As a raving fan of her music, I am thrilled to have Toni Jones join the She Sells community! Her music has become a mantra for the women in this community. We played her music on repeat at the Sedona retreat. We're listening to her songs while getting ready in the morning, working out, walking into work, and today we get to learn even more through her experiences. Toni Jones served for six years as a Life coach and Mental Health advocate for women and youth. Now as an Affirmation Musician, she found creative ways to promote the message of conscious well being through her music. Toni started making music as a tool for her life coaching clients to practice healing on the go. After great response from her first album she decided to make music full time. She has since released five projects so far: Affirmation for the Grown Ass Woman, Affirmations and Chill, I See Me Mantras, and Get Cha Mind Right (the mental health mixtape) Toni's music is healing music, she coined it as Affirmation music. Affirmations set to modern music, which is different from the traditional way of saying Affirmations and mantras that are usually set to relaxing new age music. By creating affirmations to modern music this allows the listeners to ride, be on the go and vibe, just dance to the music while still reciting healing words.   Show Notes: [2:46] - Pain and heartbreak has always been a point of entry for Toni's evolution. [3:38] - Toni shares how she discovered narcissism and the inspiration for learning as much as she could to help other women through a wellness company. [5:50] - Within 24 hours of praying for direction, she knew she needed to create affirmation music. [6:58] - Toni never intended to become a musician. [8:37] - Toni describes the first experience of creating the first song for clients. [9:17] - Her first affirmation album was 9 songs created to help a woman grow. [10:38] - She had a mission to create something relevant but not corny. [12:58] - Because it was such a knowing, Toni was able to create her album with no fear. Before she knew in her head, she knew in her body. [14:51] - Toni did not experience imposter syndrome in the beginning but admits that she experiences it from time to time as her music grows. [18:20]  - What is an evolved way of doing business? [19:42] - Sometimes we feel that we have to sacrifice our wellbeing for the grind. [21:34] - Tap into how you feel when creating. [22:17] - The vibration of your business is important. [23:42] - An evolved way of doing business is putting yourself first. [26:21] - Toni highly recommends the book The Energy of Money by Maria Nemeth. This book changed her relationship with money. [29:06] - Learning and unlearning was one step. Embodying this new mindset was another step. [31:06] - Whether money is there or not, it is important to maintain the right mindset. [33:02] - Toni's spiritual connection with God is what keeps her feeling worthy. [34:55] - You are worthy of healing without effort. Worthiness is a birthright. [35:50] - Toni lists some ways she taps into her worthiness. [38:19] - Once Toni saw how she developed her own coping mechanisms she began treating herself as a newborn who needed comfort and guidance. [40:47] - There's a shadow and light side to everything. [43:28] - What is the focus of Toni's affirmations lately? [45:31] - Practice listening to your intuition through meditation. [46:49] - There is so much noise going on in our lives, so you have to slow down and listen. [47:58] - You only get better. Look at your past and how much you've progressed.   Connect with Toni: Instagram  |  YouTube  |  Website  |  Facebook   Links and Resources: Instagram  |  LinkedIn  |  YouTube She Sells with Elyse Archer Home Page

Does making friends get harder as you get older?  How the hell do I make friends? According to the American Perspective Survey, May 2021,  a lot of people are not  satisfied with the size of their friendship group. About half of Americans (51 percent) report they are very satisfied or completely satisfied with the number of friends they have. 30 percent say they are only somewhat satisfied, and 17 percent say they are not too or not at all satisfied with the number of friends they have. If you fall in that range of little to no satisfaction in friendships, here's what you need to know about creating a bond.  So how long does it take to make a new friend? -50 hours of time before you consider them a casual friend  - 90 hours before becoming real friends  - 200hours- before becoming close friends  - source: 'Journal of Social and Personal Relationships'  As the New York Times reported in 2012, there are “three conditions that sociologists since the 1950s have considered crucial to making close friends: proximity; repeated, unplanned interactions; and a setting that encourages people to let their guard down and confide in each other.” Cultivating emotionally intimate relationships, in other words, takes more work than just compliments. In this episode I sit down with my friends Krista and Tabia and we talk about our friendships, the ups, downs and the work it takes to make them work.  A special thank you to Kamil Lewis, LMFT and Danielle Byard-Jacskon, Bumble Friendship Expert for lending their expertise on forming friendships.  Thanks to the sponsors of this episode.  ZocDoc:  https://www.zocdoc.com/ Ritual https://ritual.com/lovers for 10% off your first 3 months  Follow the guests on this episode: Follow Shan: http://instagram.com/shanboody http://tiktok.com/shanboody https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSE2Lr9RfYXiFtiX1jk5qng loversfriendspodcast@gmail.com Follow Krista:  https://www.instagram.com/itskrista/ https://www.instagram.com/almost30podcast/ https://www.instagram.com/morningmicrodose/ https://www.instagram.com/moderntarot/ Follow Tabia: https://www.instagram.com/tabiacharles/ Follow Danielle Bayard-Jackson https://www.instagram.com/daniellebayardjackson/ https://www.instagram.com/friendforward/ Follow Kamil Lewis, LMFT https://www.instagram.com/kamil.lewis/?hl=en https://www.instagram.com/theexpansivegroup/?hl=en https://www.instagram.com/safewordpod/

