhythm, and you unlock the power to navigate through them swiftly. •Clearing is the gateway to understanding the roots of fear and resistance. In this video, David Snyder will show the hypnosis process of releasing trapped emotions inside the body. He demonstrates the psychological tricks to remove negative emotions, such as fear, trauma, and anxiety, and replace them with satisfaction and fulfillment to change one's life. David also gives advice to his students to make the process effective. Tune in to learn about hypnosis, mind control, consciousness, relaxation, letting go of emotions, and more! Standout Quotes: ● “There are foundations that we have to have. We have to build tools to build the tools to build the tools. And if we don't have those, everything else is just pipe dreams and fantasies.” ● “As you go through this process, your body twitches and moves. And that's just the natural release of tension. The science of a body going through the stages of relaxation is to allow that process to take place.” ● “Feel that vitality flooding your mind, filling all those spaces with the things you most want, the things you most desire, the sensations, the feelings, the perceptions of yourself, the world, and everything in it that gives you the most satisfaction and fulfillment, making you feel strong, confident, worthy, deserving, and always good enough. Let those things fill you up.” ● “Keep it simple. If you don't get the big pieces, you'll never get the little pieces in.” ● “Within the gray room, anything goes. It's a staging area for any other process you want to do.” ● “You don't need to know what the shit is because a part of you always knows. And if it knows enough to generate a feeling and you can find the feeling, it knows what to do with it.” Key Takeaways: ● Just focus on the broader picture. When it's your turn to lead someone through hypnosis, offer them simple and straightforward instructions. Test to see that they've done it and move on. Trust the process. ● Twitches and subtle movements in the body are signs that it is going through the relaxation process. ● Your mind, body, and soul know what to do and how to do it. ● The hypnotist doesn't need to know what exactly the problem is because the human body knows what it is inherently. And if our body knows enough, it understands what to do with it. ● The more vague you make it, the faster it works. You can get specific if there are certain areas in patients you need to focus on. ● You can nest infinite gray rooms and go anywhere you want. In this episode, Lisa discusses the five questions:Does your college or university admit directly to the major, college, or division? Are there any majors that are restricted to first-year freshman applicants? If so, what are they? What is the process for changing majors within a college or division? And, are there any saturated majors where capacity is fairly limited? What is the process for changing majors between a college or division? For what majors is it difficult to graduate in four years if you do not start in that major as a freshman? Key Takeaways: Just because a college or university allows a change to your major does not mean the path is open for all applicants. There may be a process or the choices for majors to change into may be limited. The majors that the college is known for can be difficult to switch into at many schools. The real, average cost of the fifth year of college is over $68,000. Encourage your family to set your student up to finish within those four years. “You really need to be reading the fine print on these admission policies and understand the direction that your student is taking and the implications for that.” – Lisa Marker RobbinsEpisode References:College and Career Clarity Episode 57 - College Admission by Major with Andy BorstCollege and Career Clarity Episode 41 - Nursing Program Admissions with Jon RiceUpcoming College and Career Clarity Episode 79 - How to Build the Right College List for Engineering Majors with Jennifer StephanFree Video - https://www.flourishcoachingco.com/video Get Lisa's Free on-demand video: How-to guide for your teen to choose the right major, college, & career...(without painting themselves into a corner, missing crucial deadlines, or risking choices you both regret). https://courses.flourishcoachingco.com/howtoguideyourteen-free-trainingConnect with Lisa: Website: https://www.flourishcoachingco.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@flourishcoachingco Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/flourishcoachingco/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/flourishcoachingco LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/lisa-marker-robbins/

Work and home life are not two distinct worlds. Despite the concept of work-life balance, they are inextricably intertwined. What’s happening at home often affects us at work, and vice versa. While we can’t close off those two worlds from each other, there are practices we can put in place to help us process personal situations and still show up to work as our best selves. Today’s guest is Andrea Liebross. Andrea is a coach, speaker, podcast host, and soon to be published author who is known for helping bold, ambitious women make clear, confident decisions, so that they get exactly what they want, every time, and not just add another thing to their to-do list. Over the last few decades, Andrea has started three successful businesses and ultimately became a certified business and life coach. Andrea and I talk about how to leave the stress of home at home. We get into strategies for helping yourself and your team better manage through stressful times, collaborate and support each other, and show up as your best selves. To shift from ‘Stuck Stress’ to ‘Productive Stress’, become solution focused. Stop worrying about what might happen that you don’t have control over and instead focus on what you can do. Share the facts and frame your experience by including the negative and positive parts of the stressful situation. Sharing what’s going on for us takes out the drama of coworkers guessing what’s going on. We tend to make up stories or assumptions to explain behavior which often is incorrect and has negative consequences.

Welcome to Building Brand You™, the podcast that helps you accelerate your success by unlocking your greatest asset – you. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Just like the river, our flow creates the conditions for our richness and our nourishment. And that is what allows us to embed our mark and leave our legacy. A delta is not created by stopping the flow. The riches do not happen where the river is stagnant, nor do the riches happen when the flow is too fast or exposed to the elements. What goes in must come out somewhere, and where it comes out we could call our delta and the new path that the river forges, that you forge. Take action, make some of those changes and see what happens when you are intentional about flow. Why should we use our credit cards to our advantage rather than let banks and credit card companies take advantage of us? Even though most people avoid talking about credit cards and scores, we're going to dispel some myths today that we've long held. If you think you need to be flying first class for you to learn from this episode, then you are mistaken. Making your credit card work for you is a big life win, whether you're putting fuel in your car, buying groceries, or paying bills. Tune in as our friend Jamie McMahon educates us on credit card numbers. Discover how responsibility can lead to real success. Jamie McMahon is a firefighter at the same station where Aaron works. After graduating college and spending his life in the Midwest, he moved to the East Coast. During the Great Recession of 2008, there was a downturn in the Midwest job market; cities were bankrupt, laying off people. He discovered credit cards' rewards system and point system while seeking a job in Washington, DC, in 2016. A total of 21 cards have been issued to him to date, each with a different score. During this episode, Jamie explains how credit cards and credit scores work to make them work for the user's benefit, not the lender's. Why you need to check today's episode: Find out how to use your points in accordance with the 5/24 and 1/5 rules; Understand how to get the most out of your credit card and your credit score; and Understand that credit cards aren't only for people who fly first class, but for anyone spending money or consuming goods “My option may not be the answer for everyone, and that's okay. You may want to go down a different route. There are routes out there for everyone.” – Jamie McMahon Topics Covered: 1:08 – “This is how I reward myself and my family. Just doing a little bit of research and making your credit cards work for you, basically.” The story of Jamie's foray into the points game for credit cards and using a credit card to maximize your rewards 09:30 – “It's not a scam. It's a real thing. People really do this.” Talking about how hesitant people are regarding conversations about this kind of stuff. Discussion around credit card myths 10:21 – “Just because you create a hard inquiry on your credit report doesn't mean it's a very negative thing at all. It only lasts for a couple of months, and then your credit score goes up if you're responsible.” Myth #1: Checking your credit score will hurt your credit. What is a hard inquiry? What is a soft inquiry? 