What if happiness isn't something you chase—but something you tune into? In this powerful solo episode, Darin Olien strips away the distractions of modern life to explore the real source of clarity, peace, purpose, and joy. With a raw and contemplative flow, Darin shares his hard-won truths about why success didn't fulfill him, how pain can become sacred, and why tuning inward is the path to your Super Life. This is more than a motivational pep talk—it's a deep call to remember who you really are. Redefining Happiness Let's start here. Happiness. We're sold this idea that it's a destination. That if we just get the right body, the right job, the right relationship — boom — happiness will magically arrive. But the truth I've discovered over and over is this: Happiness isn't an emotion. It's a frequency. It's coherence between what you feel, what you do, and who you are. When your internal world matches your external actions — that's happiness. When your soul and your choices are in agreement — that's freedom. Purpose Isn't What You Do — It's Who You Are I used to think purpose was this big thing I had to accomplish — something out there on the horizon. But now, I know better. Purpose isn't just what you do. It's how you be. It's the energy you bring into the room. It's the way you treat people. It's how you respond when no one's watching. The SuperLife isn't about chasing. It's about tuning in. When you're aligned with your soul — you don't need to prove anything. You just live it. Perspective: From Victim to Creator Here's a shift that changed everything for me: We are not victims of this life. We are creators of it. The moment we stop outsourcing our joy — waiting for the world to “make us happy” — we begin to reclaim our power. Fear? Becomes fuel. Struggle? Becomes the sculptor. Your life becomes a canvas — and you become the artist. The Keys to Living Your SuperLife So how do you actually live a SuperLife — from the inside out? 1. Radical Self-Honesty See yourself clearly — no filters, no bullshit. Get real about what's working… and what's not. 2. Daily Devotion Not grand gestures. Small, consistent choices. The micro becomes the macro. That's the game. 3. Community & Reflection Who's in your orbit? Do they mirror your greatness — or your fear? We rise together or we shrink alone. 4. Clear Energy Inputs Your life is a result of what you consume — not just food, but thoughts, media, environments, people. 5. Soul Dialogue Build an inner life richer than your outer one. That's where the guidance lives. That's where your real self is. The Meaning of Life — and the Illusion of Seeking It Outside You know, I used to ask myself: What's the meaning of life? Why am I here? I thought maybe I'd find it on a mountaintop, or through success, or in someone else's approval. But here's what I know now: Life doesn't give us meaning. We give life meaning. Meaning is something we create by how we live, how we love, how we grow, how we serve. The trap? Thinking the answer is somewhere “out there.” But chasing the external world is like drinking salt water. It looks like it'll quench your thirst… but it just leaves you emptier. Life Reflects You — Always And yet — here's the twist: The external world is meaningful. Not because it defines you… but because it reflects you. Your relationships, your challenges, even your pain — these are invitations. Mirrors. Life is always showing you where you're aligned… and where you're not. Not as punishment — but as clarity. Pain as a Propeller I've felt pain — heartbreak, betrayal, confusion, exhaustion. I've stared in the mirror and wondered, What the hell am I doing? But I've come to see pain differently. Pain is sacred. It's a teacher. It strips away what's false. It shows you what matters. And if you're willing to feel it — it becomes a propeller. It pushes you to course-correct. To get honest. To get free. Course-Correcting with Courage You are allowed to change your mind. You are allowed to choose again. You are allowed to leave the path that's killing your spirit — and walk toward the one that makes you come alive. That's what living a SuperLife really means. It's not perfect. It's not always easy. But it's real. It's yours. And it's waiting for you. Closing Reflection: Ask Your Soul If you're confused right now… if you're overwhelmed or numb… Just stop. Get still. Ask your soul: What's true for me? What makes me come alive? Don't ask what's trending. Don't ask what will impress the world. Ask what feels aligned. Ask what lights you up. That's where your SuperLife begins. Hello friends! Bringing you something a little different this summer, bite-size episodes that you can enjoy with a little more frequency than usual. Over these next few episodes, you'll get to hear from my friend and former coach, Andrew Moss! We had the opportunity to sit down together a few weeks ago in Washington DC. That's where my book tour took me, and it was such fun to meet Andrew in person while he was there as part of his sailing race around the world. Andrew suggested that we record a conversation together focused on my new book, Waking Up – since, as he shares somewhere in here, "we are two of the characters who show up with some frequency!" I have divided our conversation into three parts, and the fourth installment you'll get to hear is from the podcast that Andrew and I create together about his journey around the world, Where in the World is Andrew Moss? Hope you enjoy. Happy summer! Thank you for being along on this journey with me. I appreciate you! This is how you don't wake up one day with a marriage where you don't communicate or connect. This is how you don't wake up one day unable to easily walk up a flight of stairs.. It's called course correcting and I think it's the answer to how we focus on little things daily to support the big things that matter most to us. It's adjusting as we go. Not letting things spiral until we hit rock bottom then need an extreme plan to get back on track. It's being present and noticing things when they are off - in all buckets of your