Singing isn't just about notes — it's a powerful, transformative act that shapes our worship, teaches us life lessons, and brings us closer to God. Have you ever wondered why some songs stay with you long after the service ends? Or how music can lift your spirits in moments of deep struggle? Jared Hines, a worship leader and devoted Christian, shares eye-opening insights on how singing shapes our attitude toward worship, the stories behind powerful hymns, and the life-changing impact of music rooted in real-life experiences. In this heartfelt episode, Jared reveals how songs like "It Is Well With My Soul" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" carry the weight of tragedy, hope, and faith—stories that have touched generations. You'll discover how these melodies serve as prayer, encouragement, and evidence that we are never truly alone, even in life's darkest moments. Keeton and Eli dig into the biblical foundation of singing as a form of worship, discussing how it can be more than obligation—it's an act of joy and reflection that draws us closer to God and to each other. We break down:The biblical act of singing in Acts 16 and its significance in transforming attitudes during worship. How music has the power to influence moods, rebuild hope, and unite nations—even in the most challenging times.Personal stories behind hymns like "Remind Me, Dear Lord" and "It Is Well With My Soul," illuminating their roots in personal tragedy and divine comfort.Practical ways to engage more meaningfully with songs—by understanding their stories and letting them speak to our hearts. The role of music in comforting those facing cognitive decline or grief, and how it can serve as a spiritual anchor. If you've ever felt disconnected during worship or wondered about the deeper meaning behind the songs you sing, this episode is essential listening. Jared's stories and insights will inspire you to see singing not just as tradition, but as a vital part of a lived, faith-filled life. Whether you're a seasoned churchgoer, a music lover, or just seeking hope in hard times, this episode will make you rethink the power and purpose of worship through song. Perfect for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of spiritual music or seeking encouragement through the stories behind the hymns. It's more than just singing; it's a reflection of faith, resilience, and divine love.

Few topics create more discussion among Christians than baptism. Is it simply an outward sign of faith, or does the Bible teach that it plays a role in salvation? In this episode of The 412 Christian Podcast, Eli, Keeton, and special guest Carson Heupel dive into Scripture to examine what the Bible actually says about baptism, grace, faith, repentance, and salvation. We look at key passages, common arguments from different perspectives, and challenge listeners to let God's Word guide their conclusions.Whether you've wrestled with this question for years or you're hearing the discussion for the first time, our goal is simple: pursue biblical truth and grow closer to Christ.