12:24 – “It just takes a little bit of effort on your part to look into what's in the fine print…” Myth #2: There's only one single credit score. What are the three different credit bureaus? What is your FICO score? 17:14 – “You don't want to close your credit card at all… The longer you have a credit history, the better.” An overview of Chase Bank's engagement rules and why people should start with them. What factors determine your credit score? 25:41 – “They have a higher percentage fee in order to have their product in their store…” American Express's 1/5 rule: what does it mean? How do American Express cards benefit you, and why should you own one? 35:21 – “All they want to know is which card/s you have, and then they apply it to what's the best for your buck.” CardPointers and Travel Freely apps make it easy to know which cards offer what benefits and how to keep track of them. 40:04 – “So by the time he's responsible at the age of 16 or 18, he's able to come out the gate with a decent credit score.” Kids' credit cards and making them authorized users: Why should you give your family members credit cards so they can build their credit? 43:25 – “I stayed at the room using their Freenet certificate that was issued by that card which cost the retail price over $1,200. Look at the value I got out of that…” Why should you pay attention to the annual fees? 45:12 – “If it were me just starting out, I'd most definitely go with the transferable points option…” Answering Aaron's question – do credit cards share points? 49:01 – “Using your points and miles for concert tickets and/or Amazon gift cards, stuff like that, is not a great option.…” A quick recap on the points discussed today and where to best use your credit miles. 52:09 – “I use it as much as I could. I think the Platinum is one of my favorites.…” How Mike and Tyler use their credit cards, as well as how Jamie double dips with his card 59:42 – “What the Fed is doing directly affects your credit history…” Seeing low APR cars: All-time or just introductory rate low? 1:04:00 – “There are other ways out there to redeem or to get cash back and your miles…” Which other websites or podcasts would Jamie recommend checking out? 1:11:32 – “My option may not be the answer for everyone, and that's okay. You may want to go down a different route. There are routes out there for everyone.” Words of wisdom from Jamie McMahon 1:12:34 – “Don't use your points and miles for magazine subscriptions. Look at those transferable miles. If you're going to start out with a credit card style, start out with Chase immediately. Always start with them if you're looking at the 5/24 status…” Here's some parting advice for this episode's listeners Key Takeaways: “Just because you create a hard inquiry on your credit report doesn't mean it's a very negative thing at all. It only lasts for a couple of months, and then your credit score goes up if you're responsible.” – Jamie McMahon. “If you have a score between 750 and 850, your rates are not going to be any different. Once you're in that excellent range, the bank isn't gonna look at you any different. They're gonna give you the same, best rate possible. Kudos to those guys who have a score of 800, but once you reach about 750 or so, you're good to go.” – Jamie McMahon “Using your points and miles for concert tickets and/or Amazon gift cards, stuff like that is not a great option. It's not the best use of your miles. You're not getting the best bang for your points when you use it for that type of thing. They're best used in transferring to all those different airlines and our hotel partners that we talked about earlier.” – Jamie McMahon. “Don't use your points and miles for magazine subscriptions. Look at those transferable miles. If you're going to start out with a credit card style, start out with Chase immediately. Always start with them if you're looking at the 5/24 status.” – Jamie McMahon. Often we don't notice it, but as leaders taking on varied roles in one's personal and professional life, we find ourselves hearing and not listening. When we truly dial into our listening intelligence, that's when it strengthens connections and improves relationships that reinforce the human capacity for positive societal change. Ebele Chukwujama is a Chief Executive with 22 years of progressive experience in Banking, Consulting, and Human Development. Amongst her numerous leadership positions, she was the Division Lead – Aviation Group within the Corporate Banking Division of Zenith Bank Plc. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Aloeglobal Lifestyle and Wellness Services and also Chief Executive Officer of Poise Nigeria Limited, Nigeria's Premier Personality Branding, and Communication Company. She is a certified coach with Olusola Lanre Coaching Academy, a member of the John Maxwell Team, and the founder of The Listening School, the very first in Africa. The Listening School is a disruptive start-up on a mission to revolutionize human connection, promote real-time problem solving, increase individual productivity, and ultimately improve business processes by building a culture of listening that will help develop more productive, effective workforces and bottom line, leveraging the art of listening intelligence. The Listening school wants to impact relationships and society, one listening ear at a time. In this episode, Ebele shares how we can overcome just ”hearing” the other person and instead truly exercise listening, putting aside all biases, and coming in with an attitude of curiosity. That way, we give people a sense of respect and self-worth, making them matter in society. "It's powerful when we listen; it makes people feel valued, respected and gives a sense of dignity and a sense of self-worth." - Ebele Chukwujama Listen IN Notes: 00:32 - The moment Ebele noticed the power of listening: In my previous role as a CEO of a consulting company we offered speaking, writing, and all of that. And it occurred to me that we didn't offer listening, and I'm like, 'Oh, wow.' Then I went deeper into research. And I realized that listening is the incontrovertible half of communication. And it just hit me." 01:10 - What is it about that moment that hit her: "I thought, I hadn't even been listening. I have just been hearing. And you know, hearing isn't listening." 02:36 - One important thing she's realized now about listening: "When you say I hear you, you're not listening, and that you can't multitask." 02:58 - The impact listening is making in her life: "I realized that a lot of my time and attention, it's paying off my relationships with people, my interactions with my children, and society. 03:56 - Message to other CEOs and leaders: "Just listen, there's something deep inside each of us that yearns for attention." 05:03 - Initiatives she helps promote in the listening school she manages: "We facilitate listening intelligence as part of a leadership strategy, we help people enhance relationships, promote real-time problem solving and productivity." 06:43 - Knowing that everything is in alignment even with people listening and understanding things in different ways 08:18 - Overcoming the biases we have for the people we engage to listen to: "When you're coming to a listening engagement, I feel the listener or the leader has to have a curious mindset. That means you're dropping all biases." 09:17 - Advice to leaders who are too busy: "80% of your time is devoted to listening as a leader. If 80% of your work day is devoted to listening, then you must make time to listen." 10:01 - Leaders learning how to practice listening: "Self-awareness is mastery." 11:17 - Checking out and checking back into the conversation: "Use powerful, open-ended questions to get back into the conversation." 