I just remember this appetite within me. Like what is, what is making people do this? And I always had a curiosity, an insatiable curiosity for the unknown, the unspoken, but, you know, and so as I grew up in church as a teenager, I just remember asking provocative questions because I'm like we are learning about you. We learn about these miracles and things, but it was like, it didn't make me want to be a better Christian." 19:03 Toni:  "I asked myself these three questions, how do I feel? And I give myself the space in time. This is how I feel right now. I'm going to be honest. And then I go into the next question of how do I want to feel? And I go into what is the ideal emotional goal that I would love to embody today. And I jot that down or I spend time in my mind about what's true for me, how I want to feel."28:24 Toni: "Knowing when to say, I need help, I need support is monumental. It's monumental, even in business. Oh I need a team, I need PR, I need a manager. I need this. Let me bring this to the altar, to manifest those alignments and those relationships to make my business, to make my success, to make my finances that much more sustainable and healthy."31:51 Toni: "You know,  you can think on what's not here and go right into the emotional reality of scarcity. But then you can look at what you're saying at the present moment. Focus on what's here, what you can be grateful for and tap into that emotional reality of abundance, you know? And so gratitude is such an important practice because it helps you to get present in the moment in a way that is supportive for your future."38:42 Toni: "I'm going to love you forever. No matter what changes I'm going to treat you just like how oxygen treats you. Oxygen doesn't judge you. It supports you no matter what your habits, no matter what your practice is, no matter what race, no matter how much money, we're gonna treat you like the level of oxygen treats you."Please leave a five-star review for the Get Loved Up Podcast. In my first solo episode of the year, I share thanks to YOU -- my amazing listener. And reveal what you can expect from The Grown-Ass Woman's Guide in 2022. One of the things I do love to do in a new year is come up with a word (or words) that really encompass where I want to go during the year ahead. 2020 = CONNECT (ironic, isn't it?)2021 = CURIOSITY (when we come from a place of curiosity, there's less judgment of each other and ourselvesIn 2022, my friend Marion was talking about how she was doing three words and I really loved the ideas.  I did a little journaling and meditation and my three words popped into my head. ALIGN I don't want to be that person who just throws things against the wall to see if they stick or works with people or takes opportunities because they bring in income, but don't feel good. I want to do things that align with who I am right now and where I want to be, and so align is a really, really strong, positive word for me. SIMPLIFY There's so much noise out there. There are so many things we could be doing. I don't want to spend a ton of time doing  just for the sake of doing. Once I have aligned myself to what I want to do, I then want to simplify the steps.  I'm doing those things that "move the needle" bring results. SPARKLE Oh, my gosh, it's such a 12 year old girl word, Isn't it? But I love it so much. I'm done dimming my sparkle for those who might think I'm extra or too much. When we remember our worthiness, we connect differently. Whether you're single or in a relationship, you will enjoy this conversation about how to increase sexual intimacy, cultivate conscious communication in relationships, and practice self-love. Let's sink into our heart-space with Toni Jones. For over six years, Toni Jones has served as a well being leader and mental health advocate for women and youth. Her passion for helping people consciously talk to themselves better combined with her talent of spoken word and writing music has made her the most iconic Affirmation Musician on the charts today. Toni hopes to inspire women to become more conscious about their well being and self-talk in a culture that drowns the feminine energy in masculine "workaholism," specially when it comes to entrepreneurship, self-empowerment, and sexuality. On March 19, 2019, during Women's History Month she launched “Affirmations for The Grown Ass Woman”.  In November of 2021, she released "Me Vs. All of Me Affirmations of Self Love." Her music is incredibly powerful. In fact at the end of this episode, I will play one of my favorite affirmation songs. During our time together, you will feel inspired to be consciously committed to your well being inside out — starting with the way you talk or SING to yourself! Music can be a mental health tool to create well being on the go at the push of play. So let's hit play on this conversation shall we? It's the premiere episode of The Grown-Ass Woman's Guide! Let's dive in, shall we? In a recent poll, 100 Grown-Ass women were asked: “How often do you feel like you're not enough in one or more areas of your life?”The answer may surprise you. But what's even more important is WHY we feel like we're not enough and what we can do about it. In this episode, you'll hear from therapist Melody Murray who provides some key insight Plus,  learn five simple ways to feel more enough that's worked for me and so many other grown-ass women.Identify the area or areas in which you feel like you're not enough.  If there are multiple, write them all down, but then we're going to pick one at a time to go through the process. Define what enough looks like in that area. What does it even mean?  