Episode Notes This week on Sunday Edition, we celebrate MLK Weekend and honor the transfiguring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr with our special guest host and friend of the show, Mark Richert, who will share a recording of one of Dr. King's most stirring messages entitled, “But If Not,” a powerful call and challenge to all of us to discover and commit to a great cause. Captured just less than five months before his assassination, this moving sermon deeply convicts the listener today who, reflecting on the cutting short of Dr. King's relatively young life, here's his unflinching exhortation that, “If you haven't found something so dear that you aren't willing to die for it then you aren't fit to live.” Then, after inviting the audience to share their reactions, Mark will moderate a panel discussion with ACB leaders to discuss perspectives on the life and legacy of Dr. King as they have influenced ACB's own history and commitment to civil and human rights and the challenges that lay before ACB and our community generally, with panelists being asked to answer a fundamental question, “What cause or conviction do you have that you believe is worthy of sacrifice and wholehearted commitment?” It is a particular treat to welcome Mark to the host's microphone in that Mark successfully bid on this hosting opportunity in this past December's ACB Holiday Auction. Mark will be inviting some great friends including Cheryl Cumings the Chair of MCAC committee and he looks forward to the open round-table conversation with Sunday Edition Audience members in the second hour.

My guest David Giwerc, Master Certified ADHD Coach, Entrepreneur, Founder/President of the ADD Coach Academy, shared a very powerful statement during this episode, “when you identify your strengths, you're identifying a natural, innate talent and a way of creating excellence consistently in your life. But that's not enough because, without the sustaining mechanism, Or the source that activates that strength, those strengths will die. And this is especially true in ADHD because ADHD is a deficit of interest. It's, it's the challenge of boredom, but interest isn't even enough.” You are in for a treat, consider this episode as a training session, during this episode, David shared extremely helpful insights on: Identifying the importance of focusing on strengths, especially character strengths Why we look at the different categories of strengths What does executive function in the brain have to do with strengths? During the last 20 minutes of the episode he goes deeper into the following: An effective way to start your day to get the most out of it Understanding the importance of how you process information and how it impacts learning Definition of Executive Function and it works with ADHD How to manage big emotions I was trained and coached by David himself for a big portion of my ADD Coach training program at ADDCA, so it was my absolute honor to have my mentor/coach be on my show. Playboy CEO Ben Kohn on Playboy's big brand transformation and huge momentum behind the business' growth. Playboy plans on going public via SPAC Mountain Crest Acquisition Corp (MCAC). From Morning Cents (October 1, 2020): Playboy's biggest strengths are in its brand recognition globally and its massive social media reach. They mostly license and sell Sexual Wellness and Style & Apparel products, and a little Gaming & Lifestyle and Beauty & Grooming products as well. They're shooting for revenues of $296 million and EBITDA of $104 million by 2025, which seems pretty reasonable given their momentum. In fact, they might have a shot at overshooting that goal by a lot. A bet on Playboy would require them to gain traction in pop culture, which is impossible to predict. But given their brand assets and recognition, I'd imagine it would be pretty easy to gain traction by getting some very famous people (like Cardi B) to integrate the brand into their content. I also think that branding Sexual Wellness products with Playboy branding is pretty easy pickings. If you believe in the newly focused Playboy brand and opportunities, MCAC looks like it could be a good stock to own while the business puts up strong numbers. We also think that branding Sexual Wellness products with Playboy branding is pretty easy pickings. This is not our brand of long-term or dominant business, and there's obviously the issue of investor morality in owning such a promiscuous company. But if you believe in a newly focused Playboy brand, it seems like a pretty hot trend to hop on if you're willing. As far as valuation goes, Playboy is pretty reasonably priced at $10.25 at the time of writing. Buying in at that price would imply a 10.5x forward EBITDA, which is around where the biggest fashion apparel brands are trading. Playboy definitely doesn't have the scale or profitability advantages that its biggest publicly traded “peers” do, but it has massive expected growth off of a smaller base. This definitely isn't a stock that should be a significant position or a long-term hold. Still, if we're ok with the stock's morality and unpredictability, it actually looks like a small, potentially high upside speculative bet. Gut feeling says that they are setting themselves up to smash their projections, given how fast brands can get popular with the right media and celebrity partnerships. Just to be clear... All comparisons here are against other SPAC bets. These SPAC stocks are complete speculative bets, which is more like gambling than investing, so I don't really usually own many speculative bets. Summary: #DWYD Toy & Book Drive: Milwaukee couple making a difference in the lives of children in the Milwaukee area. A husband and wife team that in their spare time (outside of full-time careers) create positive change. This is the season of giving, and I am excited to bring you a conversation I had with Josh Scarver of DWYD Gives, Toy and Book Drive. The toy and book drive got its start eight years ago when he and his wife hosted a party and asked the attendees to bring toys. At that event, they collected 40 toys. Over the last eight years, DWYD Gives has since grown to over 20 different business locations and has collected over 20,000 items to help children in the city. Make sure to check out the list of locations so you can see which is the closest to you so you can do something to give back this holiday season. Topics in this episode: ●     4:59 - Biggest Challenges ●     7:14 - What life is like for some of their recipients ●     8:06 - What has him fired up about the future ●     10:14 - How people can get involved ●     12:05 - The 22 different donation locations ●     18:00 Josh asks me: Can you tell me why you started doing what you’re doing now? Connect with DWYD Gives & make a difference: Website: https://dwydgives.com (https://dwydgives.com/) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dwydgives/ (https://www.facebook.com/dwydgives/) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dwydgives/ (https://www.instagram.com/dwydgives/) Email: josh@dwydgives.com (mailto:josh@dwydgives.com) 1:06 The children that we’re trying to help are what I call forgotten children, unfortunately. They’re children who have been victims of abuse and neglect in our city of Milwaukee. It’s a problem that most people don’t talk about. And in the eight years that me and my wife have been doing the DWYD Gives Toy and Book Drive, we’ve collected over 20,000 items to help these children in the city. #DWYD Toy & Book Drive: Milwaukee couple making a difference in the lives of children in the Milwaukee area. A husband and wife team that in their spare time (outside of full-time careers) create positive change. Over 4,000 children come through the doors of the Milwaukee Child Advocacy Center (MCAC) annually and they rely heavily on the charity and kindness of others. The MCAC is a hospital-based child advocacy program through Children's Wisconsin bringing a specially trained team of professionals to aid children. The donated items help provide security and reassurance to victims. Each child and teen that visits the center is offered a toy and a book to make a stressful day a bit more comfortable in an unfortunate situation. #DoWhatYouDesire lifestyle brand headed by Joshua Scarver spreads a message of following your dreams, inspiring others and giving back. Every year he and his wife, Bekah Lustig join forces, for their annual #DWYD Toy & Book Drive to prove that anyone can take an idea and create an effort to help their community in a positive way. “I have realized in the 8 years since this has begun, is that it feels good to help and it feels even better to inspire others to take action”. Joshua’s true passion in life is giving and inspiring others to join in helping those who are less fortunate. The drive started as a small event collecting 40 toys and books. As of last year, the drive has grown to over 5,000 donations that help bring smiles to the faces of the forgotten children in our community. “It is my dream to keep growing the #DWYD Toy & Book Drive to even greater successes and bringing more of the community and its businesses, organizations and leaders together to bring positive change to our city of Milwaukee and beyond.