12:58 - Becoming aware of the different cultures and languages: Culture is complex and influences people in many different ways. However, generally speaking, our culture influences the way that we think and express our feelings, which can create barriers to communication." 14:41 - What's in store for the Listening School: "I'm committed to impacting relationships and society." 15:26 - Not interrupting but continuing to listen even when you get bored 18:16 - An experience of how curiosity and not interrupting significantly impacted her. 22:19 - Ebele shares great tips on being self-aware and conscious of listening. Key Takeaways: "Just be present and pay attention." - Ebele Chukwujama "Do not multitask while you're listening." - Ebele Chukwujama "Listen to understand and not to respond." - Ebele Chukwujama "Ask open-ended questions. Listening is a gift to the speaker. Together, we can impact our relationships and society while listening one ear at a time." - Ebele Chukwujama "I have watched many times the transformation that takes place when someone finally has the opportunity to be listened to. Practice makes improvement." - Ebele Chukwujama "Having that curious mind that no matter what it is, by going into a meeting, there's something everyone has to share with me. Because that's where you have the growth mindset because we learn and we grow daily." - Ebele Chukwujama Connect with Ebele Chukwujama: Website: www.thelisteningschool.com Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/company/the-listening-school/ Connect with Raquel Ark: www.listeningalchemy.com Mobile: + 491732340722 contact@listeningalchemy.com LinkedIn
You have made it all the way to the last of the Hero's Journey series. Be proud of what you've accomplished, of who you have become. As you near the end of this quest, there are a handful of things you'll want to be aware of before you return and prepare to make your new habits stick in your old world. In fact, there are three things, specifically, that you'll want to expect. The first is about the fact that you're different now, and other people may not like it. But! Nothing is going wrong in this sense. To address this discord, I'll walk you through how to help them to get used to the new person you've become organically. The second thing to expect: understand that old habits will come calling. And they may even be tempting. Stick to your guns. Lastly (don't feel embarrassed about this), be prepared with the notion that you may now start to become the mentor for someone else. I speak personally when I say that there is nothing more rewarding. In truth, your life, your Hero's Journey, is constantly evolving, and not because of fear. Tune in with me today to talk about how it can all come out of a place of joy and abundance. Remember, my friends, that no matter the area you made that change in your life, your personal and entrepreneurial lives are not exclusive. I am so, so proud of who you've decided to become. Get ready for your next adventure. 3 Key Takeaways Just because humanity's natural response to your change in personality is awkward, doesn't mean that your friends and loved ones won't adjust. Progress is life. Be prepared to become the mentor for others. Your leadership often inspires self reflection, be it good or jealous. For the good, you have a lot of rewarding wisdom to offer. Returning to the place where you began your journey tends to invite old habits. Don't listen to them. If you can expect that, avoiding the temptation to relapse will be far easier. In today's episode, we are joined by Dwayne King who works at the intersection of experience transformation, human-centered innovation, UX design & research. His unique view of organizations has allowed him to diagnose the real reasons 90% of innovation labs fail. Tune in to learn how to lead the other 10% and set your innovators up for success. IN THIS EPISODE: [04:40] Pursuing the wrong idea can be one of the key elements why your innovation efforts might fail right at the beginning. [08:12] Companies no longer need to stay within their category. Dwayne shares an example of a company that successfully expanded out of its category. [15:08] Two important elements of design thinking that need to be considered during the innovation process. [22:00] Common funding mistakes that most companies make right off the bat. [26:09] Three challenges that companies face when transitioning from an innovation experiment into a full-blown product. [34:12] Importance of structuring innovation teams for success. [40:20] Why product managers might not be as successful on an innovation team. [44:43] How lack of the leadership and culture to support innovation within an organization sabotages innovation. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Just because there's a problem to solve, it doesn't mean that it's your problem to solve. Stop making big bets and instead make smart bets by starting with the right insights and design thinking. Transition through innovation stages consciously and ensure that the right teams, technology, and investments are in place at each phase. Build a well-rounded and empowered innovation team and oversight board. Slapping titles and labels on these things does not make them a reality. Foster a culture of innovation from the top all the way down. Innovation only happens in an organization that is primed to incubate and embrace innovation. LINKS MENTIONED: Dwayne's LinkedIn Profile BIO: Dwayne King Dwayne built his career at the intersection of experience transformation, human-centered innovation, UX design & research. Joe Woodard's vision is to "transform small businesses through small business advisors." And in the service of that vision, he and his team educate, coach, provide resources and build communities for small business advisors, with the overarching goal of empowering them to play a powerful, high-impact advisory role with their clients. In this episode, Joe shares how you can create product differentiation that provides maximum pricing leverage where people lean in to the product's value more than the price. Why you have to check out today's podcast: Find out the key factors that create pricing leverage Find out how to make your services or products more valuable Learn how to truly get differentiated from among the rest of your competitors "Well, I'm going to restate something I've already said: Be unlike everybody else. But I'm going to state something I haven't stated before: Make sure you over-manage your brand because you could be unlike everybody else, and nobody knows it." - Joe Woodard Topics Covered: 01:50 - Talking about classical Greek 02:40 - Coaching business with a pricing attitude 06:40 - Getting rid of clients you don't want to work with and keeping the ones you want 11:18 - How 'relationship work' gets the highest capacity yield off the least valuable clients 12:34 - Leveraging your unique knowledge or skill to add value to your client 18:39 - Product differentiation: flat fee versus hourly pricing 25:59 - Is it impossible to get accountants to coach their clients on price and what are they capable and very good at doing 28:46 - Joe's pricing advice that can create a significant impact on one's business Key Takeaways: "Just because you're valuable and essential, though, doesn't mean that that creates pricing leverage. You must also be differentiated and unique, and ultimately you must be wealth-generating." - Joe Woodard "To have an empowerment impact on small business, they must be healthy themselves, and health naturally involves healthy pricing." - Joe Woodard “Their problem is they're underpricing because they're penalizing their own efficiency. So, you're benefiting from the fact that they're penalizing themselves. And as long as that exists in the space, and it's going to exist in the space pervasively that people are flattening it out to increase efficiencies and gross profit margin, you are not going to be able to compete on price. So, the only way to get out of that trap for you, as the client and them as the professional is to not offer flat fee services, but instead to offer subscription services.” - Joe Woodard People/ Resources Mentioned: Ron Baker: https://impactpricing.com/podcast/ep44-ronald-j-baker-trash-the-timesheet-exploring-opportunities-in-subscription-businesses/ Xero: https://www.xero.com/ Sage: https://www.sage.com/en-us/ Intuit: https://www.intuit.com/ H&R Block: https://www.hrblock.com/ Liberty Tax: https://www.libertytax.com/ Tax Slayer: https://www.taxslayer.com/ Turbo Tax: https://turbotax.intuit.com/ Connect with Joe Woodard: Website: https://www.woodard.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/quickbooksadvisor/ Connect with Mark Stiving: Email: mark@impactpricing.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stiving/