What does it look like to be enough as a mom, in your job or a friendship? It really helps to define what it is that you think is enough so you can actually compare where you are and where you think you should be. Imagine someone you love, it could be your best friend, a sister, neighbor, maybe even a daughter.  Would you hold her to the same impossible standards you expect of yourself?  Would you judge her so harshly?  Or would you cut her some slack? What makes you so unique that you are expected to achieve some bogus level and be this person that you would never expect someone else to be?  Who is determining your enoughness or not enoughness? When we put our own value in the comments of other people, how can we  not feel  like we're not enough, especially when that person hasn't even gone through their own healing journey?  Spoiler alert: the person you should be listening to is you.5. Imagine for a moment that you are enough right now.  Just be quiet with yourself  and say, I am a human being doing the very best I can.  And that's enough. I  am enough.  How would your life look if you stopped and you reminded yourself every day just for five seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, five minutes? Huge thanks to our sponsor! A love letter to you, the Forty Thrive listener. On December 12, 2018, I launched this show. No big team, just my awesome editors to help me. I produced over 100 episodes, talking with incredible experts, and other badass women over 40. Over those 20+ months, while I've done a lot of talking (like, A LOT) I've also been listening -- to you. I've heard what you love about the show, what you'd like more of -- even what you'd like less of. One of the challenges I've had since Day 1 was letting women know that Forty Thrive is NOT just for women in their 40s, it's for women over 40. So if you're in your 50s or 60s — or hell, even beyond that, this is for you, too. But if you have to explain something more than a couple of times, you might need to tweak your messaging. I learned not only the age of the woman listening, but who that woman really is.  She's someone who wants more out of life. She's a lifelong learner. She dares to dream. She knows this is the time to leap but is a little afraid of the idea… and even if she wanted to, HOW would she do it?She wants to take care of her shit. Like really wants to. But the self doubt creeps in… and she needs some support here. She cares less about what other people think and is starting to really tune into what her gut says. She's a GROWN-ASS WOMAN. And likely, she is YOU. Sure, the calendar says you're over 40. And that, to me, says something. It says we've lived a lot of life. We've got so much experience. But it's not just women over 40 that get me fired up, who turn to me for coaching and collaboration — it's GROWN-ASS women over 40. They're my spirit animals, for real. The past few years getting to help women find that spark inside of them and recommit to their own lives has been an honor. The fact that I get to do it for a living?

On the Did you know Segment… Sunni and Lisa discuss The U.S. Capitol Coup Attempt… what on earth?!  On January 6, 2021, the sitting president incited a riot and civil unrest with his base.  He encouraged them to march down to the U.S. Capitol to remind congress that the election was stolen.  He even told them he would be with  them… yea, no!  More importantly, the U.S. Capitol was breached, those inside were in fear  - for their safety and lives, several supporters and two Capitol Police Officers paid the ultimate price. Not to mention, those who have now tested positive with COVID-19, a direct result of sheltering in place with folks who refused to wear a mask.  We don't even know what the fallout will be as it relates to the spread of COVID nationally.  What we do know is, many have been identified, arrested, terminated and unable to fly those friendly skies, now labeled “Domestic Terrorists”.  Almost forgot to mention, the crowd of Domestic Terrorists was comprised of those who swore to protect and serve (law enforcement), military, elected officials, a gold medal olympian and celebrities!  Whew!  The fallout continues…On this episode of Active Allyship…it's more than a #hashtag! Sunni and Lisa try to unpack the gravity of the attempted coup on the U.S. Capitol with Marcia L. Dyson (yes, wife of Michael Eric Dyson).  Marcia has an upcoming memoir titled, Irreverent Memoir of A Grown Ass Woman, she's also an Ordained Minister, Civic Social Activist and Founder of Women's Global Institute.  Marcia shares what she's currently marinating in…quieting her Spirit, Spirituality and mediation. The ladies have so much to discuss, they can hardly wait to jump right into the conversation.  Which by the way, covers a lot of ground!  There's so much to process and digest in these times, these very uncertain and concerning times.   Talk about analogies and parallels, this episode is full of them!Aside from the breach, the absolute fear that gripped those inside the Capitol and the willingness of uniformed police officers to be ever so gentle with the rioters, what might you ask was missing?  How about mace, clubs, rubber bullets and an army of law enforcement personnel at the ready!  We all witnessed the atrocities associated with the Black Lives Matter Peaceful Protests, we all know what happened, repeatedly.  This riot had all of the necessary ingredients: sinister participants, bomb makers, murderers, demonizers of anything non-white, anti-Semitic language and racism. The white nationalist posturing was UNfcukingbelieveable! Let's be clear, they had help from the inside! Not open for debate either! If you aren't already, please follow us on IG|Twitter @activeallyship.podcast!