life. Health, finances, relationships… all of it. This is your plan for course correcting and compounding small habits that gradually lead the life you want. It's our daily plan actually for designing a life that you love. The 1 in 60 rule! If a pilot takes off headed to their destination and they are just one degree off course, every 60 miles you fly with that error moves you one full mile off course. So you can see that even a slight variance from accuracy can create a real issue. This is all about small decisions that you make everyday. You don't just wake-up one day with a bad marriage or a disconnected relationship with your child, it compounds over time. And on the flip, you don't just wake up one day feeling like your healthiest and strongest self. It all compounds over time. But the best news is - this makes it feel manageable. It's constant focus and attention everyday. It's knowing your goals and priorities. In my Ultimate Master Course and also in the 2.0 Habits System, I focus SO much on figuring out what you love and don't love because I think most people just don't ask themselves the questions! Here's that link if you're interested: Course- https://lindsay-dickhout-7734.mykajabi.com/2-0theultimatemindsetmastercourse 2.0 Habits System & Weekly Books- https://lindsay-dickhout-7734.mykajabi.com/the-ultimate-mindset-master-course-1 I created a system to focus on daily habits because after reading every possible habits books and really studying the topic at a deep level, I realized that we just need to set ourselves up to do the daily things. To do the things that bring us closer to our goals or the person that we want to be and NOT do the things that take us further away from it.

00:50 - What course correcting miscommunication is 02:00 - Course correcting with my son 06:00 - Being a parent and mom guilt 07:12 - Misinterpretation of my comment with my business partner 09:12 - Having courageous conversations 11:40 - Being unattached to the results when having a courageous conversation 12:30 - Being responsible for the impact our conversation is going to have 13:25 - Accountability of our conversations 14:05 - Understanding that people have different perspectives 15:00 - Importance of mindful conversations in adults and children 15:30 - Course correcting our self-talk In This week's Mind ReMapping Moment, we talk about Course correcting mis-communication. How do we course correct mis-communication? Because as humans we are bound to make errors and there's definitely going to be miscommunication due to different interpretations and models of the world. The best part is that you can course correct mid-communication or post communication. A recent incident with my son where he hung on the shower head a little bit harder than it popped out a few days ago so we talked about the consequences that he's gonna contribute to the fix and it was all good. Yesterday while I was going to get something from the cabinet I noticed the hinges were coming off, so I was upset and raised my voice which is something I strive not to do. So I was asking myself how do I turn that into a lesson and also how do I self regulate, so we had a conversation this morning in the car and I explained to him that he's going to contribute in the fixing of the shower head and replacement of the screws. As parents we usually try to be the best parents we can be even trying to be perfect parents (which doesn't exist) so much so that if we lose it at times we end up feeling guilty, what we need to realize is that the fractured communication can be mended. I had a miscommunication with my business partner where I made a comment that was taken personally in a negative way which wasn't my intent, I noticed her body language shift and because of the relationship we have she felt safe to communicate which helped me apologize then course correct the communication and mend the conversation. When we have courageous conversations we open up a dialogue to get deeper into understanding why what we said landed as harmful and the feedback we get helps us course correct the communication. Everyone has different models of the world due to past experiences and trauma, so if you get to have a courageous conversation and the other person is unwilling to course correct then we ought to move in a way that feels best for us. When we begin to be responsible for the impact our communication is having, even before we communicate it, then it will lead to more mindful speaking and communicating. The most challenging thing to course correct is our self-talk because a lot of times the things that we say to ourselves are the result of deeper values and belief issues that are hidden in our unconscious. Despite what most people realize, it's the unconscious mind that runs us. But how is that so? Get your first primer in 19 minutes! His latest book is Adrift: America in 100 Charts. What We Discuss with Scott Galloway: What the 70% of Americans who describe themselves as middle class should consider in the election cycles ahead. Do we want advanced technologies in the hands of elected officials, or under the exclusive control of private enterprise? What Scott means when he says, "In America, it’s never been easier to become a billionaire — but it’s never been harder to become a millionaire." Why does the tax code seem to get increasingly complex in spite of the majority of Americans supporting its simplification? How can we address the inequities and inequalities of the current state of capitalism without seeking to dismantle it entirely? And much more... For most of the pandemic, the housing market has been out of control. Sellers have seen home values soar, while many buyers have either been forced to make insane offers, or simply put dreams of a new house on hold. Recent trends, however, suggest the tide could finally be turning, and that a course correction could be on the horizon. In his weekly check-in, Philadelphia economist David Fiorenza examines this storyline, breaks down the August jobs report, and looks at overall consumer confidence.