In this broadcast, you'll hear about the importance of your skin's microbiome, which protects you from foreign invaders and pathogens. You'll also discover ways to take excellent care of it to provide you with moist, flexible and nourished skin. Get all the immunity boosting tips here: https://scientifichealer.com/immune Standout Quotes: "Your skin is your largest organ. It provides the barrier between you and the outside world, and it's the first thing that people see when they look at you. It protects you; it keeps out most invaders, and it projects your current state of health." "If your skin looks good, you'll feel good about yourself. If your skin has problems, then you'll feel shame and embarrassment such that you'll isolate yourself, and those with severe issues can be outcasts or stigmatized." "Individuals with visible challenges face a steep mountain to climb to embrace themselves for who they are, which in turn helps other people accept them for who they are. And there are numerous other issues such as acne, eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis, and your skin will communicate what is going on within your body." "What happens when you're stressed is all the tiny muscles in our face will pull tight and create wrinkles. You might develop deep lines around your mouth or between your eyes, for example. " "Your skin has its own microbiome. This microbiome helps your skin in ways you probably don't realize, and for the most part, it stays stable for most of your life unless you disrupt it." "The damage to your skin microbiomes on your hands can also disrupt the gut, and vice versa. A healthy skin microbiome promotes a healthy gut microbiome. So they play hand in hand, but they are separate." "If you have any gum irritation in your mouth, which might develop if you have pockets. you have to floss well every day. If you use a toothpaste with SLS or sodium lauryl sulfate, it'll contribute to the irritation." Key Takeaways: Just taking care of your skin is a common approach. When you include other lifestyle adjustments together with energy healing, improvements in your health and well-being will accelerate. They have a multiplicative effect. Your skin is composed of three layers. 1. The epidermis is the top layer; it is the sealed outer covering, preventing your fluids seeping out and pathogens leaking in. 2. The dermis, a layer of stiff connective tissue beneath pulled together with collagen, contains your hair follicles, your sweat and oil glands, and nerve endings. 3. The third layer is composed of fat and connective tissue, where the subcutaneous fat is located. Exercise helps promote circulation, which subsequently aids the skin in excreting pollutants. Apart from consuming plenty of water, which firms and hydrates the skin, some supplements benefit the skin. Antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamins A, B, E, zinc, and fatty acids are beneficial supplements. Evening primrose, primrose oil, basil, and turmeric are beneficial for aging skin, eating more collagen with higher acid content. Whole organic foods rather than processed foods are wholesome for maintaining good skin health, especially vitamins from dark leafy greens such as kale, spinach, and collards Deep breathing and meditation are beneficial release nervous energy. When you enter a parasympathetic state, when your adrenal glands are dormant, your tiny muscles in your skin relax. You appear ten years younger Toxins will collect in your body if you overwhelm your body's detoxification processes, including the skin. Minimize your exposure by eating organic, using healthy personal care products and clean your environment of toxins. Antibacterial products are detrimental to all microorganisms, not just the pathogenic ones. Minimize their use. If you work in an environment with bathrooms, bring your bar of conventional soap and wash your hands for about 20 seconds instead of purchasing antibacterial soap. It will remove the majority of infections from your hands, about 99.9 percent. The balance of bacteria and other microscopic life is disrupted with all those antibacterial products, increasing your susceptibility to germs and maybe contributing to the flare-ups of rosacea, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and acne. To encourage a healthy skin microbiome, begin by balancing your gut microbiota. If you have candida overgrowth, follow a sugar-free diet, including all fruit, starchy vegetables, grains, and dairy products. There are numerous methods for de-stressing that do not require changing your life circumstances, including deep breathing, meditation, stretching, and yoga. Many of the skin disorders associated with disordered microbiota can be resolved by stress reduction. Quite a few skin products are quite acidic. Purchase pH-balanced soaps, as conventional soap, was created from lye and was extremely basic. While your skin and hair prefer a somewhat acidic pH, pH balancing helps maintain a neutral pH. Tip: Many skincare products, particularly organic ones, have preservatives to prevent them from going bad after a while. When you use something like a skin cream for an extended period, you dip your fingers in it, and if it doesn't contain preservatives, it begins to rot. Shaa talks to Calum Simpson, an Empowered alumni. They discuss his personal journey, which has seen him overcome both physical and health challenges. How these have impacted him, and why resilience is such an essential factor in all areas of life. KEY TAKEAWAYS Just because others try to pigeonhole you, or think you incapable of achieving things, it should never limit your potential. When we persevere at something for a long time, we lose sight of the incremental progress we are making. Reflection is essential to recognise the breadth of our journey. Having a plan, a focus, a goal, is crucial in instilling a sense of resilience. If we face setbacks, we should focus on this future goal and remember our purpose in endeavour. Always embrace self-control, even in the moments where we feel ourselves losing grip on our emotions. In the end, the greatest damage we do by losing control is to ourselves. BEST MOMENTS 'Mental health is something we should talk about every day, not just once a year' 'If you really want something, you do anything you want' 'Quick fixes aren't going to get you anywhere' 'Don't ever say you can't do something unless you've tried it' VALUABLE RESOURCES Building A Bigger Table Podcast - https://omny.fm/shows/building-a-bigger-table Calum SImpson Facebook - www.facebook.com/cscoachingservices Calum Simpson Instagram – www.instagram.com/exerciseandmentalhealthcoach MEET YOUR HOST Hi, I'm Shaa. Stephen has interviewed guests including Jeremy Corbyn and the Compton-based (former gang members) owners of Trap Kitchen. KEY TAKEAWAYS Just ask - you have nothing to lose by asking. Podcasting gives you the chance to talk to people you would not otherwise get to connect with. When you let your guests be themselves you get magical moments. Podcasting showcases others, but it is also a great way to boost your reputation. Sometimes guests are going to say yes, but let you down, you need to be ready for that. Set your big goals 5 years out, then set smaller realistic goals to get you there. 109: 21 Lessons On Launching An International Platform And Make It Profitable Part 2Welcome to today's episode! The part 2 of 21 Lessons from launching Soul Rich Woman and many other launches. (1:25-11:44) Number 11. Now, LAUNCH RESISTANCE IS REAL. Now, everyone experiences it so the fact that if you have resistance, people have resistance signing up for your programs, products, or your services doesn't mean that you're not meant to launch.(1:54-2:09) There are a lot of resistance. People ask questions, funny questions, weird questions, interesting questions, you know. Don't take it as a sign to stop. Just keep going even though people are resisting.(2:40-3:03) Number 12. REFUNDS WILL HAPPEN. They are a business right of passage and are inevitable. Do not stress about it. Doesn't mean when people ask for a refund, you are not good or you are lousy because everyone get refund request all the time.(3:41-3:49) So celebrate the wins and focus on that rather than celebrating and focusing on the negative, right?