Welcome to Mysteries to Die For.I am TG Wolff and am here with Jack, my piano player and producer. This is a podcast where we combine storytelling with original music to put you in the heart of a mystery. All stories are structured to challenge you to beat the detective to the solution. Jack and I perform these live, front to back, no breaks, no fakes, no retakes. In the world's most dangerous working environments it can seem like everything is out to kill you. The equipment you use. The materials you work with. The very air you breathe. Stored energy is a coiled viper waiting for the right moment to lash out. Owners, manufacturers, contractors, and beyond have developed safety protocols to combat STCKY, that is, Stuff That Can Kill You. Gravity, Motion, Mechanical, Electrical, Pressure, Sound, Radiation, Biological, Chemical, Temperature. This season is all about the means of murder as authors put our STCKY detective skills to the test. This is Season 9, Stuff That Can Kill You.This is Episode 7, where biologic is our STCKY means of death. This is A Cast of Crabs by Larry M. KeetonDELIBERATIONDrake is up to his gills in this one. No one on board (and few on land) liked Ronald “Lep O” Dunne. Drake needs our help to determine if Lep O died accidentally or, if on purpose, who helped him along. Here are the men on the Debra Anne in the order we met them:Capt. Sigurd, crab boat owner and operatorGull, first mate and friend for over 20 yearsHammer, engineer, Native American, and former copHere's what Drake knows:• On the voyage back after a successful crab harvest, Lep O was found in one of the king crab holds. The crabs devoured him. His skull had a large fracture.• The official investigation ruled the death accidental. Under federal jurisdiction, the victim's family can sue, which Sarah, Capt. Sigurd's daughter, did.• Capt. Sigurd's granddaughter, Sarah's daughter, Debbie, married Lep O while away at college. Lep O assaulted Debbie, but she refused to press charges.• Capt Sigurd hired the man on to separate him from his granddaughter. Sigurd admitted that if Lep O hadn't died in the hold, he would have thrown him overboard.Capt. Sigund acknowledged negligence in his statement to Drake, saying the hold was open, so he accepted responsibility.Gull is the crane operator who handles moving the pots and placing the steel covers over the crab holds. The last time he saw Lep O, the man was crossing the street.Gull claims the title of Debbie's “adopted uncle.” He thought little of his nephew-in-law.Hammer, a Native American, has been with Sigurd for 2-years, since quitting law enforcement. As the engineer, he's responsible for the boat's seaworthiness. The last time he saw Lep O was inside the bar accosting a waitress.Hammer had suspected Lep O was stealing native art. This was confirmed when he found a head piece in a box marked as frozen bait.Sigurd claims he was in his cabin at the time Lep O went into the hold.Lep O had been cleaning the hold in which he died. It was still open when he went ashore to the nearby bar. He hit on and then assaulted a waitress. Hammer had arrived by that point and intervened, putting Lep O into a chokehold. A knife fight nearly broke out.Lep O left the bar and didn't show up for work the next morning. Was Lep O's death a not-so-sad accident or who did the definitely on purpose?ABOUT Larry M. Host Ben Rice travels to Sacramento, CA, to sit down with Sacramento Area Brewers Guild president Chris Keeton (head brewer at Alaro) and vice president David Weiss (brewer at Blue Note) to talk about Sacramento Beer Week 2024 (happening April 26-May 5). We discuss this year's iteration of the Rising Together guild collaboration (among other things). In past years, it's been an IPA using certain ingredients, but this year, in honor of the Sacramento Brewers Showcase happening on Saturday May 4 (at Heart Health Park), they're honoring May the 4th Be With You, by letting breweries choose the Light Side or Dark Side, allowing for a wide range of beer styles and flavors, and reminding consumers of the vast array of beers available in the beer scene and what differentiates each brewery. Plus! Taprooms and bars are back in business at Sac Beer Week 2024! Internal strife has diminished that in recent years, but those are the sins of the father, not the current administration, who is working hard to recapture the spirit of Sac Beer Week. This episode is not only a celebration of what Beer Week and the beer scene once was, but an exploration of where it's going and how it will handle a more educated and less alcohol-friendly next generation of consumers. We also shout out some people who keep the scene alive and show that, even when day-to-day excitement may be down, there's still a strong supportive and passionate base of brewers, marketers, and drinkers. David Weiss damn near gets emotional on the episode and Chris shows why he was put in charge in the first place. To do my small part to help amplify the woefully underrepresented voices of women in craft beer and beverage, I sat down with Ariel Keeton. Ariel is the founder of Team Nevertheless, a group of women in craft beer in Minnesota. She has been in the craft beer industry for 8 years and currently brews at Excelsior Brewing Company in Excelsior, Minnesota. Ariel shares her path into beer, how she helped create Team Nevertheless, and what is going on at Excelsior Brewing. She also got me really excited to celebrate the beers that are releasing at various Minnesota breweries on March 8th, which is International Women's Day. I hope you enjoy listening to the show! Cheers!

The Bible is full of ravenous violence, sexually explicit scenes, sexual assault, murder, and more. But somehow it's considered the universal good book. While histories show us that white Christians in the US have frequently appealed to their Bibles in support of issues now judged to be on the wrong side of history, including racism, sexism, and colonialism, contemporary white evangelical figures have in recent years worked steadfastly to defend the Bible against charges of complicity in harm. This is especially the case when it comes to patriarchy and the place of women, as evangelicals conscript the Bible into arguments for and against patriarchal normativity in response to changing conceptions of what is good. Jeff Stanfield & Andy Shaver are joined by hunter and outdoorsman, Shawn Keeton. One morning, after showing up for a goose hunt several hours early, Shawn and his hunting partner witnessed something that neither could explain, something that also woke his dog from a dead sleep and caused her to go into a frenzy once this unknown entity's feet started its sprint onto gravel.
