After watching a commercial for a Girls-Gone-Wild!-esque video, Prince Eddie of Denmark decides to head to Wisconsin to meet some topless college students. Unfortunately, the experience isn't what he expected. Then, we discuss the movie's place within the lineage of late-90s films, how it adheres to the rebellious sensibilities of the era, and (notably) the ways it disregards them. Finally, we talk about a recent article in The Washington Post which, coincidentally, references the film in its examination of the current proliferation of celebrity veneers, unattainable standards of beauty, and how these trends desecrate the authenticity and natural beauty that once defined the genuine sexual energy in media from decades past. Read 'Have you noticed that everyone's teeth are a little too perfect?' by Jessica M. Goldstein at The Washington Post.....Our theme song is "Mirror" by Chris Fish.

In the independent film world, “why does your story need to be told?” is one of the most important questions to answer early on. And as always, we dive deep into the entire process, including how to work with high profile actors such as Kelsey Grammer, Julia Stiles, Colman Domingo, and Janeane Garofalo, how were decisions made about distribution given today's landscape, shooting on location in a working hospital, and of course how they technically achieved the specific look and feel of their film.An organ transplant committee has one hour to decide which of three patients deserves a life-saving heart. Bottom line: In order to receive the life and spirit that God has for us in the present, we need to identify and mourn the real and metaphorical deaths we have experienced in the past. Scripture:John 12:24-25 (The Message) “Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you’ll have it forever, real and eternal.

Still out there in the world all alone, with a few familiar faces, Julia Styles reprising her role as Nicky Parsons and a few new ones, Alicia Vikander and Tommy Lee Jones, Bourne is older, still a badass but somehow much less the wiser. This film took what was a great character/series (The Bourne Identity particularly)and turned it into a scriptless, pointless, car chase, boom boom action film like every other we see today. And it has the distinction of being the first film of 2016 that we outright DOOMED, 5/10 on the Justice & Doom Movie Meter. Boo.