(3:50-4:03) 13. PEOPLE WILL STEAL YOUR STUFF. Now don't stress too much about protecting all your IP. I mean, some people will join, competitors will join, and steal your stuff(4:07-4:26) I mean get legal on them if you need to put Terms & Conditions in place. Don't hide for fear that this will happen. Now, this is pretty rare and lots of people will miss out on your goodness if you let the fear of all these copycats stop you from launching.(4:27-4:30) Number 14. PEOPLE WILL UNSUBSCRIBE. (4:33-4:35) Unsubscribes will go up during a launch.(4:47-4:53) And when I launch Soul Rich Woman there were unsubscribes because maybe it's not relevant to them. (4:55-5:13) That's okay because we can't just hold on to the people forever. I mean people's needs and people's seasons will change, right? It's nothing personal. Just turn off those unsubscribe notifications and celebrate for those who stay on your list.(5:18-5:30) Number 15. PEOPLE WILL GET PISSED OFF BY WHAT YOU'RE SELLING. Now people will get irrationally angry that you're selling something even if you're giving away 90% of your stuff for free. (5:31-5:56) I am a true-blue experiencer for that. That's why I have to tell you this. It sucks, okay? And it hurts. I already did 3,000 episodes of Facebook live- FREE, content that I teach and share my knowledge. And then people get angry about the stuff that we are selling, right? But you know what? It's okay for you to make money from your business. If people don't like it, they don't buy it, that's okay.(6:03-6:22) Number 16. PLAN BUT NOT TOO MUCH. Don't get caught up in creating the perfect planning spreadsheet or that perfect launch spreadsheet. You know what? A simple google document to-do list will do just fine. Action beats perfect planning every time. (6:38-6:41) Number 17. YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO IMPLEMENT EVERYTHING. (6:42-6:46) What is on the paper and what is in your head sometimes, don't get translated out to reality.(6:48-6:56) You can just keep a file of ideas for next time. Okay? You won't be able to implement everything this time but it's handy to keep it in one place so you remember. (7:28-7:38) Even though you won't be able to implement everything now, you will still be able to implement something especially after more experiences accumulated.(7:38-7:47) Number 18. INCENTIVIZE AND SUPPORT YOUR AFFILIATES. I'm a true believer of affiliates or what we called associates partners (7:50-8:04) Because they will help you to sell more because you are also leveraging on their audience. But it takes work to support them. Like you need to increase your customer service capabilities because your affiliates will have a lot of questions. (8:38-8:56) I don't assume that they know how to become an affiliate of Soul Rich Woman or an associate partner of Soul Rich Woman and EduPac. You have to spell it out, literally. Like how to log in, how to use your affiliate links, how to market well, how to even talk about your program. (9:14-9:19) You will also attract different types of affiliates depending on the price of your program. (9:32-9:37) And people love competitions so have a sales or a leads competition.(9:56-9:58) Launching- don't do it alone.(10:02-10:18) Number 19. MINDSET, MINDSET, MINDSET. I worked through so many blocks during the launch. Book in with your mentor to smash through the blocks. Talk to your mastermind everything you need to keep your vibration high.(10:18-10:33) 20. MISTAKES ARE INEVITABLE AND VERY VERY VALUABLE. You are going to make mistakes, I confirm and I guarantee that. And that's fine because each time you launch you're going to get better and better. Each time you launch you're going to build on the next level of success. (10:34-10:37) Number 21. DON'T COMPARE. Everyone starts from zero.(10:56-11:03) We all start somewhere, alright? Don't assume that everyone has seen your stuff. Launch it again!(11:05-11:10) I hope that you are ready for your next step. I really admit that.Key Takeaways: Just keep going. Action beats perfect planning every time. Launching- don't do it alone. Don't compare Plan but not too much. Business Unveiled: Expert Tips and Secrets from Top Creative Industry Professionals
If you’ve already looked at our guest today, you might be thinking this is my sister because we share the same last name. Well, she is not my sister. I didn’t even know she existed until just recently, but I’m so glad I know her now! Her name is Krystal Proffitt, and she knows so much about podcasting from her experiences helping people create their own. So if you are interested in starting a podcast, this episode is for you! The podcast world has really taken off, so you may wonder if it’s too crowded for you to join in. Though there are so many talented people doing podcasts, it’s not as crowded as you may think. If you choose a topic for your podcasts that is too broad, then yes, it will be over-crowded. If you get very specific, however, there will be an audience for you and, surprisingly, more success. Speak to a very specific audience, and you’ll find that that audience actually exists outside of your mind. Getting started is always the hardest part. There are two things that people usually get hung up on. One of them is that they are afraid that they’ll sound stupid. This is natural: no one likes the sound of their own voice. Krystal suggests that you practice talking to yourself so that you can get comfortable with your own voice. The other issue people have is that they don’t have a plan. Nothing gets done if you don’t have a plan! So to get started, practice speaking and start planning. Sometimes you might not even know what to talk about, but Krystal has some brainstorming ideas for you. Start with answering the questions you get asked the most. Then, create podcasts on all of the stuff you already know. Get that easy stuff out of the way first before you start diving into research topics. As you get established, choose topics that will lead you towards your goal, whatever that is. Podcasts are a great way to connect with people. If you, like me, want to make a difference in the lives of other people, then a podcast is a great place to start! It’s amazing how much influence your voice can have on your audience. It can be a point of connection between you and your audience. If you want to know more about podcasting, listen to this episode. Check in again next week for even more tips and tricks! Main Topics: Is the podcast world overcrowded? Getting Started Brainstorming Ideas Key Takeaways: “Just keep trying, keep exploring those voices that say ‘Hey! Try me!’...because you’ll be very surprised at what you’ll find out about yourself.” “The most important thing is to figure out who you want to talk to.” “There is nothing wrong with your voice. You sound just fine, and there are people out there that need to hear the messages that you have.”
In this episode, Christina Martini and Rhiannon Rees discuss: Teaching and working with people from all walks of life. Working on yourself to find freedom in all other aspects of life. Change coming from adversity. Fostering goodness every single day. Key Takeaways: Just because you don’t believe, doesn’t mean it isn’t real. Keep your mind open to more possibilities than you know now. Self-worth equals net worth. We are creatures of habit - it is when life is not good that we are forced to do something about the things that were simmering under the surface and we were ignoring before. Life is about enjoying this moment and this day as nobody knows what is on the horizon. What's the deal with famous Billionaires giving away with their inheritance? Donating money to charity is not a bad thing, but it can damage your legacy if it forces your children to start over. In today's episode, I discuss the trend of multiple billionaires leaving their inheritance to charity and bypassing their children. I rant about how "giving back" seems honorable but it holds the wrong thought around money. It implies that in order to get ahead someone had to lose. As a parent, a large portion of your life purpose is to create a foundation for the next generation to build upon. The purpose of life and wealth is to make the world a better place for future generations, but what are we saying about our children when we trust non-profits to make the world a better place instead of trusting our children? Key Takeaways: Just because someone has a lot of money doesn't mean they know what to do with it as an inheritance Why I think these billionaires lack personally responsibility when they give away their fortunes God's perspective on wealth and legacy What to do when our children waste their inheritance and still need help Additional Resources: Check out my free life coaching resource, the Life Purpose Roadmap PDF, and learn how to prosper in your purpose.
In this episode, Jim Oliver, D. Chad and Gavin Clark discuss: Off-market real estate investment and building generational wealth. Establishing an entrepreneurial attitude, regardless of age. The importance of serving others by sharing your financial security. Key Takeaways: Just as in banking, using only traditional approaches to real estate investing will cause you to miss the best opportunities. You’re not too young, or too old, to shift your thinking about wealth building, start establishing financial security, and break away from the herd. Passive income wealth can not only support your lifestyle, but can be used to enrich the lives of others. "You don’t rise to the situation, you fall back to your preparation." - Jim Oliver fef

On this Passion To Purpose episode, Karen talks to magazine owner/publisher and podcast host Joe Baya. Joe has turned his passion for hunting deer and turkeys in the woods and fishing for Cobia in the Gulf of Mexico into a business, growing brand, and a career. Joe publishes Great Day Outdoors magazine, he hosts and produces the Alabama Saltwater Fishing Report and The Northwest Florida Fishing Report podcasts (and more). Plus, he has taken his knowledge of the great outdoors and experience to be a rural land specialty realtor that helps others find and sell rural land for hunting needs, investment opportunities, and country living with National Land Realty. Joe will give us some tips and the steps he took (and is using now) to take what he loves to do to build a multi-tiered media and marketing empire. Key Takeaways - Just because you're passionate about something, it doesn't mean that it will be a good business idea or concept. - If you're thinking about a startup or buying an existing business, you want to look for something ubiquitous, and you can use technology to bring it into this day and age. - Podcasts will become the third-largest search engine. - Your marketing cannot be so solely focused on one particular media channel or platform. - Find your "why" before you create and invest in a product or career. - Look for the right mentors for advice and proof of concept. Cheers To: The best marketing is getting in front of the people that are looking for your product when they're looking for it, whether they know it or not. - Joe Baya My prediction is that over the next five to 10 years, you're going to see podcasts become the third largest search engine. - Joe Baya You've got to look at the era in which we're living; magazines are not what they used to be. It doesn't mean that the written word is dying. Now you've got so many different options. - Joe Baya If you find the need, then you can have a business if you price it right. - Karen Simmons Learn More About DocRX DocRx is a family-oriented company dedicated to tailor operational solutions for patient health and compliance programs that increases the quality and efficiency of patient-centered care and always with the mission of the patient's health 1st. A low-alcohol, Keto-friendly wine that doesn’t leave you feeling worse for the wear sounds like something from your dreams. I’m joined by Todd White of Dry Farm Wines to talk about Natural Wine production and why it’s the best wine for you to drink. About Todd White Todd White is a serial entrepreneur and creator since the age of 17. Today, after 15 years in the wine business, he dedicates his life to educating and helping people make better choices about food, nutrition, and how they think about consuming alcohol. As the founder of Dry Farm Wines, a writer, speaker, and a leader in the organic/Natural Wine movement, he has widely educated communities on conscious consumption. Todd is deeply passionate about bringing people together to share love and laughter through Natural Wine and the health benefits it provides. Todd is a self-described biohacker who practices daily meditation, Wim Hof breathing, cold thermogenesis, a ketogenic diet, and daily 22-hour intermittent fasting. Todd explains the difference between most wines, Natural Wine, and organic wine is. You might be surprised to learn that while all Natural Wine is organic, not all organic wine is natural. The Wine Industry’s Dirty Little Secrets Todd also lets us in on the dirty little secrets of the wine industry. Just like so much of the food produced in America, wine production is basically a factory production: the more wine you can produce, the better, regardless of quality. This looks like irrigating the grape crops, which Todd says actually produce a better flavor without excessive watering, adding chemicals to the production process, and creating wines that, honestly, all just taste so similar. Because wine is naturally colorless, I asked Todd what causes the wine to have different pigmentation. We all love a glass of good red wine! Todd explains the process of adding color to wine and gives us his opinion on whether this is healthy or not. He also lets us know why menopausal women don’t tolerate red wine as well as white wine. It all comes down to the production process and additives that go into creating that gorgeous ruby red color. Finally, we talk about the sugar content of wine and why sulfur is used in most wines, even Natural Wine. Most wine has an alarmingly high sugar count, but we just don’t know because there’s no mandatory labeling. Dry Farm Wines proudly have a low sugar count. Do you like to drink wine? Have you been put off by the additives, alcohol content, or sugars in your regular wine? Let me know in the comments on the episode page! Key Takeaways Just because a wine is labeled organic doesn’t mean it’s natural. Women in menopause tend to have more headaches and other hangover symptoms when they drink red wine because of the additives in it. The sugar content in Natural Wine is extremely low, so it’s not going to spike your blood sugar like other wines. Quotes “All natural wines are farmed organically but not all organic wines are natural.” [9:02] “People who eat a natural, clean diet, exercise, and who care about their body know what they feel like. They know to feel is to understand. They’re in touch with their body.” [32:49] “Our customers depend on us to taste these wines and make sure they’re delicious, outstanding, and excellent and then bring them these new flavor experiences.” [44:23] In This Episode What the natural wine movement is How the wine industry mimics the processed food and factory farming industries What you need to know about the additives, both natural and chemical, used in wine production The role of irrigation in winemaking Where red wine gets its deep red color Why middle-aged women have a more difficult time drinking red wine Links & Resources Check out the full show notes for this episode here Check out the Your Longevity Blueprint Blog Get Your Penny Bottle of Wine from Dry Farm Wines Find Todd White and Dry Farm Wines Online Follow Dry Farm Wines on Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | YouTube | Pinterest Get your copy of the Your Longevity Blueprint book and claim your bonuses here Find Dr. Stephanie Gray and Your Longevity Blueprint online Follow Dr. Stephanie Gray on Facebook | Instagram | Youtube | Twitter | LinkedIn Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic Podcast Production by the team at Counterweight Creative

Many companies have a tradition of creating funny videos, skits, or events as part of their corporate fun. Earlier this year, Manulife Financial issued a public apology for what they are calling a, “spoof rap video that was part of the executive team’s year-end message.” (Link below) This was an internal video that was retracted after some employees said that they were offended by it. This got us thinking, and talking, obviously -- what do you do when activities and programs at work, even when well-intended, are called out as offensive? https://business.financialpost.com/news/fp-street/manulife-ceo-apologizes-for-an-executive-spoof-rap-video-some-employees-found-offensive Key Takeaways: Just because only 10% of the organization feels offended, doesn’t mean that it’s okay. This isn’t a “majority rules” kind of situation. Lead with curiosity! If you are organizing company activities and someone tells you they are offended, ask for more info. You may have had the best of intentions and you still missed the mark. Check your eye roll! Sure, in some cases, you may feel super frustrated that someone tells you they are offended...but be aware of your own reactions and try to be honest with yourself about where they come from.
Ed struggled through challenges and pain. After two decades of drug addiction—including 11 devastating years of addiction to methamphetamine—Ed had thrown away his life savings, biotech career, home…even his dog. He’d spent months in jail, and four years in meth psychosis. He heard disembodied voices, believed vast conspiracies targeted him, and estranged himself from everyone who’d tried to help him. After getting clean in 2008, Ed discovered: Just because you’re done with drugs, doesn’t mean drugs are done with you. He continued to battle severe mental health challenges. Ed triumphed over adversity, and found his strength through struggle. Amazing people inspired him to pursue a spiritual path of self-improvement and serving his communities. Ed Kressy may be the only person who was once arrested by the FBI, yet went on to turn his life around and receive a community service award from the director of the FBI. He transformed his past from a liability, into an asset. You will be inspired by his message, which is pointed, positive, and powerful: Redemption is possible, despite the most hopeless-seeming circumstances. Never give up on a human being…kindness is never wasted. Second chances benefit the giver (society), as well as the receiver. He became a volunteer first responder, and currently volunteers for nonprofits that deliver entrepreneur training to currently and formerly incarcerated men and women. He overcame his paranoid fear of the FBI by volunteering for the FBI, and now assists their outreach to communities affected by addiction and incarceration. He pursued his lifelong dream of being a writer, using his story as a way to help others. His work has appeared in The Washington Post, Vox, and the San Francisco Chronicle. His book, My Addiction & Recovery, is being published in April 2020, by Lifestyle Entrepreneurs Press. It is for readers seeking a greater understanding of the possibilities for power through adversity, via a personal, poignant, triumphant story. He has delivered talks for MIT, Google, LinkedIn, Cisco, and others. He has twice been a storyteller for The Moth. In the future, Ed will continue to leverage his partnerships, platforms, and message to bring hope for transformation to as wide an audience as possible. Key Takeaways: Just because you’re done with drugs, doesn’t mean drugs are done with you. - Ed Kressy Everything can wait except the search for spiritual meaning. - George Harrison To speak of a person searching for god is like speaking of the mouse searching for the cat. - CS Lewis It is better to conquer one’s self than to win a thousand battles. - Unknown The more I give the more I get. - Ed Kressy Ed Kressy https://edkressy.com/ For more information about Chris Vasquez and Next Level Mindset: http://chrisjvasquez.com
Well, we thought we had a lot to say in the first three parts of this series. In part 4, we really go to town. To really do awesome in an interview, it takes work! From preparation with online research about the company to getting to the interview ON TIME to leaving the interview feeling like you nailed it, you got to do the work. We shared many laughs recording this one, and we are pretty confident we are giving you some great pro tips, too. Enjoy! Key Takeaways: Just like we said in the previous episode, remember to listen, really LISTEN to the questions you are being asked. Wait for the interviewer to finish speaking before you start answering the question. There is no need to rush! It’s okay to take a few seconds to think before you open your mouth. When the interview is coming to an end and you are asked if you have any questions for the interviewers, have questions ready! One of the fastest ways to leave a poor last impression is to say you don’t have any questions. That said, make them good ones. Don’t pee in the parking lot before an interview. Especially if the parking lot is in sight of the building where you are hoping to get a job. This is both gross and unnecessary. Come on, people.
So, I jumped on a sales call the other day, something I haven't done in a while, and it got me thinking. That whole "we're one on one" pitch? It's not the magic bullet it used to be. Lots of folks are doing one on one now. If that's your main differentiator, along with "we do dry needling" or "we have BFR," you're heading towards becoming a commodity. And when you're a commodity, it's a race to the bottom on price. We're diving into why you gotta go deeper, connect with people on their real problems, and deliver an experience that truly sets you apart, not just a list of services.

Key Takeaways: Just because something looks good on paper, you don't live your life on paper. If your heart isn't into something the way it needs to be, then you owe it to yourself to do the best for yourself. You can't plan life, and you can't plan how your business is going to go. You can't plan how your career is actually going to go. You can have an idea but you can't control what opportunities you get. So the ability to be flexible, the ability to respond in the moment is something you have to hone in on. You're only as good as the job that you currently have, and so you're always looking for that next hustle and you're always working to develop connections. If you have a dream in the back of your mind, something you feel you are supposed to do, there's no secret to getting started: Just do it. There's never going to be the right time. There's nothing mystical about it. It's connections. BONUS QUOTE: "On the show itself (American Ninja Warrior) you're not competing against the other athletes. Key Takeaways: Just because you can market to someone, doesn’t mean you should. Is it the right person at the right time via the right channel with the right message? Or is it simply convenient for you to push something out to that individual – regardless of how they’ll receive it? Pause and think about what will actually be received and relevant How will your company be impacted by the changing retail conveniences emerging to make purchases and replenishment easier for consumers (like subscription services, dash buttons, and prime delivery)? How can you proactively leverage these changes to be more relevant with your customers? What could happen if you don’t? Globalization. Technology is making the world feel smaller and more connected. PT Money is the founder of FinCon and a personal finance blogger at PTMoney.com. In today's episode, I get a chance to interview him LIVE at FinCon to share his financial journey. Episode Summary Around age 24, PT realized that he was “not moving forward financially”. He describes how he “had debt” and “wasn't saving at all”. After discovering Dave Ramsey, PT used the debt snowball approach to pay down his loans. Diving deeper into the rabbit hole, PT started reading personal finance websites and learning that he should max out his 401K, IRA, and HSA accounts. PT's savvy investing was mainly driven by his “anti-government, anti-establishment” mindset and the notion of “reducing taxes as much as possible”. In order to further advance his financial position, PT started to automate his contributions and invest in a taxable account (after maxing out his pre-tax accounts). Around this same time, PT started his blog PT Money in order to document his financial journey. He soon discovered that this “hobby” could earn him some real money. He went from earning his mortgage payment, to 1/3 of his W2 income, to ½ of his W2 income before quitting his day job in 2010. Running PTMoney.com soon became his day job, so naturally, he needed a new side hustle! In 2011, FinCon was born! PT was not satisfied with the other personal finance conferences he attended, so he decided to start his own. He created a map outlining the location of all of his personal finance blogger friends. After careful deliberation, he decided that Chicago was the best location to host his first event. In order to make the event successful, PT diligently studied other conferences and leaned on his network for their expertise. He says “I tend to lean on people I trust”. The first FinCon had nearly 250 attendees (compared to the 30 expected from PT). At this LIVE FinCon 2018 interview, there were OVER 2,000 people at the event! Key Takeaways Just get started! – PT says that he had no idea what he was doing when he first launched his blog in 2007. He just “leaned into the passion and put down the distractions”. Fortunately, he quickly realized that this hobby of his could bring in some real money. His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is “don't feel like you need to jump into it… don't be afraid to do it on the side”. It took PT three years after starting his blog to quit his day job, you don't have to take a crazy entrepreneurial leap if you don't want to. Leverage Your Network – Having a strong network is so powerful for an entrepreneur. PT leaned on the expertise of his friends and colleagues to make FinCon successful. His first three employees were all friends from college! He warns “don't feel like whatever you've created needs to be solely under your control or in your name.” Open-source entrepreneurship allows you to play to your strengths and to let others complement your weaknesses. Heidi Le: Resource for Transformation In this episode, Jeff and Heidi discuss: Her experience as a family member of an individual struggling with addiction and her own journey as a recovering co-dependent individual. There is no one answer, it may be an environment change, new relationships, a learning of new skills, or something else. Finding a safe community where you can be open about your journey. How her music has helped her through her journey and her recovery. Key Takeaways: Just changing your environment and relationships does not change who you are and the ways that you may be struggling. When you reach a fork in your life, you get to choose - both paths are going to be painful, are you going to have the pain of getting stuck or the pain of getting well? Isolation feeds addiction, anxiety, depression, and all the other dark things. Community can help to counteract that darkness. If what you’re doing now isn’t working, don’t be afraid to try something new. The first group or meeting or counselor may not be the right fit, but just keep trying. Nobody is too far gone to find recovery and find healing. "It’s a powerful thing to be able to take a break or move away from a dysfunctional environment, but that’s rarely the only solution. We still have to do our internal work to get well. Without our internal work to really get well from the inside, we tend, as humans, to recreate what feels familiar." — Heidi Le Connect with Heidi Le: Twitter: @HeidiLeMusic Facebook: Heidi Le Website: HeidiLeMusic.com ITunes: Heidi Le Book: Confessions of the Broken Instagram: heidilemusic Youtube: Heidi Le Music Album: Confessions of the Broken Spotify: Heidi Le Blog: Confessions of a Codependent Rock Chick References: Book: Codependent No More: How to Stop Controlling Others and Start Caring for Yourself by Melody Beattie Website: FacingAddiction.org Got ideas? Building an Iconic Brand In this episode, Tom and Paul discuss: How to "revive" a previously popular brand. Why training can make or break your team. How important it is to have a company culture. Catering to your customer. Key Takeaways: Just because a brand may have lost popularity doesn't mean it's "dead". Building a relationship with customers means more than just having good service. Would you rather have a well-trained, successful team that MIGHT leave or an unsuccessful team that WILL stay? When building a company through franchising, you'll need to find owners who buy into your culture. Topics Discussed in this Episode: [01:35] How Ryan got into the traffic conversion space and what it was like back then when he were just starting [07:33] How Ryan was able to build an email list and the pivotal moment that eventually launched DigitalMarketer [12:16] When DigitalMarketer became an actual company and how they built the business [16:23] What they did to change DigitalMarketer from a personality-driven brand into a company-driven brand and some of the big shifts that they made in the company [25:15] What it was like when DigitalMarketer went almost bankrupt [27:57] What they did to improve their customer churn and create the stickiness that made customers keep coming back [35:10] The shifts they had to make to get to $10M in ARR [39:45] Tips on what not to do when it comes to product expansion [41:52] How hiring the right people made the biggest impact on DigitalMarketer’s growth Key Takeaways: Just going out there and selling something for $2,000, the market would only bear that price point for so long, especially when everybody else started doing it. Because at that point, if everybody is doing it and a lot of them suck, it doesn’t matter that yours are good. People aren’t going to know the difference from the outside looking in. When everybody in the marketplace looks exactly the same, the only advantage that you can have is to have a better brand. If you want your business to be a sellable brand, it can’t be about you. Selling a subscription is much harder than selling one-offs, but as long as you have something new to talk to people about, they would sign up. People will join for content, but they stay for the community. If you really want to make subscription work, what you have to incorporate into it is some type of pain of disconnect. Action Steps: Turn your business into a company-driven brand. Take the “genius” and turn it into a transferable document. Consider shifting from an ala-carte model into a subscription model. Do something new that would entice customers to sign up for a membership or a subscription. Invest in creating a community for your brand and then leverage that. Hire people who care, who are excited, and who want to learn, and invest in them. Focus on efficiency rather than productivity. Set aside money for taxes. Ryan said: “If you’re in the guru business, you want to tell your origin story, you want to talk about how all these amazing things happened to you. If you want to make a pivot away from the guru business and into this true sellable brand… you’ve got to set your ego aside.” “Productivity is a myth. It’s garbage. The more productive you get, the more capacity that you create within yourself, which means the more work you do. We don’t get more productive and then do less. We get more productive and then do more.” More from Ryan Deiss: DigitalMarketer Website Ryan’s Twitter (@ryandeiss) Ryan’s LinkedIn Resources mentioned in this episode: Profit First by Mike Michalowicz Sponsor link 14-day Free Trial to LeadQuizzes Thank you for listening! What is hormone replacement therapy and how can it significantly impact our quality of life? What measures can we take to promote longevity? If you’ve got the same question or similar questions to that one, then this episode is perfect for you! Dr. Stephanie Gray shares her knowledge and expertise to help us figure out some of the root causes of our health problems and the ways in which we can fix them. Visit https://holisticwellness.ca/podcast for complete show notes of every podcast episode Topics Discussed in this Episode: The house blueprint analogy to taking care of your body’s health The difference between synthetic hormones and bioidentical hormones The link between hormones and autoimmunity Where bioidentical hormones have the greatest impact Who should not use bioidentical hormones What monitoring your hormones look like The important areas we need to focus on in order to support our hormones naturally The different types of testing options and when to get them Key Takeaways: Just because someone has had a hysterectomy, it doesn’t mean she automatically needs to take hormones, especially high doses of hormones. There is a huge role for hormone replacement therapy in the autoimmune community. Studies show that the higher your hormone levels get, the more reduced your autoimmune symptoms will be. Progesterone is the most soothing, calming hormone. It is great for sleep, it is great for anxiety, and it is great for bone density. But it is the first hormone to decline and can start declining as early as our late 20s. Boosting the estrogen can help get rid of menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats, and help with memory and cognition. Testosterone is just as important for women as it is for men and help with mood, motivation, drive, libido, and energy. You need a functional medicine practitioner to help you rebuild your body. Action Steps: Get blood work done to assess your hormone levels. Depending on your situation, consider getting hormone replacement therapy. Make lifestyles changes by allotting time for meditation, yoga and/or deep breathing. Fix your nutritional deficiencies by taking supplements as needed. Focus on reducing your toxin exposure. Do a liver detox. Stephanie said: “Stress is your body’s biggest hormone hijacker. It’s going to rob you of your important hormones. So you’ve got to figure out the best means for you to reduce stress.” “We have to cut ourselves some slack and know that every day we can make changes to better our health, and we’re going to have those realizations. Ten years from now, we’ll still be uncovering new surprises, but the important thing is that we’re willing to change and we’re learning as well, and we understand it’s a journey.” Thanks for listening!
